26 reviews for Hyatt Regency Long Beach
Undoubtably beautiful, a spacious lobby with several restaurants, a bar, in the middle of downtown Long Beach.
While I felt high class in this hotel, I didn't realize the hotel didn't come with complimentary breakfast and parking that would cost me $16 a night, nor did I realize it wasn't free to use the internet. I would have liked more notice on these issues before checking into the hotel, because they wouldn't let me check out. Although all this was paid for by my work, I felt bad and checked out the next day.
Although there are other hotels that would be more convenient for me to stay it, it was all worth it for the Portico White Ginger bathroom amenities. The smell on this is heavenly!!! I would go back solely for this. Oh and for the fact that I don't have to pay anything, of course. ;)

when certain brand names are attached to a product, you have certain expectations. this hotel does not live up to it's name. the rooms were not too clean, the air conditioning would not change temperature, the hallway decor is old. there are several hyatt places that are twice better than this hotel.
the hotel location is great, lots of restaurants in the area. the beach is close by. our view was nice.
i just wished they tried better.
I paid HOW much for this room??
The good: The hotel is located walking distance to a lot of great restaurants, bars, and of course The Queen Mary. Staff is very nice and courteous.
The bad: No free Internet , Room was small and not very clean, uncomfortable beds, really small TV and Parking is $16 a night regardless of stay.
Not terrible. But not great.
The good: location is within walking distance to a lot of good food and stuff to do. Views are awesome , right outside a marina filled with sailboats, the place is clean. Also friendly people.
The bad: super firm beds, no free Internet (WTF) thank god for the iPhone. Really bad breakfast food. What the hell is a wheat pancake ? Well the long beach hyatt thinks it's an edible hockey puck slightly warmed.

My boyfriend & I really like it here. It's become sort-a like our home away from home. Here's my low-down:
Room: Beds super comfy~ 5 stars from me in this department! I also think that all rooms have some sort of view-- we've been lucky to have really nice ones too!
Customer service: So nice, great!! I love da customer service here. Anytime I've had to order room service, get a wake up call, or call for anything or anytime we've had food dropped off to our room, the staff is so nice and polite-- you feel like royalty the way they talk to you :)
Room service: Love, love the angus burger~! So yummy. Their food is actually rather good. I didn't like the chicken sandwich very much but all else has been good. Breakfast was yummy too, just be aware their room service is pricy!!
Why didn't I give this 5 stars:
* No WiFi, I mean, they advertise it but they don't tell you it'll cost you like $10 to use it. Then we read that we can use their ethernet cable or something by the desk, so we thought yay-- then-- no cable! Guess they took them out so they only have one option available~ WiFi for $10!
* The bathrooms could be a bit better. They're clean, simple, but no "wow" effect.
I should mention that the last time we stayed here they were filming Prison Break at the lobby. Kind-a bizarre, but kind-a cool at the same time :)

I'd totally stay here again because the location is prime - in walking distance to all the cool stuff to do in the long beach area. my only gripes are the beds not being too comfy, no internet and the breakfast being the worst possible breakfast ever. not only was the food borderline inedible, the prices were outrageous. we paid $40 for a glorified continental breakfast with artificial orange juice, rubber pancakes and soggy, tasteless bacon.
everything else was great, especially the service. they do treat you like royalty there and my hubby had some packages delivered there and they didn't screw anything up. the pool area and overall design of the building was impressive. Just don't eat breakfast here!
Very nice hotel. great location, near restaurants, freeway, and amusement parks. Free shuttle to the parks. very convenience. The only problem is the person working behind the counter who doesn't know much about the area. I asked few questions and the respond was I don't know. At the conceige counter, the lady gave wrong info about the shopping mall hours. The malls open at 9am on Sunday but close early. The mall actually opens at 11am and not 9am.
Other then that, no complaint.
For the Room & the Lounge:
Room: Be sober enough to appreciate the comfy bedding. Twin sister's boyfriend stayed here for an engineering conference, and Marie and I were lucky enough to crash with him before our 'Deal or No Deal' audition. I thought it would be awkward sleeping in a bed next to theirs, but it was uneventful and my virtue remains intact. The staff at the front desk were very nice - even when I rang their bell fifty times at 4 am this morning, because I was running late for the airport and needed to mail a letter to a very important penpal.
Lounge: When Marie and I grabbed some drinks here last night, some people walked up and asked us to pose in photos with them. Then the waiters nervously approached and asked for our autographs. This was very weird. Who did they think we were? I wasn't sure, so I scribbled my name illegibly. (I'm a pleaser and would hate to disappoint).
I would gladly stay here again. The star treatment makes me think I should wear makeup and brush my hair more often.

Had the chance to stay here after a wedding in Palos Verdes this past weekend.
The beds are nice and big.
They printed directions for me on my way out and didn't judge me (out loud).
I love weddings!

After a four night stay in the Hyatt Regency Long Beach I feel qualified to give you the skinny on this hotel.
THE GYM: Like many hotel gyms this one is woefully inadequate. If you're hoping for a squat rack or a straight bar to get in a few deadlifts, you will be disappointed. They do, however, offer headphones which you can plug into the treadmills in case you like a serving of TV with your run. There's an outdoor pool, though it wasn't warm enough during my stay for a swim.
THE STAFF: Very courteous. I didn't call on them for much but a steamer (which they did not have) but my few interactions with the staff were positive from the front desk attendant who checked us in to the concierge who directed Mom and me to the beach.
THE WIFI: Free? Think again! $9.99 per 24 hour period.
I booked the Hyatt Regency Long Beach on Priceline for $125 a night. I was there for work and spent relatively little time in my room. Overall, my stay was decent but the faint smell of stale smoke in my room, lack of hand held steamer (who still uses an iron?), lame gym and high-priced wifi all served to drag down my impression of the place.
To its credit, the hotel was clean and relatively quiet (except for the night they brought in a Beach Boys cover band to entertain the aging conventioneers) and the beds were comfy and topped with sumptuous down comforters.

I was the wedding coordinator for my girlfriend who just got married and the ceremony/reception took place here. It's pretty expensive but c'mon it's the Hyatt. They weren't very flexible in terms of cake included in the wedding package. I guess they can't accomodate all of every bride's needs, but my friend's request wasn't so complicated. They charge so much money for wine and sparkling cider (like $10 a bottle of sparkling cider or something? ridiculous), but the food for the reception was really good. It's really nice walking around the hotel and crossing the street to walk around in the downtown area. Mai Tai, Yardhouse, Borders right across the street. Love it!
My Husband and I stayed here we loved it great comfy king size bed, great view close to shopping, resturants. great resturant and bar. We stayed here while we watched our son at the Pan Games 3/12 and visited family. Will stay here again, matter of fact coming back next summer.
Last Friday, our past president of the Parents Association (who spent 20 years working in the hotel industry and is now a caterer) and I had lunch and did a site visit at the Hyatt.
Maybe I'm biased, because she knew practically every staff member at the hotel, but wow the service. We just happened to be there at a time and day when there was a lull in the holiday happenings, so it seems like everyone stopped by our table to say hi to her.
First, we had lunch at Tides. I haven't eaten at a hotel since I quit my last job (about five months ago) and I don't think I've ever eaten at a hotel in the South Bay area, so it was kind of weird being there. We both had the sandwich buffet, which came with soup, salad, sandwiches (duh) and dessert. I wish I could tell you how much the buffet costs, but one of the catering managers picked up the tab. Haha. Felt like old times. I miss those days... *sigh*
The buffet had just opened when we got there, so everything was fresh. Because it was Friday, they had clam chowder - which was excellent. It was creamy, but not so much that you felt like you were going to have a coronary. The salad ingredients were fresh and they had a good selection. They also had all kinds of bread and meat for the sandwiches. My favorite condiment was the herb mayo. Yum! I just wish they'd had pieces of lettuce for the sandwiches, instead of just the salad lettuce.
The best part, of course, was the dessert. Oh man, if I wasn't there with someone who is technically a "client" I would have gorged myself on that dessert buffet. Instead, I played nice and just had a glass of the chocolate mousse. It was sweet, but not overly so. It was also light and airy, but not so much that I felt sick. I'm one of those people who gets sick eating whipped cream out of a can or a tub, but this had the perfect texture to it.
As for the hotel itself, it's got a great view of the harbor and is very spacious. They have a ballroom with a gorgeous view and reception area and another huge ballroom with an even bigger reception area, though no view. The only thing I didn't like about their big ballroom was that the ceiling felt a little low, not that it was. Maybe it was just dark in there. Their poolside area also has a great view and is big enough for an outdoor cocktail reception. And as I said earlier, the staff was all very friendly. And to bounce off Joss G., the bathrooms are pretty darn nice too. At $2 an hour, parking is also pretty reasonable for a hotel. I think they have a good chance of getting my business in the future.

When I think of a Hyatt, I think of great classy hotel with great services. Not the case. The front desk was great, but this hotel was to busy with convention attendees for me to enjoy any class it might have had. The room was small. We were five minutes late checking out and gave the front desk a courtesy call. The guy on the phone sarcastically indicated that there is usually a 50 dollar late fee charge, but that he'd waive it. Ouuu, wow, thanks. The Hilton never does that. They'd usually graciously grant their guests with an additional hour. I didn't expect to receive sarcasm for being five minute late. Oh well. I'm not staying at another Hyatt.
On the upside, the location of the hotel is great being that it's next to a body of water with a peddle boat service, and the harbour is right across the street.

I stayed at the Hyatt while working at the LBCC. This is a very nice hotel. Good rooms and service.
Stayed at the Hyatt for a business trip. Location next to the convention center (where my company was exhibiting) was extremely convenient. Also there were plenty of nearby restaurants in walking distance to grab a bite to eat on a work filled day. I would recommend this place to fellow business travelers coming to the LB convention center. Its location cannot be beat. People who are on vacation can probably find a more affordable and likewise comparable hotel.
I stayed in a room with a king side bed on the third floor. Lobby was very nice, staff was courteous and helpful. Room was nice. It had a nice view of Rainbow Harbor. I would suspect rooms further up would have an even better view of the surroundings.
I managed to drag myself to the fitness center while I was there. It had very nice state of the art equipment (elliptical, treadmill, weights) and amenities. However the room was a bit small and stuffy. Didn't really matter to me though since it served the purpose of giving me a workout.
My only complaint was I could hear my neighbors talking and getting ready in the morning. The walls were paper thin. My co-worker likewise noticed the same thing in her room on the ninth floor.
First off, *** this is only a review of the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach's LOBBY AREA ***
1.) The restroom - I've never stayed here, I've yet to even dine at the restaurant/cafe here, but I've stopped in twice just to use the restroom. Whatever it is they use for maintaining that not-overwhelming clean smell, I want it for my house. It's a familiar scent, and that alone I think is the reason why this is my secret gotta-pee-but-I-don't-wanna-buy-anything pee place while I'm out in that area.
For both occasions, I'd stopped with company in tow. I'm pretty sure both times they wondered what the hell took me so long. They probably also think I'm crazy for my explanation - I simply dawdle in the restroom just because I like the smell so much. And it's clean. Reminds me of the women's room in the Brass Plum area of San Francisco Centre's Nordstrom, only better smelling...?
2) The lobby rug - if it's still the big, circular rug with the green and yellow (and maybe blue?) swirls - caught my attention, too. I wanted to roll around on it. Yes, I'm one of those weird freaks that could probably make a day out of spending time in a prosh hotel lobby without actually renting a room...so long as they don't catch on and kick me out. I don't think I could roll around on their carpet without catching someone's attention, though.
3) The gift shop - sure, it has your typical $9 teensy bottle of Ibuprofen, Long Beach magnets, tees, other touristy stuff. But they also had these tiki displays with kitschy tiki glassware, bar tools, mugs, etc. There were also some neat little stationery things that I wanted to further build my collection of stuff I own but never use. Don't even get me started on the overpriced "gourmet" boxes of chocolate and equally-expensive chocolate bars. [/drool]
I'd like to stay here even just once, so I could come up with a better review of the real amenities. Also, I really hope that somehow a homeless person or someone equally smelly doesn't find his or her way onto the Intarwebz and check out my review of this place. If I come back and my favorite restroom is all stunk up and nastificated, I'll throw a tantrum on that big, pretty lobby rug.
I feel I should end with a reminder that I am terribly, easily amused.

I love this place. The lobby area is very open but the high ceilings and the decor has a classy and expensive feel. Every time, I've stayed here it always felt like something good was going to happen. The feeling is unusual but nice.
The service has always been great whenever I"ve stayed here.
The rooms are okay and a bit on the small side but the views are spectacular. I usually have stayed here to enjoy the nightlife but unless someplace new opens up in the LBC I won't have a reason to come here.
Self parking can be a little walk if you don't get lucky and find a decent spot.
The walk up the steep little hill to the happening Pine Street area can be a little tough on a girl wearing heels but it's too close to drive or even take a cab so she might have to rough it.
The swimming pool area has always been a bit breezy whenever I've been here so once you go into the water you might have to stay in the water so you don't freeze in the breeze.

this is what you would expect at a hyatt hotel attached to the long beach convention center.
the location is great if you want proximity to all-stores suburban, "hey they have a Yardhouse, a Borders and a TGI Fridays"! Woo!
Long Beach proper itself is a pretty cool place, like (for you San Diegans) a mix of Ocean Beach, El Cajon Blvd. and Imperial Ave. I can't wait to go back and investigate the Long Beach that exists outside the half mile radius around this hotel.
I stayed here on business for a few nights, and really had a great experience. The hotel is located in a great area of Long Beach. It is really within walking distance of a few attractions and some great dining.
I stayed on the 17th floor with regency club access. The view from the room was great. It overlooked the harbor and the Queen Mary. The personnel at the front desk was very professional, helpful and courteous. The concierge was very helpful as well. The club level was very clean, very well stocked of snacks and drinks.
My first night I had room service. Steak and wine seems to be my trend, and actually for room service it was pretty good. It was not a stellar experience, but after traveling all day all I wanted was a warm meal that was cooked properly, which is exactly what I received. I must add they were right on time as well.
The maid service and condition of the room was excellent. All linens are glowing white and everything is very clean, which I like very much.
Amenities, there is a pool, gym, jacuzzi, gift shop, restaurant, very nice and clean lobby area, valet parking, or self parking. I would stay here again.
2 weeks ago we spent a few days at this Hyatt. We really liked it, it was kept very clean and they provided us with excellent customer service. We spent a lot of our time either at the pool or Jacuzzi, my husband loved the Gym that provided, wet towels, nice hand towels and headsets to use while running (it is a very small gym but most of the time it was only him in there).
A lot of business people stay here because the convention center is conveniently located next door. You should always check out what is going on there before booking. We happened to be there when they had the Jazz festival, thank God we like Jazz, we were on the 7th floor and we could hear the music pretty loud. If you must have peace and quiet before going to sleep, take ear plugs just in case there is an event you did not know about.
The location is great, we went across the street and found a Borders, a bowling and arcade as well as other things to do with a teenager, not to mention a Hooters about 6 blocks away (lol).
The concierge told us all about the free transit service. There is a red shuttle that takes your pretty much everywhere for FREE!, did not use the car for about 3 days. We were also told about the $1-$3 rides in the water transport (Catamarans), there is a stop for this service just crossing the street.
I loved the location of this Hyatt and enjoyed eating at the Tides, very good food and if you are not too hungry get a Yogurt parfait (yummy!!).
I visited and stayed here for a work conference for 3 days and was impressed with the hotel. The location is ideal situated in the heart of Long Beach close to the water and across from the pier close to famous Pine Street. The hotel is quite large and the conference facilities and service were adequate and pleasant. The rooms are just right having all the amenities accept free wireless internet access. The staff was friendly and the prices are good for what you get. The restaurant onsite was not so good serving substadard food and not so good service. The pool area is very small but the hotel sits close enough to the beach area and there is a bike path in front of the hotel and a lagoon with paddle boats. It is in a great location across the bay from the Queen Mary ship. The city of Long Beach is desolate, having a tn of bars and restaurants but no people. It is almost deserted on most nights and not a big draw for anyone to come down from busy LA to visit this seemed like forgotten city. Even Friday night was dead. I would recommend this hotel, but I would say pass on Long Beach. If you come to California to visit, stay up closer to LA, its more exciting!
We planned to drive down a day ahead before we took off for our cruise, which launched from San Pedro (~20 minutes away). A good price from Priceline for $60. Great place to walk around and unwind from the drive down from the Bay Area. Rooms were clean and had a great view of the Wharf and the Queen Mary. Reception staff friendly as well. You can valet park or park-ur-self in the garage next door. Parking is $12 night. Many places to eat and shop around the hotel. We took a nice walk on the marina to go the Aquarium of the Pacific. Took advantage of the $3 off/person coupon found in one of the hotel fliers. I would stay here again.

Wow, for once, I'm not the one that ranks a place 1 to 2 stars above the average. Amenities-wise, this place is ok. They have a pool (too cold), a jacuzzi, a decent gym, and a cool lagoon where you can rent peddle boats and race against friends. The view from the 12th floor is spectacular too. My main problem is with the food. Hyatt usally has good brunches, but the dinner was not warm. Also, the bathrooms did not have a fan so everytime you open a door after taking a shower it would result in fogging up the windows.

Surprisingly great as far as Hyatts in non-tropical locations go. Rooms are sparkling clean and linens look brand new. Historical pictures of Long Beach are a nice touch, I always like to see big chains like this add a local touch. Would definitely stay here again if I ever had to go back to Long Beach.
