Review from Nicole B.
when my boss told me that this place had the best gelato she's had in her life (and she's enjoyed the gelatos of italy) i didn't believe her. c'mon! the best gelato is in provincetown? yea right!
i'm a believer now! the gelato here is heavenly! so delicious! i could actually feel the pounds being added up on the scale and i indulged again and again and again over my week stay on cape cod. and then again when i came back with a friend for a road trip one day. is it worth it? oh yea! -

I dream of gelato...I really, really do.
If you're a fan of gelato and spending anytime in P-Town, I highly recommend this shop. It's small, hidden, and oh so delicious.
There is a wide variety of highly caloric goodness and plenty of free samples to go around (maximize free consumption). Thankfully, the man working the line didn't mind the fact that I spent roughly 10 minutes just drooling over the options before actually making a decision on a tasting sample.
I decided on a small order of 2 different flavors. One was some yellow cakey choclatey drizzle concoction...it was good, but NOTHING like the peanut butter chocolate I picked as my second flavor. I'm thinking of starting a political movement to legalize human/peanut butter chocolate gelato marriage.
Feel free to shuffle over to the outdoor deck which overlooks the ocean and another deck of some gay bar nextdoor. As beautiful as the ocean is and as interesting as those gays are, I honestly have to say my eyes never drifted from the spoon making its way from the cup of gelato to my pie-hole.
Just shy of 5 stars for being twice the price of my gelato place in Methuen--Dolce Freddo Gelato.Listed in: I'm serious about dessert.

Our love story all began in the summer of '06...
*swirly dream sequence*
I went to PTown with a few of my favorite derby girls to flyer for the first official Boston Derby Dame season! While down there it was decided that we would stop by a gelato place that had recently signed up to sponsor our league. I had never heard of gelato before but I was pretty much down for anything. When we stepped inside the door I was in awe!
ICE CREAAAAMMMMM!
With only half the calories and less than half the fat *lessthanthree lessthanthree lessthanthree*
There were 24 magical flavors locked inside a spotless case (well it was spotless until I pressed my face up against it like a puppy) and they're all made from scratch DAILY! In total there are 120 flavors in rotation. It took everything in me not to twirl and dance around with glee. And wait! You're telling me I can sample as many flavors as I want! In that case I want that one and that one and that one and that one and that one....
When I finally picked a flavor I held onto my little cup like it was the most precious fragile thing in the entire world.
I knew then that IDOG would always hold a special place in my heart!
And it's been love ever since.
I really do dream of you, gelato! -

Two words: Zabaglione Gelato.
Seriously. Order it. Eat it. AMAZING.
Also, the service is very good and they'll let you try before you buy.
Why three stars?
Well, I can officially say I had a mediocre threesome in P-Town...
The Zabaglione was an amazing performer... but the Hazelnut tried way too hard and the Tiramisu promised way more than it delivered.
I suppose that's how it goes.... from now on, I'm monogamous... besides..
Zabaglione,
I've been meaning to tell you this and I just didn't know how to say it... but... I love you. Oh, also, since we let Christopher try you, I have to tell you... he seemed pretty into you too! Oh, I know I said we'd be monogamous but he's got those cute chipmunk cheeks and even though he resisted you he thought you were soooo good. Let's get together soon, okay. With or without him. It's your call, but, please, leave YOUR friends at home.Listed in: Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…, YEL-P-Town!!!

This is my favorite Gelato place in PTown. I recall thinking the apple flavor is amazing but like any good gelato place sometimes they have it sometimes they don't.
Agreed with another reviewer, don't go to the purple place up the street. -

Definitely not as good as the gelato of Florence, Italy, but pretty darn good for a stateside sweet--especially on a hot summer day.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a sugar-free cappuccino flavor among all the other "regular" flavors. This option is definitely worth 3 stars for variety's sake. Disappointingly, it was lacking in flavor. Although I enjoyed the option of cutting down on my sugar intake, the quality of the flavor definitely suffered. If given another chance, I would stay away from this particular sugar-free option.
However...since the small size yields two flavor choices, I chose the hazelnut to accompany the coffee. It was wonderful. The hazelnut had a nice, full flavor--not to be missed in your next gelato excursion in P-town.
One word to the wise, bring cash. They don't accept credit/debit. Also, I'd say that the gelato here is a little more spendy than what you might see in the city.
Plus, as Jeffrey H. already pointed out, the outdoor waterfront seating is magnificent. -

I was down here last summer during a day in the 80's. As pointed out by others, the deck just outside the store is wonderful, catching the breezes and providing a wonderful view of the jetty and surrounding environs.
The gelato itself was very good. It has been a while, but I had one that was coconut-based. The only issue I found with it is that the milkfat content was so high that it was a race to eat it instead of being able to savor it! It ended up flowing down the cup and melting into my hand a good amount. Wonderful flavor and excessively fatty, but the interaction with the gelato... is... difficult. Keep a napkin in your hand holding the dish! -

Generous proportions in a nice venue. But the gelato was uneven. Hazelnut was excellent both in flavor and texture but chocolate was decidedly second-rate.

This gelato is so fresh and so delicious. I love to pop in and grab a bite when I have time in Provincetown. I like the specialty flavors that are featured often. Always a pleasant surprise, always tasty. They have great coffee too for reasonable pricing.
