Ice Palace should really only get 3 stars but as it's the only place in Hawaii that you can skate on ice, it gets an extra star from me! If you grew up in Hawaii you've visited Ice Palace for school trips, summer fun, birthday parties and adolescent mayhem. There is nothing cooler (and weirder) than skating on ice when you're a kid growing up in year round 80 degree weather.
The Ice Palace has an arcade, snack bar (because you've got to have hot cocoa & nachos!) and a gear shop. It is really fun when you're a kid because the DJ will play all kinds of music and games, and you can skate by the cute boys you like while pretending you don't notice them at all. Not so much fun when you're an adult surrounded by little screaming children and awkward pre-teens. The ice is really hard but it's the only ice rink in Hawaii so we'll all have to suck it up!
If you have little kids or don't know how to skate they have little trainer walkers (I call them granny walkers) that you can use on the ice to help you balance. I'm excited to take my 5 year old here because he is going to FREAK out!
I have always wanted to ride on the Zamboni and then have Adam Sandler start singing to me like in "The Wedding Singer." One can dream...

Cons: The ice is really hard and not smooth at all. And there is a sign for no jumps or spins during public sessions.
Pros: Snack bar and plenty of seating for parents.
Four stars, if you're a kid. Three stars, if you're an adult. This rink totally caters to children - birthday parties, video games, public session games,... It can get pretty crazy, try to go when the kids are in school or early in the day.

ok ok ok it was my first time there last night and it was for a special engagement [anton glamb and alygator performance] [ON ICE!] but holy shit you guys... the photo booth is only TWO DOLLARS!! cheese pizza is like $3. at the movie theaters i've been shelling out like $6 for pizza.
never again!
so ya, the ice is hard to skate on because i can't ice skate but whatever man... nobody was looking good out there skills wise. i love it when they go from dark and sexy to super bright. everyone looks good in that light, man. the bright is too bright to really see.
the video games are DOPE too. they have this drum skills game with plastic drum sticks... and some other stuff. i dunno. it's just the best place ever. bring a LOT of your friends and your cameras because it's a colorful place. oh, they don't allow cameras on the actual ice, so bring your elph.
i'm going back here, like tomorrow. maybe for my lunch break.

bleh. it's aight for the kids, but my big ol' butt...? nah, falling on it ain't so good.
they have those ol' lady walkers, but my ol' lady back was killing me afterwards!
the kids loved it, but i don't understand why. i mean, when are you FINALLY going to realize that you've been going in circles for the past 3 hours????

Any kid who had to endure through the public elementary school system of the State of Hawaii undoubtedly knows about ice palace and looked forward to the day of their IP field trip each and every school year. This place brings back fond memories: spraying ice, greasy pizza, and street fighter 2, all under one roof.
