Amazing room with amazing views.  Fabulous bar and great food.  So easy to get to NYC from the rail station right outside.  I didn't know my way around but the staff was SUPER helpful with maps and info to get me where I wanted to go.

Great price for a room so close to the city.

Parking was a little expensive.  I don't know if this is standard for the area.  But if it was included they would have gotten all 5 stars.

I am a New Jersey snob. That's right. I'm the person who obnoxiously comments on the multitude of smells that permeate as one drives past state lines. I am that person who snarks about it being the armpit of America. I'm that person who grumbles and attempts to quash road rage about all the 'Jersey-drivers' who manage to cut me off. I am that person who will probably end up living in NJ for all of eternity.

That is why this is the most honest opinion about the Hyatt Regency you will get.

Fan-friggin-tastic. Yep. Hyatt Regency in Jersey City, New Jersey is fantastic. The views are spectacular - take your pick: Empire State Building? Wall Street Skyline? or Statue of Liberty? They're all yours. Perhaps you couldn't see them that great from the boardwalk around the hotel (implausible). Why don't you head up to your room and take a gander there? Clear view. Orrrr how about the 9th floor ballroom/dining area? Panoramic views all around and an outdoor deck for good measure.

Service-wise - this place was phenomenal. From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of. When our room seemed to have had a very recent inhabitant who had left the bathroom a mess, we were immediately apologized to, and whisked towards a bigger and better room with an even more amazing view. All the staff we encountered during our 3 day stay was friendly and hospitable and not just a little funny. I personally loved trading digs with our waiter who gave me some hot tips on the best bagels and cream cheeses to match. Faaantasttic.

The parking situation was a bit much I'll admit - $36 for valet vs. $25 to self-park. Blerg. But while I scroll back and forth over the 4 to 5 stars above, I'll leave it at 5 because its a great hotel overall. That and Bagel man won me over.

This place is good 'nuff.

I have meetings in Jersey City every so often, and when I do I will stay here. The location is good, with great views of NYC from most rooms and a PATH station right next to the hotel (for a convenient escape from Jersey City into NY). Otherwise, everything else is fine. It's what you would expect from a Hyatt chain, pretty generic but still good enough.

However, I would probably recommend someone just stay in NYC if they have no reason to be in Jersey City (I wouldn't necessarily consider this a close substitute for staying in NYC).

This Hyatt is wonderful. What can you say about the view? It's breathtaking and priceless. The service was excellent and the staff courteous. The room was clean and classy with a nice-sized flat screen TV. The PATH station was literally a few steps away from the hotel. The only drawback was the $25 overnight parking price. But hey, it was well worth it. I'd give the Hyatt 10 stars if I could.

I absolutely love this Hyatt! I stay at different Hyatt hotels all over the world and I had stayed at the Grand Central Hyatt a few days prior, and let me tell you that I felt so welcomed at this hotel since I walked into the door of the hotel. I got an $800. rate room for something so cheap (under $100.). My room was clean with a beautiful view. Breakfast was so delish! The staff was super nice to me and my guest.

A friend of mine was married this weekend at the Hyatt Jersey City and I was lucky enough to get the wedding party rate for the 2 nights I spent here...

The accommodations were wonderful.  The rooms had great views and the service was what you'd expect from a Hyatt!  Jersey City is a developing community with a ton of character... the wedding itself was beautiful!  The ceremony took place in the Manhattan Room on the 9th floor with views of the city as well as the Statue of Liberty - pretty amazing!  Kosher food and bar didn't disappoint!  Pleasant music and atmosphere in the lobby as well.  I took advantage of the wireless and the fitness center, which kept me wired and fit during my stay.

The only negative I would like to share is that the guys working down at the circular drive were a little clueless when we wanted to take a cab into town.  They pressured us to use their driver instead but didnt' know where the restaurant was that we wanted to go (Marco and Pepe's) or how much to charge us.  Since the concierge assured me that the cab driver would know where to take us, I didn't bring the address and this delayed us about 20 minutes while we attempted to figure this out.  It sounds like it was minor, but it was actually quite a fiasco when the driver that ended up taking us couldn't find the restaurant.  We got over it, but it was frustrating at the time.

When I inquired about staying an extra night, I was shocked that the weekday rate was $459 per night.  I guess we won't be staying another night with that rate!

All in all, we had a very pleasant experience at this hotel, and I would return without a doubt!  I recommend it - especially with a wedding rate or if someone else is footing the bill :)

This is a fancy place with a great view and mediocre food. Service was fine, but within half mile there is much better fare. Go only if you have guests from California who need to see the statue.

Location. Right on the Hudson. 100 feet from front door to your $1.50 gateway to Manhattan.  As part of this short ride, a tour of construction at the World Trade Center. When you buy your Metro pass, you need to make sure to load it up because you can use it for the Subway. One place a short walk is Anthony Bourdain's Les Halles. No review as We only stopped in for a drink on our way to the 6 train.
The rooms where clean and large. You're view can depend but it shouldn't disappoint. See my photo that show my view of the Statue of Liberty.
The staff was great and very helpful. Our group had a little gathering when we got there (at 1AM). The food was amazing. Prosciutto, Nuts with fresh honey, assortment of cheeses, canole's.
It is a great place to stay. Easy PATH train ride from Newark Airport and easy cheap access to Manhattan. A must stay place.

Excellent Hyatt hotel in Jersey City that is right across from Manhattan -it's literally right next to the PATH station and will get you into World Trade Center in one stop (~12 min) or others parts of NYC up to 33rd St. (~30 min) in a couple of extra stops. Extremely convenient and both the PATH and this area seem safe even late at night.

Beautiful view of Manhattan and nice place to stay if you want to be accessible to all the pleasures of Manhattan but prefer to stay in a more relaxing environment (or if you can't find a hotel there). The hotel feels new and impeccably clean, rooms are nice, and service is surprisingly friendly.

Bottom line: Never though much about staying in Jersey City when visiting Manhattan but this place has changed my mind and will definitely be an option.

[NOTE, I did not stay at this hotel but was at a conference here]

I would have stayed at this hotel, but the conference rate rooms were all taken so the rate would have been $529/night.  So I was just here for the conference.

Pros:  Nice rooms, helpful staff, good AV support, lots of coffee and water.  Also right by a PATH station.   Amazing views.

Cons:  Food was subpar [the conference organizers wanting to stay within a budget also contributed to this] and repetitive, the banquet seemed poorly organized.  There isn't much to eat in the area so expect to take the PATH somewhere for food.  The bar is VERY expensive so be warned.

Was here in June for a week for a dance competition, $134 convention rate, very good for something so near NYC.  Even though it is located in Jersey City, you can be in NYC, World Trade Center station in 12 minutes or 33rd. in midtown in 30 minutes by using the PATH train, $2 each way, right next door to the hotel...soooooo convenient.   I felt safe traveling and coming back to the hotel, coming in late from a Broadway show or out dancing.
The 4 star hotel sits on the Hudson river and across the river you see NYC, especially from their 9th floor ballroom, it is an awesome sight at night.  The rooms are decorated in black granite and gold with a great desk area to set up your laptop.  Have a fridge in the room, great to store the leftovers from Little Italy and Carnegie Deli.  The beds are thick and tall and linens are high threadcount, I was in a room, near the elevators and next door to the ice/soda and didn't hear the noises which I find amazing and wonderful.  It was muggy so the AC was a welcomed respite and with the hotel over the water, the cool breeze is
refreshing compared to the heat of NYC and the subways.  The staff at the front desk is friendly and customer serviced oriented.  Concierge printed out my boarding pass and set up a last minute limo for $40 to Newark Airport, no matter how many are in the limo.  The State Shuttle service was charging people more then their quoted/email price.
The only downside, checkin is at 3pm and the last three years, the earliest they let me check in is at 2pm.  I usually fly the red eye and arrive at 7am, so I go to the hotel, drop off my luggage and spend the rest of the day in the city til check in.

I stayed here when visiting NYC from 10/7 to 10/11 2008. The rates were dirt cheap for a hotel of this caliber. the staff were nice and courteous. the housekeepers did an excellent job and the breakfast buffet was great. The views are stunning at night and, especially on a clear morning. Large rooms with comfy beds, PATH and ferry service next door. What else could you want for a memorable trip to NYC.
