My first encounter with Ian's was certainly not my last.

One night I was traipsing along Clark Street with my friends after closing down the bar looking for something good to eat. Luckily we stumbled upon Ian's. My eyes were the size of saucers when I saw the variety of pizza flavors. (I wonder how many people have stood there drooling over what kind to order?)

Anyway, no matter what kind you order, they warm up your slices in the oven, so it's served to you piping hot. Nothing is worse than cold pizza in my book.

I always try something new and I have yet to be disappointed. Slices that hit the spot:  Mac and Cheese, Greek, Taco, and BBQ Chicken.

If you're a huge fan of innovative pizza toppings, check this place out.

For not trying everything on their menu yet(particularly dessert pizzas and salads), this has been solid the several times I've eaten here. My fav so far has actually been the barbeque steak and fries pizza. They have a lasagna marinara(?) that was decent, and the macaroni and cheese was also good(though IMO, it was slightly overhyped). And of course, love how chewy their pizza crust is, and I hope that never changes!

Other than my wish that they'd open earlier on weekdays(heck, even a 2 to 3pm opening time, instead of 5pm, would be fine for me), this place continues to not disappoint every time I come here. Finally, don't forget to ask for a punch card, you get punches each time you get a specialty pizza slice($3.75), and a free slice after 10 punches.

I'm surprised how much I crave Ian's slices.  I've tried many varieties - mac n' cheese, chicken blue, philly cheese steak, taco, pepperoni & mushroom, and I haven't had a bad slice yet.  Many of their pizzas don't have red sauce, but rather a creme or other sauce that goes with the flavor.

If they only served traditional toppings, then I would only classify them as above average because their crust alone is just OK...and I'd pick Piece as my favorite pizza with their suateed mushrooms.  But Ian's re-creation of everyday dishes on pizza crust make an unbelievably great pizza.  It's fun, different and definitely worth a visit.

For a place that sees an obscene amount of business on the weekends, this place is awfully efficient, awfully friendly, and serves up some of the most unique pies in the city.

Smack in the middle of Wrigleyville, you would figure it would serve cookie cutter New York thin crust, charge you $5-$6, and laugh all the way to the bank on the dime of drunk kids who don't know any better. However, Ian's has integrity, or simply feels some connection to the Wrigleyville crowd because he (I'll assume Ian actually exists) eschews this logic to make his pizza damn tasty. I usually stick with the meaty pizzas, but those who take the plunge on his more creative dishes have given high marks.

Most importantly, in the drunk food pantheon, this is one of the few places I've been to sober. I wholeheartedly endorse Ian's at this time as well, considering his location and clientele, he does a damn fine job

So I often find myself at Rebel bar & grill across the street from this fine establishment.  Curse?  Some would say so.

I love the different kinds of pizza they offer with toppings that I would never have put on a pizza..like..mac n cheese pizza...LOVE IT!  I BELIEVE I've also had the barbecue chicken pizza..the memory is a bit fuzzy though.

ANYWAY, I always get good food here...you're in and out, stuffed, drunk, and ready to pass out in no time!

I am having a hard time describing this pit-za - it was good, but not memorable.  We got 2 flavors - sausage pepperoni, and tomato spinach artichoke.  The meat dish was flavorful, pretty good.  The veggies... kinda boring really, very bland.  Did we just get the wrong toppings?  Or is it because we ordered delivery at 7pm, and were not drunk and slobbering yet?  Crust was good, but I wish it was more crunchy and less limp.  It did the trick for satisfying my pit-za craving, but I don't know that I will go there again.  Unless there are some crazy topping suggestions like I've now seen on yelp.

Going to keep hitting new places until we find that unforgettable pie!

Thank you, Ian's for bucking the Chicago tradition and serving up a pizza with a REAL crust. Now, I realize its not New York or New Haven style, but any crust that has a bit of a flop to it and is chewy rather than crackery is aces in my book.

It's a little strange though, for some reason your pizza is only good hot from the oven? We took some home and I tried a piece cold (which is my favourite way to eat pizza btw) and it just wasn't good. Flavours were off, crust was heavy and too dense - how odd! Not since an unfortunate encounter with a day old D'Giorno have I been this taken aback and displeased.

I do like your fancy ingredient options, I will definitely be back for pizza. Your salads, eh, large enough to feed two but the Greek wasn't anything special or different from any Greek salad at any cheapy pizza place.

Grub a Grub, Grub.
Ian's is the best pizza that I have had in a long time. The structure is more like New York pizza. The slices have a thinner crust than most Chicago pizza and they make is with little to no tomato sauce.
We ordered the Buffalo Chicken pizza. It was delicious. The Chicken had a spicy tang to it and the cheese was mouthwatering.
Ian's has a BYOB policy and there is a liquor store about a block away. It was a wonderful Friday night. There is nothing like kicking back with a good Pie and a few Brews to get the weekend started right. I really enjoyed my experience at Ian's and I can't wait to go back.

Not a chance!

Cheap and extraordinarily creative pizza by the slice?

What do I mean by creative?  Try the macaroni and cheese pizza or the the Philly cheese steak pizza; they're delicious!

Everytime I'm in Chicago I try to make it a point to go to Ian's.  They have some unique (and possibly unusual) toppings.  I'm not sure if I like this place so much because they're open late... like really late and you can always stop in and grab a quick bite, or if it's really that good.  But, I have to admit how clever it is to be open late and offer such 'unique' toppings... what better time to be adventurous than after a night out on the town!  All four of my stars go towards the food, because the ambiance is not much to rave about and the staff is pretty rude, granted their very quick and efficient.  But, what do you expect...  you go for a slice of pizza, you get a slice of pizza.  you really don't need much more!

IANS is amazing.  It almost doesn't matter what kind of pizza you get--there are many varieties and most of them are good.  I got their S'Mores pizza the other week, and aside from turning the tables in favor of diabetes, it was delicious.

The price is right, the staff is friendly, but if you don't like supremely drunk people, don't come here on the weekends.  They're all right with me, so I do.

Only 4 more punches to go on my Free Pizza card.

I'm in Wrigleyville.
I'm leaving the bar (not by choice).
I'm hungry.
I'm craving BBQ Chicken Pizza.
To my dismay, the pizza joint across the street is closed.
I see a place called Ian's Pizza with a crowd of drunkards surrounding it.
I enter...

Barbeque Steak & Fries Pizza.  Wow.
What a slice of heaven!  Tasty indeed!

The place was crowded.  I ate standing over a table with no chairs.
I didn't even care.  The BBQ Steak & Fries Pizza had me at hello.

They had other non-traditional pizza's such as Mac'n'Cheese, Taco, and with Buffalo Chicken!

Pizza by the slice! Get some!!!

The pizza's good.  I liked the crust particularly.

What I didn't like is that most of the vegetarian slices seemed to come from pizzas that had meat on half of them.

This makes me think they aren't made for vegetarians and that Ian's Pizza doesn't want my money.  It's strange that a business from State Street in Madison, Wisconsin would do something so uncouth.  I want to give them two stars for shunning my patronage but I liked the crust and the flesh is weak.

What else is there to say beyond what everyone else already has. The reason I am doing this review is more so to solidfy their rating as every fan should be doing. It might not be your Chicago style pizza joint, but they pizza's they pull off deserve their own categorizing.

Make sure to tip those guys work hard to feed SO MANY baseball fans, bar crowds, and hungry locals! And they do it all with a very positive attitude!

Ahh, real pizza. Not that knife and fork stuff. And not just real pizza, but real, CRAZY pizza. Macaroni pizza, cheeseburger pizza, all strange and delicious combinations. And when I say cheeseburger pizza, I don't mean "hey, let's throw some ground beef and cheddar on this thing and call it a cheeseburger pizza"; I mean "beef, pickles, onions, ketchup, and dear lord this tastes like McDonald's burgers would if they were 200% more awesome." It seems a little pricey at first, but it's well worth it. Great grub at any time of the day, but especially great post-bar hopping.

Here fatty, fatty, fatty! Come and get it.

I hear that taunt in my head when I pass Ian's and smell the pizza aromas wafting through the air. I do my best to eat healthy fare for lunch but I worked around the corner from Ian's so it was hard. Finally, it became too much to ignore and I gave in to Ian's call. Of course, I ordered the much hyped Mac and Cheese pizza. I would use expletives to say how much I enjoyed it, but I'll keep it classy and just say it was beyond good and worth the hype.

Lunch at Ian's was probably 90% of my daily caloric intake, but Ill be back to do it all over again and relish in my giant cheesy pizza tummy!

I went on Sunday after the final Cubs game of the season. They have an impressive selection of inventive pizzas and the prices were reasonable (under $10 for my wife and I to get a slice and a soda). The staff was friendly and the place was clean.

All that said, I got the Chicken Alfredo pizza and was pretty disappointed. The chicken and mostaccioli were rubbery and bland, the sauce was light, which to me was the  best part and the crust was sinfully boring.

I know what you're going to say and yes, I did sample my sister's Mac and Cheese pizza. I liked that a little better but not enough to make me go back if I can avoid it.

Being the most well-versed in Wrigleyville fare and having Yelped up and down the block for several years, an executive decision was made and Ian's Pizza became our target. I was relieved that the 6pm crowd was much less brutal than the 2am or 3am crowd with alcohol seeping out of their pores and violence ready to break out at the drop of an insult to one's mother or one's most favored team.

With the line of pizzas in sight, my focus was on grabbing the last slice of Smokey the Bear, Ian's signature sausage, bacon, french fry and barbecue sauce pizza slice while my other friends grabbed some mac n' cheese slices. Usually I help myself to one of these magical pieces, but a new piece of pie caught my eye and I dived into a slice of omelette / hash brown pizza featuring egg, bacon, potato and cheese with barbecue sauce. One of the finer aspects of Ian's Pizza is that it is a wholly solid piece of pie. The slices can be picked up and they won't flop all over the table or spill toppings down onto the paper plates. We ate and filled ourselves on pizza while working on rehydration to ensure survival into the wee hours of the night.

We went on a weekday. Just a few people inside. We looked at the impressive and creative ingredient selection. There was four of us and we all picked something different and than shared our slices. I liked hot taco pizza and I have to admit with my first bite I was amazed with the crunchiness of the crust - it is amazing!!!. I agree it might not taste the same cold or reheated but that is not what you go there for. Ian's pizza is just plain fun. I love the whole idea and it's BYOB. Fun people and great pizza.

I checked this place out with a group of friends in search of the famed Mac N Cheese pizza. We tried a couple other types too as well as their salads and they were all pretty tasty. You can get a whole pie or buy by the slice. The place itself is a little plain and loud though.  It's BYO and we hung out for a bit with our pies and some beers.  Also a useful stop after visiting one (or several) of the area bars.  : )

This is the sort of pizza that only your typical drunk Wrigleyville crowd could love. In other words, it was really greasy and overpriced. The macaroni and cheese pizza everyone keeps raving about here? Bland and the crust was almost black on the bottom. The slices were also over-priced at almost $4 a slice. My neighborhood greasy spoon could do better (and for a fourth of the price). Go somewhere, anywhere else.

When my hubby asked me if I wanted to split a piece of pizza I should have said no. I had just consumed a hot dog and a soft pretzel at Wrigley Field during the Billy Joel/Elton John concert (awesome by the way).  But then I realized it would be silly for me to turn down half a slice of pizza from the one and only Ian's. And so I obliged...

It was a tough choice. Steak burrito pizza? mmm. Mac n cheese pizza? mmm mmm.  Chicken penne pizza? mmm mmm mmm.  But hubby wanted a piece of mushroom/pepperoni. Boring! I thought about getting my own slice, but then I remembered that it's not fun when your jeans don't fit and agreed I'd be happy with the mushroom/pepperoni. Am I good wife or what?

It may sound boring, but it was the best half slice piece of pizza I've had in a long time...and I seem to be consuming a lot of pizza these days! And if the mushroom/pepperoni is this good imagine how good that mac n cheese pizza will be? Well done Ian. I would consider going up a size in jeans for you...

This is the perfect late-night, after-hours, walking-home-from-the-bars-or-a-game-with-a-group pizza place.

There are tons of choices, large portions, you can easily pay per person, and free water for the taking.

The pizza is decent and unique enough that I, sometimes, crave Ian's when it's not 1am on a Saturday morning.

I don't really like eating out at chains (self proclaimed restaurant snob...but in a good way, I like to think).  I just think it's such an adventure to try new places--especially while traveling--that you can't find anywhere else.  That, amongst other reasons, is why I try to stick to non-chain spots, especially while on the road or in a new place.

Ian's pizza was pretty hopping after the Cubs v. Phillies game at Wrigley Field.  Located in Wrigleyville, the writing on the walls at Ian's boasts a friendly atmosphere--encouraging patrons to be nice or leave.  You order at the counter--a line which wrapped around nearly the whole restaurant.  They had some pretty sweet looking pizzas (however, only one vegetarian variety was available when I was up to order which kind of sucked, but I got it--feta tomato pizza--and it was good).  Just after I ordered, a macaroni and cheese pizza was up on the counter so we ordered a slice of that too.  It definitely had a nice novelty to it.

I specifically checked the take-away menu for a list of other locations.  I want to see if this reasonable post-game hang out was unique to Wrigleyville or present other places as well.  No other locations were listed and judging by the large one panel comic interpretations of "Ian's World" up on the wall--all including references to the Cubs/Wrigley Field--I figured that this must be a one-of-a-kind Wrigleyville place.

The pizza wasn't amazing, but it was good and there were lots of sauces that you could add to top it.  It also seems you can BYOB (a group at a table had brought in some 12 packs).  It was definitely a cool place to go after the game as it was swarming with fans.

It isn't unique to Wrigleyville--there's at least one other location in Madison, Wisconsin.  Oh well, that fact doesn't completely burst my Ian's Pizza bubble.  It was a good place to go after the game, as I said, filled with fans, and a solid place to tell someone to meet you after the game before hitting the bar scene.

PS There's only three of them, so it isn't really a chain monster coming to eat you (and your pizza!)

Ian's is fantastic! The pizza choices are great, the taste is fun, and  the staff is quick and friendly.

I make pizza at home and may have to "borrow" a few recipes - mainly the zucchini and cherry tomatoes; I just wish I knew what cheese they were using.

I didn't see the mac and cheese pizza but did see it in a blog http://thisiswhyyouref... ... which should be named this is what is most tasty!

I absolutely love when you can walk in and get late night pizza by the slice and there are about a million options. Mac and cheese pizza is definitely my favorite. I mean, the combination of carbs and more carbs is genius. I have visited their location in Madison before, and was excited when they opened a location in Chicago. Also, I heard they had a vegan night awhile back...how cool is that? It's next to impossible to get vegan pizza anywhere in Chicago. Kudos to Ian's for reaching out to vegetarians!

I got the buffalo chicken wing pizza... it was spicy and tasty..with blue cheese. I recommend this out of the three we tried.

We tried the mac and cheese slice. To us, it was bland. Mushy and salty. I don't enjoy the two together.

It's got a quirky menu, cheap prices, is open late and is situated right in the middle of a bevy of bars.  In other words, the perfect place to get your grub on after a night out drinking.  But Ian's is so good that I come here even when I'm sober.  Considering all the drunk Cubs fans around the area, Ian's atmosphere is surprisingly comfortable, and it always seems like there's just enough seats for you to anchor yourself before having your first bite of a pizza you never imagined possible.  The ever-changing menu means no two Ian's experiences have to be the same, although if it's your first time I'd have to recommend the signature mac and chesse pizza.  Do yourself a favor and let Ian's mark the end of your next night in Wrigleyville.

The sheer novelty of the pizza options here is admirable (Mac and cheese pizza, BBQ Steak and Fries Pizza, S'mores pizza, etc.)....The fact that these strange concoctions are palatable and actually enjoyable is the kicker.

It gets pretty rowdy here on Friday nights around 1-2 AM or after Cubs games, so keep that in mind. Like others have mentioned, seating is also an issue. Your best bet is to have one of your friends stake out a table while you buy their pizza...it's the only way to get a seat sometimes.

Anyways, the pizza is unique. The toppings are obviously the main draw, but the crust is stellar as well (good mix of crunchy and chewy). You probably won't even appreciate the subtleties of it though if you are 75% of this place's demographic: drunk assholes. Just kidding, but they will not sound the alarm for a popped-collar invasion here, so you have to stay on your feet at all times.

OK: Yes, this place gets slammed. It's in Wriglevyille and after games it's something of a zoo. Also, there's very limited seating, so chances are your going to be getting your slice to go, but what incredible slices they are--oversized, thin crust, with a beguiling list of ingredients. Besides the Philly, I also love the black bean and guacamole and the regular sausage with mushrooms. It's one of the most innovative and consistent pizzerias to arrive in Chicago in several years. Highly recommended in every way.
