6 reviews for Hyatt Valencia
Yes, I am a fan. Mostly because I like to pamper myself, and it is rare when I do. The Hyatt IS expensive and luxurious. They don't add any frills for your buck, so you are left really paying for all of your pampering.
First, the bed - so wonderful. One of the best beds I have ever slept on. The pillows add so much to the greatness of the bed.
Next, the pool/hot tub - so nice. In October you can go out for a dip and sit in the hot tub. You can order a drink from the bar and just relax.
Finally - THE STAFF! They are the icing on the cake. I had the wonderful opportunity of having the help of Danny, at the front desk. I was never treated less than VIP. Every hiccup by the hotel was handled right away, and I left with a wonderful experience and memories to last a lifetime.
Now, there were a few issues that I had with my reservation and the hotel: 1. - I ordered the Amore package for the first night stay (included chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne), and it was not in the room like I asked when we arrived. When I called down to get it, it took them an hour to get it to us. 2. - They only gave me one voucher for breakfast when I should have gotten two, but in their defense, they took care of the mistake. 3. - They do not offer complimentary internet service. We had to pay $10 a day to have internet usage! 4. - They do not have any shuttle service at all.
The best impression I can say of this place is THEY GAVE AWAY MY HOTEL ROOM ON MY WEDDING NIGHT!!!
You read that right. The room was booked months in advance, but suddenly, when we got there at 1:30 in the morning we were told my honeymoon room and package had been mistakenly given away....to prom kids none the less!
They offered to find us a room at the nearby la quinta or holiday inn!! On my wedding night? NO way! After standing in the lobby crying for 25 minutes they said they found a DNR room (do not reserve room) where the only problem was the phone didn't work. They said we could have it minus the champagne and strawberries and welcome stuff for honeymooners we had reserved because the kitchen was closed. We would make do, who wants a phone on their wedding night? Oh no though, the phone wasn't the only problem. The shower didn't drain at all! Nothing like standing in cold shower water the next morning!
Obviously we didn't pay for this room, but I didn't feel like a free defective room really made up for screwing up the most memorable night of your life! I guess I expected a handwritten apology or SOMETHING by the time I got home from our cruise. Nothing came but my mother in law had talked to management there who said they would send a room voucher. Months went by, my life was busy, and I finally found the card and called and the manager she had spoken too who said "well I never heard from you so I didn't think to send anything". Apparently I was supposed to call and remind them that they need to make up for world's worst customer service?
After going back and forth on the phone (they only wanted to give me a voucher for the Valencia Hyatt...i only chose the Valencia one because it was close to my reception, big mistake and never would I want to go stay there again, why so I could view the scenic mall?) he finally agreed to send a voucher good anywhere. Three weeks later it hadn't arrived. I called and he said that it must have been lost in the mail. Weeks later it hadn't came so I called again, this time it had been returned to them because my address (of 25 years!) was incorrect! Had they called to say it had been returned? No, because something can't be returned that was never sent. Finally a week after that it was sent! One basic standard room good in any Hyatt, no honeymoon package, blackout dates apply, no taxes or parking covered.
Maybe I would have been willing to see it as a mistake they tried to fix if the management seemed a little apologetic and sincere instead of like I was bothering them. Or maybe if they had made up for the mistake on their own, not me having to call and remind them.
The saddest part is while I was in the lobby on my wedding night crying, the receptionist said "unfortunately this happens alot here". Don't make the same mistake I did and trust a special night to them!

My friend got married in the courtyard. I lived in Santa Clarita for 4 years and the Hyatt always seemed like such a nice place. The lobby was spacious, specifically designed to carry your voice and give that never-ending exploration themed feel. If you hook right, you'll line glass panels on the left which shows a nice pool. Strait ahead are double doors which lead into the courtyard, before the doors and going right lead to a big empty room. I'm not sure what that was for.
If you head back to the lobby, and instead of going right, go strait, there is a dining area, but only have you pass the huge bar. Yes, the bar comes first, instead of being in the back. Purposely designed to sink into your wallet? I think so. I had no complaints- quickly skimming the selection, I deemed it worthy.
The hallways are nice and spacious, with a bench every now and then for the occasional person who should get left behind in a drunken group, but for some odd reason, never gets abandoned. The wall lamps are sheathed with a off-white cone so they never come off too strong. Again, just outer appearances.
The rooms, not so nice. The beds are stiff, the T.V. is junky, the shower head isn't that great, there is no mini fridge (seriously), and they actually leave you a bucket full of huge Aquafina's for the reasonable price of.. $4.50? How tacky for such a high status hotel- don't try to sell me stuff.
While in the rest-room, I noticed a little note essentially saying "the sheets, while made to look presentable after you've slept and mangled them, are NOT changed routinely, but instead, are done so only by request." WHAT IS THAT??
The honey-moon sweet wasn't all that much better. It had a flat screen T.V. with poor resolution and basic cable, a random center table to seat about 10, two bathrooms, and a couch with a tiny glass table in front of it. In complete contrast to the grooms men room. Wow.

"Meh. I've experienced better" pretty much sums up my whole impression of this hotel. Let me start by saying that we had gotten this hotel because we bid $75 on Priceline. Had I paid the full price, I would have been PISSED.
First impressions: parking is fine, lobby is beautiful, hotel service was fantastic... all good things, obviously. And what I expected from a Hyatt! Upon entering the room I had no real complaints... the place was clean, spacious enough, and I always appreciate a mini fridge. I also noticed they had a blowdryer? I bet a lot of girls could appreciate that. Honestly, this room was mostly fine it seemed.
We only noticed the negatives after we started to get settled... like, how we could fully hear the (not loud) conversation from our nextdoor neighbors. And how when I opened the door connecting our rooms, I'm PRETTY sure there was no dividing door. So... I could potentially just walk into their room without problems. Also, the light from their TV would enter our room from the crack underneath this magical door. That was weird. Then, we noticed that they charge $10 for internet... how is it that the cheap motels can afford free wireless, and the Hyatt can't? I just think that for how much the room costs these are things you should expect to get without being charged extra.
We only spent one night in the room so we didn't do much hotel exploration... perhaps there are other things that make this place more worth it. The only thing that I did really like (that I believe only our room had) was this great outdoor patio. There's a big Hyatt sign in front of the building facing the road, and the patio was built on top of the sign. It was the only reason we invited a few friends over to hang out at the room. There's also a pretty cool bar/restaurant in the lobby, that I'm sure is probably overpriced. But it did look cool.
Honestly, this hotel meets the basic requirements and seems okay on the surface. I can't complain about any of the basics - service, amenities, etc. I'm just saying, for how much they apparently charge for a room per night... I would expect more, and therefore suggest staying somewhere else.

Not bad compared to other Hyatt's I've been to. The lobby and rooms were clean. Location is great, near lots of shopping and restaurants. Service was ok. Their breakfast at Vines was surprisingly good. Would recommend for business travel.
