We stopped in Spazio's to check them out while in town for the Round Barn Blues Festival on a Sunday morning.
The place is very nice and lots of windows.  They have a pretty large menu selection with an eggs Benedict brunch selection.
There was also a stone oven for their pizzas....which we would like to come back and try.
We weren't that hungry but wanted to get something for our daughter (16 ).
When she couldn't make up her mind, we had a lot of help from various servers and chefs...very helpful!  She decided on the Cobb Salad (which is HUGE btw...wow)...and we are now in love with their house dressing.

When my wife got accepted to grad school we thought it would be fund to go out and celebrate at Il Spazio since we had heard positive things from some other people. When I first stepped into Il Spaz I though, wow this is great! I am so excited that they have a place like this in the 'ville!

Then the food came out. The spinach and artichoke dip looked like it had been left out for a few days, a yellowish crust looked like it had developed on top of the dip, and it tasted like it as well. The chicken Parmesan was okay but nothing to wright home about.

The big negative was about an hour after eating when my wife was puking her guts out in the bathroom from a sever case of food poisoning. This continued for several hours, to the point where I though we were going to have to go to the hospital, not a nice way to celebrate getting into grad school. We are not sure if it was the spinach and artichoke dip or the ranch dressing on her salad, but it much have been one of those two since she did not eat anything else that evening.

I think this place use to be better before management changed over, about a year or two ago. Since that time the quality level has fallen through the floor. I really hope that this place gets shut down so that no one else has to go though what we did.

I'll preface this by saying the handful times I've been to Il Spazio, I had been visiting my wife in Kirksville, when she attended medical school. I've always been pleased with the quality of the food I've had there and with the service. I give it an extra half star for being one of the two best dining options in Kirksville.

Il Spazio has a great selection of wood fired pizzas, Italian dishes, some unique salads and traditional pub favorites. They used to brew their own beer, but have since begun to carry Boulevard Brewing Co's seasonal varieties.

I think focusing on the food has made them MUCH more consistent. My meal last weekend was top notch.

Started with the Rangoon Rollers (Crab Rangoon Rolls served with a Raspberry Jalapeno Dressing). Perfectly cooked, warm and cream cheesy.

One of my favorite things about Il Spazio has always been their house dressing. It's a Peppercorn Parmesan  that offers a really nice balance. As Nutter B. said, I'd buy it and take it home if I could. My side salad had very fresh ingredients and my dressing was as memorable as ever.

I finished with the Cajun Seafood Pasta, (what seemed like) a one pound bag of penne with Andouie Sausage and Shrimp with Cajun spices. Great flavors, but the pasta could have been brought out of the water about a minute and a half sooner for a better texture. It was graduation weekend though, so I won't hold it against them.

Overall, "Il Spaz" is a great dining option in a town of Mexican restaurants and Chinese Buffets.

The nicest restaurant in Kirksville offers old standards in the bar food vein, plus a couple of original twists. I've seen them start to cut corners on ingredients (the gold raisins in the bleu green & gold salad are now plain old brown Thompson raisins, for instance). It's a small matter, but if they're cutting corners on little stuff, might they also be cutting corners on the big stuff (cuts of meat, quality of vegetables &c)?

It's alright.  The restaurant is very nice, the service is usually great, but the food isn't the best.  It's just ok.  They could add more items to the menu, and 4 out of 5 times I've eaten there, the food is usually too greasy.  They have some pretty delicious risotto, if I remember correctly.

Spazio was a really nice surprise. Located on a cool street corner, the building was very attractive and the inside ambiance was within keeping of the almost historic exterior. The service was great and timely. We had a family of four with two adults and two children. Our daughter went for the kids spaghetti and our son tried the Italian wood fired pizza, both were excellent and each under $4.00. My wife chose the humus wrap and she gushed about it and I went with the simple chicken tenders but they too were really tasty. Very lightly breaded, and cooked perfectly so they were still juicy. The server brought me over three kinds of sauces to try and they were perfect. We both chose a side salad with the house dressing and it was very good. It was homemade and although I really liked it, I'm a huge blue-cheese fan so next time I will give it a go. Wanting to end on sweet we requested the dessert menu and it looked great.  Since we decided to for two of the tasty looking selections we gave the Creme Brulee a try along with The Cheesecake Factory's "Killer Vanilla Bean" cheesecake and both were yummy. Everyone left full, very satisfied and truly enjoyed the experience. I would definitely recommend it. The bill came to $38 including tax... very fair for the drinks, food and dessert.

Agreed, this place is fairly nice for Kirksville, and coming here is more like for the times that I don't want to eat at a buffet, Mexican restaurant, or fast food.  The restaurant is cozy and airy, with fairly average service.  Foodwise, it's pretty inconsistent...I've ordered the Southwestern Farfalle and it's been 4/10 spicy one time, then 8/10 spicy another time.  My friends swear by the Denali pizza and/or entree (chicken, apple, red onion, cheese) and order it over and over.  I give them props for being different and introducing new things on the menu.  However, what I'll never get tired of is their house dressing -- now that I'm no longer in KV, I'd love to buy it online!
