this sushi place is always pack.
have a very good selection of sushi rolls and the fish is always fresh.
I always go there whenever I'm back in the bay area.
The service was wonderful but the food was not good.
The California roll was alright but they spider roll was not good at all. The soft shell crab seemed a little spoiled or not fresh.
There are so many better places to go other than this place. I feel bad saying this because the people working there were so nice but I have to be honest and say that the food wasn't good.
Try TGI's Sushi just down Hamilton instead.
After a vigorous physical therapy session, I was left hungered and sore. What best to attend to both afflictions than japanese food!
Across the street there was a place called I Love Sushi. I looked it up and yelp and the reveiws weren;t horrible so gave it a rip.
Atmosphere:
Small, clean, and tidy.
Service:
There were just a few customers in there so not too bad. The sushi chef was eating a bowl of ramen, which is kind of a faux pas to eat in front of customers at your prep station. Other than that, friendly and attentive.
Food:
I ordered a radish roll and a 2 item bento box with spicy teriyaki chicken and spicy tuna roll.
Oshinko maki (pickled radish roll): So-so. The oshinko was not crisp, it was more soft. Kind of a let-down. The sushi rice was decent. The wasabi was not very powerful. It also seemed like the soy sauce was watered down.
Bento: So, spicy teriyaki chicken sounds good right? i'm envisioning a chili-peppery taste combined with the sweetness of teriyaki sauce. The reality is that it was teriyaki sauce with bits of goo (from a packet no less) and rooster sauce on top. Uhhh. yeah. Look people, making home-made teriyaki sauce is REALLY easy and cheap. Mix almost equal parts soy sauce and sugar. Add fresh ginger and sesame seeds if desired. Don't resort to this goo crap, its not very tasty and it looks cheap. The spicy tuna roll was decent, lots of spicy tuna. Not crazy spicy but enough flavor to run with. I didnt really taste the sushi rice in this roll, wondering if from a different batch....
All in all, I've had better and paying 9.95 for a two item bento and 3.95 for a oshinko roll for lunch for the quality... just didnt cut it. I most likely wont be back.
Bento w spicy chk teriyaki and spicy tuna roll
This place has the best unagi! I love unagi and this place has legit unagi. The people here are super nice and the owner chef is a pretty awesome fellow. He's such a happy guy and it's genuine happiness. I feel like the sushi tastes better when he makes it because of the love he puts into it. Definitely get the dragon roll and also any roll with salmon. The prices are really good too.
I love sushi, yes I do....
But from I Love Sushi?? Not just yet.
This place is cute, it's neighborhood, it's filled with friendly. It's very mom & pop and I would love to support that.
When we walked in, sweaty and nasty from 1.5 hours of Bikram, they took our to-go order, sat us down and gave us big glasses of water and a free edamame. They must have realized we were about to pass out dead on their nice, clean floor.
We ordered a handful of rolls that sounded intriguing. They were fresh and they were tasty, but none of them grabbed me in that special sushi roll way where you say OMG I have to have this again. We took it home, we ate our rolls, we nodded our heads..and we thought 'mmmmaybe'.
Word to the wise, the spicy jalapeno roll is SPICY as in...you no longer have a tongue spicy...Flor and I could not even stomach a bite while my hub with a hole in his stomach happily ate the whole thing. Definitely passing on that one. Loved the one with the fresh mango. Fruit in sushi rolls is my thing. Hub loved this place though.
Hospitality: A++
Sushi Rolls: B
We'll be back since we live up the street, and I desperately want a closeby sushi joint other than TGI. But I don't know if this place will be our 'go to' unless something changes with the rolls.
I Love Sushi, take a big fat hint from Sushi O Sushi and TGI in terms of their roll menu, now those flavor combos are bomb and I'd love to taste something a bit more inventive.
A great place to kick back and eat. The owners/staff are super friendly and always remember their customers.
The Jalapeno Special is definitely worth trying if you're into spicy foods.
I went for lunch on a Saturday. It was roughly 12:15pm.
When I entered the restaurant, there was no one else there. I was probably the first customer of the day (I'm assuming they had only been open for a few minutes). I sat down at the bar and since this was my first time here, I would try the chirashi as it provides a good sampling of fish.
The chirashi had: tuna, yellowtail, salmon, shrimp and tamago. The tuna, unfortunately, still tasted a little frozen. There were still pieces of ice in the fish and it thus was too crunchy. The yellowtail had a definite fishy taste to it, as if it had been sitting out for a while. The salmon was the same. The shrimp was standard, nothing overly interesting. The tamago, to my dismay, was cut from a bag of pre-made tamago they purchased at the store.
It was roughly $15 for this meal. The service was also lacking. The three people working were speaking loudly and acted as I was not there. My tea cup stayed empty for quite a bit of time, even after some hand waving.
I probably won't be coming back here, especially if I can purchase my own tamago at the local Japanese markets.
This sushi place is conveniently located. Very close to my work. Good atmosphere. The workers pretty much know me and my coworkers already.
The miso soup is great. I especially love the salmon teriyaki and dragon roll. try this place out. Its awesome!
I Love Sushi Japanese Cuisine is a tiny neighborhood place in the Willow Glen area of San Jose. The area is mostly residential, so there aren't alot of diverse food choices.
By tiny, I mean there are only 3 tables and a counter. It kind of reminds me of the size of little neighborhood places in Japan, but they usually have been around through generations and have more charm.
The staff is Japanese, with 3 men, young and old working as sushi chefs and bento plate makers, and cashier.
As you would suspect in this neigborhood, there are a lot of specialty Rolls to cater to the palettes of the Willow Glen suburban soccer moms. Maki Sushi, Vegetable Rolls, Chef Special Rolls, Deep Fired Rolls, just about everything short of Hot Buttered Rolls.
Surprisingly, they offer dinner Bento Box meals, Dinner entrees (teriyaki), Tempura, and Udon noodle meals, too.
Prices are very reasonable. A 3 item choice bento box lunch is $11.95. Most Nigiri Sushi are under $5, many under $4! The 2nd most expensive thing on the menu is Seafood (Prawn, Scallop, Crab, Calamari) Tempura Dinner (w/soup, salad, rice) at $14.95. For $19.95, you can get 12 pieces of Sashimi in either Maguro, Sake, Hamachi or Albacore.
Nothing fancy or mind blowing here, just a neighborhood place to get a quick Japanese Food Fix!
This is a small ass mom and pops sushi joint so I wouldnt come here with more than 4 people. But other than that its chill. The staff here are very friendly and attentive. The food here is good and the prices here are ok. I normally come here cuz A. its close to work and B. for the service and yeah the meridian roll is pretty good too. Sometimes they'll throw in some free edamame or miso... if they like you =P
I heart I Love Sushi, it's my new favorite neighborhood sushi restaurant. By neighborhood I mean "solid place I can go to every week."
* nice selection, good quality
** clean and close to home
*** inexpensive, takes Amex!
**** the owners are awesome
As an update, apparently they've stopped doing free edamame and miso soup, though they'll sometimes throw in one or the other. I've also had a few rolls that didn't impress me too much (I Love Fire). Still a great place though!

Very lovely, tiny restaurant. There's just 5 or 6 tables. I went there after seeing their ad in the Pennysaver for their lunch special for $5.95. Very good deal. For $5.95, you get Chicken Teriyaki, 2 pieces of California Roll, and Rice. The service was great.
As several others have said, it is a good idea to park behind the place as it is located in a small strip mall with not much parking.
Our convenient and tasty neighborhood spot. Always great for quick udon and bento boxes. I always get the chick terriyaki/cali roll combo and my husband gets the salmon terriyaki/sashimi combo. Never lets us down. Friendly staff, fast service and convenient location make this a favorite.
This is our neighborhood sushi joint, and we've never been disappointed. Always fresh, and you get your order fairly fast, because it is a small store. Parking can be tricky, but there's ample space in the Goodwill lot next door.
A reliable and very friendly place for sushi and other Japanese cuisine. I usually stop by for lunch for a bento box. It has all the things I really like such as teriyaki chicken, tempura, miso soup, and California rolls.
Reasonable prices. The owners are very friendly and helpful. It is a small shop in a small strip mall with not lots of parking. Park behind if the front is full. Inside is very small with only about 6 total tables. Small but does the job!
Recommended for a quick and tasty lunch.
I love Sushi, well, there really isn't much else to it. So, the traffic on Meridian & Hamilton can be a pain & there is little seating, but all the cons end there. The employees are always welcoming and make a point to remember who you are. Their sushi is amazing, especially their fried california roll. My recommendation is order it to go, and go enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.
I'm a big fan of trying smaller establishments and this place was a hit! I love the sushi here. It's fresh and tasty. My husband and I come here often and just love the personal attention we get. Try the Paradise Tuna Roll it's yummy! Prices are good too. It seems that alot of locals frequent here. The establishment is small about 6-7 tables, the decor is a bit dated and need some attention, but it's clean and has good food!
I absolutely LOVE sushi, but not from this establishment. Anytime I find a hair in my food, it's an automatic one-star--nothing left to say but YUCK.
Eww. I don't like this place. I've only been once and the time I went my rice in the sushi wasn't cooked it was crunchy and hard. The prices are very cheap, but you basically get what you pay for. Not that great.
You won't leave here without hearing "thank u so much" at least three times. Pretty darn decent food at a decent price. A slightly above average place for a bento box. Haven't dived in too much into the good stuff cuz I would probably go to a nicer place for that.
This place is great for a quick pick-up during the lunch hour. If you call ahead, they usually have your food ready within 15 minutes. The lady who runs the place is sooooo sweet!! They are very polite and friendly and will customize your meal if you ask them to make some less/more spicy. Great tempura, tasty california rolls (very big too!), tasty tuna rolls and tasty special rolls as well. My only complaint is that if you order too many special rolls, your bill can get a little high (they start at 7.95 a piece and this is at lunch).
miniscule stripmall establishment....seperate lot from larger behind....proudly boasting sushi "love"....narrow korean/japanese restaurant sliver...counter front 'n' few tables back...empty in busy dinner hours...glass counters empty.....not a sliver of fish....nonexistent and ponder....where the fish?.....likely behind 'frig' doors...a guess....counter order for to go and opt for bento....standard miso 'n' salad combination....presentation fine and care given.....miso tasting fine and decent....standard dinner salad, but with sweet creamy mayo type dressing....bit sweet, bit thick....wanting lighter, but none....rice bowl fine in cooking, appearance 'n' taste.....pancaked tonkatsu thin and dense...sorry, but below par....chicken teriyaki bit dry....and extra charge for "spicy chicken teriyaki"....only finding to be squeeze of red sriracha....standard sauced rolls.....highlights being presentation, attitude 'n' service good....
I love sushi! This place is awesome and very good! Very good prices and you can call in your order! The owners are very nice and friendly!
