I came here for a conference as well. They must book businesses a lot because I can't imagine coming here for vacation-there is nothing here! It's definitely in suburbia, which didn't really matter to me because I never left the place. I guess it was about 20 minutes to the Ft. Lauderdale aiport and 45 to the Miami airport.
I lucked out with a mini-suite which was very spacious. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were SMALL...I wish they would have made the bathroom bigger. Had a coffee maker and fridge in my room as well as a small balcony I couldn't enjoy because it was winter and rained a lot.
The conference food was ok. Not the best I've had but it could have been worse. The breakfast was good.
It's next to what looks like a private golf course. Nice to look out at-wild turkeys abound. The pool looked really cool, but again, it was winter so I didn't take advantage of it.

I must be getting old and crabby-particular in my old age. I --am feeling "Meh" about a Spa. I think this is one of the first signs of the Apocalypse.
I am a Spa girl from way back. But, I think I lean towards the organic, Eastern medicine, incense and not so much peppermints kind of spa experience. Perhaps that is why this place did not ring any of my Chakra bells.
I visited the Red Door Spa in NYC several times (with gift certificates, only.) The experience there was Meh-ish too, now that i think about it. The Bonaventure locale is comfortable - don't get me wrong. It's just nothing realllly special. The staff was attentive- but not out of this world - made me feel like a Queen- attentive. I was scrubbed down, massaged a bit and pedicured. All was fine- but for the price, I think I could have enjoyed the local nail salon just as much, for half as much- and a friend would have rubbed me down for kicks - or maybe a home cooked meal.
BTW- the pool area is small and not all that lush and fabulous. The locker room/ sauna room - mega meh! The food is from the hotel and also absolutely nothing to write home about.
In a time when it's wise to limit the costly splurges in your life- having a meh-ish spa in your own backyard is a blessing in disguise.

I agree with Audrey and Carrie. I came here for a conference and had a great time.
The Hyatt Regency Bonaventure is a solid hotel, with a few extra frills, like a waterfall at the main pool and/or extra large baths. I enjoyed the more private side pools a lot more than the main pool. The service was very good, from the front desk to the maids... Room service and restaurants were equally good. Rooms were very clean, but not brand spanking new. Prices are very reasonable.
The location is the only thing I can complain about. I got seriously lost a few times trying to find the place because I thought it would be easy to find, but it wasn't, and there's not anything else within walking distance. It's a very suburban location, which freaks this cityfied girly out. The trip to nearby Ikea made up for it though... :)
It's really not that far out (15 min to FLL), but it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere.
Nice place though, I'd recommend it.
Reasonably priced and nicely appointed hotel and spa just outside of Ft. Lauderdale proper. About a 25 minute drive to the beaches of Lauderdale and about 15 to the airport...the hotel boasts an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa on site as well as a couple of restaurants and a bar.
Golfing nearby as well as many shops/strip malls in the relatively nice Weston, Florida.
The rooms are clean...great bathrooms with marble counters and a separate bath and shower. In room movies and room service available...easy to park , close walk to the main entry where dining is located. There's also a "nature walk" around the resort...

This is a remarkably nice hotel given that it's in a sort of quiet suburban area outside of Ft Lauderdale. The rooms were nice - bathrooms even had bidets and lots of marble, there was a separate fridge that you could use to store food and coffee makers in each room. There's also a great swimming pool complete with a waterfall, pool-side ping pong and cabanas plus huge tiki bar. The hotel is on the edge of a golf course and there's a nature walk that you can take right along a waterway. The restaurant had delicious and healthy food - the service was sort of slow but the food made up for it. There's also an Elizabeth Arden spa which I didn't visit but it looked pretty nice.
