the bed was so uncomfortable, i don't think that neither my husband nor myself got a good night sleep there.  there was ample room for parking so they shouldn't be charging $19/night for it.  also when we got there it had been raining hard all day and there was a river (complete with current) flowing through the parking lot.
the flat screen tv was nice but with an analog signal, it was pointless.

also be aware that john wayne airport is VERY close by so you start hearing planes flying over ahead at about 7am.

other than that it was worth $50/night that we spent on priceline.

First of all let me just say this, I don't write 1 star reviews unless people need to warn people of it. Like many of my other 1 stars this one is no different. When me and my friend Cassie got there I think "Hey this place looks pretty classy" but it wasn't. As nice as it was when me and Cassie got to the Lito (the part of the hotel we were staying at with my mom and sister) so anyway when me and Cassie got there  are key wasn't working so we thought we just had to leave it in the hole for longer. but no 27 try's later a door man (I forgot the name ) he was kinda old maybe 49? anyway he asked us if we were having a problem so we told him about it and he helped us get into are rooms. He told us that we should get are card remagnetized because that might be the problem. That is the old reason I even bothered writing this review to thank the kind gent for helping me and Cassie into are rooms oh and by the way he just opened are door with his key.

The room was small and smelled like mold, and are room was right next to the golf course so me and Cassie had to deal with people walking right near are window door the hole time. Also I had a constant fear that i was going to be hit by a golf ball if i went outside to the small deck. also when i did go outside when we first got there I found out that they keep all of they're clean towels and such in a large tent with holes that was right next to are room. Okay if I owned a hotel I would have at leased a tent with No holes and away from the hotel guests so they cant complain about it on a yelp review (Like so).

Also my mom called the credit card company and found out that the stupid hotel was charging us $200 a night and not $100 like they're supposed too! THEY HIT MY MOM'S CREDIT CARD FOR EVERYTHING I WAS SCARED TO PEE IN THE TOILET BECAUSE THEY WOULD CHARGE US FOR USING THE STUPID FREAKING BATH ROOM!!

Also when me, Cassie, and my sister went to the the front desk to get are card rescanned there was a long line and I saw one of those Rollie carts that those bell boys use and me being an 11 year old that watches to much day time TV thought about a show (I dunno if I should say it cuz I might getz in trouble by Disney channel =P)
where these 2 twin blond boys live in a hotel and do whatever they want and in some of the episodes they ride in these things so I put my hand on the card just because I never saw one before and this bell boy named "AARON" yells "EXCUSE ME MA'AM DO YOU NEED SOME HELP OR SOMETHING!?" So loud that people at other hotels could hear him. So my sister threw him a dirty look for embarrassing me and he shut up real fast.

Also when we got are card rescanned this Asian lady says "Don't put your cell phone next to the key or it'll be demagnetized" Real snobby like. Okay that was the same lady who checked me and Cassie in, She never said ANYTHING about are cell phones being near it.
and another thing to her,
1. My mom is paying lots of cash to stay here so be nice stupid
2. You get payed to help people check in, you aren't rich, you aren't famous don't act like a snob.
3. Your nose job sucks...

Anyway that was only the first day so I don't want to make this a really long review. So if you like snobby hotel employees, Moldy rooms, dirty towels then check into the Hyatt hotel. Other wise don't waste your time or money here at the Hyatt Hotel in New Port Beach.

No full length mirror? Hyatt, how do you expect me to know what not to wear if I can't see half my body?

Adding to my displeasure, requests for a specific location and type of room were totally disregarded despite calling in advance. I got the distinct impression that my desires weren't even considered (despite my repeating them when I arrived at the front desk.) Hyatt, if you're trying to delight your customer, it's not working!

But wait! There's more! Parking is $19 a night and the system is totally lame - every time I entered or left the parking lot someone was stuck at the gate unable to get out. We had to have our hotel keys redone to enable us to get out.

And that's not all! The bathroom was absurdly small (this coming from a Manhattanite who hasn't lived in an apartment measuring more than 600 square feet in...too long.)

Mom enjoyed the pool which, in turn, made me happy. Between the rehearsal lunch, wedding, and meeting friends for breakfast and dinner, I never had the chance to get near the water.

Worth noting: the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is extremely close to Orange County's John Wayne Airport (SNA).

Thanks to an astute bid on Priceline (and a little help in the the form of hotel bonus cash from the Negotiator) I snagged three nights at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach for less than $215 total inclusive of taxes. A steal to be sure. Probably the best thing that can be said about my stay here was how little I paid for it.

Is this all you got, Hyatt NB? I mean really, you've got two words in your name that should encourage you to do better: Newport. Beach. Seriously, I think the city should hang its head in shame with this hotel.
Stayed here for one night while doing some business in the OC and I tell you this place is a ghost town w/a few business travel zombies roaming the El Torito-esque in the 90s lobby. But let's theorize here for a bit, maybe that's the look they're going for! Lazy, laid back beach style, cabana type rooms but really they're your typical motel rooms with a contemporary flat screen to remind you hey we can still afford you some technology (although you do have to pay for wifi!)
Service isn't too bad, although it seems like all the staff were wanna-be OC cast members (the show, not the county). Valet is prompt, front desk and bell staff are respectful. Definitely in need of some major renovation.

I dont really dig this Hyatt. You would think it would be a jewell of the Hyatt brand since its located ina  pretty upscale area. I didnt care for it at all. The layout is odd...The parkingis so far away from the rooms its ridiculous to charge for it. I felt like we could've have gotten better for the money...I am a Hyatt girl but Iwont be staying at this location again

* Pros *

- Great Customer Service
- Located Next to Many Shopping Centers (Fashion Island & The Spectrum)
- Good size gym with all machines up to date with television screens
- Food at Del Sol restaurant was Good, a little pricey but your paying for the name of the hotel.

* Cons *

- The room was nothing special. The colors were dull, nothing like shown in the website or pictures. My refrigerator was broken.
- The Floors are VERY thin. I had to switch rooms because the people a floor above me were walking all night and I could hear every step. The new room I checked into was just as bad.  I could literally hear the conversation from upstairs
- Parking is $19.00 a night and valet is $27.00
The parking was about a 5 minute walk to my room.

Summary: The average cost for each night is $230.. You can find a cheaper rate if you book thru priceline.
This hotel has few amenities for the price. I don't plan on coming here again. I've stayed at much better resorts.

(( The past couple yelp reviews are accurate, trust me ))

My review is for their customer service in connection with their Summer Jazz Series.

Short and sweet: I had purchased a ticket to see David Benoit and was not able to make the performance Asked for refund prior to performance. Received a perfunctory email in response stating that there are no refunds. Period. I then asked if they would at least allow me to attend another performance so I am not throwing 50 bucks away. No response.

Do they have to do anything or even offer me anything? Not at all. But most higher end establishments would offer SOMEthing to try to help me out

I live in Irvine so there isn't a chance that I would ever use their accommodations, but now there is no chance that I would recommend them to anyone. Lots of nice hotels in Newport with at least the courtesy to respond to inquiries.

Average room, with average amenities.  I really despise being nickel and dimed though, $19/day for parking and $10/day for Internet access, give me a break.

If you want a nice play to stay near by, I'd stay in the Westin over at South Coast Plaza over this Hyatt any day.

So, It was a nice place.  We went to the bar, and got some dessert and some wine, which was fine.  But the room was disappointing. The walls were so thin that I could hear the guy snoring ALL NIGHT LONG.  So, while my boyfriend slept happily (he is a heavy sleeper), i was awake most of the night.  Then when I finally got to sleep, it was close to morning, and my "neighbor" woke up...and I could hear him talking all morning, when I was trying to finally get some sleep.  All the while, my boyfriend was sleeping happily (haha).  It ruined my next day, since i spent most of it yawning and tired.  I wouldn't stay here again.

Also, my other complaint was that they charge for parking.  Its an empty parking lot, and charging $19 a day for parking seems steep for no reason.  Thats annoying.

Loved it! Yes, parking is $19 a night and you have to walk a bit from your car to the hotel, but it's not a big deal ($27 to valet your car). If you book a room at the Hyatt you should expect to pay for parking (it's not the Holiday Inn folks) but whatever. I thought the room was well equipped with a nice flat screen tv, a working remote (can't be taken for granted!), super comfortable beds, and a refrigerator. The bathroom was large, good water pressure, nice bath products, and they even give you some free Aquafresh toothpaste (always nice for the constant traveler). The staff was very friendly, though the valet guys might have been a bit over ambitious with their offers to carry our bags, park the car, etc. Our favorite part of the hotel however, is the little balcony off of the room that overlooked the Back Bay. There's a nice table and a couple of chairs with a great view of the sunset. Fabulous! We walked down to one of the bars, got a couple glasses of wine, and brought it up to the room to enjoy. Very nice for the rather inexpensive price we got the room for at Travelocity. I would definitely stay here again!!

Formerly known as the Hyatt Newporter, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Newport Beach is a really lovely property reminescent of a resort, though it isn't one. The beds are sooooooooo comfortable and come complete with comforters and feather pillows. The bathroom amenities are also excellent. Although the rooms aren't really that big, it's pleasantly sized.

There are a few things which kept it from receiving a full 5 stars. The parking lot is really far away from the hotel itself which means that if you were driving and parking you'd have to haul your luggage up a slight hill to the hotel. The corridors are narrow and once inside the elevator going towards your room, it starts to look really generic. That part kind of killed the feel of what a nice hotel it is. The elevator is extremely small and if you happen to be in there with a bellhop you basically have no room to stand. The other thing is that there was only one pen in the room. Usually you would find one by the desk and one on the nightstand.

Room service is efficient and the food wasn't bad at all. All in all, would definitely stay here again if in the neighborhood.

I am getting so tired of 'four star' hotels charging their guests for parking, especially when it is abundant.  Minus one star for that nonsense.

Other than that, the Hyatt was great.  Their beds are not as soft and squishy as the Westin type beds, but the room was comfortable, and the staff friendly.

This is a great place to stay for families too.  There is ping pong outdoors, several pools, a hot tub, shuffleboard, etc.

Also, I got a 4 star hotel at a 2 star price, so worth it.

Negatives:  $16 bucks to park your own car.  There are no good bars (other than the hotels bar, which was ok) within walking distance.

3 stars is for the very comfortable bed and pillows.

The hotel is not new, but the hotel grounds are beautiful with a lots of floral.

My complain like many others, $19 a day for parking, non-heating swimming pool, and not so quiet air conditioning.

As read online, people just park on the back bay road, where hotel has a convenient entrance, which is actually closer to our room than the hotel parking lot.

Let's talk about the Summer Jazz Series, held here for many years now.
On 18 Friday evenings from June 9 to October 6, the biggest names in Smooth Jazz perform in an outdoor ampitheatre. This venue is unique and with sponsorship by 94.7 The Wave and Volvo, among others.
I want to compliment the booking agent who puts together the lineup. It would seem that the artists appreciate it as well, as many return year after year. Try it sometimes, I think you will enjoy!

Do you like to play mini golf?  I do! I do!  But I am slightly snobby with my love for the mini golf, as I love playing on real greens.  My first experience playing on the plush, real grass was in Vegas.... but you don't have to travel that far for that same experience.... come to this Hyatt and play a great nine hole 3-par course. It will be about $20 and they will give you a driver & a putter if you don't have one.  About the 7th hole, there's a great view of Newport Harbor ontop of the hill where you can watch the sunset...ahhhh...

We also brought our own little backpack cooler thing to have our cocktails on the course.  Enjoy!

It's nice that this place is next to a beach inlet. It isn't nice that the stagnant water in this inlet produces mosquitoes that find their way into my room.
The dressing room door of my room which led to -not an indoor hallway, but- rather outside into the freezing night chilled me to the bone, and required me to leave the heater on all night.
A beautiful hotel with a tiny lobby, and an outdoor non-heated pool meant only for blazing hot summer nights.
I have no love for real golf, or tennis courts that require dress codes just to smack some balls.

The photos are deceiving. The property is actually quite small. I arranged a conference at the Hyatt Newport Beach and was disappointed with the lack of organization. Though the staff tried to accommodate and be flexible to our needs, the organization was still very messy.

Not much to do around the immediate area, but walk down about a mile to PCH and enjoy a meal along the many restaurants in Newport and CDM.

Be sure to check out the jazz festival in May.

I stayed here once before as my friend's date to a wedding. I was nervous the whole time because I never "slept over" with this particular friend, even though we've known each other since middle school.

This time around, I was by myself so the whole place had a much different feel for me.  Service was terrific and the room was relatively close to the lobby. I got a room here for a steal ($85) on Hotwire.

My only complaint was the couple in the next room screwing for 24 hours.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!! This hotel is a sorry excuse. We stayed for 5 days & 4 nighs. They charge you and nickle and dime you for every thing. NO PARKING, NO INTERNET, NO NOTHING. Everything is for an extra charge. There were a heap of cigarette butts by the pool side when we arrived, they were still there when we left. we just looked at them everyday, and thinking maybe today is the day they clean. We had bugs in our room and my bed sheets were stained. and were never changed during our whole stay. No open restaurant on site, and breakfast buffet is way too expensive. Our windows wouldn't even lock. Anyone could cut the screen and stolen our useless laptops. well not useless unless you pay ton o money to have internet access. You know? the kind thats free in other hotels! Front staff was friendly, but the manager made us feel bad for asking for a discount on the not-previously-disclosed enormous parking fee. SO PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!

Stayed here a few year ago and this is the second stay.  Rooms are of good size, and they added a flat screen TV since the last stay.

I like to fact the Balboa island is close by and there's even a big mall (fashion island) with half mile or so.

I will stay again.

the facilities are nice. the catered food is so so. i really enjoyed hanging out at the bar late nite and the fire pit right outside. they took the billiard tables out of the place though, and for that i am pissed.

This hotel is one of the few places in SoCal that can accommodate a large wedding (300+) o'Glatt kosher guests.  Unfortunately, the food is hit-or-miss, but the hotel grounds themselves are lovely.  The rooms are somewhat updated, but the bathrooms haven't caught up... mold ain't okay, people!  Thin walls and doors complicated my attempts to sleep.  Still, the location can't be beat.

I'll always remember this place as the Newporter even though they've done their marketing rebranding thing. Was sent here a few times for professional classes, which in all consideration is a really nice place for that. Normally they hole you up in some lame office space. Great hotel space, plenty of parking and an area that is definitely resort like. I'd definitely like to return and stay on my own time as opposed to being here for work functions, but still, it's enjoyable stay regardless.
