8 reviews for Iggy's Sports Grill
Iggy's is a sports bar without the bar atmosphere. If I want to go watch a Jazz or Utes game but have my underage friends in tow, this is pretty much the only place I consider. Iggy's has a huge menu, which always makes it hard for me to decide what to get! The burgers are my favorite, but their pastas are pretty great as well. The seating is great and you always have a good view of the TV's. The whole restaurant just feels comfortable, I hate going to sports bars only to be crammed into a miniature booth and have to listen to loud mouth drunk-asses right next to me.
I think the waiting staff could use some etiquette updates on how to treat their diners when there is a game on. They are quick to ask you if you want your check once the plates are cleared, but I came to watch the game and I intend to stay til I'm done. However, I can understand how the waiters must feel considering how a lot of people in Utah tip. If you intend to stay through an entire game and keep ordering food, tip generously! Great job for Iggy's, love this place.
Have to say I was pretty disappointed with this place. After seeing billboards plastered all around I was a little excited to try it. Hate to say it came up a little short.
First off the atmosphere was alright for a "sports bar." There are defintely better places that define that. The service was pretty good, though it was the early lunch hour, but the food was not all that. I had the prime rib sandwich and the meat was so bland. It looked and tasted like a processed piece of beef that was slapped on the skillet after I ordered it. Maybe I should have stuck with a burger. The fries are the only thing that saved that meal and even those.... (((sigh)))
Just not the greatest "sports bar" that SLC has to offer. I mighttt try it again next time in SLC.
This place doesn't know what it wants to be but somehow it works. The best way to describe it is 'Cheesecake Factory with big ass TVs in the bar'. Except for a few tasteful sports related arty items, the theme of this place would be 'whatever is showing on the big ass TVs.' This is clearly a sports restaurant and bar that was conceived by people who don't really care that much about sports one way or the other. The place lacks commitment. However, the TVs are great and they do have a unique thing where you can get a speaker that will give you the sound portion of the channel you are interested in. So it's an odd feel here but somehow, they pull it off.
And just when I thought I figured out the bizarre liquor laws here, there's a new twist. I can take 'we disapprove of liquor, go back to the United States'. I can even take 'this is a private club. Give us $5 to be a member for the evening.' But 'we're licensed as a restaurant so you have to buy food to buy a beer' seemed random. It strains credibility. Utah, if you disapprove of drinking, have the guts to disapprove. The strategy of wanting the money so badly that you're willing to take it but look down your nose, well, it lacks commitment.
Great service but typical sports bar chain type food. If you want to watch a football game though it would be great as they have several well placed huge screen tvs. Nothing special. I am from out of town so was surprised to see a place like this in SLC. I might go back but wouldn't make a special effort.
After wandering around the Saturday market, I was sweltering hot and needed a break from the heat, so I walked across the street and tried Iggy's. I've been hearing about this new location since it opened a short while ago, so decided to try it, and I phoned my bff who lives a few blocks away downtown, and she joined me. I had the 1/2 sandwich Philly Cheesesteak, with onion rings and a giant refillable fresh lime rickey. They start you with a loaf of soft bread with clear sweet red chili dipping sauce (mmm!). My friend had a small salad and an order of teriyaki potstickers.
I love the ambience there - easy access downtown, with Bonus free parking, large space with lots of comfy private booths, nice lighting, amazing huge plasma screens all over and friendly servers, its a great spot. Trust me, I'm not a sports fanatic, but I'd heard this was fun. Lucky for us, the sports TVs were on, but the sound turned way down. The Philly and rings were kinda just ok, but the teriyaki potstickers were the winner - they were excellent. but there was a LOT of things I wanted to come back for, its a big menu.
My friend and I enjoyed ourselves, talking and catching up, and no one rushed us, and we were there for hours. Excellent service. The comfortable feeling in here and great servers will make me return - I really liked this place.
Get your fill of Americana! Burgers, Beer, and Sports...Argh, Grunt Argh! We love the beer fries, and drenching them in that spicy orange pepper oil. Super Yum! Burgers are hit and miss, but we have favorites. I always love the Manhattan (Pastrami), and the Blue Cheese Burgers. Ummm, hmmm!
Sometimes the noise of the evening game can be a bit loud (well we were there the night of the Stanley Cup Final), but they turned it down after the game was over so that was nice.
There's always plenty of free underground parking, which is good being that it's in downtown.
If you ran out of option or you live in the homewood suites then Iggy's is a good choice but I would to voluntarily choose to eat here.
The atmosphere is the best part of the restaurant, relaxed and friendly.
The food is kinda bad, its not terrible, but its kinda bad. Their pizza and sandwiches are worth a try but stay away from the mandarin salad. Oh, and its kinda expensive for what it is.
What a wierd place. But then again, it is in Utah.
It looks like a pumped up IHOP with big screens. Really wierd.
Service sucked, food was just "ok", prices were VERY high for a place like this.
Do not go unless nothing else is around.
