You expect the worst when you see the unappealing exterior but that is where the whole don't judge a book by its cover thing kicks in.  The excellent service begins with the greeting and doesn't stop.  In my latest visit with some friends it seemed like the waitress was pumped up on happy pills and speed.  Some of the best service I've gotten since Thailand.  But regardless, its that IHOP food that cures hangovers and fills you up for what you spent on a couple beers the night before.  Give the stuffed french toast a shot and tip well.
