I don't ever write reviews on hotels, nor do I ever write reviews on chain places.  But this Hyatt is an anomaly for me.  I'm actually a Hyatt-ho ever since I used to stay at the huge ass one over in Ann Arbor and collected a trillion points doing so.  I even got married at a Hyatt.

But this one was a special experience all together and for one reason only.

We got to our room after checking in; we had to settle for 2 queen beds because there was a conference in town and there were no more single kings available - the beds were so SMALL (which is why I docked a point), so I called downstairs.  Nice guy Adam at the front desk told me there were no more king rooms available - and then said hold on.  After a moment of silence he said "come downstairs, I have another room for you".

We get downstairs and Adam is nice as pie, he apologized for the small beds (what can I say? my husband hogs the space) and hands us the new keys.

We get to the new room, which is like a closet compared to the first room; but had a huge bed; I walked over towards the closet and notice a huge mirror, floor to ceiling.  As I go closer, I notice that it's not a mirror, but the entrance to a WHOLE OTHER ROOM!  We basically got a sweet penthouse sweet on the corner of the building with some sick views of the Inner Harbor and downtown buildings.  Not to mention, I got a late checkout too. =)

Thank you Adam!

I've stayed at Hyatt Regency hotels in Philly, Chicago, and this one in Baltimore. This review pretty much constitutes my take on all three (and probably many other similar properties) although Chicago's doesn't have a rooftop pool like Philadelphia and Baltimore.

The good news: great location, friendly staff, impressive atrium and lobby, many nice amenities, small but adequate rooftop pool, very well stocked fitness center, BUT...

ENOUGH with the constant nickeling and diming! Just because expense account wielding, per diem brandishing, porn-renting business travelers and the blackberry/airport shuttle/never-leave-the-hotel-crowd are willing to pay for internet doesn't mean non-business, leisure travelers should have to. It's 2009, and internet should be, if not free, at least NOT BLOCKED IN THE LOBBY!!

[NOTE: You can take your laptop across the street to the Renaissance Hotel lobby and your wireless will work there.]

I suppose $27 a day self-parking is pretty standard, but there's ample street parking available behind the hotel and one block over.

And what's the point of having nice new flatscreen, high definition televisions if you're not going to pump in an HD signal?

Oh, and I saw Dick Gregory at the hotel bar. I thought he had died, but (if I may paraphrase Mark Twain) reports of his demise apparently have been greatly exaggerated.

We recently stayed here for a friend's wedding. The hotel was surprisingly nice. We were given a room on the 14th floor with a view of the other side of the U-shaped hotel building. We could see the harbor to our left if we tried really hard. The room was tiny. I felt like I was in Europe. The room had enough space for one queen size bed. Despite the size of the hotel room, everything about the room was nice. The room was clean, had nice modern furniture, modern bathroom, floor-to-ceiling windows, flat screen tv...etc.

The pedestrian bridge from the 3rd floor of the hotel to the Inner Harbor was a nice thing. Parking was expensive: $27 a day for hotel guests. Breakfast buffet was around $18 and pretty disappointing. I would have just walked up the street to Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast instead.

Overall, this was a very nice hotel to stay at. It's in a great location. I'd stay here again but would ask for a bigger room.

A few weeks ago we made a last minute one-night trip to Inner Harbor, and through http://priceline.com we landed a room at the Hyatt for a very reasonable price.  It's a very nice hotel, lovely views, and in a great location for the Aquarium and nearby shopping and restaurants.

When we first arrived they placed us in a 4th floor king room, but it wasn't roomy enough for 3.5 (the .5 is our 6 mth old bebe') of us, and the view was a bummer.  We asked if we could switch to a room with 2 doubles on a higher floor, so they moved us to a corner room on the 8th floor.  It was very nice, we had windows almost the entire length of the room, but the hallway lightbulb was out, so we could barely see to get into our room - it almost felt like we were trying to break into the boiler room, the way the uncarpeted, unlit hallway felt.  The bathroom was a good size, but could have used a shower stall - the bathtub/shower combo looked outdated after seeing the beautiful glass and tile shower in the 4th floor room.

Our first room had a modern sofa along one side of the room - the 2nd room had no sofa, chair or anything comforable to speak of that we could sit in.  So we could either sit on the beds, or in an office chair at the desk.  There was easily enough room for an easy chair or something similar.  Since we were only there one night, it wasn't a huge issue, but I had to nurse the baby a few times in the office chair.  Which was fun for wheeling around the room to check out the views after he'd doze off.

We asked for a rollaway bed for our 5 year old, and they brought one up right away.  The service was very good, although the folks at the front desk could have been a bit friendlier.

One last thought, the room service and mini-bar prices were absurd!  I told our daughter not to touch anything in the mini-bar.  If we had ordered room service coffee it would have been $8.  For one person.  For coffee.

Overall it was a good experience and we would stay there again - but be sure to take your own snacks and water.

Don't tell Mrs H, but - when it first opened - this is where I used to bring my dates to convince them of my worldly wit, charm, and sophistication.  The second floor lounge area with it's overlook of the lobby and soft, live piano playing coupled with a few sips of a good Pinot noir gave a gentile air about this mega-monument-ode to architectural glass.  Wonderful views of the Inner Harbor and Harbor Place from a very open, light, and relaxing space.  If you're luring in a potential mate, it's best views are at twilight in the winter.

Bathrooms, modern, towels are soft..big flat screen TV's...minibar..

Open the blinds in the morning and look at the sun reflecting off the bay, very nice.

Our meeting rooms is nice too, brought us Starbucks coffee and Delicious cookies for our afternoon snack!

Awesome location, GREAT view, comfortable beds, iHomes, flat screen tv's, big/modern bathrooms, friendly staff. I was completely satisfied on that end.
We had a suite on the 11th floor: big queen room joining a BIG living room area with modern furniture, tv and bathroom joining a room with two double beds and another bathroom. 3 bathrooms. 3 tv's. 3 iHomes all made for a great birthday weekend.

The glass elevators are beautiful and quite an experience (I am afraid of heights so the 11 floor ride was horrifying at times) but painfully SLOW. The hotel is huge and the wait for an elevator was unbearable at times. We went down to the bar for drinks and it took 15 minutes to catch a lift up to the room at midnight.

Other than the elevator issue I had a fantastic experience. We phoned down for a cot and it arrived in about 90 seconds.

Nice. The concierges suck though! They reccomended Burkes (BLEUGH!) But the meeting facilities, rooms, and pool is nice. Although you may want to wear flip-flops at the pool. The jacuzzi is hard to find though (if u go into the fitness center and up the stairs, you will find it ;-)

LOCATION IS AWESOME!!!

I really loved the rooms. They recently had a $10 million dollar renovation so each room is equipped with modern looking furniture and flat HD tv's! So why the low rating?

The walls are really thin, so I didn't like hearing the neighbor's tv on at 8 am when I was still adjusting to eastern standard time from pacific standard time. Also, I knew a bride who got married here and the wedding planner WAS HORRIBLE. (This probably contributes to -2 stars) She was SO unprofessional, walking down the aisle right before the wedding began (is it so difficult to walk around?). No one knew where to go for hor deorves before the reception... she had to usher people around individually. And what tops the cake is that apparently she doesn't respond to emails and phone calls leading all the way up to the wedding. Yikes, would not have wanted to deal with her if I was the bride.

Otherwise the food was good and the rooms were visually appealing. Not to mention that the hotel is located right next to inner harbor, so that you can walk to the shops and the WTC... the aquarium and the science center and a lot of worthwhile tourist destinations. But seriously, for the price I'm paying, I'd really wish I could have gotten some more sleep.

Good location and a very reasonable price (less than $200 a night I think).  I was here for the past few days, so I think I got a good sense of this place.  It's located right next to the inner harbor which is nice for taken a walk around the water even though the inner harbor is a total tourist  trap.  This is what I'd call a convention center hotel, which I usually don't like because i find the staff a little less friendly typically and rushed.  I didn't get this sense here.  It seemed like most of the staff had genuine smiles.  I stayed on the 10th floor with an amazing view of the water.  It was a nice sized room with a huge couch located next to the window.  The couch was comfy and big enough to stretch out on.  The bed was okay, but nothing special.  The TV was new and a nice sized plasma.  The room seemed clean enough.  The bathroom I thought was a little small for my  taste especially the sink area, not really enough room to spread out your toiletries.  The shower was pretty good, I usually prefer a seperate bathtub and a shower stall, but I can't remember ever taking a bath in a hotel, so I guess it makes more sense to have a large shower stall which this one had.  I was really pleased that they had a super fast drycleaner that will guarantee your stuff back by 5 PM even if you  drop it off at 2 PM.  You have to pay double, but it was worth it for me not really having been home in a while.  The concierge was helpful enough, but I was a bit surprised at the place she sent me for breakfast today (more on that later).  Overall a good hotel at a reasonable price in a great location.
