I stayed at the Hyatt-Cincinnati recently  on a group trip for a football game.  There were six of us and we had reserved the large suite on the 14th floor.  All things considered, our stay at the Hyatt was very enjoyable and exceeded expectations.

The hotel is quite upscale and very clean.  All employees that we encountered were very courteous and helpful in giving directions and recommendations, particularly to a bunch of drunk buffoons.  Parking was pretty easy; there is a valet option or a garage to self park which is accessed by an indoor walkway.

The suite itself was money, in more ways than one ($329 a night).  There was a great sized living room, plenty big for group dance parties after a full day of tailgating.  There was a full size fridge, 3 bathrooms, 4 beds, and each room had an iHome to provide tunes for said dance parties.  Oddly enough, the room had no microwave.  Also quite odd was that each room had a dated CRT TV, not some chic flat-screen deal that I've seen in most modern hotels.  Even still, it was worth the money, particularly with it being walking distance to the Bungles stadium.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple times before and have never been disappointed!

This memorial day weekend was an exceptional example of how great they can be!

The staff here really does have an amazing attitude!  When I checked in I asked for a fridge to be delivered to my room, shortly there after an older women comes rolling up to my room with a fridge and a microwave (she said I thought you might like a microwave too) she reluctantly let me help her get them in the room she was cheery talkative and just looking to please!  when I tipped here 5 bucks she almost fell over...  Then next day as I was returning to my room (I rarely get my rooms cleaned (too paranoid))  the cleaning lady stopped me before I could enter the room and asked if I would like here to tidy up real quick or if I needed anything, when I asked her for a coupe towels and mentioned I would not need my room cleaned while I was staying she was so gracious and gave me extra everything even a roll of toilet paper (just in case)...  This sincere hospitality is more of an exception then a rule, I travel quite a bit for my job and although most places will give you an extra towel or fridge if you ask its the positivity and attitude that really separate the decent from the good or the good from the great and this place was spectacular!

I did not give it 5 stars because with a lack of flat screen tvs and well tuned channels to watch and a smallish gym there were some things that could be better but most hotels I stay at deserve 2 or 3 stars this was a 4 star delight!

I arrived from the airport early in the morning (9 am) and stopped at the front desk to see if I could leave my bag. Ben was working and he was very friendly and helpful. My room was not ready, but he offered to take my bag and checked my in.

I returned after 2 hours and went to see if it was ready. It was not, but he put me in 1902 - a nice corner room, and I appreciated getting in early before lunch. Great customer service from Ben, and the valet guys were GREAT.

However, the carpet in the main lobby is being replaced and it was a mess. Nothing on the web site about that. Good thing they are replacing it, but the place is VERY dated and in need of a good make-over.

YIKES!! A few notes I made about what REALLY BOTHERS me about this property: Its OLD, no Regency Club (yeah, I got breakfast coupons but I like grabbing a juice, bagel, the paper and getting the day started in addition to grabbing some waters), crummy desk chair, a lamp that rattles on the desk as I type (and is so old I can tighten), HORRIBLE TV (no flat screen), and OLD wall paper that is peeling and has red marks on it, and there is NO digital thermostat - looks like a 1950s Holiday Inn (although a Holiday Inn may be more up to date).

Fitness center is ok for cardio - 3 treadmills, 3 ellipticals, 3 bikes........but that is it. No free weights or weight machines. And its small.....not Hyatt style.

Lobby is also strange tonight, they tore out all the carpet, put down 1 swath, but didn't vacuum it, it looks disgusting.

The room is pretty good size but very dated. Bathroom is ok, low level of lights.

Bad experience with breakfast. As mentioned there is no Regency Club so I went to their restaurant on the second floor. We were seated right away, and told the buffet included cooked to order pancakes, omlets, waffles. I ordered the waffles and we walked up to the buffet. It had a decent selection, but after getting back to the table the eggs were cold. Waitress said my "pancakes" would be up soon....but it took so long I had to leave for the airport.

I would not return to this property, and I am pretty sure the Westin down the street is in better shape.

Total - $159.00 per night***

***WAY TOO MUCH, $99 would be in the ball park.

I stayed here while on business for one night, and that was one night too many. The only reason I booked it is because we got an affordable group rate of $109 a night.

This hotel is OLD! Not as old as in charming and having character, but old as in desperately needs renovation. The worst part was that my non-smoking room on the 17th floor absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. Others I know had the same experience in their nonsmoking rooms. The bed sheets felt plastic-like (ew) and the TV was old and fairly far away from the bed. The room was this triangle-shape, and for some reason included a kitchen-like sink right next to the bed. Very weird. The furniture, carpeting, and closet doors all had an old, musky feel. The shower had no tub, and the lighting was very bad. On second thought, they probably keep the lights dim so that you don't notice the discoloring/stains on the shower floor, and the black mildew on the shower wall. Finally, the walls were WAY too thin. I could hear the woman on the opposite wall talking on the phone at night. I could also hear her wake up at 5:30am and turn on the TV. The volume on the TV was clearly not even turned up, but because of the bad positioning and thin walls, I could hear it enough to be woken up.

Now I realize that there really are no truly 'nice' hotels in Cincinnati (even the Westin, which is known for luxury, isn't really all that nice here), but this would never fly in a big-league city such as NY, LA, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, etc. As a frequent traveler to the city, it's unfortunate to have to make an effort to avoid this hotel in the future.

The Hyatt Cincinnati is an elegant hotel in the heart of the downtown. My main visit was their ball room for the 232nd Marine Corps Birthday Ball. The ball room is elegantly set up, with the ceiling being an expanse of lights and shimmering prisms with mirrors along the top panels of the walls to reflect these prisms, making it seem as though there are endless amounts of them. The hotel itself is large and very clean, with very friendly staff.

The Hyatt Cincinnati is a decent downtown hotel. Located nearby the sports stadiums, as well as I-71 and I-75, the Hyatt Cincinnati is very convenient for those who are visiting Downtown Cincinnati, whether for pleasure or business. It is located right along the Cincinnati Skywalk, giving you convenient access to the various stores, offices, and hotels in Downtown Cincinnati, all without stepping foot outside, which, on some days, is wonderful. There is a Saks Fifth Avenue located right inside the hotel, as well as 22 stories, an expansive lobby, a restaurant for breakfast, Findlay's, a restaurant for lunch or dinner, Champs, and a decent gift shop. There is no on sight parking; you must use valet to park your car in a parking garage half a block away. Personally, I'd rather be able to self park the car than have valet take it. The rooms are decent. You can choose pretty much from single or double beds and smoking or non-smoking. There is also a club level and a presidential suite. The rooms are your basic business hotel rooms. There is wireless internet available throughout the hotel provided by T-Mobile for $10 a day. The bathrooms are decent and the beds are comfortable. One thing I don't like about the rooms is the lack of a mini fridge. This is something I find at every Hyatt I stay in. Overall, if you are looking for a good business hotel in Downtown Cincinnati, the Hyatt is what you're looking for.
