This Hyatt is nice, sleek and modern-looking. The location is great because  you are walking distance from a fair amount of sites, shopping and eating. The hotel also has it's own restaurants and bar. My favorite part about my stay was the view at night from the rooms. Downtown's landscape glimmers nicely in the night.

I'm not sure if it's the case all the time, but it was pretty damn hot and humid inside the hotel--outside of my room. If you're working, the room is not really conducive to such activity at the desk--as there is no electrical outlets by it. The irons are remarkably sucktastic. I know they probably cut corners here to install the hovering, silver, art sculpture in the lobby--but come on, irons aren't that expensive!

Overall, it was a pleasurable stay.

This was the single-worst hotel experience I've had.  I had a room that had been booked and paid for in advance by the federal government.  My original flight was cancelled and my second one delayed, so when I arrived at the hotel at 1 AM, all I wanted was my bed!  Turns out the hotel had overbooked that night.  Not only could they not give me a room with a bed, but the nearest hotel they could re-book me to was 40 miles away.  I ended up in a room with no bed and no bathroom.  I got a toilet and a sink and was told I could take the elevator down to the main lobby, walk across the lobby, and shower in the fitness center.  They brought in a foldaway cot with no blankets (they did bring them when I called).  The theromstat couldn't be changed, so it was freezing.  And because it was more of a meeting room, the blinds couldn't be closed so the downtown lights streamed in all night.  While I (the government) wasn't charged, it seems ridiculous that a room that is paid for would be given to someone else.  As a condolence, they offered me a free buffet breakfast and told me they would send me a certificate to stay another night.   The certificate was never sent to me.

A whirlwind trip to KC happened this past weekend, one which landed us (thanks to hotwire) at the Hyatt Crown Center. I was SO excited. Yay! Fancy hotel! We pulled up after our 9+ hour drive, dragged ourselves out of the car and into the lobby, and then looked around...

...Hotwire doesn't tell you when Anime conventions are taking place at the hotel you've booked. Those folks are in a category of their own.

It was wildly entertaining to watch all the people wander around in their anime haze right up until we discovered they had absolutely no respect for all the other normal folks staying at the Hyatt. Sleep is good. Quiet hallways and elevators are good, especially when you have a toddler.

We were upgraded twice. Two times. The front desk folks were so accommodating. We honestly landed on the top floor of the hotel (rotating restaurant notwithstanding) - the north wall was all windows, overlooking downtown KC. Insanely gorgeous. Our suite had a doorbell. And a bidet.

Dude. Bidet.

I have never experienced such over the top customer service at a hotel. Next time we visit Kansas City, we'll definitely stay there again, presuming there aren't a bunch of teenagers dressed up as cartoon characters leaping around the hotel.

Also, random remark: the soaps, lotions, and hair products were scented with white ginger and honestly, I wanted to hoard all of it. Super nice.

Stayed here 2 nights for work - beautiful building.  Minka (?) at the Reception desk was so accomdating and nice.  I had a room on the 36th floor with a great view.

The workout room was nice, but the BEST part was the rooftop, heated pool that is open all times except when 20 degrees or colder below.  If I'd known about it I would've brought my suit!  That alone would make me stay again!  :)

Also got take-out a couple nights at "Spectators" (a sports bar in the hotel) and the bartenders were really nice, and food was pretty good... except the chili... NOT so good.

Great hotel, would deifnitely recommend!

PS - one other negative - besides the chili - is that the housekeeper didn't restock the shampoo/conditioner/soap so I had to go get some the second day...  just a little annoying when in a rush.

Nicely located by the shopping mall, I'd say this hotel is a good choice for Kansas City. We were in a group of 8 people and it was very convenient for us to go to the mall and grab something to eat.

During our stay, the weather was unfriendly. So, we used mainly the "Link" to and from the hotel.

As for the hotel, the rooms were cozy and of an adequate size. The bathroom was also clean, which is something important to me. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. They'd follow up with any requests we had. Parking was reasonable priced.

Overall, we all enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Regency.

When in town, check the "Fiorela's Jack Stack"  and "Oaklahoma Joe's" (informal environment) for some good BBQ.

Hyatt Regency at Crown Center is easily in the top 5 hotels in Kansas City-- no questions. Is it the best? Probably not, but it's a good property.

Professional service at the front desk-- even after midnight.

Lobby is very nice. It is expansive and almost overwhelming, but in a good way. Wifi is free in the lobby which is OK because there are plenty of places to take advantage of it over the 2 levels. Check out the massive Nevelson sculpture while you're there. How many chain hotels have large pieces by world-renown artists in the lobby? In the Midwest?

Rooms are huge. No idea if most rooms are the same size, but it was spacious. Blue carpeting wasn't the best choice for carpeting, but overall the rooms are nicely decorated. Seems very geared towards business/convention business as the room has a large desk area. Bathroom is a definite selling point. Looks like they've been recently remodeled-- are also huge-- and are well stocked and furnished. Windows could be a bit larger, but that's the only real complaint about the room itself.

Nice property in the city with easy access to everywhere in the metro.

nice place...everything was well done and the staff was great...the bar was way overpriced, but thats my only complaint. Great view of downton KC!
One side note...the mall next to the hotel closes at 6pm.  We walked over to get a bite to eat and the only thing open was a liquor store.  The girl there told us it's a unique set up at the mall, very "high end" and the "older people" that shop there only shop during the day.
I think there might be a crime problem after dark, but just a guess?

Elegance on the prairie.

This 42-story tower, topped by the famous Skies rotating restaurant, was a pleasure to stay in.  Trains rolling by gave just the faintest rumble in the room, but were inaudible in other parts of the hotel.  A four-story atrium, spacious conference rooms on the mezzanine and ballroom levels overlooking the lobby, a convenience store, and several dining options made this a completely self-contained venue for a conference.  I didn't try the spa or the heated swimming pool, but it was fun to watch the steam rising off the pool in the winter air, with snow on the walks around it.

A covered walkway called "The Link" connected the Hyatt with the Crown Center mall, the Westin, Union Station, and nearby offices, so we could meander over a four-block area without suffering the 20-30 deg F outside temperatures.

The staff was courteous, eager to please, and security-conscious.  In-room Internet was an extra $10/day.

After Topeka, this was a trip to Heaven.

Yes, Mr Ian.

Right away, Mr Ian.

You're welcome, Mr Ian.

For fewer dollars than the last place, this has modern clean furnishings, bellmen, valets, attentive polite staff, real down pillows and comforters, fast internet, and generally nice and upscale amenities.

No attitude problems.  No crap.  How refreshing.

If all the hotels I have to stay in were as nice as this place, I might not hate to travel.

The room was comfortable and parking is safe.  Concierge was very nice and informative, when they were around.  Someone had sent me flowers, and they had kept them hidden until after I checked it.  They then brought them to my room with a bottle of wine for me to enjoy. Skies restaurant was adorable.
