First off the wait staff is kind of rude. Secondly, i understand were on the beach which makes prices a bit higher but $24 for a landshark larger and a rum and coke is ridiculous. Why they don't use typical alcohols is beyond me. A margarita is $30 bc they only use patron. The Romans coke was made with Bacardi 8 so it was $12 and a basic lager is $7. Also gratuityis included in the bill.

The food options weren't all that appealing either and there wasn't much of an array of choices. Chips and guac is 8. There are some salads and sandwiches most of which have an anchovy dressing I don't know many people who are fond on anchovies but I digress

The location is awesome and the view is fantastic. But I don't think a captain and coke is too much to ask for. Also, you can't order a sangria unless you order an entire pitcher for $45. Way to lose money, Hyde. The great location and view doesn't take away from the over priced menu and rude service.

Hyde Beach Kitchen has some kind of 90210 vibe. I swag-walked in with my sunglasses and immediately felt like the coolest chick in town. The place oozes with confidence. Nice nautical decor, beautiful views of the beach- and if it's a day where all is in your favor as in weather, crowd and service...it could be one of your best experiences.

My group happened to have one of these favorable days this past weekend. We were the first to arrive for 6 PM dinner- weather was phenomenal- with perfect breeze and the sun slightly tucked away. No birds came swooping in to tackle me or steal my food and service wasn't bad at all. Not to mention, the crowd as it trickled in for dinner were all classy and respectable looking Cindy Crawfords and Don Johnsons.

I ordered the lobster mac and cheese which was delicious! Probably my favorite to date- and I'm a mac and cheese kinda girl so I'd know. I'm also a fried chicken and waffle kinda girl- and it definitely did not disappoint. While it's not my favorite of all time- it was still my favorite meal of the day. Something about sweet and salty just gets me. Portions are definitely large enough to share. While the macaroni was a side dish- it can easily be split 2-3 ways. Chicken and waffles as well- as shown on the pic.

Overall it was a great dinner with a beautiful view!

      Review for Sunday Brunch:
Four of us came here for their Sunday brunch and boy was it spectacular....I'm talking the view! I totally love a great view at a restaurant and this def did not disappoint. I loved the nautical decor and modern vibe the restaurant has. Indoor is beautiful just as outdoor. The Food setup for brunch was good. Plenty of little areas for you to go to get food. The food was good. Nothing caught my eye that I can say was outstanding but overall a good brunch especially for the price.

We live in South Florida yet beachside dining is ridiculously hard to come by. Hyde fills this void and adds a little more to the mix. The freestanding building houses several different businesses: a beachside casual eats restaurant and bar during the day downstairs, a small gift shop, upscale dining on the second floor, a tiny spa on the first floor, and a rooftop for events including Saturday yoga. The Hyde Resort & Residences tower being built directly behind them should be opening later this year.

I have now visited twice: lunch and dinner. Both times I used valet parking. I'm not sure what the alternative is given all the construction and heavy traffic at that intersection.

      LUNCH

Every single thing we ordered to eat was a hit: the LOBSTER ROLL, ROCK SHRIMP TACOS, CEVICHE and CHIPS, and MUSHROOM PIZZA (this pizza was a dream). I did find the Hibiscus Punch cocktail too sweet for my taste. Everything was served "to-go" despite us sitting there and not "going" anywhere. The waitress said they do it that way because they were serving the adjacent beach chair crowd initially, although they no longer do. Not sure if they will eventually have real plates and silverware. It really is a shame. The food would be highlighted so much better with them. Leave those paper plates for the real to-go orders! The service was also lacking. Our waitress was nice when there, but a little aloof as well. But, like I said, the location is killer and I enjoyed the food. If they could get the service under control, it would be perfect!

      DINNER

I love the interiors on the second floor! Although I hate the interior design cliche phrase "bringing the outside in," that is exactly the best way to describe them. The materials and textures all scream OCEAN without it being kitschy. Within minutes of our arrival, the rain started to come down pretty badly. Most of the outside diners moved inside. I'd requested an inside table so I was safe. Ha! We purposely went during their full moon celebration and the view did not disappoint.

Once again, the food was a hit.

KUMAMOTO OYSTERS- seemed smaller than usual, but they were good.

CORVINA- spiced tomato sauce, basmati rice, chickpeas, ansheim chilies, and salsa verde. This was a true delight. Flavorful and with just the right char on the fish served skewered. Loved it.

HAMACHI SASHIMI- also loved this one. We'd ordered this as an appetizer and inhaled it. They brought out a second one by mistake and we got to keep it. Score!

SALMON- vadouvan, cucumber relish, quinoa salad, red wine reduction. Less flavorful than the corvina, but still very good.

We did not order dessert or bread.

Service was good, although it could have been a little more personable. The restaurant was completely slammed. We were seated by the entrance and noticed guests were coming in nonstop. Perhaps our waiter was overwhelmed? Another observation, I'd written on my Opentable reservation that it was my friend's birthday. When they called to confirm, they asked and inquired about it so that they could "make sure they brought out a candle for her." I also mentioned it to the waiter that night, but eventually nothing was brought out. I know we didn't order dessert, but I think they could have brought out something tiny just to acknowledge her birthday... a cookie? strawberries? anything! It wasn't about the dessert, but more about celebrating. That was disappointing.

I'm going with four stars because they have the hardest part down...the food! Just like my lunch comment, I feel there is still work to be done when it comes to service and logistics for this beach newcomer. Luckily for Hyde, that's the easier part. A diamond in the rough for now, but they will hopefully learn to shine brightly and perfectly soon. I'd love to see them succeed and stick around!

My friend found this spot and it was a 10 minute walk from our hotel. Most of the grounds are under construction so we didn't know what to expect. It was dimly lit, but we followed the lanterns on the staircase illuminating the path to our Happy Place... or so it seemed.

First off, this establishment is incredible. The restaurant is open, airy, and has beach modern decor. We entered through the bar area which has breezy, beautiful, gorgeous views of the moonlit water.

We were ignored by the hosts/hostesses until one host snootily told us that "the bar was the only first come, first serve area." Whatever dude.

After shooting a cool video at their Hot Point App Video Booth, we made our way to the bar and ordered two drinks. I had a glass of dessert wine while my friend had a glass of cab. We really enjoyed the cool spring night. Our bill came to $40.03 including tax and 18%tip. I put a $50 + .03 cents (hey I didn't think they'd mind). But when those pennies flew out, I thought the bartender was going to have a coronary.

Overall, I would be really hesitant about coming to this place. It's trying so hard to be South Beach, when it's really just Hallandale. Like Lizelle A. said, we could drink at home or in our case, the hotel room. If you are nicer to people, they will give you a more generous tip than 18%. I didn't check out the bathroom, but wouldn't be surprised if that was reserved as well.

This is a new place and my second visit. Location is outstanding at the beautiful Hallandale beach. They offer several options in the "tapas" way and the idea is to share. We were 4 and end up ordering more than needed. The best were the amazing mussels, the short-ribs with mash potatoes (omg so tasting) and the corvina, fresh and perfectly executed. The ceviche and the lobster alfredo pasta were ok and the fried calamari, well... we would not order again.
Service wasn't good this time. We didn't have a reservation and we felt unwelcome, what did not happened in the first visit.
We gave 5 star at the first visit and our party would give a 3 star this time. I kept it in the middle and will return to see if we came now in the wrong night, hoping that the first outstanding impression will come back

I visited Hyde beach 3 times in one week while I was at a conference in Hollywood. After the first time, I was absolutely hooked. The restaurant is walking distance from the Diplomat, about 10-15 minutes away. The service is really great (especially Ben). His recommendations were on point.

We tried a lot of dishes but here were our favorites:
-tuna tartare: sits on a bed of avocado, super flavorful
      -octopus: absolutely fantastic
-Thai mussels: I could eat this sauce by the spoonful!!!
      -lobster Mac and cheese: delicious
-chili crab served with steamed buns: amazing! Probably my favorite dish
-mushroom pizza: recommended by the waiter, to die for
      -banana split dessert: really awesome

Dishes that were good but not memorable:
      -ceviche
      -calamari
      -short ribs
      -lobster pasta

The cocktails were all tasty, my favorite was the one with strawberry purée. I would definitely recommend Hyde Beach and will be trying other Hyde locations when possible!

There are some great spots in Broward that don't get talked about enough. One is Hyde, where I popped into today.
I was driving by and thought to pop in. It's a place where a reservation is a very good idea to have, but I figured worst case we would just eat at the bar.
We actually were given a table, not on the rail over looking the ocean, but I knew I should have called ahead.
We got there during the pre-dinner menu. You would think there wouldn't be much on there, but it's full of some of the best things to eat at Hyde in my opinion.
We got Fritto Misto, Beef Gyoza and ceviche tacos.
      All three are stunningly good.
The tacos are small but hit your pallet like a brick. Definitely spicer than you will be excepting.
The Beef Gyoza is a great grab, and a succulent bite.
And the Fritto is the home run. Scallops, rock shrimp and Calamari lightly fried to a tasty crispy treat.
I have been here for everything from a late brunch to just a quick beverage, and have never been let down.
Great service, a good morning DJ, and one of the best restaurants vistas in South Broward. I am Always glad to have a reason to stop into Hyde.

Amazing setting is all you get. In addition to the setting, if you'd like great food and super nice service you go two blocks away to the Diplomat across the street.

Here at the Hyde service couldn't be more inattentive. Half a dozen servers wandering aimlessly ignoring the two tables they've got in the entire place. They have a Happy Hour but their servers don't appear to know about it, and they don't have happy hour menus either. When asked about a menu I got a stare treatment. Really? Finally, someone dug out a single menu for the entire restaurant, it was dirty, and the happy hour had no drinks on it, just some small food items. What?!

Pricing is really out of touch with reality, too. The Diplomat's happy hour glass of wine is $5 for Kim Crawford and the pour is super generous- 2.5 glasses in one. You'll save AND ENJOY three times your money if you go there.

At the Diplomat two blocks away and across the street. The Hyde can't come close.

I came here on Friday night because I had heard great things and was finally in the area. We had reservations and we were seated immediately. We chose to sit outside overlooking the beach. It was absolutely gorgeous. Our server was very attentive and the food as well as the drinks were delicious. We will definitely be back. The only reason I do not give this place 5 stars is because it was a chilly and windy night and they do not have heat lamps outside which was odd to me, but other than that our experience was great. Must go!
