Ah, Ibby, you make a mean platter. Your hummus is delightful. I even like the stuffed grape leaves. And the shaved meat is delicious. The desserts are pretty good too! This place is a very good time, and I do recommend it for a quick eat--take out or delivery is your best bet, though, very few seats to sit on.
The sandwiches are okay, considering that sometimes you get more lettuce than you want, but the combo platters are to die for. They give you at least two whole pitas with a combo, and there is more than enough food to make four or five of your own sandwiches from one platter. The lamb here is wonderful, the chicken can be dry.
The espresso is great!! Kinda like coffee with cardamon (ok, so I can't spell) and some other great spices. The will make it with sugar unless you tell them otherwise. If you have never had middle eastern espresso just know do not stir the coffe and do NOT to drink the sludge at the bottom.....
The food is AWESOME. I have not had anything here that wasn't fresh and delicious. The only downfall is the lack of street parking, and I live outside their delivery boundries. But they are 100% worth the drive/parking space search.
The food was horrible. The falafel was pale and tasted gross. The hummus tasted like raw fish. And the shawarma sucked it was all fat and burned. this place stinks go to new york and try Mamouns Falafel thats were its at.

To the person above who found a bug fly in their sandwich. I'm not surprised!!!!! I just came from there and I had a huge stomachache. Maybe I should have said something when the man who made my falafel counted a whole lotta money and then preceded to make my food WITHOUT WASHING his Filthy Hands. PLEASE WEAR GLOVES or WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!!!! If you're a frequent customer I would say something.
So Ibby is Mamoun's nephew? Obviously he did not get the family recipe correct or even passed down to him!
My falafel sandwich was miniature filled with lettuce and tahini sauce. The falafel was all mashed up, cold, and barely there. The menu says, "Sandwich comes in a hot pita pocket." My pita was cold! I got my food to go. Today is one of the warmer days of winter and I live across the street. My food couldn't have gotten cold in the 3 minutes it took to walk back to my apartment.
Next time, I'm going to grab my lunch from Beechwood. Ibby gets two stars for the $2 it charged me for my falafel as well as how it rates on the five star scale.

Last year, a small tahini-coated bug flew out of my brother's schawarma. I shit you not.
I vowed to stay away, but found myself drawn to this little hole-in-the-wall time and again. The prices and good food (sans our little friends) kept me going back for more.
It's good, it's cheap, and it's open late. What more could you ask for?

So, you're about to go to a bar, aren't very hungry and don't care much for the greasy bar food? Go on over to Ibby's and grab a quick falafel sandwich. It's healthier than most other things you'll get to eat. It isn't heavenly tasty -- far from it -- but it'll leave you satisfied.
Good place to sit outside in the summer. It can be a little bit drafty in the winter though because it's small and people keep coming in and leaving.
Great place to grab a quick falafel! Humus, grape leaves and Schwarma are great too!

I love getting a quck lunch here. You are in and out in no time.
For a while I lived in Jersey City, and one of the best memories of living there was having Ibby's so close by. Delicious food.
Now that I don't live there any more, I don't get out to Ibby's that much, but I can happily report that their party platters are excellent.
Hooray Ibby's!
Badass fact #1 about Ibby's Falafel: their falafel kicks ass. And the claim below that this is the best falafel this side of the Hudson isn't technically wrong, but there's more: a food personage no less than Robert Sietsema of the Village Voice claims that Ibby's, and I quote, "blows MacDougal Street out of the water." Ahem.
Badass fact #2 about Ibby's Falafel: They're open until midnight. This is nothing to sneeze at in downtown JC.
Badass fact #3 about Ibby's Falafel: they sell tshirts which have "Jersey City" emblazoned across the back so you can represent, and wear your JC pride.

I have been eating falafels from here ever since my vegan days in high school when my mother worked nearby and would bring a few back for me every so often. I still stop by and pick a few up from time to time except now I indulge in shawarma as well and whatever else seems interesting to me at the moment. I haven't had an NYC falafel since my meatless days, but I don't remember any that could really top this place.
Moved here to Jersey City about 8 months ago. This was the first restaurant in the area I tried and DAYAMN I have been hooked like Kitty Dukakis to nail polish remover! (For all you peeps born too late for that reference, girl was ADDICTED). Run, don't walk, to indulge in the savory lamb, moist chicken, fresh baklava, and refreshing rice pudding.

Best Falafel this side of the Hudson. Ibby's is open late, and is always a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat.
ibby's falafel is back after renovation, still my favorite. all veggie-friendly items are excellent, love the hot tea (perfect sweetness), and all desserts are good except rice pudding is not special if you are looking for something out of the ordinary. menu says open until midnight, but the people who work there are nice enough to stay open as late as people are still coming in.
