This is my favorite pizza in Baltimore ... no, actually it is my favorite pizza anywhere.  I moved to Charm City from New York and I had no idea that I would find pizza of this quality.  The crust is thin and crispy, the toppings are fresh and locally sourced, the service (at lunch) is personable, friendly, knowledgeable and courteous, and the pizzas themselves are spectacular.

When the staff is not overwhelmed due to the crush of people at night they truly put out world class pizza.  They are all good, but the Diavola and the current Pizza of the Month (Meatball) are my favorites.  There is a lot of great pizza in Baltimore, but they all must bow down to Iggies!

    "One-of-us. One-of-us."

I'm all aboard the bandwagon in giving Iggies Pizza praise. Though many of my colleagues applaud the Alice ($9.50 sm) pizza and her wonderland of goat cheese, sliced tomato, and fresh spinach leaves, which I agree is pretty tasty on the tongue, a roast duck addiction naturally leads me to the Anatra.

Their Neapolitan pizzas supply a super thin, cracker-like crust with a good chew and big, bubbly, crunchy edges with good char. The Anatra ($9.95 sm) compliments it's crust with cuts of the aforementioned tender duck, fresh, fairly firm chopped asparagus, and bleu cheese bolstered by gooey mozzarella. Fairly potent, but not over the top. Washed down indulging their selections of all natural Izze ($1.95). Rolling in around 1pm avoids the crazy crowds this joint can collect and allows me a frantic free, no fuss, leisurely dining endeavor.

    "One-of-us. One-of-us."

My buds debate whether the practice of having to bus one's own table after shoveling out relatively big bucks for relatively smaller pizza maximizes Iggies' profits. Quelling the cynicism, it's noted all "tips" go to charity. I can live with the yin/yang.

I signed up for the Iggies Cult a bit ago. After recent revisits I'm still a fan.

    "One-of-us. One-of-us. One-of-us."

The only reason I would recommend anyone to eat here is for the purpose of having a story to tell and laugh about your entire life. There were 4 of us who blindly decided to eat here because of  the 5 star yelp and baltimore reviews.
We've always found yelp to be helpful in the past but last night it really led us astray.
For any Seinfeld fans out there may the vision of a screaming cook and eating in fear of the soup nazi be in the back of our mind for this entire review, because that is a christmas tale compared to the iron fist at this place.
Let me just stop the rambling and tell you this, eat someplace else. Minus the cashier the entire staff including the manager, owner, cook, dining room attendant were all so rude that no amount of taste in the world could make up for it. The owner/manger basically is a control freak who condescends with a great big smile.
We ate there last night and can't stop talking about how horrible it was. We have told everyone we know about how bad the food was and how bad we were treated there.
For the record, lets touch base on the food, the pizza was burnt, overpriced and had no flavor, the staff didn't hide being insulted that we asked for garlic powder and/or parm cheese which is pretty standard in a pizza place, but not this one..because they are so wrapped up in being above it all that the only thing you get in this place is attitude. Its BYOB and consider that when I tell you there were 4 of us and it was over $100. Please if you want good pizza that is less mainstream go right down the street to Joe Square OR skip that and order in from Egyptian Pizza.
This place is horrible, I don't give one stars lightly. I wouldn't eat there again if it were free of charge, it was the most uncomfortable dining experience of my entire life.
After one horrible minute after another at this place the STAFF reminded us "don't forget to buss your table ladies"....U'm thanks can we get out of our chairs first, Do I wok here or did I just pay $100 for Pita Pizza here? I don't know. I left there feeling
like I was in a bad relationship. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF....don't buy into the 3,4,5 star reviews or the person at the corner cafe who said they got a great pizza there....this place sucks and if the food was bad at least the people there could have made it better but it was only what I can imagine eating in prison feels like....
The cook yells at you when you pick your pizza, the owner will TELL you to move three times while you frantically  wait for your table, the staff will remind you not to take too many napkins, reuse your glass and then you are told to buss your own table....what a horrible way to end a Friday night after a long work week, spending $100 to work more.....NO THANKS! this place is designed the same as five guys burgers the only difference is five guys have signs on the walls thanking their customers and their employees don't yell at you....

Well first off I must say, parking in this area can be a nightmare... but anyways onto the food...

We initially ordered a large pie, half Alice and the other half being Margherita. This is a no frills establishment, so we had to pick up the order at the counter and clean up after ourselves. The pizza itself was very satisfying and you could tell that there was a definite sense of caring that was put into it. But I guess it was missing that extra "wow" factor so I can't give it 5 stars. The Alice was a bit heavy with toppings and complex in taste, but I think after trying both halves of the pie we were left with a positive impression of how pizza is crafted here.

After completely demolishing the first pie, we opted for another large Margherita which satiated our hunger.

    Horrible Experience
Iggies has ok pizza, very high prices, and very rude staff.  They attempt to have a casual atmosphere, but they are amazingly uptight about where you can and can't sit.  After being told that my party was not allowed to move any tables so we could sit together, we were told to go elsewhere by the cook after he suspected us of moving tables while we stood in the dining room and discussed what we wanted to do.  We informed the owner of the cook's rude behavior and she did not care at all to rectify the situation.  We had amazing pizza, atmosphere and service at nearby Joe Squared.

Went tonight with 5 buds. Don't remember it being so tasty. Perfect crust for my taste. Tried the large Alice (pesto, spinach, tomato) and Margherita. Buds also shared 2 smalls - the pear gorgonzola and the pizza of the month - polpetti sweet and sour. Shared a caesar salad with 1 friend; it was plenty. Sooo good :)

Prices are high, but the quality *almost* makes up for it.  Take $1 or $2 off the prices and I would have NO complaints.

You have to carry your pizza back to your table with these sketchy clamp things.  For the price I'm paying, I'd rather have someone else bring it to me so I don't have to worry about dropping my expensive thin crust pizza.  Especially in a crowded place that doesn't have much space to navigate through without a pizza to carry.

It's good, but I don't see myself going back any time soon.

My husband and I have just moved to the area and have already dined at Iggies multiple times. I will start off by saying that we love byob restaurants! This is a great place to bring friends and family for an filled of good food, drinks and times.

The salad with the pistachio and red pepper vinaigrette is amazing!!! We have thoroughly enjoyed the variety of pizzas, our favorite being the Brussels sprout, chestnut and pancetta pizza. A super close second is the patata pizza with potatoes. Mmmm just writing this review is making my mouth water. Thank goodness we are going tomorrow!

You have to get your own plates, cups, silverware and bus your own table...but who cares??? It is well worth every bite :-)

Iggies, Iggies. I was so looking forward to you. I heard good things, and wanted to try something new so one night we called and ordered an "Italiano" pizza, $17 for a large. A bit much annnddd downward from here. There was no pepperoni anywhere on the menu, nor do they deliver. I did not know it was, as I like to call it, a 'fancy' pizza place. Where they only have thin crust and so called "fresh" ingredients. It wasn't anything to write home about. We wouldn't have ordered if we knew about the thin charred crust beforehand. Alas, we were hungry and ate most of the small portioned, slightly burnt, thin crust Italiano pizza.
Outside of Iggies on the sidewalk there are tables and chairs you can sit at and eat. I haven't been in side, and probably won't be going back since their pizza just isn't my thing. Oh well!

Iggies has a great casual, comfortable atmosphere. The pizzas are all really good but I wouldn't be able to gobble any of them down by myself. Not that they're huge--my palate just finds the flavors get tired really quickly. Of course the best thing is the BYOB rule, which was a genius move on the part of the owners.  It's the perfect place for a Friday get together with friends or a date.

Despite all this, I don't like going to Iggies. There is a woman who works there (all the time, so she might be the owner) who never smiles and is always super curt. One time we waited almost 30 minutes for a table (it was a group of 5 so harder to accommodate) before finally deciding to just make a to-go order. Less than 15 seconds later, a table opens up but she wouldn't let us switch our to-go order because "she'd already given the table away" even though no one sat there until our pizza was finished baking (about 7 minutes).

    Meh...

Iggie's is a weird place.  You bus your own table, which is fine with me.  Unfortunately some guys sitting by me left ~a napkin and a cup~ which pissed off the counter girl so much, she insisted I identify the perpetrators so that she could mete out the appropriate justice.  Seriously?  What is the point?  Of course I took the 5 seconds to clean it up for them.  So Iggy's-- can I have my tip back, since I did your job for you?

Absolutely excellent.  The place itself has a cool vibe, kind of laid back without being grungy.  The right kind of classy for me.

Inside, there's no waiter service.  That's right, you get your ass up and you order from the register.  Not only that, you pick up your order with the pan grips (provided, thankfully) and teeter over to your table, trying not to drop 16 bucks of pizza on the floor.

Then you enjoy.  The Alice and the Italiano were out of control good.  The Italiano was a hit at my table, sorry Yelpers.  The artichokey-cheesy coating was enough to make you cry tears of creamy joy.

Oh, and it's byob.  No corkage fee, nuttin.  Really, it's hard to get better than that.

I don't know why Baltimore yelpers are so in love with this place.

I thought pizza was OK but there was nothing special about it. The dough has pleasant flavor but could use more salt.

I wanted to go for something on the simpler side to see what they could do with the basics. We had the salsiccia and I found it underwhelming ... there wasn't enough cheese, the sauce didn't taste particularly fresh, and it was under seasoned.

Perhaps we missed the point of the place by not doing a more unique pizza but c'mon...if you can't get the basics, I'm not going to trust you with more advanced flavors.

I used to come here a lot but I found better pizza places in Baltimore so I go elsewhere (like Matthew's and Bagby's).  Their pizzas are served on a thin yet still chewy crust.  On my most recent visit, I ordered their pizza with ground beef on top and tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese melted on top.  It was good, but not was delicious as other places I go to.  I like their ambience though, very neighborhood friendly.

Okay so don't get me wrong- I like Iggies, its just seems a bit overrated. The pizza is decent, and they have some interesting pies that are unique with exciting exotic ingredients.

Its pretty expensive for pizza, and I feel like its justified by making the ingredients sound even more exotic than they are (not just 'spinach' but 'organically raised pure-bred spinach grown by blind amish folk on a farm less than five miles away and transported via environmentally friendly bike instead of truck')

That said, the environment is a lot of fun; BYOB is great; and their friendly attitude toward dogs is welcome. I've been there a few times, and will keep going in the future.

I shared the Italiano and the Alice with my fam.  Both pizzas were really good.  Beer and pizza is an amazing combination.

This is a great little pizza place that I wish I had known about sooner! I had the Italian which was really good, and tried the pear one (can't remember the name) and it was a little overwhelmed by the cheese. Busy on the weekends, but it does offer outside seating, which is nice. Noticed many BYOB's, which I could get behind. The people here are awesome, normal, laid back, not typical for downtown Sat night crowd.
I would have given more stars had they offered a more appetizing pie with marinara. Sm pie = $10, Lg = $15.

This is the place for a good time with friends, unbelievable pizza, and BYOB. I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this place- it's clean, service is busy yet friendly, it's dog (and iguana according to a posed pic) friendly, they have a take and cook at your house option, and then there is the actual pizza...
The menu is short, but the creativity placed in the combination of ingredients is out of this world. The ingredients are top notch- nothing that I encountered appeared anything but top of the line or made from scratch.
While I have an adventurous palate, when trying new pizza places I often revert to old favorites before going all in and ordering a crazy pie- just to make sure that I trust the place. My husbands and my first sampling of Iggie's saw us sharing 2 small pizzas- the Italiana (my pick), a pesto-based traditional Kalamata and oven-dried tomato pie, and the Salsiccia (sp?)- a pie topped with sausage and fennel. The crusts we thin and crispy, with a perfect golden char, and the flavors were amazing. I've now sampled many of their pizzas, and not a one has disappointed.
I appreciate the fact that they use multiple types of cheeses instead of slapping Mozzarella on everything and calling it a day. Talegio, Ricotta, Asiago, Parmigiana, Fontina, Gorgonzola, and goat cheese are all used along with Mozzarella, and the care taken to ensure great combinations shines through.
The wait can be a little long, but it is very worth it. And who doesn't love a place with a wall with pictured of  their 4-legged clientele?

This place is AWESOME. One year when my boyfriend and my Valentine's Day plans fell through, we went here, grabbed a few pies, a bottle of wine from around the corner, and the night was SAVED!

The pizza is amazing and I love that it's BYOB and they go out of their way to make it convenient for you by providing glasses and bottle openers. Fantastic!

Try the "Alice" pizza. But, I must warn you. It may ruin all other pizzas for you. No joke. :)

Love the toppings and slight chew to the thin crusted pizzas.  Faves are the pear/gorgonzola/balsamic reduction (love the sweet fruit and sweet-tart balsamic with pungent blue cheese) and the Alice (rich goat cheese and herby punch of basil pesto with lots of garlic).  Funghi (mushroom ragu a little wet and a little bland) and Anatra (chewy gamy duck, stinky blue cheese, and earthy asparagus , not really a good combo; competing flavors) sound better than they are. Little bit of a pizza nazi feel when you place your orders at the counter,  make sure you know what you want before step up to the counter and bother the "server" (who doesn't really serve you at all). The rustic, communal, serve-yourself setting can be quaint, if there's plenty of room, but a pain when they're busy.

Before this review, Iggies Pizza had been rated 5 stars by 60 different reviewers on Yelp.  Yes, I counted each one.

Congrats Iggies, you now have 5-star review #61.

Iggies Pizza, located in the Mount Vernon neighborhood, has been around for the past five years.  Why I wasn't informed of this phenomenal restaurant earlier; I have no idea.  Here's what I do know: the best thin-crust pizza I have ever tasted currently resides at Iggies.  The fresh ingredients used to decorate each pizza pie make for a great treat.

The first ever pizza I wanted to try out was the Diavola, which is equipped with spicy sausage, tomato ragu, four cheeses, olives, and hot peppers.  This pizza was rated as the Pizza of the Year for 2009 and I could see why.  The pizza was nicely baked and had a great taste.  Even though I only got a small (8") pizza, I still shared a slice with the folks.

After I ate the Diavola, I still felt that something was missing from giving Iggies 5 stars off the bat.  I decided that I was going to go back, the very next day.  That's right: the VERY next day.  This time, however, I ordered the Italiana pizza, the Pizza of the Year for 2010.  The minute I shoved the first slice of pizza in my mouth, I was sold.  Done deal, it's alllll overrrrrr (UFC reference).  Also to add, this pizza was NOT shared, at all.  That pizza got devoured in less than 10 minutes.  The Italiana might be my new favorite pizza for the moment.  I got to try out the Vanilla Bean Gelato (1 scoop for $3.25) as well, and it was pretty good.

The two times that I have been to Iggies so far have been in the afternoon, so I can't really talk about coming here at a busy time.  Also, I didn't have a problem with the service.  As a matter of fact, Jessica was excellent, both times.  Big plus for the customer service.

As far as the prices, I can understand why some reviewers might bulk at some of the prices.  The small Diavola pizza came to $9.95, while the Italiana was $9.50.  I'll put it like this: it's worth it.  Period.  Have no regrets.  Oh yeah, it's a BYO.  That should be enough right there for you to maneuver on down to the spot.  So go, and go soon.

Not sure what else I can contribute to reviews, but I gotta say, it's great living near such an awesome spot.

I'm not usually a fan of thin crust pizzas (which is all you can get at Iggies) but their toppings make the pizzas worth the 5-star rating.

The pizza of the months can sometimes be a bit unconventional (my first pizza of the month contained pumpkin and sausage) but they're a great way for you to discover new flavor possibilities. One of my favorite pizza of the month selections made it's way onto the regular menu and for that I am eternally grateful. Imagine, a white pizza with pistachio nuts and onions. Sounds weird, tastes great.

Sure, some may scoff at the menu selections, and claim that real pizzerias have a pepperoni pizza topping, but with one bite it seems most skeptics are silenced.

    Oh, and yeah. BYOB rocks.

I went with a large group and we ended up getting about 6-7 large pizzas which resulted in a great sampler meal. The pizza crust is amazing. Almost like a tandoori naan, crisped to perfection and topped with an amazing combination of ingredients. The tomatoes were so fresh they were still juicy when they came out of the oven, unlike the dry mass we find in conventional pizza. It is BYOB which is a great idea for a large group; they are also really nice about chilling your beer/ wine.
It might be a little expensive to go by yourself, but is strongly recommended if you have a group. The Anatra and the Alice are to die for.

Iggies was the very first place I ate when I moved to Baltimore, and I've never been disappointed since. Its a fun, casual atmosphere (BYOB helps), and the pizza is really creative and tasty. I'm a native New Yorker and total pizza snob, but Iggies does their own thing and they do it well. I love the super thin crust - the Alice is my favorite pizza, but I recently got the Veggie Verdura and that was a close contender.

My bosses took me here for lunch when I interned at The Sun.

Afterwards, um I thanked them a lot, because I probably would have never gone here otherwise.

Three of us split two bigger pizzas (funghi and the pear one) and nommmmm nom. We got salads, too, and even they were way above average. Fresh chickpeas and just, really unique.

BYOB is awesome, though their drink/soda selection is awesome enough already.

I like the service idea that you deal with it  yourself. It's a good place to go if you want a restaurant experience without the hustle and bustle of waiters/how much tip/etc. Their signs, while kinda harsh (like about the salt and moving chairs) are awesome. 'Cause I mean, sometimes you just need to tell it like it is. No beating around the bush.

In the end: nom. Their stuff is really good.

I'm really impressed so far with the food in Baltimore and Iggies is yet another shining example of Charm City's fine cuisine.

We went with everyone's favorite pizza --Alice.  Only tried take-out so I can't comment on ambiance or anything of the sort, but the pizza is de-lish.  Though admittedly it's a bit small (even for a "large"), it's big on taste so I can't complain.  A thin crust pizza topped with wonderfully fresh and flavorful ingredients: pesto, mozzarella, tomatoes, garlic, spinach, goat cheese, and parmesan.  This pizza is locked, loaded, and ready to blow your taste buds away.

Now, despite the pizza being thin crust and purely vegetarian, it is incredibly oily.  Not that you'll care, since it's so darn tasty.  What you should really worry about is, why didn't I order more??

    FABULOUS!

Pizza was amazing (Alice was phenomenal) and it's BYOB.  Everything is self-serve.. you order your pizza up front and you 'set' your own table.  Pretty hip place.

Went on a Saturday night and it was packed... but once we got seated we cracked a few bottles of wine and had a good time.

    Definitely will be going back!

The quattro formaggi is now the cinque formaggi (one more cheese, woohoo!) and is still as yummy as ever.  I say this as someone who never appreciated thin crust pizzas prior to Iggie's.  Why have they never won Best of Baltimore, sooooo much better than Joe Squared.

This is probably one of the BEST pizza places i;ve ever been too. the crust is perfect, the ingredients are fresh and you can tell they put a lot of love into the food. The atmosphere is great and its BYOB which can make for a really good setting for a dinner with friends. My favs are the diavola, the alice and the magherita (i like to add the sopresseta) :) enjoy!

YUM!!! i live around the block and i feel lucky that i do! the people that work there are really nice (even the guy that yells your name and number when your order is ready :) )  I went there last night with a friend and we order the Iggies Salad, antipasto salad, and a pizza.  It was all delicious! We both decided that we would not return again without ordering the antipasto salad it was that awesome! (comes with a few types of meat, two types of cheese...including fresh mozz, garbonzo beans, roasted red peppers, fresh olives, and bread sticks ...YUMMY).

All the pizzas look so great every time we go that it is often difficult to make a decission...but i have never been disappointed :) Another great thing about this place is that it is BYOB. they provide glasses and bottle openers for you to use and have buckets of ice for you beer and wine.

There is always a line when i go...but it seems to move realitvely fast :) seems like they have a good system going.

all in all its a great place to go for dinner or lunch for that matter..o and you can bring your dog to joing you for dinner (we did last night!!)

The only issue with this place is the owner. She was terrible and had a very nasty unwelcoming attitude which made even the food tastes as bad as she was. Even one of her employees confirmed to us how terrible she is with them. And no there was NO reason at all for her terrible behavior towards us.

    Very disappointed with this place...

Pizzas are good but overpriced. Margherita pizza is a classic and is done  well. Salsiccia is good but nothing special. Anatra is very good.

Personality, this place has it.  Never have I seen a combination like this.  BYOB, dog friendly, and a voice you will never forget when your pizza is ready.  I tried 3 of their pizzas and they were all good.  Can't say it was the best pizza I ever ate but it's damn close.  Here's what we ordered:  Italiano, Alice, and the Diavola.  I believe two of these were pizzas of the year and the other one was pizza of the month, accolades were deserving.   I'm sure you can't go wrong here.
