wow.. this is one hell of classy joint.. dark woods.. piano bar.. waiters and waitresses dressed impeccably...

the food itself was also quite delicious.. for appetizers.. i had the crab cakes, seared scallops and shrimp cocktail..

the crab cakes were good.. but nothing really memorable.. nick and sam's crab cakes are some the best i've ever had though..

the seared scallops were fresh.. large and cooked perfectly..

the shrimp cocktail seamed a bit rubbery..

after the appetizers.. i had the iii forks house salad... not bad for a house salad.. crunchy greens.. tangy vinaigrette..  pappas bros has better house salad though..

as for the steak.. i got the 12 ounce new york strip.. it was cooked perfectly (rare).. but the cut of meat was a bit tough.. it was a great steak.. but i've had much better at other texas steakhouses..

the sides were all decent too.. the mashed potatoes, creamed corn, snap peas and fresh sliced tomatoes were a cornucopia of food.. the green onions they added to the plate didn't really seem to belong..

for dessert.. i had their pecan cake.. there wasn't enough pecans.. but the ones i had were crunchy.. the cake was decent.. but i expected something a bit more refine from iii forks..

overall.. my meal was very good.. although i personally think there are better steakhouses here in dallas...

**review based on food only**

The fiancee gets to attend these free dinners sponsored by drug reps so I asked her to order the largest meal available and take some home for me. I know, sleazy, but the economy's bad and I still want steak. So anyways, she brought home 1/2 a rib eye and some potatoes for me last night. The steak was cooked medium rare but it was so tough and chewy. We only live 5 minutes away so it couldn't have gotten tough all that quick from the time she had it on her plate until she got home. Also, it was pretty flavorless; no grill or seasoning taste at all. The garlic mashed potatoes were good but I wouldn't come here just for that. I have always wanted to try this place but from my first "tasting" I was very unimpressed. Maybe I'll give them another chance later, but there are so many other steak choices in the area alone.

My favorite restaurant in Dallas!  My wife and I have eaten here for our anniversary twice and try to go about once a year.  It is a bit pricy - about $175.00 for two without alcohol, but if money is no object, you are in for a real treat!

Salad - I had the iii Forks salad, which is an award-winning salad in Dallas, and I can see why!  The bleu cheese crumbles were amazing!

Bread - served by the loaf, the bread was hot, flaky, and moist,

Lobster Bisque - very good as well -- very creamy!  If you have to choose between this and the salad, go with the salad.

Filet - perfect medium rare!  I got the 12 oz filet Oscar Style (topped with crab meat and some sort of creamy sauce) and it was to die for!

Sides - my steak came with fresh asparagus, whipped potatoes, and snap peas.  All great.

Dessert - I usually get the Grand Marnier creme brulee, which always hits the spot.

I can't wait to go back to this place the next chance I get!  iii Forks will always hold a special place in my heart (and on my taste buds, as well).

Holidays in our house have nothing to do with the women slaving over a hot stove and doing dishes while the ungrateful fat men lay on the couches... it's all about drinking great wine and eating high on the hog! So this year for Thanksgiving we decided we women were on STRIKE and we would be making RESERVATIONS for Thanksgiving! We are Thanksgiving dinner (not brunch or lunch) eaters and III Forks had one of the only fine dining dinner options in town. I made a quick reservation with my OpenTable iPhone Application and voila! we were good to go.

We arrived a little early because we wanted to start with a cocktail or glass of champagne at the bar. Service was prompt (we were the only people at the bar) and friendly. When we first sat, there was some innapropriate, loud carrying-on going on at the end of the bar by about 3 or 4 waiters. I'm all for having fun and stuff but this was kind of ridiculous. Eh, okay, it stopped after a few minutes and we enjoyed our drinks.

It should be said that the people watching on Thanksgiving evening at III Forks is stellar. You've got normal looking families to people who dress WAY up in near formal wear to people who you just know had the argument of "damn you, I'm NOT dressing up for Thansgiving dinner, I'm wearing my blue jean button up shirt". We had a great time imagining everyone's situation.

We were sat and given the "menu". We only had 2 choices... chateaubriand or turkey dinner. Both started with an awesome Tomato Bisque soup and the famous III Forks salad. I have since googled "III Forks Salad" and have found a recipe I want to try because it was so good. They also brought out a big loaf of bread that was soft yet crusty on the outside-- really perfect. That loaf didn't last long :)

Next came our main courses. I had the chateaubriand. It came topped with a bourdelaise sauce that I thought was way too salty (maybe over reduced?) that I promptly scraped off and enjoyed my meat without it. The meat was really, really tender. It came with mashed potatoes, that awesome creamed corn and fresh sugar snap peas.

I should mention that our server was really nice. I kinda felt for him having to work Thanksgiving but he acted like it was no big deal. He suggested a great wine for us to try that we'd never heard of before (Duck Horn) and it was exactly what we wanted.

For dessert, the whole table had a chocolate bourbon pecan pie. OhEmGee! Perfectly sweet, salty, gooey and crunchy. That was worth every steenkin' calorie.

I'd give the food a 5, the service a 4 (minus one star for the unruly waiters at the bar) and the overall atmosphere a 5. I've been to III Forks once before and I can confirm it's one of my favorite steak houses in town.

I had dinner here last week with CIO magazine and about a dozen of my close firends.  You can't skip the III ForKs salad.  The salmon was just OK (alas, I'm allergic to beef!)... but the desert- black coffee and take your pick (I had a vanilla cream cake!) was the highlight of the night.

I think it's a bit unfair to judge a restaurant based upon some lone RW experience. Let's face it, you're not going to get the same level of food and service as you typically would. I mean, you're basically turning a superior restaurant into a cafeteria and expecting you're going to have the same experiences. I think service should still be attentive and food delicious, but it won't be the same as if you came on a normal evening. You're paying $35 for goodness sakes - temper your expectations!

That being said, I've never had a bad experience at III Forks. The food has always been very good, service impeccable, and wine list enormous. I'm a big fan of their mashed potatoes, and every cut of meat I've had here has been excellent, but I am partial to the filet.

The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because of one less than stellar experience I had here with my then boss. During that visit, everything was just slightly less than par - the food and the service. It was still quite good, just not the excellent to which I was accustomed. I chalk it up to an off day, but my impression of their consistency took a minor hit. Also, there have been times when we've had to wait despite having a reservation (the longest of these was a 15 minute wait). So, these demerits earn it 4 stars instead of 5.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary and it was simply wonderful. I had French Pear Martinis with Elderberry Liqueur ....SO TASTY!! It was like drinking a flower, but not too sweet either.
Our appetizer was a seafood medly and it wasn't great...only downfall to our evening.
My hubby had the 24oz porterhouse......it was devine!!!!!!!!!! We've had so many steaks in fancy steakhouses that did not live up to their claims, but this one did.  It was cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned and the quality of meat really shined...it was like butter it was so tender.
I had the Ahi Tuna......also very very good...like velvet.
We did have a dessert, I forgot what it was......but they put a sparkler on it for our celebration.  Very thoughtful!
The service was amazing!! We had a lady come around and just chat with guests, she was very engaging and made us feel very welcome.
Overall a fantastic experience!

I must say that III Forks, Del Frisco's, and Bob's Steak and Chop House are my FAVORITE restaurants in the DFW area for good steak and fish.  With that said, here's the difference of III Forks.

* Larger more Texan dining room.  I remember the huge antler chandelier in the main dining room.
* III Forks salad is probably the best salad I've ever had.  I have been trying to imitate it ever since I've had it back in 2003.

You will have amazing service here.
You will have amazing meat and or fish here

I've never experienced such great service. The staff at this restaurant really knows the definition of customer service and not to mention their steaks are amazingly great. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are a steak lover like myself. It's always a great experience to eat at restaurants who mainly serves USDA PRIME MEATS but their steaks are done is plain excellence. All the dishes I've tried are well executed and bursting with flavors. Unlike other usda prime steakhouses where you usually order the sides separately, III forks entrees come with single servings of side. They also offer a variety of great wines.

Ah, III Forks.  I've hear many a praise about you.  Maybe it was the waiter, maybe it was the RW menu selection or maybe, just maybe it was the

Background and Setting:
Over the past seven years or so, whenever I'd ask my dad to take us to III Forks he'd always say, "I had it once, too much money for nothing special."  Honestly, I never believed him.  I do now.

Three friends and I went last weekend for their RW menu so we can see what the big deal about this place was, and I must say we all had high expectations.

We walk in, impressive.  Very nice décor.  You wouldn't think you're in a restaurant, but in a fancy mansion from the early 1900's.

Service:
The waiter was... lethargic?  Miserable?  Just a normal guy with no interest in waiting it seemed.  Our waters were empty most of the time.  He made no attempt to explain anything on the menu or make any recommendations.  His responses to our questions were muffled.  Horrible.

Food:
We came for two things, the raved about sides and the beef.  So let's break it down:

Bread- FANTASTIC!  Loved every chunk I ripped off of that warm, tasty loaf.

Red Lentil Soup with coriander cured duck- this was pretty good, you'll like it if you like lentil soup.

Bleu Cheese Beef Croustade- my pals didn't think this was anything special, but I rather liked it.  The beef was lean and tender, the sauce wasn't too strong and the bleu cheese crumbles were just right.

Flame Roasted Beef Tenderloin- this was supposed to knock my socks off, and I had VERY high expectations, especially after experiencing how good a steak can get at Pappa's Steakhouse.  This was a good cut, lean, moist, flavorful, but I can make it at home.  The "sauce charon" isn't memorable.

Mashed potatoes, peas in pod and corn sides were good.  I liked em and can't say anything bad about them, but they were not great like what I had at Hibiscus.

As we sat there stuffed as can be with our plates waiting to be picked up for the past fifteen minutes or so, we all unanimously agreed that dessert would either make or break this place.  With great sorrow, I must say the the dessert SUCKED BALLS.

"Chef's Selection" apparently means "chef's kid's selection" cuz we got a cheesecake that looked and tasted as though it came from a rundown Chili's (no exaggeration here fellas) and a chocolate mousse that was presented like a Dairy Queen Blizzard, held upside down to show that it can't fall out of the cup.  Major turn off.  The mousse was better than the slice of Chuck E. Cheese cheesecake we had, but again, nothing special.

Pathetic service, pitiful dessert and mediocre food, I would like to say I wanna try this place out again, but I can't especially with Pappa's as an option.  I should've listened to Nickie G in my III Forks vs. Del Frisco's talk and gone there a second time, but at least now the next time someone says, "OMG III Forks!" I can confidently say as my dad always told me, "I had it once, too much money, but nothing special."

My one and only experience of III Forks is during this year's RW.  I had reservations to this place and Kenichi and this place blew Kenichi way out of the water.  Portions were large.  I enjoyed the fact that all the sides come standard with the entree: creamed corn which is delicious, mashed potatoes, sliced tomatoes, and spring onion.  This is a nice plus as most of the steakhouses I've eaten at only come with the steak itself and the sides are considered a la carte.  The only thing that I did not enjoy was the optional fourth course.  This seem thrown together and the blue cheese was very overpowering.

However we received good service, good generous portions and had a great table at a very packed restaurant.  I will definitely come back to III Forks to try something off their regular menu.

Thank you Restaurant Week for giving me an excuse to drop a bill at some of Dallas' finest dining establishments every year. The cheapo in me normally can't justify the burnt hole in my pocket, but for some reason I feel okay because I'm getting a free salad and dessert to go along with an overpriced steak. But in the case of III Forks, I have to say it was worth every penny.

Even though we sat a few tables away from Lacey Conner from Rock of Love (don't ask me how I know that), the highlight of the evening was definitely the spectacular food. My wife and I started out with some lobster bisque, a plethora of fresh lobster chunks in a thick, creamy soup which was absolutely delicious.  We resisted the urge to lick the bowl clean and decided the bread would be a more civilized way of getting our money's worth. Can't let any of that bliss go to waste.

We then proceeded to order the entire RW menu, splitting everything right down the middle. In hindsight we should have just ordered two tenderloin steaks. I'm usually a fillet type of guy, but this steak was easily the best piece of meat I've ever had. Flame grilled to perfection and covered in sauce charon, each bite just melted away in my mouth for a practically orgasmic experience. We loved the creamed corn and the mashed taters too. Always nice to get a few sides that can hold their own against the main course.

The service was impeccable.  I always feel like a king when someone sweeps my crumbs off the table.  And believe me, with how fast we were wolfing everything down there were plenty of crumbs to be swept.  We even got our waiter to hop on one leg and sing while serving us our food, haha!  Who knew he was so talented?

There are lots of steak houses that will take your paycheck, but very few that will give you a game changing steak in return.  I've got to say I'm a huge fan of III Forks.

This is probably the fanciest "steakhouse" I've ever been to. The hubby took me here while we were on vacation cuz he happens to travel to Dallas quite often for business and he's been to many steakhouses.

I was very impressed by the decor. It was a busy night though, so we had a bit of a wait, even though we had a reservation. It was definitely crowded and I guess it's expected. I, however, didn't order a steak (I was not craving it that evening). My husband did and of course he enjoyed his rib eye, medium rare plus. I ordered the lamb chops, medium. It was very good. I would definitely recommend trying III Forks if you're in the Dallas area.

This is one of my favorite steak houses. Best bone-in ribeye I've ever had. My favorite used to be Mastro's until a client brought me here and I now i crave III Forks. It's to the point where i go to Mastro's and i'm disappointed that it's not III Forks.

My client even told me that another friend heads straight form the airport to III Forks. I'll have to try this my next Dallas trip.

Sides are great, even though i'm not a dessert guy, the desserts look good too. The only strange thing being a non-Texan is that anyone out of state cannot order alcohol unless they're with a "Club" member. So if you're out of state better invite a local to get you drinks!

My wife and I went to III Forks to celebrate a special occasion with a large group.  This is my first time and my expectations were high with all the hype it gets...good or bad.  With Dallas seemingly having more steakhouses per capita than Vegas has strip clubs, it really takes something special for one to stand out above the rest, and it seems that III Forks has done that year after year (according to the in-flight magazine rankings).

Everything that I have ever heard about the decor of III Forks came to light as soon as I grabbed the handle of the front door.  This place is wall to wall Texas.  It's not your typical country club feel steakhouse, but something that pays homage to the cow.  Because of our large group we were upstairs in the private rooms which were nice and spacious.  Once we looked around I ordered a round of drinks and the maitre'd and the servers seemed surprised that we showed up and that we even ordered drinks.  The bar was not ready, the bartender was MIA for a while and they had to take debit cards downstairs because they had no way charge upstairs.  Service is what really sets a steakhouse above the others and so far...fail!

To start I had the lobster bisque which was a good example of what a lobster bisque should be but nothing memorable.  The steak came out a perfect MR and had good flavor.  The cream corn was everything that I was told; crunchy corn kernels packed with flavor.  The chocolate mousse had rich flavor but was thick enough to lay bricks.

The food was good, but the service was lacking.  However, they lacked with grace.  I didn't know that was possible but it was here.  They were slow and unprepared with a smile...that's worth a star.  The atmosphere is something different.  III Forks is a place to take out of towners but there are many other steakhouses in town that exceed III Forks.

I have been living in California for about 7 years now and when I go home to Dallas, the only steak I am interested in having is III Forks. Not only are the people there the best, but the food is great and it is always a fun "Texas" experience for my visiting friends.

The III Forks salad is great, their bread might just be the lightest and fluffiest on earth, and I just can't get enough of that creamed corn. Oh, and the filet. The filet is what makes it all worth while.

I celebrated my high school graduation here. I celebrated my first real job offer in big San Francisco here. And any boys worth bringing home get the pleasure of dining with my fabulous family here. I'm clearly a fan.

This place is definetly for a special occassion! I love the atmosphere in this place. Request the main dining room or the "patio". The patio is actually still indoors but there is a fountain and it feels like you are at a small cafe. The service is spectacular. This is a steak place so I ordered the filet. It came out perfect! I always order the peppercorn gravy for an extra kick. I had the onion soup to start with and it was the best onion soup I have ever had! For dessert we had the bread pudding. This is my favorite dessert!!!

The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. My water glass was always full but they weren't overly in your face. We had a 2 hour dinner and never felt rushed. It is very expensive but well worth the money!

Reading the reviews here on Yelp I was holding III Forks to a really high standard, maybe too high and ultimately the restaurant was a letdown. Honestly when comparing all aspects of the dining experience I can easily say that I have had better.

Let me offer somewhat of a preface to my review by saying that we came here to try the RW menu. Now I know you must be thinking why you are reviewing the restaurant so low if you only had the RW menu. Well what is the purpose of RW? For one it is to give back to the North Dallas Food bank but more importantly it has to do with letting a Restaurant offer what it believes will get people to come back and sped their money willingly.

Living in Dallas for 7 years and in Texas for 10 I always heard the statement on the radio III Forks "The Crown Jewel of American Dining." This maybe the case but from what I observed the Jewel needs to be reset and worked to a new polish from nearly the ground up.

First Things first, we have the ambiance of the restaurant. To this I must say III Forks lives up to its name as bringing the true Texas Motif to life and highlighting the aspects of Texas Culture that every Steak Connoisseur would love. The lighting offers an atmosphere which is excellent of the get together with friends and Prom Dates, Graduation and an overall good aesthetic look to the restaurant. On a side note there is not a single clock on the wall, at least not from where I was sitting, that would tell you exactly how long you have been there, but more on this later.

We then move to the people who were welcoming us to the restaurant and who were our waiters. I don't know what it was, maybe the fact that we came in on a Sunday Night, but I did not see a single smile from anyone of the Staff Members no many how many times I thanked them for their work. Geez how hard is it to even fake a smile; I would have given a higher review if I at least knew they attempted one. Now on to the subject of there not being clocks on the wall. Once our meal was done we had to wait, and I am not kidding you, 20 min before the waiter even noticed we were waiting for our check. At times me and my friends would stop talking and just look around to at least hint that we are waiting and hoping he would pick up on it. Finally he brought the check and no apology; no sorry it took so long, No Nothing. On the way out he said good bye with his back turned and walked away and honestly I have no idea why that happened. But oh well.

We now come to the part where you are most interested in and that is the Food. I must say that this is where I took off the most stars, for just the bland nature of the food. The appetizer was a red lentil duck soup which was served to us tepid and not steamy as a good lentil soup should be. We did have a fourth meal coupon and although the design of the food was exotic using really diverse ingredients the flavor was something they should have focused more on. The steak although sufficient in size has almost no taste. The Sauce was actually detraction from the flavor of the steak. A good steak is one where is it perfectly seasoned with a sauce on the side not all over the steak so to completely extinguish the flavor of the meat. The sides were just sides. They did not add any depth to the meal except the mashed potatoes when covered in gravy is amazing, glad I made that mistake and also the fresh diced tomatoes with copious amounts of pepper and salt. Lastly we had an excuse of a dessert. Our options were either the Chocolate Mousse or the NY Style Cheesecake. The Mousse was way to strong and the Cheesecake should have just been called Sara Lee because that is what it was. The Crust was flaky not firm for what is expected from a Cheesecake.

All in all I would have to say that III Forks was a huge disappointment and was not worth the $44.00 dollars that was paid for the RW menu. I really wanted this place to do well, unfortunately it did not work of so well for me and my friends. Oh well, there are always other places.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Dana's B.'s Simple Restaurant Week (RW) Disclaimer in 3...2...1...

I believe you can tell a lot about a restaurant in how they "handle" RW. Yes, a portion of your noticeably discounted meal is going to charity, but a great restaurant notices that patrons who wouldn't normally dine at said restaurant are, and that the opportunity is upon them to treat you like gold and perhaps you'll dine there again....at the nondiscounted rate. It's Restaurant Customer Service For Dummies. I should pen the book. But I digress...

When my group of best girlfriends from high school decided to participate in Restaurant Week, oh, just at the exact time all of the swanky spots had filled up, I perused the RW availability list and noticed an opening at III Forks. Hmmm, I thought to myself, how have I never been there? And then I remembered: I didn't go to prom. That's right, I didn't go to my HS prom. I know, have you seen me? And, I put out. And EVERYBODY went to III Forks for prom. And since I didn't go, I think I missed my opportunity. A wrinkle in time, if you will. I grew up 5 miles away and, from what I remember, most everyone jumped at the Del's/III Forks bandwagon circa 1998. Mostly, I was curious about what all the hullabaloo was all about.

Sidebar: One time we failed to make reservations for Mother's Day at a steakhouse and found ourselves circling the entire Frankford/Tollway vicinity. Have you seen III Forks on Mother's Day? It was like a carnation exploded in there. I've never seen more corsages on people in my life. And, live music! And, wall to wall people! Can I say clusterf**k on yelp?

So, go we did indeed. Our server, Duane, was SOOOO friendly, immediately complimenting all of us ladies (and the 1 husband who dared join). He went through every item on the RW menu telling us the "can't miss" items and describing each one to a T. We decided on the RW advertised wine special, Cellar 8, at $32 a bottle, which is an amazing price, if you ask me. And then the food fest began:

1. A lovely mixed greens salad with walnuts, crispy green apple slices, and a very mild blue cheese. Add some fresh cracked pepper and I was set.
2. Holy plate of amazing food! Most everyone got the beef tenderloin special with came with a generous portion of filet smothered in this creamy, hollendaise-like sauce that I considered bottling and using as my daily moisturizer. Normal. The enormous plate also contained sugar snap peas, aldente how I like them, creamed corn (might bottle this and use as my nightly moisturizer), and mashed potatoes. Let the food coma ensue!
3. Dessert was a choice between strawberry shortcake and lemon cake. Frankly, I like chocolate and it's noticeable absence from the dessert menu initially put me off, but my friend Caroline swore that she thought this was the original lemon cake from Del Frisco's heyday. Sign us up! Um, Holy Bejesus Pete! And, I don't even like lemony things. Get the lemon cake and then tell me how you convinced yourself not to assault the pastry chef for seconds. Amazeballs.

At one point the GM came over, introduced himself, and thanked us for donating to this charitable cause...I've been to a lot of Restaurants over the years for RW, and that is a first. Really appreciated it. AND THEN he passed out $25 gift cards for a return visit. Wow. Stay classy, San Diego!

I guess I've succumbed to the III Forks hype. I think this is a can't-miss spot for RW and beyond.

Great all-american steaks! Just like you'd like em in Texas!

My dinner that night was free too...so that was even better.

This has been at the top of our list for a fine dining experience since my wife and I moved to Texas a few months ago.  Neither of us are big steak eaters, not that we don't like a good peice of red now and then.

So, for the V-day we got all dolled up and hit up the Forks.  Well, we loved it.  Both of us agree that it was the best steak we have ever eaten.  That is why you should go to Forks man.  The beef is killer.  It was also the most perfectly cooked steak ever and had a perfect texture and amount of season.

I loved the mashed potatoes as well and I personally appreciated that you could get gravy with it if you wanted, although they really didn't need it.

But I also felt like the Lobster bisque was a star.  Dip some of that fresh baked bread in there and you will be in creamy lobser heaven.

We had an awesome night and were taken care of wonderfully. Everything else was killer and worth every penny.  My only complaint would be the stupid North Dallas Toll-way fees I keep having to pay. Grrrrr!

Our favorite Steakhouse in Dallas! I was impressed with the different dining areas they had. Excellent to cater various dining occasions! Service is nothing but superb!

Their bread and butter is so yummy! I always get in trouble for eating too much bread and getting full before my meal comes out. It's super flaky on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside.

Their steak is excellent. I always get my steak medium rare and never gotten anything but medium rare. The flavors are perfection. Simple enough so that you can taste the natural flavors from the steak itself. Their cream of corn and onion soup is THE BEST I've ever had.

You can't go wrong with dinner here...at least with steak. But then, why would you go to a steakhouse and NOT have steak?

Any who, make your reservations, take your friends, family and loved one, and be prepared for an excellent dinner.

P.S. The small band that plays their nightly (I think) are fun to watch and listen. Have a martini or two while you wait and this will definitely set the mood.

We've been to III Forks on a number of occasions, and we've never been let down.  This is one of the best and most consistently solid steak houses in Dallas and you will not be disappointed.
The bread here is fantastic.  It comes out fresh as one giant roll and they break it in a napkin right in front of you as it's placed on your table.  Order any steak and you will not be let down.  I go with a nice filet Mignon every time - flawless.  The sides are killer - hands down the best creamed corn I've ever had.
You should definitely make reservations, dress nice, and prepare for some top notch service and attention.  III Forks is a Dallas must!

I was recently in Dallas on business, and got the opportunity to take my client out to dinner.  Leave it to Dallas, to build an uber-grand steakhouse.  I've been the Del Frisco's in Vegas, but everything in Dallas seems to be on such a grand scale.  The establishment was quite large and ornate inside.  You really felt like you were stepping into another time.  The service was very good, and the food wasn't too shabby either.  I had actually ordered off the menu, and they happened to have what I was looking for - a bone-in fillet mignon.  If you have ever had a bone-in fillet, its really hard to go back to a fillet without.   I'm not sure if I would go to a steakhouse this grand on a regular basis, but when it's for work why not!  mmmmmm.....beef.

So J and I frequented Three (III) Forks again for our very special third anniversary and we went a little overboard...but it was SO amazingly good.

For starters, we ordered and split a crab cake and house salad.  Next came the medium 8oz filet of heaven along side a nice serving of steaming creamed corn (oh so fresh!), creamed spinach (which we really didn't need but wanted to try), and finally, the FABULOUS mashed potatoes.  J had a glass of whatever red cab floated his fancy and I hit the iced tea (ever the t-toller).  For the final bit of fantastic that put us over the edge, J ordered the coffee cookies in cream ice-cream, and I, the heavenly cheesecake with raspberry sauce.  (I kept half of my entire meal for lunch the next day...yeah, it's still that good overnight!).  All in all, a fantastic dining experience, well over-priced, but worth every penny we gave them.

Definitely a "special occasion" or "once-in-a-while" kind of dining experience...unless of course you're a highly paid sports athlete or exec.  Enjoy! :)

This time around I ordered the rib eye and I have to say the porterhouse is definitely better here.  So I may have docked a star off based on this experience compared to my porterhouse experience, but the service was better this time around than it was last time.
I'll give it a solid 4-star rating.

I was really eager to try III Forks. I'm glad I finally did but will not be heading there again. They are severely overpriced and overhyped. The best things about that place is the bread and the steak. The steak was a little better than average. The dessert was a big disappointment as well as the service. There's definitely better things out there.

I don't frequent steakhouses very often, but I came here for a special occasion.  Service, food, and atmosphere are all top notch.

III Forks salad starter was great.  Comes w/ some blue cheese crumbles which compliment the thin slices of apple.  Lobster bisque was extremely rich and creamy, and one of the best soups I've had in a long time.  Seemed almost over indulgent to have that bisque.  Shrimp cocktail was very good.  No hint of any fishy/seafoody taste.  Shrimp were sweet, huge, and the cocktail sauce was cool and fresh tasting.

Complimentary bread was super yummy.  I always end up eating so much free bread at a lot of restaurants (if it's good), that I don't leave room for anything else...hahah.

Main course I had the Alaskan halibut, which was phenomenal.  Perfectly cooked, great flavor and texture.  Side dishes were good as well.  Creamed corn was super good, and I finished most of that first before eating much of anything else.

If you think of Texas and remember the TV series Dallas, then III Forks will instantly remind you of a place where you go for great steaks and to feel 'treated'.

We had our dinner in a private room that was very nicely put together with traditional art and tons of large bottles of wine throughout the room, it was almost a living wine vault.  If you know anything about wine, you won't be able to resist walking around and seeing all of the familiar wineries represented.  The dining table was long and WIDE so no feelings of being cramped at all, yet carrying a conversation to your dinner mate next to you or across was no problem.  I think were were in the Captain's Room.

Food was excellent - Rib Eye cooked perfectly and the traditional sides to share.  The waiter was excellent and witty.  Steakhouses (good ones) have learned how to describe their beef as though they were still alive and part of family tradition.  Never take a recommendation from a server who has to look at the menu when you ask what's great on the menu.

I recommend checking this place out, especially if you have to feed customers.

A normal steakhouse. Not bad just not thrilling. Would rather go to a couple other places for steak if I'm gonna spend the money. Just not a very creative menu.

This is the best dinner meal in Dallas.   They have consistently put out a full dinner worthy of being called a meal.   My most recent visit included a Lobster Bisque that was smooth and rich, with small pieces of lobster.  The Main course was Filet Mignon and a Crab Cake.  The Filet was cooked exactly to my order, but what makes this dinner exceptional is what comes with it.  While other restaraunts always charge for every little side, the standard dinner at III Forks includes Mashed potatoes or New Potatoes,  Creamed Off the cob Corn,  Fresh sliced tomatoes, Green Onions and snap peas.   When they ask if you want gravy, say YES.  You will not get a better dinner at this level of Fine Dining Restaraunt.

If Texas is steak heaven then I must have take a wrong detour.

Business brought me to Dallas and with that hopes that I would get to relive my juicy steak memories of trips past.  Alas, this was not to be it.  III Forks was a bit of indulgence for me considering that I am trying to stay on a budget but with my expense account cushioning me from the brunt of it, I decided to just go for it.  I almost went to Saltgrass, which was closer and cheaper.

The restaurant is what you would expect of a fancy steakhouse - decorated in excess with fancy curtains and gold trim on all their paintings.  I was very much excited by the time I sat down.  The wine list itself was very impressive and I ended up sticking to their by the glass selection, which was pretty limited.  Still, the Chilean Pinot Noir I had was very good.

In choosing the steak, I knew I was going to get a ribeye but I was given a choice on this night as they had a rib-eye special.  The waiter informed me that the marbling on the steak was better than the one on their menu so I went for it.

Sadly, there wasn't very much marbling unless you call gigantic strips of fat on the side "marbling."  That usually doesn't bother me but what did it was the amount of tendons in the meat.  It ended up making the whole steak hard to cut with my steak knife and even tougher on the mouth.  I got tired of chewing.

It was a giant steak and I only finished about half of it but I think I enjoyed my creamed corn more than the meat.  The peas that came with it were also undercooked - raw.  It was a little sad for a meal that was going to be my dining highlight of the month.

The meal came out to be about $100 a person and we didn't order appetizers.  My friend commented that her steak was good but the lobster tail that accompanied it was a bit dry.

All in all, I really expect that when I pay a price, that I get at LEAST something average but in the end, all I got was something worse than what I could have made at home.

I will avoid this place.

Phenomenal steakhouse.  Entrees come in all sizes, so don't worry about having to pay for or eat 450 ozs of beef in a single sitting.

Absolutely the best new york steak and ribeye in all of TX, AZ and CO.

Pricey, yes.  Extensive wine selection, yes.  3-4 hour dinner, yes.  But the time goes by quickly because you are enjoying every moment of this overpriced experience.

This place is always packed, always busy and famous for a reason.

50 ounces of beef... it's what's for dinner.

Hands down the best steakhouse in Dallas.  Why should you believe me when this is a debate that has raged for years?  Here's just one reason.  Lots of out of town sales people come to Dallas to see me, and the majority of sales people that fly in ask to go to III Forks.  These are people from NYC, LA, SF, you name it.  They all insist it's better than anything they have at home, and have also been to Bob's, N9NE, Nick/Sam's, etc around town.  This is their favorite.

Not only are the steaks flavorful in the right way, but they melt when you cut them.  Moreso than the other places around town.  Second, it's not a la carte, so for your $35-40 plate you get creamed corn, tomatoes, onions, mashed 'tatos, and snow peas.  You don't have to have all those, but they're included.

Desserts are one area they lack.  The desserts they have are good for what they are but it's like the dessert chef is not a dessert fan.  Meaning not lots of overly sweet chocolaty, caramel, cinnamon, brown sugar-based things that keep you up for hours.  Still, the bread pudding is addictive and well worth enjoying its consumption.

My favorite steak place in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I only get the rib eye steaks cooked medium rare. III fork's steaks are seasoned well with salt, pepper, a little bit of sugar and a few other spices I could not figure out, and for my taste the best flavor. Del Frisco's has a peppery flavor to it and the Silver Fox had a bland taste to it.
The decor is nice and very spacious with their various rooms. The wait staff is very nice and professional and accommodated me as I was having to catch a fight out and made sure my friend and I had enough time to eat in a relaxing manner.

I have taken a few friends their annually for Christmas and they enjoyed the food. A friend of mine ordered their fish which was from Norway and he was very pleased.

Side dishes come with the meal and are not ala cart.

Price is $$$

I always glanced over at Three Forks when I drove home from work, and ironically I finally tried it when I moved away from Dallas.  The decor is a little "traditional" but there is an interesting area further to the left, where it feels like a patio with fountains and foliage - but it's not (thank goodness for air conditioning).

The service was great, but the food was...okay.  I liked the seafood medley because the crabcake was excellent, but the shrimp were only so so (and they need to clean out the poo - sorry, but it's true.  Yick.  Yes, rhyme unintended.)

The lobster bisque was too salty and rich for me, but the first few spoonfuls were good.  The side dishes were great but they were so ridiculously filling, I could barely eat 1/3 of my filet.  The steak was great, and the creme brulee was tasty but I've had many other great places that were slightly better.

All in all - high expectations but remained par for the course.

I've eaten steaks everywhere (trust me on this).  I've eaten steaks at all the top named steak houses from Manhattan to DC to Chicago to Dallas/Ft Worth, and 3-Forks has the best steaks I've ever had.  Their aging process gets it just right.  My compliments.

Great atmosphere.  I like the little touches: Guitarist up front singing quiet cowboy tunes.  The lady with a platter of fresh sliced tomatoes moving from table to table. And my favorite - the lady with the silver tea pot full of gravy for your mashed potatoes.  "Want some gravy?"  Nice touch.  Good salads.

3-Forks has different rooms that impart different atmospheres.  From very formal to open and airy.  They used to have an enclosed patio area for after dinner drinks and cigars, but now they've made that area for dinning.  Too bad, it was another nice touch.

They have a beautiful private room that seats about 20.  When my sons get married, that's where we'll have the rehearsal dinner.  Very classy, yet comfortable.

Try it.  You won't be disappointed.
