25 reviews for Hyatt Vineyard Creek
This place is overpriced, but I think everything decent in Santa Rosa is because there are a lot of VERY BAD motels in town. And its in a part of town that's close to everything, which is hard to find.
I booked a block of rooms here for our wedding and somehow got talked into booking far more than I needed then signing a contract saying I would fill them all - or pay anyway. We were about 6 short, but the hotel managed to fill them so it worked out. The manager who talked me into that has since left and been replaced by a great guy who went above and beyond by communicating with me frequently about our rooms, etc. Their common area includes a great courtyard with comfy furniture and a fire "pit" (but fancier) that was a great place to gather after our wedding. The pool is saline and a great temp.
Our room was not as advertised, which kind of annoyed me - for $260 we reserved the "resort suite" which was purported to be 700 square feet. No way was it even 500 sq. ft. Let me just say that it shouldn't count as double showerheads if you just have two crappy showerheads right next to one another on the same spout. Two showerheads should really only mean two on separate walls. The shower was so small that two showerheads had no effect anyway. The vanity in the bathroom didn't have nearly enough counter space. But the beds were really comfy. For that price though, I expected better.
Okay, the hotel is nice, I give you that, but I have two MAJOR misgivings about this place:
1. They offer you free breakfast but don't tell you about it. Apparently, if you go to the front desk and ask about the breakfast, you get a voucher for one item free at the adjacent hotel restaurant. I had no idea until Karen told me about it...and it was her parents who found out.
2. They must have run out of money renovating the place because NONE OF THE BATHROOM DOORS CLOSE!!! Now, if you ask the front desk (which I did), they'll claim that the doors close but don't lock. Umm....NO. It's a sliding door that doesn't click shut, and there's actually a slit so you can see exactly what is going on inside (!?!?!?!!?).

If you do not like cigarette smoke, do not stay at the Hyatt.
When we reserved our room, we asked for non-smoking. What a surprise to find we were awakened in the middle of the night by cigarette smoke wafting into our room from under our door. I got up to check and saw that the door across the hall from us was open. Was a person smoking in the hall or did they just have the door open while smoking? I don't know.
When I complained at the desk, I was told the hotel had very few smoking rooms, but too bad for us, one of them was right across the hall from our room. When I asked the manager if he could ask the person not to smoke in the hall, he said no. I told him most hotels did not even allow smoking anymore (think of the fire hazard!) and he just stated, "We do." He offered to come spray my room with air freshener. EEEWWWWW. If there is something I hate as much as cigarette smoke, it is fake air freshener! And what was he going to do, come spray every time the guy had a cigarette?? Anyway, the manager offered not so much as an apology. When I told him I would never choose this chain to stay at again, he could not have cared less. I am just one little person ( me and the three other members of my family who stayed here for a wedding, that is!)
Me likey. That's all you need to know.
"Thanks Priceline--for getting me excited about nothing..."
I was on a long term assignment (commissioned photography project) this August and stayed here on my way up to Seattle. I was quite excited to finally stop driving and set down my bags in a nice hotel, in a city I enjoy.
Well--at the conclusion of my trip I had stayed at everything from really cheap motels to really great world-class suites. This Hyatt was below the average line based on the final detail of my voyage.
Drab decor, no free Wi-Fi (huge charge for it when most motels give it away as standard service)..and construction in the courtyard........
Santa Rosa is lovely, and this is in walking distance to some cute little restaurants...........but overall--below average.
Come on Hyatt--live up to your name or change it to "Myatt" (Motel + Hyatt).

Very nice CLEAN hotel. Must've been renovated recently cause my room looked nothing like the pics on here. Has an outdoor fire pit that you can enjoy while sitting outside. Didn't go swimming but the pool area looked nice and clean. Requested chocolate strawberries delivered to my room for my bf's birthday and they came right on time and were delicious. Walking distance from a little downtown area with restaurants and lots of antique stores. I would definitely stay here again.
For a Hyatt, this one is substandard - probably the worst Hyatt I've ever stayed at. The guy who checked us in at the front desk had an obvious snooty air about him. Sometimes I wonder what gives the staff at these high end places the right to be so elitist... they do know they work in the customer service industry right? I brought in a $100 gift certificate I got from my Discover Card rewards and he immediately asked if I had mentioned that at the time of reservation and said he'd have to get back to me about its usability. No apologies, no obvious effort in wanting to help... just an upturned nose just cuz I wanted to use a voucher.. ugh, is that beneath you?
Now onto the hotel rooms. The room is on the smaller side for a Hyatt and doesn't even come with a minibar - now that's a first, I thought that's how hotels liked to make their money. The decor reflects the cottagey, wine country feel. Our room did have a nice little outside patio area, but we didn't go out there at all. The beds are plush, just like other Hyatts I've stayed in. I don't know what it was about the room, but I must've been allergic to dust mites or something. I kept coughing and sneezing the weekend I was here.
The good thing is that this Hyatt is right off the 101 fwy so it's close to Healdsburg and within walking distance of downtown Santa Rosa. Drive 30 minutes east and you'll also hit Sonoma. Even if this Hyatt failed at everything else, at least its location made things convenient for us during our time in wine country.
Btw, in the end we did get to use our $100 gift certificate, but we only found that out after we took a look at our end bill.

I just spent a few days in the Westin Market Street in San Francisco. I love Westins and I'm not fond of Hyatts (a bias I picked up doing a conference at a Hyatt in San Jose).
But I really like this Hyatt! In many ways, I like it as much as the Westin (although the view is nothing to get excited about). They're renovating the place and it's at a point where the carpets and drapes (which they replaced yesterday while we were here) are new and there really isn't any thing old or seed left in the place.
The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable, they have a CD player in the room a decent HD TV, a few chairs, a bench, a desk (with only 2 plugs). Clean, new, well tended. I like it.
The curtains are awesome! Because I'm here to recover from my recent ordeal, I wanted to sleep in. With the curtains it was pitch black in here! Really nice!
The elevators are a bit slow. I swear it takes almost as long to get to the 3rd floor of this hotel as it did to get to the 34th floor of the Westin. And the carpets downstairs (but not upstairs, thank goodness) have that "we just got put in" smell. But that will pass in a few days (weeks?) so it's probably OK.
We went to the spa for a few treatments. I thought the web page was very poor in it's descriptions. Hard to tell what you might get from one package vs. another. But the actual treatment -- couples massage -- was very good and we both enjoyed it. I also had a manicure and pedicure but I found it kind of uncomfortable -- like pampering yourself by going to have your teeth cleaned. My wife had a facial and she loved it -- I wish I had done that, instead.
Also, this hotel is close to a LOT of stuff. The "Historic Railroad Square" itself is kind a joke (all we found at the center of it were two moldering cars on a siding) but the shops that have grown up around it are quaint, fun and interesting. Very pleasant.
It's also a short walk to the "downtown area" centered on the courthouse square and very close to the "downtown mall".
On the whole I highly recommend this place. It think it's now underrated here on Yelp because of the recent renovation.
We just had our wedding in Sonoma recently and chose the Hyatt as our home base for ourselves and out of town guests. They recently completed their renovations and the rooms look great. The courtyard areas have all been re-furbished and are neat gathering places accompanied by a daily wine tasting. Their bar and patio area is quite spacious and the food at the restaurant on the premises is very good. We also had our rehearsel dinner next to the outdoor waterfall towards the back of the property. We were very impressed with the quality of the renovations to the property. We were also fortunate enough to work with the special events coordinator Raghda whom we highly recommend. She is very patient and really does try to go out of her way to help you and your guests feel special (even during stressful times)!!!
The rooms smelled like fresh paint upon checking in and continued to smell that way the two days we stayed there....if they're going to paint they should at least do a better job of airing it out so you don't have to huff paint while your trying to sleep.
For the location I can't really complain about the price though.
Avoid the overpriced restaurant next door (Brasserie) at all cost though. We had duck that tasted like liver or sirloin steak. They overcooked the chicken. They couldn't even pull off a spinach salad. We checked in late, so we were desperate...
They boast an outdoor fire pit, but it barely puts off any heat...unless your walking across the hot coals (or bits of glass in this case?). I felt like a hobo trying to huddle around the fire for warmth.
We had to take our own bags to our rooms....kind of strange for a supposedly upscale hotel chain.
The location leaves something to be desired (not to contradict my earlier comment). It's an industrial park with a view of the 101 freeway. The upside is the surrounding coffee shops, vintage shops, and restaurants (still kicking myself for eating at the damn hotel).
Okay one bright spot--we had a very good wine tasting in the lobby from Twomey. The rep from the vinyard gave us some great suggestions for the next day. So if the hotel leaves much to be desired, at least they pull in some good talent from around the area.

The only reason why we went to this hotel was because our favorite B & B was booked, and we had enough points for a free room at the Hyatt.
The picture posted on yelp is exactly how our room looked, and if there was a picture of "stank" that I could post, I would. The room smelled HORRIBLE. It was a cross between burnt popcorn, mold and the smell of ass. We finally figured out that it was the comforter, so we bundled it up and stuck it in the corner of the room. The smell was only moderately better after that. I can only assume that the room hadn't been given a deep scrub in a few years; there were layers upon layers of dust everywhere.
I would advise not to stay at this hotel when there are comfy B & B's with all the comforts of home all over the county. I thank my lucky stars that we are out of Hyatt points.

A few months back, I was planning a trip to Monterey and was considering staying at the Hyatt Regency there. I noticed that Hyatt was having a promotion -- they would elevate you to Platinum status in the rewards program just for signing up. So, I did. But, I did not stay at the Hyatt in Monterey.
However, when I checked into this Hyatt, I was pleased to find that I had been upgraded to an Executive Suite. The room was quite large with high ceilings. They bathroom was huge too. It had a roomy shower stall with an awesome dual shower head. But, there was no light overhead and the the bathroom in general was a little dark. As was the room which overlooked an inner courtyard that happened to be under renovation. The bath products were from Portico and super yummy smelling.
The bed was very comfy and we received the extra pillows I had requested online.
When I awoke I saw that my bill had been slipped under the door. When I looked at it I noticed that I had been double charged. I called down to the front desk and spoke with Brad who immediately remedied the situation. After a disastrous breakfast at the Brasserie (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) I went to the front desk to complain and again dealt with Brad who was very apologetic. When I returned to check out and to make sure that my bill had been corrected, I dealt again with Brad. He was awesome. He felt bad to the billing mix up and the awful breakfast that he knocked $75 off of my room rate of $199. That was over and above!
A little customer service, can go a long way. Thanks, Brad!

If I could give zero stars, I totally would. I had the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel here. It's a long story, the AC unit blew out room temperature air, apparently that's "just the way they work." The manager wasn't very accomodating, then got downright rude. Especially once finding out we were a dreaded "http://Priiiicceeeline..." customer. We tried complaining to the Hyatt 800 number. Nada.
Guess I won't ever be staying at a Hyatt establishment ever again. Not that they care.

Despite only living an hour a way in SF, we made a last minute reservation here for memorial day weekend . What a pleasant surprise! The hotel was very well maintained, had a great gym, steam room, spa and our rooms were very nice and modern. I want to buy the bed we slept in ~ it was by far the best hotel bed I've ever experienced. For the rate we paid ($140 / night plus a $50 credit), we expected bad service and haphazard amentities to be available. The concierges, Ramon and Heather, went out of their way to make sure we had plans and had appropriate directions for all of the wineries we were visiting. I generally have not been a fan of hyatts, but I think they've turned over a new leaf with the vineyard creek hotel.
the phone reservation rep and front desk folks were pleasant. first impression the room as nice and overall true except for the upholstered chairs, we called them "papi's a little sloppy" chairs (seinfeld fans will know what i'm sayin) - there were stains ALL over them, armrests and seat cushions so we didn't use them. the bed was comfy, no fridge with drinks/snacks. average bathroom but great complimentary shampoo/conditioner. basics good (hairdryer. coffeemaker, etc). no view to speak of except for the hotel courtyard.
the spa service was FANTASTIC. got the signature massage coupled with the 25 min. body scrub, SO amazing and will get it next time too.
got back to the room to order room service and a in-theater movie. they delivered in 20 minutes and what a very yummy satisfying meal: warm goat cheese & spinach salad, seared ahi, burger, grilled cheese and cheesecake were ALL delicious. prices were average for room service however there was 19% gratuity charge included in total.
Its placed close to a ton of restaurants, coffee spots and local brewery which we will checkout next time. a few blocks away from mall.
We would definitely stay here if we were to visit the area again. If it wasn't for the "papi's a little sloppy" chairs i would have issued 5 stars.
I came here for a family wedding reception, so my review is not really based on the price or location. There was a nice outdoor courtyard for cocktails and apps, but the banquet room was incredibly dismal. There was not a single window, and the nearest bathrooms were a decently far walk through the hotel. The after party at the hotel bar was a good time, but the stupid waiter didn't seem to understand what a Mandarin and Soda was... I guess in Santa Rosa people don't drink flavored vodka? I ended up staying in my cousin's room rather than heading home with the fam (okay, I passed out in my dress, don't judge!) Extra points for the comfy roll-away bed.
Fast forward to 5:30 the next morning, I woke up totally sick from the night's drink-fest and needed some hangover goodies (Gatorade, Tylenol, food). When I called the front desk they suggested I go across the street to the Courtyard Marriott for supplies. Wtf! I can't believe a hotel would recommend a competitor for gift shop items it doesn't carry itself.
Nothing special, but if you stay here, be sure to bring a pre-made hangover kit!

Oh, the "Air Conditioning"....yeah, right...like previous posters have stated...it blows room temp air and doesn't cool it at all. The walls are pretty thin, but that's not bad compared to the towels and sheets. I paid over 300 dollars for a luxury room and got (I am NOT kidding) threadbare sheets and very un-luxurious towels. The sheets were so cheap, they just screamed "WALMART SALE". The hotel is not bad, it's just really bad for the price. Oh, and the TV was at such a strange angle, you couldn't watch it from bed.

OK let's preface this review by noting that I drank wine for 7 hours on Saturday so, really, my thought processes and other faculties were a little frayed from about 1 pm on Saturday until probably around 2 or 3 am last night when I was sound asleep and my body was flushing the last of the De Loach Green Valley Pinot from my body...
Anywho, this Hyatt is nicely situated in that it is walking distance from downtown Santa Rosa which has great potential but is basically dead in the water. What I mean by that is that there were lots of cute stores and cute small streets, but no people around? You know? It was like the Motherhumping Stand by Stephen King...
Sorry, digression really is a super talent for me. Like I said, conveniently located if you want to walk out for dinner or drinks in the bizarro downtown area, and GREAT if you want to drink in the Russian River Wine Country near by. Our rooms were nice and the beds super comfie, but I had a philosophical debate with my roommate about the need for bizarre canopies over the bed decorated with Quail. I mean, really, what gives?
Also, when one is shaking from alcohol withdrawal in the morning and requires a power bar, gatorade and tylenol, it is really motherfucking stupid not to have an on-site gift shop on the premises. I mean, this is a relatively big hotel with a spa and glorious fitness room....and no little gift shop for hotel guests who require immediate hang over relief. I had to schlep outside to a nearby restaurant and buy a freaking pumpkin muffin from the hostess. Pa-thetic, I don't want normal people seeing me melting into the ground with alcohol induced starvation!
Get a gift shop and I'll up the score.
PS - thanks to the lobby guys for giving us water at 2 am and allowing us to demonstrate our years of ballet training on their tile floors...you guys totally rule. Oh yes, and also thanks for letting us back into our room after we got locked on the balcony and then scaled the fence...that was so weird. Unsure how that happened really....

If you don't want to go the bed and breakfast route, the Hyatt Vineyard Creek is a pretty good choice. We liked the location because we could make our way to many different places in wine country with relative ease and the downtown Santa Rosa retail district is an easy walk away. And the concierge was awesome about recommending wineries and providing coupons. Yay, coupons!
The beds were really fabulous (we even stole a couple of pillows ... shhhhh) and the hot tub out by the pool was really nice (if a bit over-run with children). The only complaint was the decor. Although the lobby seemed to have the appropriate Sonoma Style look, the rooms took the theme a little overboard so as to be a bit cheesy.
The restaurant was good for breakfast and the service there was very lovely.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek and definitely would recommend it for folks heading to wine country!
I really enjoyed my stay. I didn't have an experience similar to some of the previous reviewers. The bedding was nice and the temperature was balanced, and there were no strange smells. I will say the walls (or in this case the ceilings) are thin. The folks upstairs sounded like they were roller-discoing. It is located right off 101 and is easy to find. The food at the restaurant was decent and the service was good. I would go back.
Nice hotel located right off the 101 fwy to jump on. Bed & pillows are SO comfy, you can fall asleep right away. The city of Santa Rosa doesn't have as much going on. Healdsburg is only 15-20 mins north from here. There are 2 places where you can have coffee in the AM & not have to drive out to Starbucks & within walking distance north of the hotel.
This a good centrally located spot between healsburg and downtown sonoma. The room is decent and clean. You won't be spending much time in the room or on the grounds because you should be getting your drink on. I've stayed here twice paying the AAA rate at $130/night plus free breakfast next door and the second time for $60/night on http://priceline.com. For the weekend rates I locked in I definitely cannot complain. The only complaint I do have, however, is the comforter on the bed had nasty white stains. I kid you not. Eventhough I added to the stains it was still gross. :p

Priceline, priceline, priceline...
A++ for the day concereige who showed us the way through Heraldsburg and the Russian River Valley.
The room was acceptable, however there was a weird floral canopy contraption over the bed that was dusty and again, weird. Anyway, I did not notice this passing out drunk at 10 p.m. A-hole guests twelve years removed from their meathead frat party like it here
and somehow now like wine!!! beware.
As a side note, Santa Rosa has a contained little main street with an *excellent* italian restaurant called loccoco's. very authentic italian food, atmosphere and waiters food is homemade--order from the specials menu

I have been slightly disappointed by this Hyatt. Nothing horrendous, just little things, like a swimming pool area not very well lighted or at all welcoming at night, no robes provided in the room, lots of dust on the top of the bed which is obviously visible when you are lying there. On the positive side, we paid "only" $160/night included taxes during a weekend.

My experience with the Hyatt was pretty good. I checked in at 12AM and after three nights checked out at 5AM (the graveyard shift people sure are wide awake at all hours). I didn't encounter any retards, I'm even temped to go back (non-business this time) and take up the offer to play hide and seek in the hotel. They were very flexible and all smiles - I like that.
