I've worked with Christian for many years as an improvisor, actor, director, and improv coach, and I would recommend him highly in any of these roles.

As a coach, Christian's greatest asset is his flexibility -- he takes all of his students into account when working on a particular skill, and works with everyone patiently until they "get" it. With his improv background, he truly understands the craft of acting, and thus is able to look at things in different ways, finding a teaching style that matches his students' style of learning.

Whether you're getting a monologue ready for auditions, honing your craft, or dipping into the world of improv, Christian would be an excellent choice for a coach.

Christian is not just any ol' improv teacher leading you through silly games. He teaches LONGFORM improv. You learn the skills of developing a story as you go, understanding how to be/not be the protagonist, how to raise the stakes, what are characteristics of different genres, how to pace a story from a 15 min - 2 hour show. These are classes for those who are interested in creating compelling theater, not just getting laughs. I highly recommend him!

I have had the pleasure of being directed in two Un-Scripted shows by Christian.  In addition to his talent as an improvisor, Christian is an inspired teacher. He is committed to raising the level of each person's play, no matter what their level of experience might be.

More than any other improvisor I have worked with, Christian is dedicated to developing his own understanding of how the brain functions while improvising. He uses this knowledge to help others achieve their full potential.

Christian has a wealth of improv experience, skill, and talent, and is extraordinarily generous when it comes to sharing his knowledge. The passion he brings to the craft is palpable. I recommend him highly.

I've had the pleasure of being taught by Christian, of watching him perform, and best, of performing with him myself.  I can attest to the fact that he is terrific in all of these contexts and more.

Christian has thought deeply about improvisation, and it shows, both in his work and in his direction and teaching.  I am, without a doubt, a better improvisor thanks to Christian's input and example, and to the experience of playing with him on stage.

I would highly recommend him as a coach, an improvisor and a director: you won't be disappointed!

Specialties

Improv classes for actors who are interested in creating theatrical productions on the fly by learning how to be their own director, writer, and acting coach.

Plus, improv can be such a great way to explore not just the roles you could get cast in at a normal theater productions, but it gives you the opportunity to challenge yourself in roles outside of your normal "type". We try and make our classes more than simply improv classes, but actually full fledged acting class, because the two are one in the same. In any given story you could be called on to play roles that you're naturally good at playing or roles you might not be. Learning and practicing standard improv theater games is important when training as an improvisor, but exploring the acting skills necessary to play every role in a story is how the Un-Scripted Theater Company likes to take our stage performance to the next level. We're hoping you'll find this kind of rehearsal and training is useful for you too.

Why do great acting teachers come to the conclusions that they do? Why is the art form of improv the way it is? What makes actors perform the way they perform on stage? Why does the human brain work the way it does? By bringing this kind of exploration of acting to his teaching, Christian hopes not just to teach students how to improvise, but rather to help actors become professional improvisors that can get cast in any improv theater company that they choose, and perform side by side with other great actors to help push the art form of improvisation to the next level.
