The Hyatt Regency had everything that I wanted as a business traveler. Oh, who are we kidding...I was out in this part of Denver on what could loosely be called "business". Yes, it was for work. I was having to attend the Great American Beer Festival conveniently located right across the street at the Downtown convention center.
Thinking back, the best selling point of this place was exactly that: the location. Walking back and forth across the street to the convention couldn't have been any easier. Taking a stroll to the local restaurants and Coors Field was no more than about a 15 minute walk, although a free transit ride down some of the city streets is an option as well.
Just floors away from our cozy, clean room were a hot tub and a gym...and of course one of the coolest bars with possibly the best view in all of Denver. In the downstairs lobby there was a nice restaurant on one side, and another restaurant/bar with good drinks and nice flat-screen televisions.
The group I was with complained that the massages they scheduled did not disclose that they had to go about ten blocks from the hotel itself; I am not sure what the situation was there, since I opted to sit in the bar and have a Sunday morning Bloody Mary instead. It sounds like I picked the better plan to start that day!
The Hyatt Regency is a really good hotel for people that need a central location in downtown Denver. Many of the major downtown locations can be accessed from the hotel by foot. These locations include the Convention Center, Performing Arts complex, 16th Street Mall, Civic Center, the Museum complex and Larimer Square. Shopping of all kinds and dinner at different restaurants can also be had from the hotel.
If you do need to use a car, parking in their below ground lot is less than twenty dollars a day. Over a couple of days, I found that driving around in Denver is really easy compared to other large cities. Though a lot of stuff is located in downtown, there is so much more in Denver to explore.
As for the hotel, it seems like all Hyatt Regencies are the same. The consistencies of H.R.s that I have experienced include: great customer service, a great gym and indoor pool and a comfortable bed.
If you decide to stay at the Denver Hyatt Regency, you'll get a great jump off point for food, recreation and a great place to rest your head when you make it back to your room.
Just got back from a four day trip to Denver, CO and stayed at the Hyatt Regency for the entire visit.
1. $100 a night.
2. Location: just a block from the 16th street mall-- really, this was a key central location to basically anywhere you'd like to go in Denver.
3. Cleanliness: maid service changed our sheets even when we didn't request it (with water/$$ conservation, they usually only change them when you request it). Items on the counter in the bathroom were placed nicely on a towel during the room cleaning.
4. Service: On my last night at the hotel, we got back to our room around midnight. Upon discovering a need for emergency female toiletries, I called down to the front desk to see if the Walgreen around the corner was open 24 hours. They had what I needed in supply and offered to have someone send it up, complimentary. To me this is not a common thing at hotels (especially after hours). The woman at the desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. Serious kudos for the people who work late night at this hotel.
Note about the parking: We agreed that the hotel parking garage is a little expensive here-- it's the same price as the public parking lot across the street (for 24 hours), however, the hotel allows you in and out access using your room key no matter what time of day. The public parking lot doesn't allow in and out parking.
What a beautiful view. I was literally on the 26th floor next to the lounge. It was worth every penny, you could see view of denver from top floor. The rooms are clean, nice bathroom, nice customer service. The only problem is that it is downtown, and you would have pay for parking, which is about 26 dollars a night. Or park on the street for free.
This is a high rise motel. There not a thing special about this place.
Hyatt Regency is a box, a bed, and a bathroom.
Oh yeah and the window opens!
I am probably disqualified from writing a review of the Hyatt Regency in Denver based on my annual income, but they didn't kick me out (immediately) for being white trash, so I'll give it a shot.
The hotel is very new and has a number of great amenities. The pool and workout facilities looked really nice, but I don't exercise on vacation because I'm always too hungover and appearances can be deceiving, so take that for what it's worth. The location is exceptional, and I can't imagine wanting to do something that's in downtown Denver that's not a quick walk or drive away. I didn't stay here for a convention, but the Hyatt is so close to the convention center that if your room was on the correct side of the building, you might not have to leave your room to see some of the presentations.
Just like that crazy girl that we all dated in college, there are some negatives here that cannot be ignored. Parking is $24-$28 per day depending on whether or not you want to fetch your own damn car. I realize that they charge this much because they can, but it certainly made me think twice about whether or not to stay here again.
I thought this hotel was very nice. The rooms were really clean, and updated. They had iPod docks, flat screen TV's, lounge area, coffee makers with Starbucks coffee. Location was AWESOME too! 1 block from the 16th Street Mall.
It had a nice fitness center and outdoor hot tub. There is even a spa, I didn't take part, but the prices were average, around $100 for a 1-hr massage.
Only downside was that the Parking was pretty expensive, and there was a public parking across the street that wasn't much better.
One note on the rooms here ...
Actually, a note on the *only* full-length mirror in your room. It's one of those that is somewhat warped so that you look short and squat. And, ladies, you'll feel me - this is NOT the image you want staring back at you before you walk out the door!

So I'm in town for a Forensics Conference . . . ALL week long! Blahhh ... I hate dropping out of my… Read more »
I had a busniess trip in Denver and stayed at the hotel. This is a key location you can go anywhere in Denver. The room I stayed in was clean and spacious the outdoor hot tub is a great addition. I would stay here again if I ever needed to do busniess here.
Stayed here twice, and both times were great.
Got the room for $60 a night through priceline.
Great location right downtown 1 block from 16th street.
Avoid the $6 in the room, but there is comp coffee and tea in the room.
Clean, classy, and Convenient. I will stay here again when I come back to Denver.
Stayed for an evening. Great location near 16th Street Mall, ballpark and transit lines. The front desk was able upgraded our room to allow us to check in earlier without extra cost. Room was spacious, clean. Loved the outdoor hot tub. Sauna was temporarily out of service but things happen. Great information at the concierge, Chris, helped us track down an restaurant that served white fish. Would stay there again.
super clean
friendly & helpful staff
comfy beds
great bar called Peak with a nice view of the city
perfectly, centrally located
across the street from the convention center
pricing is very good for what you get
I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Denver for a week. Very convenient, literally right across the street from the convention center. I was on the 26th floor, and I could see the convention center (with that blue bear staring into the building), and Coors Field, and the Pepsi Center.
The rooms are standard Hyatt Regency - very nice. Caters well to the business traveler. Very comfortable beds, room to hang suits and other clothes in the closet, and a safe with space for a laptop. It has high speed access, wired / wireless (though I still hate the high per day charges).
Here's a little tip if you're staying at a Hyatt and need wifi access: Hyatt hotels are t-mobile hotspots so if you are a t-mobile customer, you can temporarily add t-mobile hotspot service to your account. You can then use it to access wireless in the hotel. After you are done, you can call t-mobile back, and remove the service. They will prorate the cost, which runs something like $20/month. So for my stay, wireless cost me about $5 for the week, as opposed to the almost $100 it would have cost me from the hotel!
Anyway, as to the remainder of the hotel, the Strata bar downstairs has large screen TVs and plenty of space. The elevator is a bit freaky, like Adrienne P. mentions. The screens show different scenes and the sounds are pumped into the elevator. The one with lots of people talking was definitely weird, especially having just left the bar - it sounded like it was just on the other side of the elevator wall.
Good room, good service, very convenient to the convention center, 16th street and LoDo areas. Only real issue is the cost, but given it's location, it is the price you pay.
Last week I was in Denver for business, and I stayed here again.
Conveniently located next to the convention center. And very business-friendly.
Customer service was outstanding. From the moment I checked in until I checked out two days later, the staff was beyond accommodating.
I actually felt that they were sincere each time they asked if there was anything else they could do for me. They worked hard.
Room service was excellent.
Special shout-outs to the ones who answered the phones.
They charged for their internet, but it's okay, the company was paying.
This hotel is amazing. The room was huge, and beautiful with an incredible view of the mountains. The customer service is wonderful. They checked me in quickly and my room was ready well before check-in time. The bedding at Hyatt hotels is WONDERFUL too.
They have excellent room service and great water pressure (one of my weird obsessions). They are also within walking distance of some great shopping areas. The only downside is how expensive it is to get to the Denver Airport from Denver -- $45?!?!
I stayed at the HR this weekend, and organized a small corporate party there for Saturday night. Overall, it was fine. It's a beautiful new facility, and the location is ideal. The downstairs lobby bar is a fantastic spot to meet someone for a drink (good people-watching). And the gym (5th level) is to die for: Fantastic views, lots of good machines, helpful staff, and chilled towels :-)
Maybe not important, but nice anyhow: Our parking valets were the friendliest I've ever met.
The sleeping rooms have a modern design and are A-OK. The conference rooms are sharp, nicely appointed and with good lighting. Their catering group did a respectable job making sure our event happened as expected. (I've attended conferences there before, and all went smoothly.) This is still a big hotel, with lots of elevators etc., so not a romantic getaway kind of thing. But if you like city life, its proximity to the 16th St Mall shuttles, art museums, LoDo etc. is fantastic.
great location! service is as you would expect from a Hyatt. There's a bar on the 28th floor with great views of the mountains. Nothing to complain about.
AWESOME, PHENOMENAL customer service here! I never felt so welcomed at a hotel before. This past week, I attended the ACRP Conference and this was the hotel that I stayed in. It's literally across the street from the Convention Center. We even had dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp, which was right across the street. I was upgraded to a kick butt suite. I felt like a queen! Room service was excellent. The front desk was beyond attentive. I called to get my I Home fixed and the maintenance guy arrived less than 5 minutes later. Problem solved! The cafe proudly serves Starbucks coffee. Woo hoo. From start to finish, this hotel was wonderful. At the end, they helped us into the rental car and even provided directions to the nearest gas station. I highly recommend staying here and would gladly come again! GREAT JOB! Keep it up!;-)
What a great hotel. Before we lived downtown we would stay here when we wanted to spend the night in the city. Fantastic rooms with stunning views.
BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE PEAKS LOUNGE!!! It is up on.... the 28th floor? Something like that. Either way, a killer view at night and some interesting, albeit expensive, cocktails.
Pros: Fancy hotel in a great location!
Cons: Snooty front desk people, food was overpriced and underdelivered, inattentive servers, pool was closed because of some idiot who dropped glass in the pool.
Overall: not impressed.
This hotel is in a pretty good location, right next to the convention center and a block or so away from the free bus that goes down 16th street mall.
Why this hotel was a good deal: first, I'd like to thank William Shatner and the Priceline negotiator. We got a deal that was better than employee discount, so that was good to know. The rooms are normal, but the views are nice if you're high up.
The only down things, no free internet, well I guess not many hotels would offer free wi-fi, but I thought maybe since this hotel is close to the convention center alot of business people would appreciate the free internet and the hotel would offer it. Alas, I was wrong and most likely the hotel wants to capitalize on these people paying for internet? Whatever, 9.99 for 24hr period isn't too bad. Also the other thing I didn't like, despite the hotels claims to be earth friendly and that they wouldn't change your towels if you want to help save the earth, the maid still changed our towels. -_-
Oh well... for that price and the convenient location, can't complain.
I have stayed in this hotel twice now - and I believe it is one of the best Hyatt's I have ever been to.
The first time I was here it was November 2006 and I got a lovely room way up top and overlooking the giant bear in front of the convention center (which is across the street). Service and food throughout were good. I ate at Altitudes, Perks and had room service - I also was given help and advice when a ginormous snow storm set in.
The second time I stayed here was last week for 4 days for a conference being held in the convention center. This is THE closest hotel to the convention center but not the cheapest in this downtown area. They have a great lobby area and wide, open entrance area.
Peaks Bar has very slow service. Beds and bathroom amenities are not bad.
I have 2 reasons it will not receive 5 stars:
1)The upper floor suites do not have real beds, rather they have Murphy beds in the area next to the nice big table - if you are going to have big 'ol suites but a real bed in it.
2) for the love of God, free wifi would make this place SOOOO much better
Moderately pricey as hotels go, but you get what you pay for. Which explains why the free WiFi didn't work. Boo.
Close enough to hit everything in the area without having to rent a car, which is great if you prefer to rely on mass transit. Good views from the room made for an extra nice treat. Otherwise, typical hotel fare; flat screen TVs with standard definition programming, comfortable bed, uncomfortable chair, and expensive cashews.
Weight room/gym is quite nice - it's definitely not an afterthought like most hotel gyms seem to be.
I'd definitely stay here again!
When my gf said we were staying here I thought it was going to be way over my budget. But it was actually very reasonably priced considering it is right in downtown Denver a block away from the Mall Shuttle, across the street from the Convention Center, and near a lot of shops and restaurants.
You can check in/out using the kiosks at the front desk (kinda like the ones at the airport). At the lobby, there's a Starbucks and a FedEx kinko's. They also have one of the nicest gyms I've ever seen at a hotel, with an outdoor hot tub, lap pool, and sauna.
Finally, on the 27th floor, the restaurant/bar has an amazing view of the mountains, Downtown Denver, Coors Stadium...etc. AND THEY RECYCLE!!!! You will be happy to find blue recycling bins in your room :)
Just came back from a convention and stay at the Hyatt Regency. This hotel was GREAT!
It is conveniently close to the 16th Street Mall and Larimer Square. If you don't feel like venturing out far, there is a coffee shop downstairs and nice restaurants right in the hotel.
The gym is well-equipped and supplies you with water & towels. The rooms are comfortable (they gave me 9 pillows!) and quiet. The service (everything from front desk to housekeeping) is ultra friendly and helpful.
Prepare yourself for some ear-popping if your room is higher than the 22nd floor - the elevators move fast! Oh, and they have plasma screens in the elevators with random scenery playing on them. It startled me at first because at the time, there was a flowing stream on the screen and I was confused about where the rushing water sound was coming from! Someone thought that there were cameras behind the screens. I think that they were just cool.
Definitely consider this hotel for your next stay in Denver. I was impressed.
I always stay at Hyatt's Hotels when I travel for work. When you're traveling and you have nearly 450k miles a year under your belt, these hotels really know how to take care of you.
They're always clean, bed is comfortable, staff is great if you need something.
They are a bit pricey, but thats the price you pay for a good hotel room.
As far as Hyatt's go this place is top notch. The hotel is very new and has all the modern amenities. The rooms are spacious and include internet access (for 9.99 / day). The fitness center is among the best i've seen and includes treadmills, free weights (up to 50 lbs dumb bells), and various machines - best of all its open 24 hours a day.
Couple other things to note, this place is across the street from the convention center - which makes it very convenient if you're attending a convention. They deliver complimentary USA Today's, but oddly don't do turn down service in the rooms.
The Denver Grand Hyatt is in the perfect location for conventioneers, business persons and visitors to the city as well. Not to be confused with the Grand Hyatt down the street, this new addition to the Denver skyline is a complete destination for entertainers and heads of State to you and your family.
Complete with a fitness center, pool, tennis court and more the hotel also hosts a 24-hour FedEx/Kinkos as well as the Altitude Restaurant and the Strata Lounge for a late night drink.
We live in Parker, Colorado but were staying at the Hyatt for our bachelor/bachelorette party in the city. Check-in was quick and easy, however note that any visits planned in the months following this review will be impacted by the remodel of their main front entrance. Although a little complicate to figure out, the staff was great in leading us in the right direction. On par with most other downtown hotels, self-park is $21 per night and valet is $25. Not a deal, but convenient.
The rooms follow your standard layout, however the bathroom was rather small for my fiance and I both getting ready for the evening and the usual morning routine. That said the views from the 20th floor were great and be sure to request a high room for gorgeous views of the Denver metro area.
All in all the hotel stay met our expectations and we will be sure to check rates for this hotel again if we need a night out on the town.
This is a great hotel located right in the middle of the city, very convenient location for almost anything you want to do in Denver. When it open two years ago I went on a tour of the hotel and did a lot of research on the hotel for a project I was designing next to the hotel. The main lobby is very grand with extremely high ceilings that go up to, I think, the 2nd or 3rd floor where the ball room for conventions and events are.
The rooms are very nice with marble countertops in the suites and flat screen televisions. Uniquely designed, each room has a pretty good view of the city. If you want to see even a greater view, I think on the 26th floor there is a bar/lounge that over looks the north side of the building to see downtown Denver and the rest of the city, it's a spectacular view, I recommend going up there at least one to check out the view and to grab a quick drink.
HUGE new hotel right across the street from the Convention Centre, so perfect if you're in town for that.
I had a room on the 34th floor and it was very comfy- king size bed with nice linens, fluffy pillows, purrrfect.
Here are some of the amenities-
large flat screen TV that swiveled, Ipod clock radio, Aveda bath products, modern bathroom (although water kept getting all over the place from the shower), 24 hours Perks Cafe if you need a jolt of caffeine at 4AM, large gym (it was always crowded, though), and on the 27th floor they have Peaks Lounge where you can enjoy small bites and cocktails with a stunning view of downtown Denver.
Highly recommended if you're looking for a hotel for business and want a little extra comfort.
I wasn't too impressed. For the price, it's nothing special. I stayed here during a convention, and while the rooms were average in terms of size and amenities, everyone I talked to had severe temperature issues. My room was so hot that even turning down the thermostat to 60 and opening the window didn't help.
The positives: the workout facility is nice, and the view from Peaks restaurant is to die for. The employees are extremely helpful and friendly. The location is perfect if you need to travel to Denver for any reason.
The negatives: The temperature issues, the soft bed, the crisy towels, and the lack of insulation in the walls (I could hear at least three different alarm clocks every morning) Plus, on my last day, I went to unplug my cell phone from the jack in the wall and noticed about 1/2 inch of dust in the corner. While I can certainly live with a little dust, it seemed surprising considering this hotel is so new.
The ambiance of this place is great, the rooms are bit ordinary. They have flat screen TVs and are nicely done, but they are kind of average size with average bathrooms, for a Hyatt.
The Grand Hyatt down the street has nicer rooms.
The Peaks bar is awesome, stunning views.. the lobby is also really nice to just sit and hang out in. The lobby eatery, Altitude, is solid for all meals, with nice decor and good service.
The gym is very nice, spacious, towels, water, and TVs built into the cardio equipment (treadmills & bikes).
I've been to many Hyatt's, this one is great for downtown Denver, location, across the street from the convention center, but it's not a "resort" Hyatt, just a nice Hyatt with location and a nice upscale feel.
The other Hyatt is a bit nicer overall, but mostly I say that for the size of the rooms.
I had to give this place a 5 star! from check-in thro check-out everything was excellent. The food in the restaurant had many veggie options (or they went out of the way to make something the way I wanted). Great location. I had excellent views from my room on the 33rd floor.
Fairly new and looks it. Close to restaurants. Great staff, great workout room. Hyatt was one highlight in a travel that was airport pain in the neck. I had to carry heavy gear, lots, twice in one day, delay made me come home at 3am!
This one guy speaks his soft voice, or they all do? It's kind of neat, he didn't blink an eye when I started to mock him, cool.
He started looking for rooms with a mountain view and the snow came in that night and it was a wonderful white scene. Nice lobby. Time to sleep.
It is clean and only two years old and the location is rather prime. The health facilities are rather posh, sporting a two-lane lap pool and an outdoor hot tub. They seem to discourage eating in your room as evidenced by the lack of silverware, microwave, cups, plates, etc. However, you have a fridge and table, joy! All in all, it's a nice hotel. with gorgeous foods at their various eateries on different floors.
The cons? Some of the usual perks of staying in a hotel are not included in the cost of your stay, i.e. you pay for parking ($10/day) and you pay a daily rate for Internet usage. Also a con? The overly-priced restaurant on the bottom floor where entrees cost approximately $30 a plate and taste like first-class airplane food.
A clean comfortable ambience and friendly staff in a great location. The Peaks Bar offers a beautiful view of the city, the late night coffee shop was a nice touch, and the decor throughout was comfortable and sheik.
The rooms were a bit ordinary, there were no surprises but they had everything you need and a comfy bed with a pile of pillows.
I recently stayed at this Hyatt for a week. I was there for a work meeting that was right across the street in the convention center. When you are working 14 hour days, there is nothing like the convenience of just having to walk across the street to get to work.
This Hyatt, is well, Hyatt. It's pretty brand spanking new, which is always a plus. The rooms are hotel rooms - though I will admit that I was very pleased with the iHome alarm clocks. I could listen to my iPod and charge it - great perk! I also liked the fact that they had two sets of elevators - one for high floors and one for lower floors.
The customer service was great. The room service food was kinda bad - but what room service food isn't?
For people who travel for work, the best perk for me was that the fitness center was FREE! I don't travel that often for work, but I think this is the first time I haven't had to pay for the gym. It's hard enough to get the motivation to work out when you're away from home, but when they make you pay to do it too...geesh. But not at this Hyatt.
It's a nice convention hotel - but remember, my review is also biased cause I didn't foot the bill!
So I'm in Denver for work and of course, the Yelp addict that I am, now must review this place.
The hotel is brand spankin' new built December, 2005. It does have an air of unfinishedness about it, but overall, I like the wide open feel of it and the earthy, neutral tones the rooms and lobby all seem to be done in. I'm also enjoying my Samsung flat screen TV and measuring it to see how I can fit it into my carry-on--steathlike! I've since abandoned that plan--I'm easily derailed--and am now fixated on the odeous smoke smell that has apparently permeated my non-smoking room through the vent. I didn't even notice at first until my nasally perceptive friend Fatemeh walks into my room and says, "When'd you start smoking?" I take a big whiff, and there it was--the pungent smell of stale cigarette smoke--for a moment, I thought I was at the Cal-Neva in Reno. So I call housekeeping and say that I don't mind the cigarette smoke so much but might get a bit agitated at the $250 charge that they might tack onto my bill for smoking in my non-smoking room (that's the hotel policy spelled out on a neat little sign--the Hyatt is known for neat little signs that make it seem like they're just being a tiny bit Big Brother on you) and I was just warning them that a) I don't smoke, never have because I'm, umm, SMART and b) I will definitely get street on anyone who even THINKS about charging me the $250.
That was apparently enough to send the Assistant Manager and Security up to my room to do a smell test and check the validity of my story. They inhaled, and upon entry were immediately very apologetic. To make up for it, I got a nice platter of cheese, nuts and fruit for my mid-afternoon snack accompanied by another very contrite note.
Clearly, it does not take much to please me as I realize that squirrels snack on the very same thing (sans the cheese, smart asses) that sent me writing this 5-star review.
The nicest hotel I have stayed at in Denver. Amazing customer service from the time you first walk in the door. They now have free wired-Internet in the rooms. Loved the self check-in kiosks. Great rooms with flat screen TV's and modern furnishings. Great location in downtown...next to light-rail, convention center, 16th Street Mall, etc.
The first time I booked my room at the Hyatt Regency, I thought to myself that this would be one of those hotels that look great in pictures but say otherwise when you get there. If a hotel can ever be breathtaking, this is definitely it! I have stayed at this hotel numerous times. Even ordered room service and checked out the restaurants downstairs and around. From the moment of check-in to staying there, this is the place to be! The front desk and concierge service are top notch. They will treat you like royalty. First time that I stayed here was also the first time I traveled by myself and to be addressed by Mr. so and so tickled me. The lobby is inviting and even the food at the downstairs shop isn't too bad. After a night around town, I was starving. I got a salad, a sandwich, drinks and a candy bar for $18. Yes, that is a little expensive but if you saw this hotel, I'm sure the operating costs outweigh this by a mile and some change. The rooms are cozy. The beds are just right. I can't give enough praise to this hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to see a slice of Denver. The hotel is a quick walk down the road to the convention center as well as 16th street mall. Coors Field is less than a five minute drive which would also put you in the heart of some great restaurants and clubs. This is the place I highly recommend. From the Peak's Lounge to the shop downstairs and the excellent valet service, the Hyatt Regency has raised the bar! If I had time, I would stay here for a little over a week so I could enjoy the other amenities at the hotel. Only downside is the internet costs per day so if you have a PDA-phone and a notebook/laptop you're bringing, best to tether it to get internet or find open wi-fi elsewhere. What else can I say? This is as great as it gets!
