Tried this salon in the heart of the GWU world, and close to G town. I had a great eyebrow wax/shaping with Anita, and it was only $15.  Very cute receptionist. Will go back to try other services.

I'd like to add that I got a wax from Anita and I really have nothing to say that hasn't been said.  She was incredibly fast and relatively painless.  I got a "playboy" (WHY DO THEY HAVE TO GIVE THEM THOSE NAMES) and it took less than 10 minutes.  There was no bleeding and very little after burn.  She did something different, which was to dress me in baby powder and told me not to put ANY moisture on it.  That meant no working out, no lotion, no oils, no shower.  I followed her directions and it really seemed to work well!  I'm definitely a fan of the new process.

I will say though, that while it's a darn good wax, this is not the best wax I've ever had.  While it was painless and fast, the speed took from the precision.  She did not trim and there was some hair left that a careful hand would have caught.  Nonetheless, it's an extremely solid standby and I'd recommend it highly.  I might try Skin to compare.

I totally agree, this place cannot be beat for the outcome and price. Have been coming here for a while now, and have always got great service and while other places are hiking up their prices, this place remains the same (e.g., $45 for brazilian).

The waxing services are the best i have had in DC.  One hint, here as with many other places, they do not trim unless you specifically ask. And I really appreciate how courteous and friendly the receptionist are. I just haven't seen this with other places.

They really are firing on all pistons in this place. Still strongly recommend.

by the way, just a note for Sarah T (Skin B Lounge charge $25 for a brow wax versus$15 at Ibiza and Skin B charges $65 for brazilian versus $45 here -  I have always had excellent service at Ibiza, with Anita and Nilou, and my question to Sarah T ..?which technician?; it appears youre advertising more for Skin B versus writing a review for this salon....are you on commission? ;)...

I went here for a Brazilian after the rave reviews, plus its so much closer and less expensive than Skin Beauty Lounge. They really didn't do a good job the first time--lots of hairs left over and no trimming. But since they're rated so highly I went back thinking it was an off day. It wasn't. I'm going back to Skin.

Hands down, for me, this is the only place to get your waxing services in DC. Three reasons, 1. very good results; 2. very good price; and 3. very friendly girls, beginning with the receptionists greetings/farewells and of course the tecnicians (i.e., Nagme and Nilou). AND for first-timers you can print out 10% off from their website ibizadayspa.net.
...end of story.

When I couldn't get in with my usual girl at Bang in Chinatown, I made an appointment for a Brazilian after seeing the reviews on Yelp.  They were able to get me in quickly, so off I went.  As soon as we entered the room, I knew things were going to be different than what I was used to.  As someone else mentioned, we enter the room and she says "Take off your pants."  And that set the tone.  She proceeded to cover the entire area to be waxed all at once.  It was like she was icing a cake!  But she was quick, I'll say that much.  10 minutes and she was done.   But it wasn't until I arrived home that I realized I was still covered in wax!  Luckily I had muslin strips at home and could get it off, but it was a mess!  Back to Bang I go.

Excellent service for facial and brazilian waxing. The first time I actually notice Ibiza was walking down 24th street from my apartment, during my reconnaisance of the neighborhood. Having recently moved here from Conn. I wanted to get a feel of my surroundings.

I checked out the various reviews for different places and checked out pricing.  All in all, 4 stars on yelp and the price list made made my selection to give ibiza a try easy.

I arrived on the day of my appointment about 2 minutes before my time.  The receptionist happened to be the same person who made my appointment the day before, and she was very warm and friendly. I was impressed that she had remembered me, as I made my appointment in person.

After waiting about 5 minutes total, my technician approached me, introduced herself (Anita) and graciously took me back to her room.

The room was immaculately clean (unlike  some places I have been to in the past), spacious, well lit and warmly decorated.  She suggested the brazilian first and the facial to follow and I agreed.  She asked if I would "disrobe", and if she would prefer that she left the room while I took off my pants.  Very thoughtful, but I thought in about 2 minutes you are going to see me like my gyno seems me so what's the difference if I take off my pants in front of you.

I layed down on the bed, and again was thankful that this place doesn't require the all four position (which I don't like and find very weird).

She procceded with the waxing, with a daft touch and I must say, about as painless as this sort of thing can be. (Hint: if its your first time try to trim a down to about 1 1/1 inch or so, otherwise your pain factor goes up tremendously; also take a couple of ibuprofens).

Remarkably, she was done in about 10 minutes and applied some baby power and gave instructions about not being in the sun, and holding off for a couple of days in engaging in extracurricular activities.  Of course, this was not my first time getting a brazilian, but just the same I appreciated the instructions.

She left the room so I could get dressed and came back in about 5 minutest to proceed with the facial.  Right off the bat I have to say, this was by far one of the best, if not the best, facial I have ever received.  She really knows her craft well, and i was so relaxed during the  forehead and scalp rub that i dozed off completely (..i think I may have snored..:) how embarrassing).  My skin was absolutely radiant after all was said and done.

Another thing that I appreciated greatly, is that she did not once try to sell-up or get me to buy products. I did kind of open the door a couple of times when I asked about the products she was using, and each time she provided information on the products (Dermalogica) in a well-informed but matter of fact manner.   Other places i have been to, and sure some of you may attest, invariably try to push products on you.

Anyhow, I did purchase some skin products before i left, because I know dermalogica is pretty good stuff.

I would have readily paid, and have paid over $200 for these services, but here the price tag was barely over a $100 for the combined services.

I would definitely recommend and will certainly go back to try more.

My bikini waxing experience was a little different than what others have reported.  I agree that the place was very clean, it was easy to get an appointment, and the receptionist was exceptionally pleasant.  But my waxing service, performed by Nilou, left much to be desired.  I think I can accurately characterize the experience as "wham, bam, thank you ma'am."

It was perhaps the fastest waxing I've ever received, which is not a bad thing (who wants to prolong the agony?).  But my skin was not pulled taught, and there was no "soothing touch" after the pull to ease the pain.  Nilou did not trim or tweeze the strays.  Worst of all, there was no clean-up - the entire area had so much wax residue remaining, and was so sticky, that the $18 Hanky Panky thong I put on afterwards was ruined.

I'd go back in a pinch, but I'm continuing my search for my ideal affordable, accessible waxing destination.  Ibiza isn't it.

I'm very picky about my eyebrows and I've gotten them done all over this area and abroad.  It's very difficult to find someone who can shape brows along your natural line and who is not convinced that thinner is always better.  Anita is the best in DC.  She also has reasonable prices and is so professional and pleasant, making you feel like you're having a chat with your friend.  I've also gotten facials from her and had my hair cut, colored and styled at the salon.  I was very hesitant about switching over for those services since I am so picky but was very pleasantly surprised.  Also, I like the fact that there is no pressure from the staff to try to sell you products or additional services.  I hate it when stylists and estheticians push products ...makes me want them less!   I know what I need and if I need something I'll let you know...

Discovering this Day Spa/Salon on Yelp was an absolute treat.  I scheduled a full day of waxing, pedicure, facial and massage.  First the location is ultra convenient for me as I work a few blocks down on M Street.

The overall ambience and decor is chique but not too overdone. They have 2 pedicure chairs, one of which was my first stop on my day of indulgence.  The chair had a massage function and I was pleased to learn that the foot bath/jets are tubeless (i.e., null risk of nasty bugs setting up shop).  The pedicure was very relaxing as well as an A1 job.

Next I went in for a full leg and brazilian waxing. The room was again very chique but not overdone, with a gas fireplace, candles, music and a soothing wallscape.  AND the brazilian waxing was over before I could say "Wow that was the fastest brazilian waxing I have had in my 6 years of partaking in this womanly and maybe not so womanly endeavor".   I do have brazilians regularly, and this was by far the least painful waxing I have ever received (the aesthetician was Anita).  She followed up with a facial that was absolutely exquisite.  I have received such a facial only one other time and it was at the Biltmore Resort and Spa in Arizona - BUT - I only paid about 1/2 for the same type of facial here, so you go figure.

The piece de resistance was the stone massage that followed which again was on part with the Biltmore.  The "touch" was absolutely professional and first class.

All in all, I was completely satisfied with the quality, cleanliness and professionality, and would have gladly paid double for the same results, :) but I didn't have to...

Ok, I don't want to slam them. Other people's experience seems to be different than mine, so maybe I just hit them at an off time.

I went in for a Brazilian wax. Let's just start out by saying that I am a veteran waxee. I have been doing the Brazilian for years now and have been a client of J Sisters in NYC, Pink Cheeks in LA, a funny little woman in Beverly Hills who routinely gets flown to sets the world over to attend to the beautiful people of the world (I'm not one of those folks, btw, just a lowly mortal ha!), a DIY kit or two (Bliss makes a nice one), and a few other random places throughout the world.

A few thoughts:

-strange to lose the drawers in front of the waxer, but whatever, she's about to see it all anyway, so it didn't really bother me.
-wax was not hot enough and pulled on the hairs when applied causing more pain. How do I know? My DIY experience taught me that if the wax is not quite hot enough it will pull the hairs when you apply the wax.
-the waxer did not hold my skin taught to pull the strips. I've no idea why. So strange and caused more pain.
-she did not trim the little bit that was left at the end. What's up with that? Is this a DC thing?
-she also did not go back through and clean up the (many, many) stragglers that she missed with the wax. I've always had the waxer go back with tweezers and grab the couple that were missed.
-At the end, there was no oils or lotions, only a slap (literally) with baby powder.

My experience??? Bad. I would not recommend getting a brazilian there to anyone. My DIY experiences were less painful! I was surprised that a professional could make it more painful.  Maybe they do other things just fabulously, but I am definitely not a fan of the waxing.

It all started on ... sunny Thursday afternoon...

This was my first time at Ibiza and after reading and re-reading and analyzing yelpers' reviews for the past week or so.  I was ready.

I went for Anita.

I came in everyone was fashionably dressed and very "hip" looking.
The receptionist was nice but when waiting I felt a little awkward...knowing the fact that I came for the Brazilian... for the first time.

Note: did not offer cookies like reviewers before mention..darn.

Anita - 3:15
Pretty lady, nice, cute hair cut, smell nice.

Greetings
3:16, In a nice comfortable and clean room

Me: This is my first time
Her: Don't worry

She talked me through which was nice because I felt less uncomfortable. It was quick very quick. It was not as painful as I suspected. Well, I have a high threshold for pain so it was all good in the hood.

She was so nice and very friendly. I laughed a couple of times because of the conversation we had. Done. She will tell you the preparations after the Brazilian.

3:25 - 3:30 ? Eyebrows wax.
They look amazing! I love it!  I had compliments on it too! wooo hoo!

Mission accomplished.

Mission II -- Next visit sometime soon to Ibiza for Azita to dye my hair.

Great service and at a bargain price!
This pretty much says it all. I have been coming here for over a year, and as the first reviewer, I kind of feel attached if not responsible for this place on yelp.

As has been said by many and refuted by a couple, this place has great atmoshpere, friendly staff and exceptional results.  For DC, the prices really undercut most of the midrange salons and all of the high range salons to which I have been. However, pricing is but one benefit to visiting Ibiza, as the service is spot on.

DC Brazilian Wax:  Anita is my favorite for this and all my waxing, including eyebrow.  I have always received excellent results, courteous and professional attitude. I have also had services on occasion with Nilou and Nagmeh with similar results.  As for the handful of negative reviewers, it seems either they hate the world (i.e., one person suggests that "this place" should be avoided because one technician (nameless) gave her bad service) or they point blank state in their review that they expected the technician to read their minds on what they wanted. Hmmm, interesting logic. In any case, i find a review rather dubious when no names are used...not very helpful and disparages others' good work. Also, as a consummate waxer, I must say I am surprised by the bad advice some reviewers give - i.e., you want baby powder versus oil after waxing, because oil will enhance or guarantee the likelihood of ingrown hairs - ask your dermatologist if you don't believe me.

Hair: I have had services by Rita, Charles, Azita and Israel, for coloring, cuts, highlights, depending on my schedule and availability.  Again, very good results, with very competitive pricing.  Hair is a very personal thing for many of us girls, and boys for that matter, so my two cents is that depending on your personal taste, your result may be dependent on how well you communicate your taste to your stylis - otherwise you risk the stylist doing what they feel would look best.  some of this is of course common sense.

Manicure/Pedicure:  Angela and Veronica are real pros , and from what I can tell are always booked, which bodes well for their product/work.  My personal disclaimer, I have only had work done by Veronica, but Angela and Veronica basically are equals from what I hear.

Facials/Microderm:

In the year since I have been coming here, Ibiza has always been improving and getting the most up-to-date equipment and services.  The facials are really on par with the type you would expect to get at expensive weekend spas, but sans the spa pricing.  The equipment is identical to those I have been treated on board the few cruise ships I have been on. The mircoderm machine again is the latest and whats more Nilou and Anita are masters of their craft when it comes to using this equipment on my face.

Ambiance:  Its always a treat to come to ibiza to have one of their Persian teas with cookies or be offered an ice tea.  the receptionist really go out of their way to make you feel at home. The decor is warm and earthy and the treatment rooms are always spotless and clean.

also, I appreciate that they modify the lighting and music based on what treatment you are getting (i.e., nice and bright for brazilian, while subdued lighting and soothing music for my facials). Other places I have been to have the same lighting for everything. e.g., I really want the technician to see what the heck they are doing if they are doing a waxing.

All in all, my recommendation is five stars for Ibiza.

This is much more a mid-range salon more than it is a day spa, and as such it's great for manicures, pedicures and waxing, but not so much massages. You can do better elsewhere and for a similar price on that front. Be sure to communicate exactly what you want with your services too -- I learned the hard way that you will not be asked how slim you want your eyebrows, for example. That said, I had the best manicure/pedicure I've ever received here. Ask for Angela!

Yes I never had a brazilian wax...in all of my 30 something years until last Friday! I know...it's crazy! I feel like one of those hip Sex and the City women just so liberated and bold.

So I did a search on Yelp and behold Ibiza Day Spa and Salon. I dialed them up and to my surprise they had an appointment straight away. Of course, I went in with the intention of only getting a conservative bikini wax for my upcoming trip to Hawaii. I waited for about 10 minutes and the desk girls were nice and chatty but I started to get anxious as the time passed. Then, a little, bleach blond girl appears and says "I am ready for you."

So I walk back to the waxing room and she says, "Take off your pants and underwear." She seems nice enough but she doesn't mince words. So I do what she says and I am now standing in the room with only my sweater and jacket on with nothing else. Quite embarrassing for me but I try to just think this is routine for her so what's the big deal?

So she gets to work and about 5 seconds into it. She suggests the "Playboy" which apparently is just like a Brazilian but not ALL the way (if you get my meaning) so I hear myself say, "OK" and honestly the next 10 minutes are pure hell. And yea...might as well just do the Brazillian because the Playboy is pretty much everything under the sun.

So my girl Nilou is awesome because she's fast and there's no awkward conversation. She gets it done in under 10 minutes! If I am going to continue doing this, I rather have it done and over with as soon a possible.  The price was $45 which as I was rehashing the horrible experience to my girlfriend, who has touted the benefits of the Brazilian for many years, says that's a bargain.

The waxing is good, not great. I'm happy with the end result, but will continue to try other places. I went for a Brazilian...maybe I've been pampered in the past, but it wasn't all that. Not horrible by any means, but I wasn't overly impressed.

I stripped down while she waited in the room, still had some stray wax left on my legs and it was so quick I wasn't sure how thorough it really could be. I stark contrast to my previous waxing experiences in Chicago.

Not bad, but I'm going to shop around. I'd rather pay a bit more for pampering.

Went in for a Brazilian because of all the rave reviews on yelp. Ive tried other services recommended by yelp but this is the first one that has disappointed me. Anita is very nice and  Yes its true you will be in and out in 10 min but imagine  how much can be done in that time. Some of my skin was ripped off and before I knew it baby powder was sprinkled all over me and I was sent on my way wax and all. I have had several before but this one was different from the rest. Ladies if you want the back done this isn't the place to go. All that happens here is hair gets ripped off and some baby powder thats it!!!

I went to Ibiza and had a brazilian wax from Anita based on all the positive comments I read on this website. The wax (my first brazilian, ever) was incredibly quick (about 10 minutes) and Anita talked me through the whole thing. She was very sweet and informative, and I would definitely recommend this place for waxing. Plus they have cookies to eat while you wait!

Thanks everyone, for your suggestions. They were really helpful.

First, a disclaimer: This was my first experience with waxing outside of an upscale spa, so take that for what it's worth.

I called Ibiza on a Tuesday morning and was able to make an appointment that afternoon, which was fabulous. I arrived and was greeted by a very sweet and cheerful receptionist, sitting next to a not so friendly woman (perhaps a stylist?). I had to wait about 15 minutes and was never offered water or anything else mentioned here. I'll note that the salon was pretty dead: no one in the front room, I think only one or two people in the back.

I'm not sure who my waxer was, but she was all business. We walked in to the room and instead of the soft lighting, music, and blanket/towel for modesty that I'm used to, I walk into a rather sterile room (clean! which is good!) with flourescent lighting and a table that reminds me of the doctor's office.

She gets right to work and it's pretty painful: a cooling touch right after the wax does wonders, but that doesn't happen here. She was very thorough, which was great. When she got to my eyebrows I was nervous because I'm terrified of someone making them super thin, but she did a great job of listening to what I asked for and just cleaning them up.

For $50 (bikini and eyebrow) I'll definitely return as it's cheaper than any spa but I'm sure a lot nicer than the walk-ups in Georgetown, but they still have some room for improvement.

All Hail Anita.

For the last 6 years I've taken the trek to the fabulous J. Sisters in NYC for my Brazilian.  However this past weekend was really hectic and the Man was coming home, so I had to take care of business.  After reading about Anita, I booked an appt immediately.

Got there about 5 minutes before my appt at 4pm, was greeted warmly by the receptionist and offered a drink.  Anita comes out at exactly 4:00!  She talks to me about what I'd like to have, if I've ever had a wax etc.  Very nice lady and absolutely gawguss!

I was in at 4:03 and walking out at 4:20.  She did an awesome job, not a hair in sight.  She was quick and painless.  For $45, you can't beat it.

I will recommend her to anyone who ask.  Great job

Having had a ton of spa experience, I would actually give this place a 3.5 star. After reading all of the reviews on Yelp for a spa spot, I attempted to make an appointment at Joy's, but they were all booked up, so I settled for Ibizia. I actually wanted a couple's spa session (facial and massage), but had to settle for separate rooms. My facial was not the best I've had (nothing to write home about), it was simple, mediocre, nothing that jumps out at me. My massage (a hot stone massage) was good. The pressure wasn't right, she didn't "hit the spot", but after she placed the hot stones on my back, it made everything better. My boyfriend got a facial and a deep tissue massage with the hot stones, he said that the facial was good (removed a lot of his black heads), but the massage wasn't truly a deep tissue massage, not enough pressure. If you're going to go to Ibizia and have had spa treatments before, don't come expecting the world, because you'll be disappointed. One truly positive note though, the price is acceptable for two facials and two massage sessions.

Hands down, can't beat this place for waxing.  I read the reviews, including some of the negative reviews, and concluded that, yes, you should definitely let your technician know whats on your mind. Its like going to get a skim caramel latte, but going into the coffee shop and saying you want something with coffee in it :) common sense.

Anyhow, I scheduled a brow waxing and bikin wax and when i arrived the receptionist offerred a beverage and some pasteries.  I said yes to the herbal tea, as I was a bit early for my appointment.  The tea had a very yummy scent and when the clock turned to my time, the technician was there on the spot, with a greeting and a welcoming smile.

i followed her to a room past some styling stations (hair) and two jumbo pedicure chairs.  The room itself was well lit, with music in the background and very very clean (this is an absolute must for me).

I volunteered that i wanted my brow first and after some basic instructions, and a short while later I had beautifully shaped brows.

next, I was told to disrobe for the bikini wax, and layed down on the treatment bed.  The waxing wax very quick, but very thorough. Indeed, it is has been a couple of weeks now, and the waxing has lasted.  The technician powdered me up and explained that the powder will prevent pimples.  The entire appointment took about 1/2 hour which is also a great plus in my book.  I will definitely go back!

Well, I can definitely echo what most people have said on here!  Ibiza is great for waxing.  I haven't tried any of their other services, so I can't speak to those.  Waxing is quick, and relatively painless (I mean, can getting a brazilian ever feel good?)  I've been to Nilou and Nagme (sp?).  I actually prefer Nagme.  She just gets the job done - no awkward conversation!  (that's more my style).  The couple times I went to Nilou, she left some "stubble" behind, which was not cool.  Also , the waxing room is a little...lacking in atmosphere.  There's a nice picture on the wall, and music playing, but the fluorescent lights are a big harsh.  Not a huge deal though!  I still want to try Anita, as everyone seems to have such complimentary things to say!

Also, it's a little crowded up by the reception desk, so I always seem to end up awkwardly trying to pay and schedule my next appointment as 3 other people are standing at the counter.

However, I would DEFINITELY recommend Ibiza!

If you need a brazilian or bikini wax, Anita is your girl. She's really sweet and chats with you the whole time, which helped me stay relaxed. Despite it being super-busy Spring Break season, she squeezed me in today at 1pm because it was more convenient for me than my original 5:45pm appointment. She's always on time and seems to always be in a good mood. Can't say enough great things!

The salon overall is nicely decorated, warm and friendly--nice receptionist, fair prices--great experience overall.

Why have I waited so long to write a review about this place? Well, because I'm lazy.

I will however, share a story with you. So Boyfriend, who is finicky about haircuts (but he's not metro) walked into Ibiza the day it opened  and meets the owner.  He proceeds to ask her if he has a sister. (It wasn't a pick-up line). As some of you may know Anita and Azita are twins. Well apparently, Azita was his old hair stylist back in Reston, until he moved away for a summer and found out she left the salon. Bringing us to present day.

We've both been going to this salon since it's opened and we both see Azita. I too, am picky about my hair. I can literally walk in and say make me look fabulous, and she does just that! I also see Nagme for Brazillians and she's also just as wonderful and really sweet. The fact that she drives from Gaithersburg and back, is dedication! And Ida for nails, I love the fact that I can sit down for a mani/pedi and gossipwith my manicurist!  I go to other salons because sometimes it's just more convenient, but I really have a feeling of regret when I leave and wished I had gone to Ibiza!

I went to Ibiza because of all of the excellent reviews I read here. And my experience was definitely what I expected based on the reviews. I went in for a brazilian wax and the aesthetician really did a great job of getting all the hair and in very little time, with an equivalent level of pain.  Very deluxe result for not so deluxe pricing - incredible that its only $45 for brazilian. I also did the main/pedi signature service and it was well worth it....and again the pricing.  Frankly, for the location, the service and overall quality, very very well priced. Would recommend. great job Ibiza.,

Best DC salon experience in a long time.

I did my homework on Yelp in reading the reviews and going to places that were highest rated. So I have tried a few places for waxing and hair care. Some were overpriced and didn't deliver, some were undepriced and didn't deliver, but i have recently tried IBIZA and they are just right in both areas.

I had lip threading done by Nagmay, which was fast efficient and perfect. On a different occasion I also had a brazilian waxing by Anita which was virtually painless and as quick as my Yelp sisters have attested to here (don't know of any guys that have had brazilians done).  Also had eyebrow shaping done and I think this is the best my rows have looked since I left San Fran.

The work was durable and lasted and on top of it all, I have not found any place that beats the price and matches the quality.

Frankly, am kind of surprised by a couple of bad reviews here, but who knows, I have sometimes seen unrealistic and unreasonable customers in my line of business as well.  Also, as is often the case there are two sides to every story.

All in all, I am satisfied and after running through a few DC salons/day spas, I think I finally found my place.  Ibiza gets my five stars and, I plan on going back to try more services and will update accordingly...so stay tuned....

Adding on - I must say the skin care crew at Ibiza is quite good. I went back recently and had a full wax with Nilou, who did a great job.  So basically, I have had work of the waxing persuasion done by Anita, Nagmay and Nilou. Furthermore, I also had a manicure/pedicure (didn't catch her name) but she had a great smile and she did a fantastic job (I think she was Brazilian? but can't be sure); must say the massage pedi chairs just put me right to sleep on the lazy afternoon that I chose for my services...Also, every time I have been at Ibiza the receptionist have been very receptionist-like in greeting me warmly and offering drinks, cookies....but for the prices and great service I think I care less about teh lighting and cookies...Recommend for the great service alone....

I went to Rita for a haircut on the advice of fellow Yelpers. I needed a haircut to fix some things that I hated about a haircut that I had gotten at One80 Salon. She quickly and correctly assessed the problem: to many different lengths of choppy layers.

She suggested a solution that would have fixed that problem and kept most of the length. I appreciated her assumption that I wanted to fix the problem without disturbing the overall look, because that's probably what most people would want. But I told her to cut off a lot more -- a good six inches. She asked me several times whether I was sure, and I was. She did exactly what I wanted, and she did it very well. I left with a clean, minimalist haircut that made me love my hair more than I have in ages. It was such a relief after the complex mess of layers I had been dealing with. Rita was very friendly and capable, and I will definitely go back to her.

The other details: I loved the decor of the salon -- very warm and colorful. The person working the front desk didn't seem particularly friendly, but maybe she was just having a bad day.

So on recommendation from a fellow yelper (thanks Sarah Y) I visited Ibiza for waxing and a blow dry.

When you walk in you are greated by a very friendly receptionist who offered me a beverage and pasteries after I sat at the comfy orange couch (my favorite colors are orange and violet).  [First Star].

I waited for about 7 minutes, for my brazilian waxing.  The aesthetician apologized for the delay and took me in the treatment room which was warm and cozy, even had a fire place going. [Second star].
I think it must be gas or something like that. The brazilian was virtually painless and literally over in about 12 minutes. [Third star]  I am used to a decent job taking about 45 minutes so I was absolutely astonished.   The esthetician powdered me up and provided some instructions which a veteran waxee like myself certainly knows. A very clean, professional and thorough job. [Fourth Star] Anita was very pleasant and walked me to my chair where the stylist greeted me with a smile and asked me my preference for the blow out. [Five Star]

The stylist really took time and made my hair come alive.  I was then escorted to the reception desk where I was surpised to find my entire tab was about $70. [Six Star]  Usually this is what I pay for just a brazilian.

So there's my play by play, and Sarah's recommendation gets the Seventh star for being spot on as was Ibiza.

Yelp is so useful, especially when you move to a new city and need to find all new 'favorites'. Needless to say, I wasn't going to trust my hair to just anyone so I turned to yelp for advice. I have thin hair so I wanted a haircutter who could provide my hair with some body. I also wanted a nice place but not a place that made me feel uncomfortable because it was so uppity. Yelp was spot on with its advice to go to Ibiza and to have Rita cut my hair. I actually went again today and made the plunge into BANGS. I wholeheartedly trusted Rita to make it work and oh she did. The haircut is $65 and I usually give her a nice tip so it's a bit pricey but well worth it.

I moved to DC a few months ago and have been on the hunt for a good day spa...you ladies know that you can't be too careful when getting a Brazilian. Needless to say, I found Ibiza on yelp and tried it out. The staff there is fabulous - from reception (Cary and Marta) to Rita (hair) to Anita (waxing). I'm trying a massage this weekend.

The prices are right and the service so far has been terrific.

Thank God for Ibiza and Yelp. Its incredible how much one doesn't know. I live in DC,  literally about 1.5 miles from Ibiza, but if it werent for Yelp would not have discovered Ibiza.

I have been here several times now, and the service has been exceptional every time (including hair color/cut (Rita) and various waxing e.g.,brazilian wax and brow shaping (Anita)); and recently an exceptional manicure/pedicure.

As far as DC day spa and salons go, I think there are those that are pretenders that overcharge for service, there are places that are simply dives, and then there are places like Ibiza which have it going on with pricing, service and the end product, which is me looking beautiful.

Its incredible to me, when I found out Ibiza has been in operation only a few months.  My last salon, which shall remain nameless, has been around for several years, and they simply do not measure up on service or pricing.  Also, I have tried some of the more ultra expensive places thinking pricing gets you better quality/results...but as many of you salon addicts know, this is simply not the case.   Also, I don't get the whole day spa versus spa distinction, but it seems to me, spas are "wet" (e.g., provide showers, steam rooms, etc.) and day spas are not; is this correct? anyone?

In any event, if Im getting the same service (waxing, facial, etc) I don't really care that there is a soak tub or jacuzi available, i.e., I don't want my service to be overpriced because the spa has higher rent to pay.  Ibiza is just right in the pricing area, and the results are fantastic.  Recently, had another brazilian done with Anita, and my god, I was in and out of there in literally 8 minutes. Finding anyone better would be very very difficult.

Simply put, IBIZA is a god send.

Thank you Yelp and Ibiza Day Spa. My strongest endorsement for both.

I shoulda went with my gut. I was desperate after growing out a bad cut and still new to the city. I went for a consult with Rita. She was standoffish, but I let it slide due to the desperate part. She had an attitude but I thought that could maybe attributed to skill.  The next week I went to the apt,. and it was empty. The receptionist was nice. The apt went fairly quickly considering I had foils and a cut. I don't blow dry my hair, so I didn't recognize the mis cut until later. I had asked and paid for 3/4 foils, but not until weeks later when I was putting my hair up from the heat, did I see a lot of missed spots and really that I got a 1/2 head of foils. All in all dissapointing for the money you drop in there. I wouldn't recommend it, and wish I woulda went with my gut and not kept the apt. My hair would be longer--with roots--by now, but I wouldn't be out $300.

I got my very first Brazilian wax and massage from Ibiza. My experience with this salon was wonderful. The massage was heaven and the atmosphere of the room was very relaxing and calm.

From the reviews here, I did request for Anita and since this was my first Brazilian wax I did not know what to expect. I'll have to say that she was fast, and was able to wax sections of the hairs off the first time. It was not as painful as I thought it would be. Ofcourse, the top part was the most unpleasant part but overall it was not that bad! Anita gave instructions on how to take care of the area, too. I recommend this salon!

Tips before getting a Brazilian wax:
-Bring white cotton panties so you can change after the wax session.
-Get a Brazilian wax a week after your period ends
-Do not put lotion on the area or exercise after the wax
