I wish I had read these reviews before staying here last weekend. However, I booked through price-line bidding ,and they don't allow you to pick your place. Again, you get what you pay for. I think my bid was $85 plus tax per night Friday - Sunday nights. Also, I spend a good $200 in extra charges (like $12 parking per car per day, and drinks -not strong enough for their $10 price tag - but tasty, and one poolside meal).

Unfortunately, some tiny tot cheer team was in town, so I was invaded by tiny cheerleaders and their families in the pool on Saturday. They did provide for great entertainment... or rather... their moms who would fake as if they were going to come over to the pool and make them come out even though they only stood up from their chairs and yelled about 100 feet away from the pool.

This place was probably fabulous in the late 70s or 80s. But the "off-white" marble was so full of chocolate veins that the flooring and bathrooms looks a bit animal print - WILD, man, WILD! Not to mention, the lighting in the bathroom added to my sunburn.

Lastly, the beds were HARD!!!! Not firm... HARD!

Now, the stars? Sunday and Monday I was able to lay poolside in relative peace. You should see how ha-wt my tan is. :) NICE! I wish they have separate pools for families and adults, but it was still nice. - One star for this.

2nd star - location! I did not have to get in my car for 3 days. It was conveniently located on the down town strip. Very easy to access local restaurants and bars without drinking and driving.

3rd star - the balcony and fridge and maid service. I was able to order extra cups, brought in my own bar supplies, mixed my own drinks, keep things int he fridge, and hang out on the balcony that overlooked the strip.

If I wanted to save money and new what I was getting into, I'd go her again. However, I would not pay in the $100s for what the rooms normally cost.

I stayed here as the wedding I was going to was having the reception there.  The father of the bride was picking up the cost of my room - he was with me at the check-in counter (he was with me as when I tried to check-in the 1st time there was no reservations under my name - it was finally found under some obscure spelling, like whomever was taking the reservations for the names in the wedding group really didn't care).  Desk needed my credit card in case of any additional charges by me (food, drink, etc).  Though going through all this at the desk, I was still charged for the room on my card.  E-mailing back and forth finally had the charges off my card to his.

Room was VERY TIRED.  Water spot on the ceiling above the bed from some flood above prior.  Felt the room smelled VERY "musky" - I wonder now if the mattress had been changed out after the flood (and was it the bathtub above or the TOILET???).

In a deep sleep was woken by fire alarm and recorded message over the speakers to leave the building - this like 2:30am.  The power was turned off  - I could not locate my glasses (keep them at the same place at home, but was in a hotel room. Have since traveled with a flashlight).  All the guests out front of the hotel.  Took forever for the fire department to come - I believe no hotel personnel had called it in, as when leaving PS I noticed the fire department was just a few blocks away.  Was wiring that had shorted out in one the elavators.

When checking out the other wedding party guests HAD TO ASK to be discounted for the room with the fire evaculation.  With the arrangements made at check-in, no clue I was going to be charged.

I did drop an e-mail to the hotel manager with a lot of what I said in this review.  She seemed to think everything was handled properly (was she there and didn't know the fire department didn't show up for 25-35 minutes with the station just 3 minutes away? Though I told her such).

DON'T  WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE (my 2 nights picked up by the bride's father - I would only stay here again if free).  I had asked for a future night comp due to the credit card hassle & the fire evaculation details - my request was not honored by the hotel manager.

Since 80's retro is back in style, I have to give it 1 star.
Since I happened to be wearing the same shade of green as the doorman, I have to give it another star.
Since I HAVE A MIRROR AS A HEADBOARD, I have to give it one more star.

Since I have to imagine that maybe a hairy Magnum PI looking dude in tight baby blue running shorts had sexual relations with a geriatric in white tights and Tammy Faye-esque makeup, I have to subtract one star.

Man...this place is RETRO.  Mirrors, big CRT television sets, doo doo brown couches.  I do like the fact that the room is huge, and I could easily invite 10 of my closest friends to snort white horse around the mirrored bar.  The ceilings are low enough for me to easily hang a disco ball, but I don't want to risk disturbing the popcorn ceiling in case I inhale some asbestos.

Wish I could have been the first to review this place. Louis G. seems to have captured the essence pretty damn well though.

The single defining moment of my experience at this hotel was walking by the bright white, early 90's Corvette parked right out front. Anyone familiar with the film Scar Face or the time piece videogame Grand Theft Auto: Vice City would feel right at home at this dated, poorly maintained, worst Hyatt I've ever stayed at.

After checking-in and cruising the lobby, we were really looking forward to checking out the pool... hoping it would win back a single star for this Yelp. To our disappointment, the hot tub was half full and the pool was occupied by muscle beach, 50+, gold-chain wearin, fake baked, mullet rockin bad asses.

Good thing Yelp is getting more popular, we need to get the word out about this place.

I think some of the reviewers were being pretty harsh. I just stayed there a few weeks ago and we had a nice time. Yea it's outdated but the rooms are large and it's still clean and fairly neat. The view of the street is fun because you can peek out at what is going on in town. It's a great location --right in the middle of the action! And their fridge isn't full of things, so we were able to store our food and drinks in there without charge.

My wife and I stayed here recently on a trip to relax and meet up with family over Thanksgiving.

This was probably a really nice hotel in 1985 or so when the adjoining mall was open and the area was booming.  20 years later, it's actually kind of a dump with a premium name and price tag.  I almost wanted to contact Hyatt about their property but instead I'll complain on http://yelp.com

The room was old, furnishings were cheap and old, the decor in the hotel was old, the parking garage under the hotel is a dump, the elevator from the parking garage has grandma's wall paper in it and much of it looks like it's in a time warp from the late 70s to early 80s.  All this and they charge $380/night for it?  We had just come from the Wynn in Las Vegas where we had a pimp palace for $500/night.  Hyatt Regency is severely hurting their reputation with this dump.

Just down the street my parents stayed at the Wyndham Suites which we passed up because "...it's not a Hyatt Regency".  Boy we made the wrong decision.  Don't let the pictures on http://expedia.com fool you, the outside of the building is caked with dirt.

I really don't even want to give one star. This was terrible. I wish I would have check the reviews before booking. The reservations made the wrong reservation, the front desk blamed the mistake on the reservations being in Omaha (like I care where they are, if you don't know the hotel don't work at the reservation station). They over charged us and charged us for things we never received or requested. Others around the pool told us they had bugs in their room. And upon check out a lady run over to my car to tell me there was dog poop in her room.
Terrible!

As stated by other reviewers this place appears to have been stuck in the 80s.  While the people behind the counter were more helpful then the last time we stayed here (lowest price we could get for our second stay in the area), the other employees seem to be lacking.  Our room had food crumbs on the couch and the floor felt dirty to the feet.  They also like to nickel and dime you here: they advertise internet access but don't expect to use it for free it is just a T-mobile hotspot. In the end we went back to our go to place: Quality Inn & Suites in Rancho Mirage.

I got to second Louis' review, but give 2 stars because the people working there are nice in a "struggling for air and gotta survive" kinda way. Great location if you want to walk everywhere, but not a relaxing hotel in palm springs. Especially for the price. A bit old fashioned. Rooms felt like they were designed for coke heads in the 80s: furniture was shiny black and lots of mirrors.
