Outside my SPG group of hotels I like this one in particular. Attended a holiday party here with some friends and family.

Started at the bar in the lobby. Impressed with the professional but warm bartenders. Not to mention they take good pictures too.

I love their lobby. I am a great admirer of hotel lobbies mostly either for their ability to pack in a good amount of comfortable chairs all around or just a few good looking comfortable ones.

This hotel reserved their main space for their giant christmas tree. It's awesome. It's the first thing that you will see pass their front double doors.

The front desk staff was very polite and accommodating. Got a suite the same night when the idea of driving home wasn't a safe idea after a night of drinking and debauchery.

Their beds are not bad. the view from the suite at 3 am was outstanding. It was a combination of fog and really light shower that made it magical almost. Came back to sense when I looked down and it was the view of the parking lot. I could've fixed my stare up and straight ahead. LOL

I'm quite impressed.

We got a double bed room and at first I wasn't expecting much, but upon entrance I was pretty blown away. The bedroom was really clean.. the colors were inviting. It had a big flat screen lg tv, some cute modern chairs, and a radio that has an ipod dock. Definitely a great place to stay, you get your dollars worth.

The only thing that I thought was a bit bothersome was the fact that the bathroom doors didn't close all the way and there wasn't a lock.

Other than that, I'd definitely recommend this hotel to others..

Santa Clara Regency might now look like a place to have a wedding but do not be deceived by their looks!  Their customer service was great and the food was excellent!  I had my wedding here on Dec. 6th and everything went according to plan.  Melissa Woodley had the best customer service ever!!!!!  If I were to get married again I would go back to Melissa and her team!  Also you have to book the executive suite!  Huge and you just feel at home.

Thank you Melissa to you and your team for my making my wedding day a day to remember!

Great hotel, the best place to stay in Santa Clara, especially if you are attending an event at the Santa Clara Convention Center.  Staff is great and very helpful, the hotel is clean and first class.

2 things that need addressed: 1) the air conditioning in the rooms seems underpowered and takes way too long to cool the room down. 2) charging for wifi, c'mon!  I can go right next door and get complimentary free lighting fast wifi from the Best Western.  This really needs to be addressed to get to the 5 star rating.

Still a great place to stay.

3.75+ Enjoyed staying at the hotel here. I think they need to update some of their furniture but all in all, the staff was nice and easy access to the conference center. Also, I wish they had free wi-fi or added the wi-fi feature to the hotel and an indoor pool. It was cold so I didn't get to swim at all. The restaurant, lobby bar and pool area were a treat with great staff with great personalities. We enjoyed dinner, lunch and breakfast there.

Great menus items:
Bisque Mushroom soup, Seared Tuna with Wakame, Snapper with Soba noodles, Lump crab cakes with mango chutney, Cesar Salad with Chicken, Omelettes and fruit made ready by the breakfast staff, tasty coffee, tasty martinis, nice bottles of cabernet you can take up to your hotel room.

I recently planned a two-day corporate meeting at this location and I can't even tell you how wonderful their sales team was to work with.  Patrick, Ryan, Emily and Joanne all ROCKED.  Seriously.

From staying late with me the night before to help add some personal touches to the meeting room to being present at the crack (and I mean crack) of dawn on Day #1  (while also handing me a piping hot latte within minutes of walking in the door), it seemed this team went above and beyond to ensure that my event was a success.

As with most events, there are always last minute requests and little fires to put out and without Patrick and Ryan (along with their A/V and IT teams), I don't know if things would have gone as seamlessly as they did.

The meeting room was nicely appointed, the food (we did breakfast and lunch on both days) was totally delicious and the lobby bar makes a mean latte.  The sleeping rooms are also nice (and clean!) and the beds are super comfy.  Oh, and I love the Portico brand toiletries they use - the white ginger smells so good!

Will I plan future events here?  You betcha.  And you should, too.  You won't be disappointed.

The good:

Super friendly desk reception and price was right
Complimentary Aquafresh travel toothpaste in bathroom
Comfortable bed and linens
Huge desk area with easy access to power strip
Cooled towels in the gym and all machines fully functional
Tresca's buffet-style "Express" breakfast for $18 offered fresh strawberries, blueberries and blackberries and plenty of other healthy options

The bad:

Empty water cooler in gym
Maids randomly knocking on my door at 8:15am.... WTH?
Fridge in room is decorative only
Lighting a bit dim, especially on the magnified make up mirror
Basin sink is only an inch deep = water splashes everywhere AND it was installed sideways which was super awkward for washing my face

This hotel is fantastic!  The hotel lobby areas are all very nice and the shared spaces are all great.  A weird plastic was covering the floor in the hallways of the guest rooms, but I guess that was to be expected.

My gripe with the hotel is that everything on the guest floors seemed to be really narrow.  The bright blue of the hallways seemed to heighten the sense of claustrophobia that I usually don't normally feel.  The rooms themselves seemed a bit smaller compared to other nice hotels I've been in.

Even with those setbacks, I definitely enjoyed the hotel.  Plus, who can say no to free parking?

i tried the "tresca" restaurant and it's nice.
i did the frittata for breakfast and the spicy

This last BayCon I stayed at the hotel again and it wasn't as good as the previous year, though the convention was even more of a blast.

The big problem was that the staff seemed especially unclued in and seemed to be swimming upstream the entire time. I had trouble getting simple things like a replacement room key (they gave me one for the wrong room) and I had to call three times to get a couple of extra pillows. Also, I had a much smaller room this time, one of the rooms set-aside for parties, and it really felt cramped. The bathrooms especially. I still hate those weird sliding wood doors.

The bar is still very pricey, but the BBQ they set up outside was incredibly cheap as we had 12 people eating on less than 100 bucks and we all left full. The restaurant's food is pretty good and the buffet they set up for us wasstill tasty and pretty cheap.

The weirdest choice the hotel made? After last year, when the carpets on the party floor were seriously trashed, they ended up placeing plastic over the entire floor. Much of Friday and Saturday was like walking on bubblewrap.

That said,

I stayed at the Hyatt in Santa Clara for a convention. The rooms were recently renovated and sported a clean look. Flat panel TV in the room. Internet is not free but if you are subscribed to Tmobile's internet plan.. their hotspot is available here.

The only thing I found weird were the bathroom doors. They look like japanese wooden doors and don't close all the way. I could hear my co-worker drop a deuce! That bothered me a lot!

Overall I had a great time there.

This is a 3 to 3.5 star hotel.  It's a little shabby.  There is a nice workout room, and the service is very good.  The door lock on my room was broken, but the hotel was generally quiet.  The biggest downside of this hotel is that it is in Santa Clara.  Hotwire considers this to be a 4-star hotel, but the people at Hotwire are douches.

Sometimes you just need to stay in a hotel...even if it's in the city next to your own.  Nothing says luxury like a $90 hotel room on Priceline next to Great America.

Seriously though, any hotel that caters to the business traveler is probably going to be good in my book.  Crystal at the front desk was very professional and friendly.  I loved our room. I especially liked the wooden sliding doors to the bathroom that were part industrial, part Japanese bathroom or something. LOVED the big square raised sink.  The rooms are sleek and modern.  We mentioned it was my bf's birthday and they upgraded our already super discounted room to a deluxe king.  Not half bad.

Way comfy bed I should mention, it was a lovely place to have brunch...oh room service.  Have I mentioned that I love room service?  The Hyatt had a lovely room service menu and my eggs Benedict was actually really yummy.

So if you ever want to stay in a hotel 15 minutes from home (it's like a little slice of vacation on a Monday night!), I give my stamp of approval to the Hyatt.

I got the amazing deal on price....dot com and stayed here during the holidays.  Although I have also stayed across the street at the Hilton too,  I think I prefer the Hyatt by TWO full stars more.
I would like to have had the hotel a little more 'lively'.  Nonetheless, very nice place to stay at!

This review is for their banquet / event facilities.

I just sent a very long thank you letter to the Hyatt's General Manager, their Director of Catering, and their F&B Director.  I'm not going to bore you with the letter, but I just can't say enough great things about this place.

I recently hosted a 4 day event for about 1,500 people here and their staff made everything so easy for me. I swear...I was spoiled. I had the pleasure of working with Nicole & Ryan during my event. These two were extremely professional, fun to work with, and quick to respond. (Remember how I mentioned that I was spoiled? I walked into the show one day and Ryan had my favorite Starbucks drink ready for me as I walked in).

BTW- I don't know if the Hyatt recruits models...but these two are such cuties. Let's just say they were very easy on the eyes. Every time Ryan came to ask me how I was doing my knees got a bit wobbly. *blush*

Anyways- everything gets 5 stars....service, food, cleanliness of the facility, parking...

I've already booked my event for next year. I'm relieved and excited that I get to work with the same staff again. :)

Excellent place to stay.  I work during the week in Santa Clara and stay here almost all the time.  They are very accommodating and friendly.  The only complaint I have is that on occasion, I have found things in the room that were in disrepair.....nothing major....desk chair that was rattling, bulbs burned out, toilet that kept running.  But, they are usually very quick to repair once they are notified.  The facility is modern and updated. The rooms are very spacious and it has a pretty large fitness room compared to most hotels in it's price-class.  I would and do stay here any time.

I stayed here on business recently and was quite impressed.  I was welcomed in my hotel room by a plate of two delicious, sweet nectarines and a card from the manager.  The room itself was pleasantly decorated and well prepared for the business traveler, with a large desk/office area.  The shower was great -- I was able to get the water to the perfect temperature and pressure in no time at all.  As someone who typically has a hard time sleeping in hotel beds, I was extremely impressed by the fact that I slept like the dead and didn't even want to get up in the morning.  The fitness room is stocked with plenty of fresh, soft towels, as well as a water cooler, which I used to fill up the water bottle that I had to buy when I was at the airport (boo!).  Each treadmill and elliptical has its own built-in touch screen tv, which was super cool.

The staff is thoughtful and friendly; when I dropped by the front desk to ask about running trails in the area, they gave me a wallet-sized map of a nearby trail that runs along San Tomas Aquino Creek.  The parking is free (there's a free lot in the front and a free covered garage in the back), but internet is not.  Also, while the rooms themselves were nice, the hallways and corridors could definitely use a renovation.  And I'm getting nitpicky here, but it was a little annoying that the elevators don't ding upon arrival in the lobby.  I took the elevator several times during my stay, and I had to glance around obsessively at all four elevators to make sure I didn't completely miss it when it opened.

Pesky elevators and outdated powder blue hallway schemes aside, I very much enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back whenever I visit clients in the south bay.

I was impressed at the caliber of this hotel, complete with a shady valet guy who accepts $20's when the parking lot is "full."

I came for a company sponsored event, and the food was mediocre at best. You know how boxed mashed potatoes has a weird plasticy consistency? Well imagine that you left boxed mashed potatoes out for about an hour or two, top it with Lean Cuisine salmon, and subtract salt. Yum...

They had Chopin Vodka at the bar, and at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how good the food is then, does it? 3 stars for overall ambiance, affordable rates, and for serving Chopin.

I've stayed here in the past. This is a great place to stay during the 4th of July weekend and watch fireworks. The rooms are comfy and spacious. The pool area is great place to relax while the kids play in the water.

But this time, I didn't stay in the hotel. I was attending the Body Mind Spirit Conference that has been held every year held at the Santa Clara Convention Center which is attached to the Hyatt Regency.

I took a couple of workshops that were held in the hotel's conference rooms. The room environment was very comfortable and drinking water was readily available. The hotel staff was very friendly and available to answer questions when asked.

I wouldn't  have any hesitation staying here again.

Our room was nice, good size, very well set up for a business traveller. Comfortable bed. Someone else noted the sideways sink...stylish, but not practical.  Good water pressure in the shower. Quiet, even though we had neighbors on either side of us.

Bar is just okay, very friendly, but inattentive and non-committal service. Ordered a whisky and water and the drink looked like water with a hint of whisky. Solved this issue with drink #2 by simply ordering whisky neat and a glass of water, but good god, for $8, you'd think they could get that right.

My bf and I stayed here for 2 nights.  He wanted to surprise me with a hotel that would face Great America for NYE fireworks.  The room we got was upgraded to a room with a balcony.  It was beautiful.  The room was spacious and had its own private balcony over looking the swimming pool and facing Great America.  The hotel was clean and had friendly staff.  Although there was no fireworks to see, there was a great argument down stairs we listened to.....Overall a very classy and nice hotel for the price.

Is this a 4 star hotel at $220 per night rate?
1. It's hard to find a parking and each parking spot is very tight.
2. Who is their interior designer? After get off the elevator, the hallway looks like a cheap European motel. The light blue reminds of me IKEA.
3. The bathroom is very small. The only interesting part is their sink which is flat. Have you even seen a flat sink? I guess if you dropped your jewel accidentally, you still have chance to save it from sink because it's flat.
4. I was spoiled by Embassy Suite last week. I had a suite in Embassy. Suddenly moved to a regular hotel room. I felt being downgraded.
5. No microwave in the room.
6. Coffee machine and cups are in bathroom. It's very weird.
7. There is no any plug near desk lamp. Where can I hook up my laptop?
8. No free breakfast.
9. Furniture is cheap IKEA style.
10. Room service is very pricey.

Can't wait moving back to 3 stars Embassy.

my girls & i received an offer with Hyatt Regency to perform at their Employee Banquet a couple of weeks ago. With the agreement of getting paid & 4 tickets to the Great America Theme Park was already worth it. For our gigs especially at Hotel Banquets, we love to raid the rooms & service of getting treated royalty. Mosses Garcia & Randi who are in the HR department led us to a smooth mini vacation with their hotel. Treated like queens, we had two queen beds in the lovely room. Surprisingly, while we were getting ready to hit the stage, Victor the room service attendant knocked on our door with 3 yummy parfaits, salted peanuts, fresh fruits, &3 bottled Voss water!! how awesome is that?!

The staff itself was very helpful & awfully nice!! & when they're goal is to treat their guests like family.. they really do.

Attended a http://Salesforce.com conference here.  Way far from where I live, but very pleasant lobby area, plenty of casual seating indoors and outdoors, and nice conference facilities.  A little cold b/c of the AC, but the ready availability of discard tables, refreshments, cushy chairs, and clean restrooms was a big plus.  Even free parking in a covered, multi-storied lot.

Must have cost major bucks to put on a conference there, but very nice.  One bad was the lack of free wireless in the public areas... but thankfully Salesforce put up a wireless for attendees.

The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly.  The resturant is tasty, but a bit overpriced.  The one exception to that is the breakfast buffet, nice little spread, and quite reasonable.

The incredible service almost makes up for the absolute hideousness of the decor on the room floors.  The hallways are powder blue and brown-sugar merangue stripes. The rooms themselves look like the end result of an unholy union between the seventies (cocain is a helluvua drug) and an Ikea catalog.  The bathroom setup is completely horrid.  Trying to get the sliding (!) doors to close properly was very awkward.  Not so great if you're sharing the room with someone you don't really want to hear on the toity.

Though, the beds were reasonably comfy, and I suppose you don't actually have to look at anything when you're using your room for it's intended purpose.

I always love our rooms when we stay here
and the staff is always thoughtful and willing to make each of our stays special.

The restaurant downstairs is just okay-- it feels like a hotel restaurant.
It would be great if they would add some vegetarian options to their menu but I must say they have been nice about accomodating us.

My biggest and probably only gripe about the actual hotel is that WIFI isn't free. It's supposed to cater to businesspeople and be a four star hotel, so shouldn't they offer free WIFI??

Easy access to the freeway  - check
Close to the airport - check
In Silicon Valley and thus near all main high tech companies - check

The Hyatt Regency Santa Clara (formerly Westin) is a great place to do business events. It's even adjacent to the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Sufficient and fairly modern meeting space, you can't go wrong in booking your events here.

Sleeping rooms are big compared to big cities hotels which is always nice. And there is enough parking to go around (and it's free!)

I wouldn't exactly stay here for a holiday but its' good as a business hotel.

points taken off for business center not being manned by actual person (it's all automated with credit card -- but it is 24hours)

points taken off for room rate (incl tax) at NYC prices (over $300) for a night! Possible reason could be sold out situation but still...

I'd agree with all of the below - A great business hotel (in that it's a bit pricey and not really a nice vacation spot)... This place is definitely in the middle of nowhere in terms of 'life,' although within easy distance of most silicon valley campuses.

...super convenient to Great America theme park (actually walking distance from the hotel), as well as literally adjoining the Santa Clara Convention Center...

This place has just been completely remodeled - everything feels fresh, smells clean and new, and looks quite nice. I'm not sure how it will all age (lots of khakis and browns in the bathroom that look nice when they're brand new, but in another year may start to feel quite grungy).

Make sure to ask for a room away from the ice machine - that's standard fare at most hotels, but in my trip by it to and from my room,  I have to say it may be the loudest I've ever been near.

The pool is very large and great for lap swimming if that floats your boat - there's also a nice hot tub out there... The views are nothing to write home about, but that's to be expected at a hotel surrounded by office parks.

I'd definitely recommend this place for a business trip (especially considering some of the heinous options neaby), but if you're looking for a nice vacation spot, search elsewhere.

The room was so nice, the bed was amazing. The decor was beautiful. The customer service was excellent. The entire hotel is so beautful. FREE PARKING and its walking distance from great america.

There is a pool- we didnt go b/c there was some sport thing going on and there were too many highschool kids... so we stayed in- and had a lot of fun. I would def. go back... infact, i cant wait too!

Kind of a funny place, obviously caters directly to the nerdy business-traveler crowd, but misses a couple details. The service was excellent overall, except for very slow service during one dinner at the restaurant. The exercise room is very nice, though the sauna/hot tub/pool layout was awkward. The room cleaning was adequate.

They've gone to great lengths to create a modern design for the rooms, which is well-done overall but again, details are missed. The lighting in the bathroom is stylish, but too dim to apply makeup. The windows allowed in more noise than they should, and the bedding was too short. The ipod clock radio is a nice touch, also the nice interactive TV system, but the iron and board were old and cheap. The workspace was great, and had wired and wireless access, but you pay for them separately.

Overall I'd say they get things right enough that I'd come back. The beds are comfortable and the location is great but if I didn't have business in the area I wouldn't bother.

hotel was semi full on the saturday that I stayed. 08/16. I checked in and went to my room. We saw a wedding going on and it was busy enough. Room was great, except the bed. The hyatt beds I find just too firm. ( I really like the Larkspur properties because of their beds. I should have stuck to them.) Didn't try the pool or the food, but we where placed right around the bridal party which I think that they could have done a better job at not putting us near them. Oh and since the beds were firm I did call to the front desk to cancel the second night and even though it was a non-cxl res with full prepayment they did refund the second night. That made up for it in my book. Oh and I only paid 96.75 for the room.

Stayed a dew nights here for baycon.  The rooms are very modern, I hated the picture on the wall in our room, it kind of creeped me out so i covered it with a sarong.  The bed was comfy, but I didn't like the sheets, I sleep on 1000 threadcount at home, the sheets here were probably not even half that.  The pool and lounge area was nice.  The hotel bar, while expensive, made a good vodka sour.

My cousin had his wedding reception here and I had so much fun! Got way too wasted off of champagne and knocked the f*ck out in one of the suites! Anyway, the suites are large and accommodating to a large party of groomsmen and bridesmaids. A lot of stuff had gone wrong and good came out of it towards the end. I don't remember much of the hotel itself but I'll provide a short story version of my stay at the Hyatt.

Crazy drama that happened the day before the wedding. Two of the groomsmen came over to chill but it was a night that none of us could forget. The two guys came by our room drunk and wanted to drink with us. Little did they know that we had our own night of drinking already. (We wanted to sleep for a few hours before waking up at 6am to get ready before the hair and make-up artist came).
**Side note: my sister and I went to our cousin's graduation party at a club in downtown SJ before we came back to the hotel (1:30am).

Anyway, the guys were happy to see that we haven't finished the alcohol so they drank along with us. We were all watching tv and sitting around just talking. Topic of conversation was marriage and weddings. One of the guys says something to get the bride upset and she walks off to have herself a breathe of fresh air with my sister. The rest of the girls stayed in the room to clean up the mess before we decided to go to bed. Nope! The guys were being guys and acting belligerent. Next thing we know, there's a fight between them two. They started to yell like crazy and throwing stuff around. We yell at them to stop before someone calls management, but they didn't listen. One of the girls says to hide the keys before they leave the hotel to go anywhere and do anything stupid. One of the guys asks, "where's my keys, I want to go home." All of us in the room were silent and he got so angry yelling at the top of his lungs and sees the bride's dress grabbing it off the rack, opening the door and running with it outside of the hotel. When this happened, everybody was trying to chase after him. (Our rooms were on the 11th floor. We made A LOT OF NOISE. Nobody bothered to call security or management about this whole stint.) Everyone except myself and one other girl stayed behind in case the bride and my sister came back. After 3 hours of drama, we came back to the hotel resolving all the mess with very little sleep and a cup of venti coffee from starbucks.

We were all surprised that none of us got ratted out for all the drama that happened. We wondered if they even cared? AND the guests that stayed in the hotel? Because we could've thrown down one sick a** party without being thrown out of the hotel. Thank you Hyatt!

This used to be a Westin so the Hyatt people would have had to work extra hard to screw it up. The interior has been completely redone in   muted (kind of boring) colors, and with all the modern top-of-the-line IKEA furnishings and flat screen TVs, the rooms now are not only comfortable but really cool. I was down here to take a test so I needed the room more for studying than sleep, but that was no problem. I never heard a peep from anyone the entire time, and when I finally did crash the bed was ultra comfy. I appreciated the bathrobe, which used to be something you only got in a suite. If you can get a forty or fifty dollar rate through Priceline don't think twice, go for it. But even at full price this is a great place to stay.

Nice hotel -- get a balcony suite if you can. The rooms are clean and modern but a little too modern in a couple of the design elements. The bathroom sinks are sideways (faucet on the left or right) which is just weird and inconvenient. The closet has no door, which bugged me more than you think it would. The hotel bar is pretty good -- has a nice patio area and makes an excellent margarita.

A really nice hotel in a prime location. I stayed here last year during the heat wave to avoid the heat! Yes I stayed at a hotel because it had air condition and my house didn't, and it was worth it. I went online, got a killer deal and stayed for 3 days and was very happy the entire stay. The bar is nice and the customer service was great. Also relaxing in the pool was good fun too. There are restaurants around just not near the premises of the hotel. Grade A!

Friend got it for 70 on priceline, I think he could have gone lower  for a Friday night but the hotel is nice, the bed and linens are nice.
Had a wide screen flat screen TV, IPOD clock radio, bathrobe and free wifi.
The front desk person was friendly and informative and treated you well even though you got their room through a discount company.
The hotel is clean with dark colors, the rooms are clean and feel new.

Downer was the parking, the front parking lot is for valet, so you have to park at the parking structure behind the hotel that is attached to the Santa Clara convention center.  http://www.yelp.com/bi... There is no cut through to the Hyatt, you have to walk on the outside of the hotel, it is covered but the winter time, it is windy and cold.
The water pressure was weak in the shower and bath.
Room was at the end of the hall, I think priceline rooms are usually the oldest and/or furthest rooms in the hotel.
Can hear the conversations in the hall and next door.
The bathroom is small, doors are two sliding frosted glass doors, to not take up space to open and close a regular door.

I stayed a couple of times here on different occasions for the past several years while my kids were attending Monsters of Hip Hop dance conventions at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. My daughter just recently last week competed in the upstairs theater (yes, there is an upstairs theater there) for Odyssey Dance Competition. The theater was a bit cold. Upon my stay, I was satisfied with the rooms for the price of about $89.00 on http://hotwire.com. I wasn't too thrilled with the ginger-smelling complimentary lotion. But the "Asian themed" room was sufficient , especially for the price. Very convenient between dance workshops. The kids can take an elevator to the room to rest, then go back down for the next class. The grilled chicken sandwich down at the bar wasn't worth the $18.00 ($14.20 plus the $3.80 tip). If I wasn't lazy, I would have walked across the street to Togo's. But the kids were hungry and I had to feed them fast between dance breaks. ). On a positive note, the coke machine upstairs took my $3 bucks and with a thirsty kid in tow, I told guest services who sent someone to replace my money fast (he also gave me a free coke just for my trouble). I started my rating with 5 stars but deducted 1 star for the too expensive food and another 1 star deduction for that STUPID, USELESS virtual concierge service= totaling my rating of 3 stars. Just to let the Yelp community know: this is my 3rd post on this review. Yelp "removed" my earlier postings twice citing "conflict of interest"---as I stated I  wasn't particularly happy with one of Hyatt Regency's "services". I've never worked at the Hyatt in my life, so I am confused at their removal. Curious to see if this post will be removed again.....
