20 reviews for Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing
My husband and I decided to run away to Philly one weekend - he had the whole weekend off which was RARE!
We got lucky on priceline and got the room for $70+tax, not a bad deal for a long weekend. Loved the room, we got a corner view of the river, bridge and city. Service was great, parking is expensive. Great location too.
"We have a parlor room available - it's about twice the size of an average guestroom but it does not have a bed. I'd be happy to send a roll away for you," said the hotel staff member checking me in at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing. I furrowed my brow and then he offered me his other tantalizing option: a smoking room (WITH a bed.)
I was understandably displeased with both options and let him know. In a lousy attempt to lessen the pain he offered me a voucher for a free breakfast.
I reluctantly took the smoking room and headed upstairs. Once off the elevator on the 7th floor, I was instantly hit with the stench of cigarette smoke. I wanted to gag. I didn't know hotels still had smoking rooms, let alone smoking floors!
As I climbed beneath the covers, the sheets felt like plastic. I wonder if this is a special perk available only to smoking room inhabitants?
I've stayed at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing on numerous occasions. However, on my last two visits the hotel's not been up to snuff: rooms not quite clean (crumbs near the desk), room service trays left outside the room I was checking into (I think that explained the source of the crumbs) and a general feeling that the hotel had let itself go.
And then came last night's two terrible choices: a room without a bed or a room on the smoker's floor; pretty much the last straw for me. One thing's a sure bet, I won't be coming back to the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing!

We only stayed at this hotel for one night and had we been staying longer I would have requested a different room and probably would have been more vocal about the "issues" we had with the room.
We were on the 7th floor and didn't have much of a view--which was disappointing because we booked through the Hyatt website. (Had I booked through something like Hotwire I would have expected a sub-par room). The room was small and we could hear a lot of street noise and the boat horns all day and night. The walls were also very thin and we could hear all kinds of noises from the hallway (people shouting and getting ready to go to a baseball game), the walls were so thin that we could even hear our neighbors opening/closing their curtains!
The room appeared to not have been stayed in in awhile as there was a thin layer of dust over many of the surfaces.
We also had only 3 bath towels in the bathroom...not a single hand towel or wash cloth! We ended up using one of the bath towels as our hand towel, which is just annoying (again, had we been staying here longer I would have complained but it was just a night).
The bathroom was not as nice as the bathrooms in other Hyatt's we have stayed in. It was quite plain and areas were dirty. There was also a decent sized "crack" in the bathroom door (as it was "French door" styled where two doors open out) since the two doors didn't touch. So, basically you could see out from the bathroom or into it.
On the plus side, the pool area was nice, despite the soapy-looking film on the water. There is also a lovely sundeck. Most of the staff we came in contact with was friendly. The location is also pretty great, though there are several hotels in the Penn's Landing area.

Pricelined this room, was weary at first, but ended up being pretty great. We got a corner room, so it was on the small side, but we had views of both the Ben Franklin and the city to the West from the 19th floor.
The headboard needed to be badly dusted and there was something weird on the wall the looked like a leak or something. All in all, not bad for half the price our neighbors were paying.
We actually enjoyed the pool as well. No hot tub, but the pool was a wonderful warm temp with a view of the river and skylight above for natural light. We enjoyed the terrace after for some sun bathing. Though loud from I-95 below, it was still relaxing.
Since it is a ways away from most other restaurants, we had breakfast in the hotel. It was expensive, as hotel breakfasts are, but don't settle for the lame brunch. They don't use the same ingredients in their buffet, so if you're into organic order from the menu; organic eggs and spectacular breakfast potatoes await.
This hotel is well situated if you have meetings throughout the Philadelphia area; it is centrally located with easy access to the freeways and New Jersey. I had a beautiful room with a view of the river and the bridge. I did not use any of the dining facilities. Be sure to check for specials before making a reservation.
We pricelined this hotel. And got a ridiculous rate last minute for 4 nights and 3 days...
We were blown away and loved every second of it. The staff is kind and attentive, the beds are fabulous... fluffy and cozy. They have flat screen tv's, incredible views, and a fridge!
Ohh... also the gym is pretty great, as well. Tons of equipment, free weights, ab balls, medicine balls... everything you need for a good workout.
We would definitely stay here again!!!
This place is fantastic! My husband and I came up from Washington, DC for the weekend. We were having a hockey weekend, first to see the Flyers on Saturday and then the Phantoms on Sunday. We received a really good rate through Travelocity, the thing was it was non-refundable.
We had a wonderful, big room with all of the amenities. The room had the bolsters on the bed, which I love. The bed was huge and extra-firm, but oh very comfy. The room came equipped with a flat-screen TV with a sharp picture. And captions with the sound (I'm Deaf, my husband is hearing--we didn't have to "mute" the TV so we both could watch). There was a big writing desk and a leather chair. We also had fun in the indoor pool. The workout room actually had modern machines and a view across the river. They also had a first class bar.
So if you can get a good rate, this is a wonderful place to stay for far less money than a lot of other hotels.

I stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. I actually loved the location--12 min from the airport, and a 10 min casual walk to the Olde City and South St. It's right on the river, Jersey in view. I was on the 18th floor with a fabulous corner view of the river and of downtown.
Room/amenities: the room was super comfy, bed was great, especially with the down pillows, comforter, and mattress top. Bathroom was newer, large. For the most part, the place was clean, but minus two stars for the stains on the coverlet, throw pillows, and smudges on the faucet and a not-to-be mentioned body hair on the tub wall. Gross. I even asked for the bathroom to be recleaned and it didn't look like they did. I am a neurotic freak about hotels--the average person wouldn't even notice, therefore, I should really just dock 1/2 star.
The staff are great. Restaurant/bar downstairs was fabulous. I had meetings in the hotel for two days, and it was comfy, and snacks were fabulous (fancy chocolates, popcorn, philly pretzels, fruit, yum coffee)
Pluses: comfy bed, flatscreen TV, comfy leather armchair, views, locations, "clean" smell.
Minuses: stained bedding, $8 for internet/day, super-fast elevator made me queasy, thin walls (room in front of walkway, so I could hear the elevators), "crunchy" towels.
I'd come back, regardless. Just wouldn't use the stained decor bedding!
I stayed in this hotel through a tour. My review is based on the room only, as we didn't eat here and didn't use any facilities, other than the swimming room.
Location is nice, you get a pretty view of the harbor. Seems to be a couple blocks away to some stores. It was a plus that the swimming pool hours are until midnight (we were with a tour and didn't check in until late). It would have been better if the pool was not so shallow (3-4 feet).
Our room was very clean. Like all the other Hyatts, comforters and pillows are down. Very comfortable. Only complaint is that I heard the neighbors' water running when they took a 20-min shower at 12:30am.
I can haz view? Apparently I can haz any view I want. When I checked in, I was given a bevy of options for what type of room and which way to face - this hotel right on the water has rooms facing in all four directions, so options are nearly endless!
The trainee, who was both my check-in and check-out agent, seemed pretty on top of things, from knowing where the rooms were to helping me with putting in my Hyatt rewards number upon check-out. Very professional and polite.
Rooms are well appointed, with flat panel TVs, work desks, and clean facilities. There's a 24 hour fitness facility that I didn't have an opportunity to check out this time, but is good to keep in mind for future trips up to Philly. What I don't understand, though, is why my bed had six giant stuffed pillows on it - who needs six pillows?!
Plus, for $99 a night, courtesy of Hotwire, this place was a complete steal. Well done, Hyatt.

This is one of the few hotels I'd come back to. Not only for its location (which is superb), but also for the quality of its staff and rooms. There was only 1 out of 20 staff members I've bumped into that I didn't like. Everyone else was sooooooooooooooo helpful and unpretentious! The gentlemen outside are very quick to hail a cab for you; usually there's a couple cabs waiting across the street.
A king bed is the same price as doubles, so I went for the king. OMG, it came with ~9 pillows. I didn't use anymore than one, but they're there if I need them! The colors in the room were quite classy, but not overly fancy. Nice headboard, bed linens, etc.
The TV is flat panel and pretty big. There's a small water heater if you want coffee/tea. There's a huge comfy chair in the room as well as a pretty big desk.
I have a very nice view of the cityscape from the 11th floor. There's a nice balcony/patio area on the 4th floor by the pool, also with a nice view. Upon exit of the hotel, there is an even more spectacular view. Follow the steps down, and there's a nice walkway along the water. Lots of trees, nice boats, etc. It's quite relaxing to walk/sit out there at the end of the day. On the opposite side of the hotel, you can follow Dock St. to reach 2nd St x Chestnut to find good food/bars.
-1 star (and I'm being a little picky here) for:
-The pool was a bit smelly (not the usual chlorine smell). It's so dark in the water that you can't tell if you're swimming straight.
-No robes provided.
-Room keys don't always work in the elevators (yes, they are required to get to some floors)
-Weird access to parking garage.
-Towels like to shed, so I'd keep getting cotton in my eyes.
-My water heater had weird residue coming out of it.
-Vending machine on my floor never had bottled water.

I think this is my first hotel review so I'm a little reluctant to give it 5 stars right off the bat because I'm not a seasoned world traveler. The hotel was great and in a great location, the service was always polite and helpful and the room was really comfortable.
I got the room for only $75 a night by means of Priceline. It was a steal because there were other people in our group who were charged $79 a night in Runnemede NJ, Holiday Inn. (exactly what the hell is Runnemede?)
The real beauty of this hotel was it's proximity to the Old(e) City neighborhood of Philadelphia. It was a very short walk across the street and a right turn and you have great bars, restaurants and just a great part of the city in general. I was very impressed.
The room I stayed in was an X18 room and I had no less than 4 huge windows including a big one in the loo. The pool and the exercise room were adequate and honestly I have no complaints.

Great view, clean rooms, friendly service. I didn't really spend much time in my room other than getting dressed and sleeping. The french bathroom doors are really really awesome and fun to play with! I would love to stay here again if I needed to stay over night in the city.
This hotel is very nice- its in a nice part of Phili- right on the water. I had a bit of a run in with the manager of the front desk when checking in because of a difference of opinion. I thought I should get the free breakfast with my AAA card- she did not. I had not used AAA to reserve the room, but in the end with much persistence, I won. I wouldn't have it any other way! The restaurant is good- but expensive, 16 for breakfast. The hotel bar is not too bad- 8 dollar gin and tonic (Tanqeray). The pool is nice and the gym is very nice. The room was spacious and always cleaned well. I would recommend them if you can afford it.

For the view alone I would give the Hyatt four stars, but included in my rating is the wonderful service and amazing breakfast in bed. I've been here twice. The first time with my family and the second with a friend on my birthday. For my first visit, I spent most of the time on Penn's Landing enviously watching the yachts across the way having parties. I didn't object, however, to going back to the comfy room. My second stay was relaxing and room service delivered breakfast right to my bed. It was certainly a meal/stay to remember.

We booked our room through Priceline too, and we got the same view overlooking the I-95. Not very pretty.
Perhaps better rooms are available when not booking through Priceline? But probably $234897 more expensive.
This hotel is all about location. With great views in every direction and a short walk to Old City, the hotel has the best location in Philly. The pool and fitness center are also very good, and the self-parking is convenient. The only downsides are the inconsistent hot water and the high additional charges for everything.

We stayed for 3 days staring on on July 3rd. If you stay on the city side, 18 floors or higher, you can see the fireworks that take place at the art museum. If you stay on the river side you can see fireworks that occur the weekend before or after the fourth.
Our room was beautiful. The bed was comfortable. The linens and towels soft. The room included a digital safe, an ipod docking radio (a plus for me), as well a great coffee.
The service was wonderful. The extra towels were delivered promptly as well as extra coffee for the little coffee maker they provide. I left a note asking for these items to be delivered each day and it actually happened!
The conceirge was well informed and helpful with suggestions, tips, and directions.
Parking is not included and they do have valet or self park. There is a pool and fitness room which we did not use but we say many families heading there.
All in all a great hotel and a wonderful stay!

Eh, it's an okay hotel but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here if the drug study I was working for hadn't put me up here. It's not close to anything and in winter it's sooooo fucking cold that you risk hypothermia by walking. The food is okay but nothing to rave about and the room service on my chicken caesar salad took a baffling 45 minutes and wasn't that good nor noteworthy. I'm sure there's better places closer to shopping and the sights. I will say that the staff was really nice though.

It's not horrendous or 'bad' per se but it's not nice at all!
I've been here one night and have two more to go, but I can't wait to get home!
So I'm here on business with my boyfriend (we work together) and we decided to priceline our hotel and ended up here. We are saving money on the hotel, but I'm sure we'll end up losing in the long run!
First of all, everyone is SUPER NICE...so let me get that out, but the rooms are nothing to write home about. For a three night stay between the two of us, we had 3 shirt and 3 pant hangers in the two wardrobes in our room. We had to call for more and they delivered them to our room, but it's still a hassle. We asked for a side view room but the one we got overlooks the city - you would think that's a good thing, except that we have Interstate 95 below our window and it's LOUD! I guess the windows aren't that sound proof cause we're on the 14th floor. I mean, it's not super loud but it's a constant noise of cars going by and it's simply annoying.
Next, the food services are crazy. We are isolated from all outside restaurants so they seem to have jacked up the prices. I wouldn't mind paying the extra bucks for the convenience but the food is awful. We got tea last night which was served in a little tea cup and cost $3 per cup! Then, at breakfast, I had a plate of what looked and tasted like Quaker Quick Oats (not even real rolled oats slow cooked on a stove) with a fistful of raisins and like a tablespoon of brown sugar on the side for $7...plus tax and tip of course! My boyfriend got their special french toast which is served in the shape of a round sticky bun. The presentation was horrible...the medium size piece was on the bottom with the smallest one on top and then the biggest one on top of that...not one of the pieces was in the right place! It looked nothing like the picture you see on their menu. The fruit and nuts were just thrown around it on the plate. In terms of taste, it was OK. It wasn't too dry or sloppy so that is good but they use what seemed like sourdough bread so it tasted sour. All in all, a horrible experience that was way over priced.
They do have a nice fitness center that is well equipped and a decent sized indoor pool. However, there are no showers in the pool area nor locker room access to the pool for you to rinse before entering. I wanted to at least wet my hair before going into the chlorine and I had to walk through the hall/gym area before I could get to the pool. It's a beautiful set up though - as you swim you can see the tops of the downtown skyscrapers in the distance.
They use t-mobile hotspot wireless Internet access so that is a bonus as I have this service already. Their central air seems screwy to us as it was freezing when we came in. We kept lowering the temp and it stayed cold throughout the night so this morning we turned it off. We're at a decent temperature (though I'm still a bit chilly in my tank top) but we have no air flow now. The only option is to try to turn the heat on with a low setting...but it's August and hot outside...seems immoral!
Anyways, so will I be staying here again? I hope not! We got a good price so if it's between paying $250 or so somewhere else, then I'll be back. But I'll definitely try hard to get a good deal elsewhere...somewhere closer to food and shopping and far from the highway noise.
