OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have some yummylicious ice cream...!!! I drove from Gresham, OR, twice just to get the same shake that I fell in love with.

Staff is amazing...this place is totally worth the drive if you go to Portland.

Cannot wait to go again!!!

I live in Portland, and it's definitely worth the commute to go check this place out.

The Icecream is local, fresh and some of the best I've had.

I was surprised when I went inside...they seat you like at a restaurant and you order off a menu.  The service was great, the waitstaff was helpful, and the atmosphere was really fun but laid back at the same time.

I had a warm brownie with a scoop of peanut butter blitz icecream on top.  it was heaven.  They also have sorbet, locally made pie, and custom creations for those who can't decide exactly what they want.

Try it. You will love it!

Ummmm, pure yum.

My local friend, Pete, introduced me to this little gem and boy was I excited. Since we are geologists, we obviously ordered the Mt. St. Helens and two chocolate chip cookies and oh my goodness. One of the best ice cream treats I've ever enjoyed.

The place is really cute and the waitresses/waiters are super nice. I would definitely recommend stopping here for a delicious treat after a movie or dinner or really anytime. So good.

I've driven here from Seattle for ice cream...and i don't really like to drive.

Things you should know: Good espresso. Free wi-fi. Intense, delicious ice cream. Open late by 'Couv standards: 9pm during the week, 11pm Friday and Saturday. Prices include tax to avoid confusing Oregonians.  Service is top-notch. Bathrooms are impeccably clean. Seriously, i don't generally note bathrooms, but the cleanliness here suggests an attention to detail that deserves a nod.

As for why the ice cream is seriously worth a trip from Seattle...or, heck, i've gotten here via public transit from Tualatin, which is about as epic a journey...it's all good, but the vanilla ice cream is the best test of a place and ICR's is memorable. It's not overpoweringly sweet, it's not exceedingly creamy, it has a smooth texture, and the vanilla flavor starts off subtle and hits you like a train. The chocolate's great, the strawberry even better, but a great ice cream joint has great vanilla ice cream and ICR exemplifies both this rule and how to do vanilla ice cream.

Is it the rebirth of the late, lamented Holland? No. It's better.

I love all the flavors and how all the ice creams and sorbets seem to have this perfect homemade texture to them.  They have many varieties of sundaes, splits, and other ice cream confections.  The best thing on the menu is the "guilt free" selection that lets you have 3 small scoops of ice cream plus a cookie or 4 scoops without a cookie.  I always forget the cookie and just get 4 ice cream flavors.  Their seasonal flavors are great, and the ones on the menu are just as delicious.  I especially love the bittersweet chocolate and the coffee ice creams.  And, it's totally affordable.

Yummy, homemade, unique ice cream treats. 'Nuff said.

(Oh, and the art and music and local color is pretty sweet, too.)

Homemade ice cream made by a local vendor - really as good as it gets!  I love coming here in the summer because they have really lovely seasonal flavors - ie blueberry (a nice deep purple with blueberry skins throughout - intense blueberry flavor bursts over your tongue!).  And their old-fashioned chocolate flavor tastes like chocolate milk married the thickest fattest milkshake on the block and had a creamy smooth ice cream baby.  It's really the best chocolate ice cream (dramatic pause) I've ever had (followed by a slight nod of the head for emphasis).  The store itself is really inviting, with cool art on the walls that isn't so abstract that it hurts your head, but it's still edgy enough to be cool without trying too hard.  And the staff is always friendly.

The only thing bad thing I have to say about this place is that it's in downtown Vancouver, which is known for its wanna-be-hipsters-who-wear-skinny-jeans-and-have-m op-haircuts-and-listen-to-bands-with-one-word-name s-but-still-are-as-fake-as-the-next-guy-once-you-g et-to-know-them. So beware of those people. Just focus on the ice cream and you're all set.

This place is great for a variety of reasons. Right off the bat, the atmosphere is pleasant and the service amazing. Their menu is creative and the flavors offered lead to salivation. Occasionally they have music on Saturdays (I think) and the overall feel of the place is warm and inviting.

The ice cream here is fantastic. It is rich and creamy and perfect. I've tried the Mt. St. Helens- a literal mountain of honey vanilla ice cream erupting lava-like raspberry syrup with walnut boulders and cocoa powder ash. It is an incredibly well-orchestrated creation to say the very least. My other favorite option here is the Indecision Scoop (or scoops). This item on the menu is tantalizing because you are at the mercy of the ice cream artists. They create sculptures! While visiting here, I've enjoyed my ice ream in the form of an octopus, squirrels, an airplane and two teddy bears.

Honestly, this is what eating ice cream should be. Visit this eclectic shop and you won't regret it.

Awesome ice cream, treats, pie, etc..

My favorite is peanut butter ice cream w/ chocolate sauce.  Why mess with perfection?

The renaissance never tasted so good!

This is the best ice cream in the Portland metropolitan area.  Hands Down.  The service is top notch.  The place is clean and has a great trendy vibe (I know what you are thinking... "Vancouver? Trendy"  Get out!"  But it reall;y is the best reason to venture across the river).

The reason you go here is for the ice cream. It is unbelievable.  Homemade.  Creamy, not too hard, not too soft.  Minimalist, but in the best way possible.  All the dishes are great, but I especially like the Boticelli Brownie and Mt. St. Helens.  Yes, they are a bit pricey at $6-$15 for ice cream, but they are oh so worth it!

WARNING:  Once you go there, you will be hooked!

Mmmmmmmmm...

Located in downtown Vancouver, Ice Cream Renaissance is a swell place to satisfy your sweet tooth.  The ice cream is homemade with a modest selection of classic flavors and a variety of special creations that change from time to time.  While plain scoops are available, it's fun to browse the menu and try something like the Not So Leaning Tower of Pisa or Mt. St. Helen's.  If you just can't decide, go for the indecision and they will create a custom dessert just for you.  Of course shakes, tea, coffees, or a plain old "Cuppa Joe" are also available.

The art on the walls comes from local artists and students in the area, and the tables look like scrapbook pages dedicated to the great thinkers of the Renaissance.  We sat under the stars that adorned the alcove in the storefront window and read about Galileo while enjoying Dr. Chocolate, a signature creation that will make any chocoholic think they've died and gone to heaven.

Prices are cheap and include tax.  It's a great place for folks of all ages.  Smaller parties are better, but with some rearranging of seats, the shop can accommodate groups.  Wi-Fi is available if you want to work or surf while there.  The staff is young, hip, and attentive.  They are quick to take your order and get your treats out to you, but don't rush you out.  A visit here is a great way to start an afternoon or end an evening!

The best thing about Vancouver.  I mean it.  When I lived there I always brought people I cared about to Ice Cream Renaissance.  I was so excited to share it with them.

This is my new favorite ice cream parlor.  Unlike traditional places like 31 flavors, they treat you like a guest and actually serve you, with menus, water at your table, and helpful wait-staff.

We went in on a Friday evening, and it was quiet but the servers were prompt to get us water and a menu while we looked over the big selection.  We settled on the Officer's Row (many of the options are named after something in Vancouver) so we could sample a variety of flavors.  The ice cream was really good!

We'll definitely be back.

Ice cream and espresso, very roomy, some outside seating, FREE Wi-Fi (but I couldn't get it to work). Open daily until 9pm -- some days even later.

Ice Cream Renaissance has a wonderful staff, great food, and a different and interesting atmosphere. They serve a variety of ice cream flavors along with other traditional desserts. The prices are great for the portions you get; but be prepared. You get a lot for what you pay. One item in particular, the Botticelli Brownie, is a large brownie with two kinds of syrup, three scoops of ice cream, and whip cream and chocolate chips for under 6 bucks. Great for a date or just if you're really hungry for something cold, this place will satisfy even the pickiest sweet tooth.
