Michael and I had an exhausting summer and we desperately needed to get away. The staff at the Hyatt Huntington Beach made sure we had an extremely relaxing vacation.

Avoid the Club Rooms and try to grab one of the standard ocean front rooms (for some odd reason the Club Rooms are smaller & have obstructed ocean views).

If you've got kids- head over to the Sliders Pool. Equipped with several waterslides, different sized pools, and cabanas with built in flat screens- this is the place to hang out. Wondering why Michael and I hung out here instead of the "quiet" pool?? Two words: Poolside Bar. Their bartender, Camille, hooked us up with some tasty drinks (and she kept them coming all day long). Kids? Where? Huh? Zzzzzzzz.

Make sure to also stop by the Red Chair Lounge. Close out the day by enjoying tasty apps & a good bottle of wine snuggling up next to their outdoor fire pit.

The staff at this hotel is either non-existent or was completely not phased by multiple drunk members of a bridal party jumping into their pool fully clothed at 7 pm on a Saturday, scaring other guests out of the pool area.

I see that as a good thing today, but reserve the right to hate any wedding party that ruins my relaxing weekend or uses the F word repeatedly in front of my children in the future. Hypocritical? Yes. Fun? Yes!

Unless "resort" by definition means "town", or "village", or even "city", this place is not a resort.  Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach could be a college campus, a metropolitan in South Dakota, a miniature Disney world.  They might have their own zip code, or area code, or both.

I think there was an airport in the back, 50 restaurants, 200 retail shops, a swimming pool bigger than Lake Michigan, and about 85,000 hotel rooms.  There was a bridge connected to the beach, a fire pit in the middle of the retail shops, doorman at every possible door. I seriously thought about laying down and just have the hotel staff carry me everywhere (they probably would of done it).

I arrived for a 2pm wedding on a Saturday morning and this place was so big that by the time I walked from valet parking to the outdoor wedding ceremony area it was 2:45.  They should have a tram/subway system.

Seriously, this place is huge.  Rooms are expensive, but nice.  Walking through the maze they called the hotel hallway I felt like Keanu Reeves running in & out of that door maze trying to save the Key maker in the Matrix, hot damn!

Staff was extremely friendly and the food, well the wedding reception was catered but the Sunday breakfast brunch was delicious.  I always love omelet stations and they had a great one!  This is a resort in a class by itself and you do pay for what you get, wow.

Absolutely love this resort!! Great staff, great rooms, service was awesome, and great amenities. And can't forget the location- just walk across a bridge and you are right there! Held a conference there- the meeting rooms are amazing! If you are looking for a spot to get a way or host your next conference or meeting, definitely would recommend this resort :)

A bit of a forewarning - this review is going to be biased, because I had an unusually great experience here.  I had booked a double-queen suite at the resort, and when we drove up and valet parked our car, I soon found out that the hotel had filled up, and that they couldn't give us our room.  Instead, they upgraded us to the Presidential suite.  The Presidential!  They only have three of them in the resort, all on the fourth floor of each of the three central buildings, and all overlooking the ocean, with additional views of the courtyard below.

Talking with the guy at the front desk, the Presidential isn't even rented out normally - you can't book it with them.  It's only given out when management sees fit.  We just got lucky, I suppose, that the rest of the resort was full.  Our 14-foot high ceilings, bar with 5 stools, full-sized kitchen, extra-large living room with remote-controlled fireplace and surround sound to go with the big-screen TV, private computer, king-sized bed, extra half-bathroom, and bathroom the size of a normal-sized suite...well, those things definitely skewed my bias in favor of this place.

After exploring the rooms for a while, we were getting hungry and decided to go out for some pho.  The concierge told us about his favorite place to go, so we drove over and tried it out.  It was good enough that we hit it up the next day for some lunch before heading out of town.

Full up on pho, we came back to the Hyatt and spent some time in the grotto spas.  Then it was getting a bit late, so we decided to spend the rest of the night in our suite.  To celebrate good fortune, we got room service for a bottle of champagne and some orange juice for mimosas.  I ordered three glasses of fresh-squeezed orange juice, but the kitchen sent up a full pitcher at no extra cost.

We stayed up late, playing around in the suite and splashing around a bit in our jacuzzi-style bath tub (actually fit three of us [in swimsuits, you sicko!] comfortably).  When it came time to finally crash, I ended up on one of the sofas which still offered a great night of sleep.

Aside from my personal experience, the valet service was always fast and courteous, the concierge was helpful, and all staff seemed to have permanent smiles on their faces.  I don't know if I'll be staying here again, just for the fact that I know that it would never be the same experience again, but I would still strongly suggest other people to check this out.

The Hyatt provided a very relaxing environment with heated pools and jacuzzis, which were oddly empty at night. Imagine starting your mornign with a cup of coffee and a swim in the perfect-temperatured pool, followed by a dip in the jacuzzi, followed by more pool, followed by more jacuzzi....ok, ok...i may have acted like a little kid, but it was so much fun having those two to yourself in the morning. Then get in a little early morning sun bathing before the sun gets too intense. That's when it's time for breakfast. :)

The Red Room Lounge (or whatever it's called) is a nice way to settle into vacation mode too. Bring out your competative spirit over a game of pool and then mellow out by the bonfire outside. Watch for the ducks though, they get curious and fearless. I played peek-a-boo with one and then if tried to eat my purse. Quirky touch for sure, couldn't afford the peacocks?

I'd skip the dinner. It was not amazing and not intended for a couple of foodies from SF.  The steak was good though!

Comfy bed and good bath amenities are always pluses in my book!

Just stayed here for a conference for 3 days. Our group had rented out the entire place. The grounds are awesome. Beautiful, well kept, clean, on the beach, great service, good food. What more can you ask for?
Only a few complaints. The parking is an exorbitant $25 a night. They nickel and dime you for internet in your room $9.99 for 24 hours.  We had a "beach day" and I found out that the surfboards, wetsuits, boogie board, bikes were all free for us that afternoon. It was free so I thought I'd try, but they didn't have leashes on their surfboards!!  Almost drowned... other than that it was an excellent experience.

I believe this hotel is an example of pride in ownership that translates to his hotel and staff. AFter a horrific experience at the Hyatt manchester in San Diego, I completely realized an immediate difference!

Everyone is welcoming and concerned looking to best service your needs. Cierra at the front desk is a total delight, professional, thoughtful and helpful.

Then there is this little firecracker of a bell person, Sherri, what a sweet and lovely woman that can efficiently manage your bags better than any of the gents. She obviously loves her job and it shows.

The staff do make the hotel, but; also the rooms are roomy well appointed, clean and the views are to die for.

I have had stayed here before and received the same exceptional service!

The pools, spa, shops and the grounds are outstanding!

I greatly appreciate spending my time in an exceptional hotel and this hotel will meet and exceed your expectations in every way.

Thank you!!! I will be back often!

My husband and I had our wedding reception here and it we just had the best experience ever!

The staff was very nice and acommodating.  They catered to our every need and wanted to make sure that our day was just as we imagined it to be, and it turned out perfect!

Everything went well that day.  The ballroom was gorgeous and turned out better than I imagined, the audio was perfect, the tables were set up in the right way.  The staff was courteous to our guests and it was wonderful.

My husband had upgraded our Jr. Suite to the honeymoon suite and we had an after party in our suite for our close friends and family members.  The staff graciously transferred our luggage from our rooms to our suite and they set it up nicely so that when we came in, we were greeted with a bottle of champagne and this beautiful set up of chocolate dipped strawberries in what looked like a tiny edible beach.  It was just gorgeous.

The suite was huge!  We had a large balcony, a very large sitting area with its own bathroom, closet, a small bar and a kitchenette type of thing.  Our bedroom was just beautiful, it had a sitting area of its own and a large king sized bed.  They had placed our wedding gifts in there for us and stacked them up to decorate one side of our room.  There was also a safe in our room in case there were any valuables that needed to be placed in there.  We had a large flat screen tv as well.  The bathroom was beautiful and spacious.  Our room had a tub and a shower stall lined with beautiful tile.  The granite counter tops and the decor was very nice and inviting.  The room was perfect.

We partied for a while over there and after kicking everyone out, we knocked out.  We woke up a little late and we asked for late check out and they were very gracious about it.  No questions asked.

I just love this place!!!  My husband and I have stayed here on our anniversary and will definitely come back to celebrate our future anniversaries here.

Went to this hotel for a wedding and had a great time. The food was ok. The lounge was nice, the room we had was large and opened to the outside deck which was a great touch, easy to access and the staff was very friendly. The women's restroom had one downside, the handicap bathroom was hard to find since it was not marked (this can be hard for those who have a hard time getting around or can't see well) so that was a downside. My only other low point goes to the lounge singer/piano player - OMG he sucked so hard.

I would go there again for sure, would love to have stayed there to report on the rooms or spa, but for now my 4 stars goes to the hotel itself and staff.

Here's my story:

I got to the valet station and inquired about the valet prices, suspecting that the prices at a resort near the beach might be higher than what I really wanted to pay. Of course, I wasn't a guest at the hotel; I was there for a wedding rehearsal.

The valet attendant looked up the wedding party on some sort of checklist he had and quoted me the price of $0.00 for the valet since the wedding party was hosting. Great - saves me 12 bucks.

After the rehearsal, I take my valet stub to the cashier to pay my $0.00 (and get change for tip) when the jaded employee tells me I owe her 12 dollars. I tell her that there's been a mistake. I'm part of a wedding party and the valet attendant looked it up and told me it was free. After going back and forth, she insisted that she could do nothing about it, so she volunteered her manager. Fine. No problem - we'll get it all worked out.

Manager comes and I tell him the simple story. I say the following lines:

"I understand that your valet is 12 dollars but I was quoted it as being free since I was part of a wedding rehearsal."

"I understand that your valet attendant made a mistake and read the list wrong, but I don't see why I should be responsible to pay 12 dollars when I made no mistake."

"He told me free - if I had known that this was 12 dollars, I would have arranged for a carpool - I'm not exactly in the social status where paying 12 bucks for valet is a normal thing."

He responded, every dang single time: "I'm sorry sir but unfortunately I can't do anything about the situation. I understand that it's unfair but if you would have parked in the lot across the street, they would have also charged you 12 dollars."

Hyatt: This is not about 12 dollars. This is simply about your company being ethical and owning up to your mistakes.

A higher manager said this: "So you want me to comp you your 12 dollars and possibly get that valet guy fired?"

My response: "I don't wish for anyone to be fired, but I do want you to understand that he made a mistake, not me. As a matter of fact, I didn't do ANYTHING wrong whatsoever so I don't understand why I'm the one getting screwed. And by the way, the valet attendant who screwed up should be reprimanded in some way, shape or form - isn't that the way it works."

In the end, I paid the 12 dollars because I felt TRULY bad for the wedding couple who was standing 5 feet away from me, listening to every argument I was having with the manager. I know that they probably were a combination of upset and uncomfortable and I would rather pay 12 unjustified dollars than have to put them through that.

The property was beautiful. The wedding was beautiful (the next day). The food was not bad. Too bad this one small experience really screwed it up big-time for me.

My review is based on my experience at a wedding I attended last weekend.

We got here on time, but the wedding was running late, so my fiance and I decided to take a stroll.  The grounds are beautiful with fountains and lots of trees and flowers.  From what I saw on their website, there are different locations where wedding ceremony can be held.  Even if you don't book a ceremony outdoor, you still have full use of the resort for taking photos.

My friend's wedding ceremony and reception were held in one of the small ballroom.  Although it was small and intimate (60 people), the wedding coordinator and staffs were very attentive.  I was really impressed at the wedding coordinator who was present at all times to make sure things were done right and on schedule (once it started).

We had a 3-course meal that was absolutely wonderful.
1) A Salad of Endives - With Poached Baby Pear, Point Reyes Blue Cheese and Candied Walnuts White Balsamic Vinaigrette.
2) Spice Rubbed Chicken Breast Presented on a bed of Saffron-Herb Orzo Thyme Bordelaise
3) Vanilla Ice Cream With Fresh Berries

My friend had a very tight budget and the hotel was willing to work with her in every way.  There was no open bar but a bar was set up outside the ballroom where guests could buy drinks on their own.  We did get some champagne to toast to the bride/groom.  There was no Hors d'oeuvres and the wedding cake was brought in from another vendor.  At $35/ppl, it was unbelievably affordable.  Although the price was inexpensive, the service and quality remained first class.  Towards the end, one of the manager (I think) came to check and walked around each table and asked how everything was.  Now that is service at its best!

I didn't get a chance to see the hotel room but my friend told me it was fabulous.  She got 1 night with her wedding package and booked a 2nd night at 50% off.

The beach is right across the street and there is a walk way to get to it.  You can take some beautiful pictures at the beach or at several of the hotel gardens.

If you are thinking of having a wedding at the hotel that is beach close, I highly recommend this Hyatt.  Check it out!

Get your credit cards out or be prepared to take out a small loan to stay here.  This place is designed as the ideal tourist beach hotel.  There's a bridge to the beach, the (expensive) rooms are immaculate, service is top notch, and the grounds are well kept.  If I lived in Minnesota and was planning a week long trip to Huntington Beach, I'd save extra and stay here.  It easily out-shines the Hilton hotel down the street -- although the hilton is walking distance to main st and the Hyatt is a long walk or a short drive.

But I live maybe 2 miles from here so it just doesn't make sense for me to stay here, even as a special date night.  We stayed here on our wedding night in '05 in a $750/night suite looking out to the water.  Yes, $750, and it was a couple notches below the most expensive room.  Don't get me wrong, it slept 5 bridesmaids and my wife the night before and managed to be large enough to prevent them from killing each other the next day while they got ready.  I'll let you be the judge if it was worth $1500 to prevent a female snafu from happening.  But god only knows what they charge for that room in 2009 (actually, you could join god and find out by calling them I guess).

So, the rating is a 3 because of the price and the proximity to main st. which is where everyone will end up after a day at the beach.

Awesome hotel. Have really nice shops and restaurants in this strip replicated off a town street they have inside the hotel. The rooms were really nice, spacious and comfortable. Hotel also has a big pool that's really good if you have kids because at the time I was there they had a huge projector screen playing "Finding Nemo" pool side which i thought was cool and something I;ve never seen before.
The hotel is very convenient to the beach, bars, restaurants and stores off of pch and mainstreet.
I reserved a room for the 4th of July for which I assume will be a great time with the fireworks and the huge crowds that are drawn to the area.

This is my first rating of 5 stars, which means I wouldn't hand out a rating like this easily.

This place was fantastic! The room with our AAA discount was only like $190 per night which is a fantastic rate if you are as bid a hotel snob as I am.

We stayed here on a recent trip with our kids to Disneyland. It worked out great, it's only about a 25-30 minute drive to the park from here and it's really nice to drive away from teh craziness of Disney at night and escape to the beach.

When we arrived we were checked in promptly and they did everything right. The beds were amazing with thick fluffy down comforters. They have a brand new pool area which is great for kids, so you don't have to feel like you're ruining the adults relaxation time at the other pool.

There are these great firepits all around the hotel and they sell Smores kits at the grocery in the retail area. Too cute! We did smore's one night after a long day at Disneyland.

They also rent bikes, and there's a surfing shop. This is true California fun! Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend at the hotel and the beach, we did too much Disney. We will be back, and we will bring friends!

This is an outstanding hotel right by the ocean. It's no Hotel Del Coronado by any means, but it does a good job of evoking that sort of sprawling campus feel that the Hotel Del does.

I've been here twice: once for a Christmas banquet hosted by my company back in December 2007 and once again in September 2008 for a conference that my company also held for our clients.

I was impressed with the large hallways and corridors leading to the banquet rooms and a pretty impressive lobby that leads directly to a pool on the other end. The style of the interior was a Spanish contemporary which is typical of Orange County high life.

The location is within walking distance to Main Street in Huntington Beach, as well as the pier. Located on PCH, it's probably one of the nicer hotels you'll come across on the drive through the California coast, and a great hotel to accomodate conferences for out-of-state vistors to Orange County who want to experience California surf culture at its finest.

By default my friend and I HAD TO stay here after a wedding. The valet guys told my friend that they could not locate his keys and we were assuming someone took it for a ride because it's a luxury car.  BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.  After many many complaints, we were comped a room here with unlimited room service which didn't really make up for it.

Still the valet service was horrible!  After a long night at the wedding, all we wanted to do was get back to our own homes and sleep.  But NO, we were stuck here.

The rooms were nice and place is gorgeous but with this type of service who would even bother coming back.

Eventually, the next morning they found his keys.  It took how many hours??? I think thats full of BS.

The hotel is very elegant and classy.  The ocean view king bed room was worth the money.

The only turnoff was the lack of self parking spaces.

There are the $25 valet parking and $10 public parking across the beach.  The valet guys and the clerk were nice enough NOT to inform me that I needed a "hang tag" to park overnight at the public parking when I asked what sort of parking are available.  In fact,  the valet boy just asked me for my key in a not so friendly tone when I walked in the front door.  It's like they don't want you to know there are public parking available.

So if you prefer self parking, go up to the valet guys and ask for a hang tag then head to the public parking lot, pay 10$ park by the little bridge so you're within3 mins walking distance to the hotel.

This is review of one of their penthouse suites.

I never seen a suite like this. It was huge.  Came here after late night clubbing to see some friends I haven't seen in ages.

Let's review some highlights:
-Entire glass shower that could fit 12 people (we made sure to check the numbers, so 12 of us crammed in the shower and we fit)
-Hot tub fit about 8 people.
-Beds were so comfy and the sheets..omg the sheets..egyptian cotton at it's finest.
-The view of the beach was amazing. Especially when it's around 6AM and the morning starts to arrive. Totally soak in the scenery.
-Pretty sound proof rooms.
-Staff/room service was very accomodating considering it was at 5AM.  My eggs benedict were pretty freakin' awesome!

*Extra bonus for the nice young man working valet during the graveyard shift. He could tell we were just visiting to and he said that if we weren't staying over night, he'd be happy to keep our car infront and not charge us for parking. AWWWW what a sweet heart.

This place is like my family's weekend beach house.  Even though we live in Pasadena, we probably stay there a good 10-12 times a year between all of us.

Being unmarried and childless (thank God!), the only real downside for me is the pool can be really chaotic with all the kids playing and screaming.  But they're building a second pool, which hopefully will have a min. age requirement, but even if it doesn't, it should still spread out the chaos to a more relaxing level.  Otherwise, they also have their spa garden with 3 extra jacuzzis as well.

I just stayed there last night and found out they finally upgraded all the televisions to plasmas last week and upgraded the Regency Club as well (can't beat free crab cakes!).

As for their restaurants, you're better off going "off-campus" to Newport or something to find better value.  ie a nothing-special Filet Mignon at The Californian will run about $40 and Fish and Chips at Pete Mallory's will run you like $16...so yeah, unless you have a Hyatt $100 dining cert from a Gold Passport promotion, I'd go elsewhere.

Staff was great, spa had good facilities and mediocre masseurs, food was repetitive over the course of the stay, drinks lacked punch, pool was good. Rooms can be very far from conference events if you are attending a meeting here, so be cautious when checking in where they locate you unless you like to walk a lot. For some reason they moved events for our group around a lot - breakfast in one place one day, and then in a different place another. The spa let the guys keep their lockers for the entire stay so they could use the steam room and saltwater soaking tubs, but the women's side wouldn't let us do the same. Housekeeping was good. I'm convinced all of the drinks we ordered didn't have alcohol even though they were $12 a pop. BYOB is my advice if you want to have cocktails. There's a little grocery on the premises that has a decent selection but they are way overpriced.

This resort is perfect for us.  We spent a week with our three kids.  We love the location - easy access to the beach and boardwalk, a quick drive to Newport Beach, Long Beach and other fun spots.  We love walking up the beach to the pier.

The rooms are very nice.  We were big fans of the refrigerator in the room, rather than a mini bar.  The resort has a number of restaurants and some cute shops - you can get almost anything you need without leaving the premises.  The parking is valet only at $25/night, which is always a drawback for us, but that's the way it goes.  The Hyatt is building a new family pool/water area with water slides, so we are looking forward to coming back.

This place gives you the Ritz treatment for half the price!! Still a pricey place, but well worth every penny!! If you stay here once they give you a bunch of freebies and upgrades towards your next visit. This is without a doubt one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in, outside of Vegas. You have to splurge one of these days, and treat yourself to a stay here. Have a drink in one of the many hottubs overlooking the ocean!! It was actually years ago my wife and I went here, but it was memorable enough to write this review today!!

I stayed here 1 night and was amazed at the grounds.  I've passed by this place dozens of times and had no idea how expansive the property is.  Getting from one side of the hotel to the other could take an old person, i'm guessing, up to 20 minutes!

Our room was located at the far end of the property facing the corner of Beach & PCH.  We had a view of the ocean and, unfortunately, they are currently doing construction of a new pool right below us so we saw dirt & bulldozers.  The room itself was big and the bed was comfy.  The tub/shower was a little small and dated, as was the old TV.

The grounds are AMAZING with water fountains throughout, little gardens and hidden outdoor rooms with fireplaces.

One great feature is the walking bridge that connects the Hyatt directly to the beach.  Very convenient and the hotel is less than a mile from the pier.

Surprise!  I came here for a wedding.  Since it was outdoors, it was hot as Danny DeVito's balls on wedding day.  Too bad for the groomsmen, who were dressed in tuxes.  Too good for girls like me, who were dressed like sluts.

So the wedding happened upon a patio with a view of Huntington Beach in the backyard.  Let's skip to the open bar, which popped the corks at 11:30 (a.m.)  Four glasses of champagne later, me and the two other people I knew (bride and groom) sat down for the reception.  Too bad I wasn't in the wedding party.

So we started off the course with a soup.  I used the loo afterwards, came back to the table, completely forgot what I just ate.  Ok, skip to the end of the meal, which was excellent, I spotted a 7-year-old boy in a hot vest and bow tie.

I couldn't control my urge and asked him to dance.  I thought, Christina, this is a sure-fire bet.  Forget traditional dating rules, forget rejection, you'll have him wrapped around your finger in no time.  NOT.  Boy rejected me after I crouched down, got on my knees and begged for a dance.

Don't worry guys, I'm slowly getting over it.  We've cut off contact.  It'll be hard, but good thing I don't ever have to see him again.  Where are the rebounds when you need 'em?

I saw a bird fly into a sheet of storm/protective glass here. haha

Anyways, long story short on how I ended up here:
I was at Beach front, drinking a bit, and when we decided to leave, my friend was like "lets get a hotel room!" I live in burbank, so driving back seemed like death at this point. The first hotel we find our way into is the 300 bucks a night Hyatt Resort and Spa! (so thats good that its close to the bars on Main st.)

This place is crazy inside!! It like a compound of nice condo's or something. There are at least 4 jacuzzis and a huge pool. (My friends and I decieded at 4am it would be a good idea to go quazi skinny dipping, running around to all the pools of water we could jump over the fence and get it... did we get in trouble?? no!! We were almost trying to, but it never happened) One of the most fun nights I've had in a while. Alright, back to the hotel, well there is a spa and fireplaces everywhere...I got lost trying to find the front of the building it's so giant.

We ordered 300 dollars worth of room service also. Let me tell you, the Cheese burgers are HUGE and super tasty, caesar dressing was bomb...and so is the OJ and Cranberry Juice. Be aware, one little bottle of Absolut was $30 bucks!! Why we ordered 3 of them?? WHO KNOWS??

I would totally stay here again.

I have never stay at this resort and why should I need to since I lived 5mins away.(ha ha)
I have ran into this establishment on numerous occasions.I reserved one of their ocean view rooms for my lil sister and her hushband's 10th year anniversay earlier this year.It was their first stay at this Hyatt in HB and they totally loved everything about it.So I was able to see the Hyatt's rooms for the first time and it was clean and spacious.I did catch a pretty decent angle view of the beach.

My cousin also had his wedding here in one of their main ballrooms. It was very nice and everything was done beautifully and elegantly.I especially like how you can go out to the balcony from the ballroom entrance and catch an awesome view of the ocean. They have it nicely and conveniently set up for the wedding reception. We drove up in the ballroom entrance area which they offer valet parking. Then you walk up the elegant stairways that lead you right to the ballroom area.So not alot of walking was required especially when you know you'll be plastered later and any walk is a long walk.Yelp....that was a good night for all of us..open bar..need I say more!

* Review only for wedding reception held in convention center of hotel.*

My friend and his bride had their wedding reception here. I had a great time. Because this hotel has a seperate convention center section, it was as if we owned the whole place with our party since we didn't have to see other hotel guests mulling around and checking in or anything. We got to valet park our cars and the room they chose was very big and well lit and nicely set up.

The food was also very good, I assume the food was from the hotel and not brought in. From the appies being passed around, my favs were the coconut shrimp with a sweet banana chili sauce and the filet mignon stuffed in a puff pastry thing. The filet pieces were kinda big and it took more than one bite, but it was really good.

The catering staff were all very attentive (full water glass most of the time), alert, and also friendly (no throwing plates at this party). We started with the lobster bisque which was very good, filling, a little salty though but it did have legit chunks of lobster meat which made up for it. The field greens salad with the poached apple and perfect coin sized goat cheese was also very good. No iceberg here. The main course of both fish and steak on a bed of mashed potatoes was also very good, just pretty stuffed by this point.

I didn't even feel like I was in a hotel room for a wedding. The Hyatt, along of course with my friends' skills at planning a great reception, really planned a great, truly memorable time. If you happen to be invited at a hotel here, be stoked, cause you will have fun!

I had my wedding here, and it was just plain perfect.  The grounds were gorgeous, service was amazing, and the food was probably the best food I've ever had at a wedding.  The lobster bisque was creamy and rich, and the filet mignon was cooked medium for everyone - no mooing or leather meat to be seen!

What can I say... I'm a big fan of this places for several reasons.

One - EXCELLENT customer service and sales reps that don't lag on getting back to you. I was really close on booking this place for a work-related event, but it was unavailable on the week we needed it.

Two - You get what you pay for. Came here for a wedding this morning and the Hyatt did an great job with set up, accommodating service and last minute prep work. You also get an amazing view of the beach. Good thing the sun came out!

Three - Food. Can't really expect too much from wedding food, but I did love the hotel restaurant when the sales rep treated me out for the work event. Excellent salads. Today's wedding starter was a bisque... that was a winner!

Four - Open bar. Two bars - one inside and another outside. Bartenders were great.

Five - LOTS of stalls in the women's restroom! No need to wait in line. EXTREMELY clean facilities.

The only thing I'd dock a star would be for the beef dish. It was a bit too dry, but the delicious risotto made up for it.

Hailing from the pacific northwest, I am still blown away by the beauty of an oceanfront view.  Even the smell gets me!  This hotel is really spectacular, as it's very grandiose and classy... lol quite an upgrade from most Huntington Beach fare on Main Street.

They have the entire hotel flanked by balconies that offer awesome views of the beach, nice wide open hallways, and probably the best staff I've seen outside of resorts in Las Vegas.  I went here for a banquet on Friday night and there are a couple instances that impressed me.

1. The wait staff were all extremely polite and professional.  Now, wait staff should of course always be those things, but they remained exceedingly so despite the fact that it was actually a banquet for college students and at no other dinner party would the wait staff have to remain polite and professional while a DJ plays "Yeah" by Usher and disco lights are shining all across the room and drunk 18 and 19 year olds are dancing on the dance floor and making jokes at the podium about who slept with who and how hot their supervisor is!

2. When I asked the bartender how much a double vodka tonic would be, instead he just gave me an extra half shot for free.  Yeah that's the orange county in me.

3. The waitress offered to keep my boyfriend's dinner plate warm while he was away from the table.

I think this place makes for a great company party, that kind of event.  I also saw a nice bride+groom getting their photos taken (only to be interrupted by a boatload of college students hanging out the windows of their shuttle bus yelling "YEAAHHH YOU GONNA GET SOME TONIGHT!!!")

We held a wedding at this hotel.
The rooms are great, views can't be beat.
Service is pretty good. Nice ballrooms.
Charged valet parking was annoying considering there's no real self park options anywhere else. The rooms are also not cheap, but this is a resort.

The staff however, was pretty understanding and let us run rampant throughout the hotel post-wedding, and for that they def. earn a few points.
Their champagne lounge / bar is 50% off during happy hour, bringing bottle champagne prices of Veuve almost down to grocery store prices - this alone earned them a 4th star.

Reason they don't get a 5th star is because like all "4 star" (not yelp stars)  hyatt's/hiltons they nickel and dime you. Everything is an extra charge. Starwood hotels are usually a bit better with this...

Stop #4 and #10 in my tour.

By far the best place I've stayed out of the 9 different locations I visited. My return visit here marked both my 4th and 10th stops on my two month vacation. (Update: 1/27/08 I've since this review returned two more times and loved every second.)

After coming home from a week's trip up north, I make reservations to stay at this resort which I've been meaning to stay at for a while now. I was actually pretty excited to come here as it was local and familiar, but just far enough away to make it feel like a vacation.

I pull up and valet my car and make my way inside. Cozy little lobby with a round entry. The girl who helped me check in was very friendly and had great people skills. After getting my key, I walked through the courtyard, passed the pool, and up the elevators.

I had an ocean front view right over PCH with no obstructions. Large King Deluxe room with balcony. All rooms here have a balcony or patio (1st floor) so I was very happy to have been placed on the 3rd level. If anything at all, I remember the balcony the most. I spent many happy hours sitting there during sunrise, listening to my music and sipping my coffee.

The room is just the right size. The bed is soft but firm enough to get a great night's rest. Sheets are smooth and comforting. Bathroom is clean with marble and granite. Tub is nice with a bowed out shower curtain.

I did some swimming at the pool, a bit of tanning as well. Lots of food, lots of room service. I sampled the Californian, the pizza, and Pete Mallory's room service, Friday night BBQ buffet, and Sunday Brunch.

When it was time to check-out, I requested an extra night and buried myself in my senses. I just didn't want to leave. The next day, I hesitantly check out and head for home. After two days of laundry and searching, I decide to try something new.

http://www.yelp.com/bi...

After that trip, followed by 5 more trips, I return home once again, and find that I am dying to re-visit the Regency, so, I reserve again for 3 nights, coming straight from Los Angeles (yes, I went back to Downtown LA, be quiet).

My second trip here was tremendous. I was checked in 3 hours early with my requested room on the top 4th level this time. 3 hours early! I was almost in tears I was so happy that I could enjoy this resort again. Yes, I do love it that much.

I got to my room, relaxed a bit, then changed and went to tan. It was everything that I was craving for the previous 3 weeks.

Everyday, I got up early to sit on the balcony to enjoy the cool, grey sunrise over the ocean with my music and coffee. Every afternoon, I watched Discovery Channel, snacked on room service, walked around the grounds, and tanned. Every night, I went to the Red Chair Lounge, enjoyed some wine, a cigar, and some fire outside.

Thursday night, a live DJ was spinning lounge music. What a pleasant surprise. I went out, requested some trance, and couldn't stop smiling. ATB spinning in my ears, a private fire pit, a mellow cigar, a pleasant petite syrah, and a cool summer night's breeze at a resort that I've just fallen in love with.

When it was time to check out, I again requested an additional night. I feared that they wouldn't be able to accomodate since they were fully booked, but I spoke with a manager and she gave me an extra night. I was so happy. That last day and night, I felt like I was floating.

I know some people just say this place isn't worth the time, but I guess I got something out of it on a personal level. During this summer, I've been searching for some peace, and I think I found it here.

After checking out, I had a couple of meetings to go to, then head home with the intention of staying home for the first time in two months. I was sad, and as silly as it sounds, on the verge of tears. I didn't want to leave, but also, it was a bit of returning to reality which I just wasn't ready for.

I've been home for 4 days now and am slowly readjusting to normal life. I'm very sad and emotional as I write these reviews, recaping my journey because I feel that I didn't find what I was looking for, and as I think back on my random wanderings, it's almost as though I am back to where I started. To sound dramatic, I'm aching to return to the Regency, but there's only so much time I can spend wandering and wondering and running and avoiding before having to come back down to earth and facing whatever deamons are haunting me.

But one thing is for sure. I will definitely return again before too long.

The Hyatt is WONDERFUL! Pricey but wonderful.

I threw an event here and they worked with me on every single detail. They tweaked anything I didn't like, wanted, or didn't want to have. It was great! They are meticulous in every detail, refer you to anyone imaginable, and they ALSO (very important) pull everything off during the event flawlessly as well.

Party Planner: Great
Crew during the event: Great
Paperwork/fees/payment/detailed stuff: Great

When you drive up, it's already just wonderful. The inside is beautiful. Very grand. Food was REALLY good too. Hotels generally do not have great food, especially for big events but it was REALLY good. Great cheese too! Everyone enjoyed it. The crew was fantastic. Our tray passers were friendly. The hor d'uerves stayed hot. Bartenders were great.

We had the big room with the patio section on the ocean side, next to the bridge that takes us right to the sand. You do not need to cross the street... just walk on the bridge and there you go! Not great walking through PCH anyway with all the crazies. :)

I had an ocean view room which was beautiful. Love the bathroom. Love the balcony. Love the sound of the ocean. Ocean breeze. Complimentary cheese and wine in my fridge. Yumm Yumm Yumm btw. Great tub... bathroom was big so all of my makeup and madness fit wonderfully.

I have nothing bad to say except it's pricey. But man! Do you get your money's worth! They also have cute shops to shop at, a spa, and some restaurants on site as well.

I have deducted one star for price, but this is a great hotel.  The location is awesome, it's right across the street from Huntington and about a mile or so from Main St.

I stayed here recently when visiting family.  I grew up in the area so I know it very well and was happy to be able to stay at the beach in a nice hotel.

If you're from out of town this location is nice if you want to hang out on the water but it's a bit inconvenient to get to major attractions because it is a drive to get to a freeway.  Personally when I'm on a trip in my former stomping grounds it's not an issue and I'd rather stay somewhere nice.

i was here this past saturday, 3/21/09, for a wedding and this review is for the service staff working the reception.  if you or any of the management are reading this you guys really need to get your act together.  i am going to sum up the low lights of your service followed by  a lengthy letter to corporate as well as the general manager of the hotel.

technically you get ZERO stars.  why?  lets see...

1 -  the staff is unfriendly.  especially the rolly polly guy with the mustache standing behind me.  btw, i was sitting on table 5 by the door and i can hear all of your comments.
2 - the staff is not properly trained for a wedding reception.  do you really need to slam the course on the table?  i realize you have your plates full and you need to serve the 300+ guests but you don't need to slam the courses down.  you did this with the soup, main and dessert course.
3 - you cleared all the wine glasses off our table without asking if we wanted any.
4 - i asked for a glass of wine 3 times and got a glass of 2009 huntington beach air
5 -  the comments you made about "all there is at this weddings are drunks"  was unprofessional.  really?  this is a wedding you know?  did you think this was going to be a dry wedding with all the alcohol that was pre-ordered?  it would be like me going to a porno shoot and saying man there is a lot f@cking going on here.  way to state the obvious.  A+ to you for being so intuitive.  we all know that there are always going to be drunks at every wedding but it is necessary for the staff to comment on it so loudly.
6 - the attitude was just uncalled for.  i got the sense that you just didn't like your job or felt it was beneath you to work this reception for whatever reason.  during this economy, you should be thankful that you have a job and that someone was stupid enough to spend that much money at your hotel for a sub-par wedding.

bottomline...drop the attitude and do your work with a smile!

This place is indeed HUGE. Right by the beach, it's a great place for weddings or mitzvahs (the later being the reason I was working at this hotel).

Easy access to the ballrooms from the loading docks (which, are huge themselves) is a huge plus when loading in lots of large and heavy equipment. Their bartenders and catering staff were attentive to guests, and their management was attentive to our crews needs.

The rooms were really nice (especially with the ocean view) and the on-site restaurants and shops (with all your beach picnic needs) are a real plus.

My friend had her wedding here and it was a beautiful outdoor location overlooking Huntington Beach.  The staff were super accommodating and the entire hotel was just lovely.  They even have some outdoor shops when you walk around the place... I'd definitely come here again - it's really hard to go wrong with a Hyatt!
