Seriously Yummy? Check Plus!
In search of a proper biryani my wife and I sought this place on the recommendation of a Hindustani friend. Imran has stated correctly -- follow the cabbies. The parking lot was packed, but there is plenty on the street. We brought a couple of Kingfisher pint bottles with because we had read online that it was BYOB. Whoever wrote that is a jerk, because the place appears to be operated by Muslims -- no alcohol allowed. I felt like a dumbass and apologized profusely, but all my embarrassment was washed away in the wake of the yummy food to follow.
We had the lamb biryani and the fried beef with a couple paratha. It came out quickly and they served it with a side of chopped onions and raita. We were pleased through and through. This place may not be the best or most chic, but considering the price it is a hard one to beat. I am unimpressed by fancy decor; it's all about the food. Some of the best food I have eaten in my travels has been street food or dhaba-type places. Of course, the French Laundry is my nirvana; however, I digress.
If you are looking for some cheap and tasty biryani, go here. If you are looking for a good place to go on a date with someone who is not adventurous, look elsewhere.
im going to throw out the same advise in this review i give to anyone looking to find good indian food around chicago:
go where the cabbies go.
follow the erratic lane changes, the dramatic push on the accelerator almost immediately met by a sudden press on the brakes, the swerves a go-go. because you know ultimately that the bearded man in the drivers seat will get hungry- and drive to only the finest indian cuisine that reminds him best of his homeland.
personally, i prefer ghareeb nawaaz. but one night my friends and i were hungry for indian, and for some reason ghareeb was closed- and we were lured into the dingy little establishment of hyderabad house. GOOD CHOICE, THOUGH.
i think across the street, there's a cleaned up version of this place. my friends, because we're all adventurers, chose the dirty, ramshackle option.
we were all pleased with the food. especially the fried beef, a staple really in every hyderabadi household yet something ghareeb e nawaaz doesn't offer.
so go there. go there for the beef. fried, delicious, beef.
Dirty place and mediocre food. The only reason I tried this place because the sign said"Hyderabad" biryani. Any biryani connoisseur will agree that Hyderabad biryani is the best. I was totally disappointed.
I think the dept. of public health closed this place a while ago for health code violations. They may have reopened after that incident but, I will stay away.

5 of us visited. Husband and I, Julie and Neal, and Anne.
Jeremy and I got lamb biryani and chicken masala. The lamb biryani was magnificent. Better than Ghareeb Nawaz. Excellently spiced. Nice chunks of lamb. No scary bones or chunks of fat. Great. The chicken masala was also very good. Fairly mild. 3 chunks of chicken in a bath of red, tomato-ey, spicy, lovely. The chicken was really tender and great grabbed with a piece of paratha and a little onion. They brought plates of onions and raida to the table, along with some sort of chili spicy sauce. I thought the paratha was great. Jeremy still prefers naan, but didn't see it on the menu (which is written on a white board at the front where you order. Pay after you eat.) Julie and Neal got Dum Ka Kheema, which was some sort of ground, spiced meat. Tasty, but a little weird. Neal and I both tried a mango lassi. Totally different from the 2 previous. It was a plain yogurt drink with chunks of mango (homemade) icecream floating in it. Julie swore there was some rosewater in there. Anne got a chicken biryani that no one really tried, we were so full when it came out. The food did come out variously, and maybe the chicken biryani was forgotten until we reminded him. English was a little shaky. But we were treated well and the food was excellent. Would come back here for the biryani, definitely. The bill came out to $44 for the 5 people, plus tax. Not too shabby!
The place is not so amusing. I would suggest carrying out especially with their limited amount of parking space. Other than that, the food is okay and the service is pretty quick!
