I am really impressed, especially by the exceptional staff.  (A previous reviewer commented on the lack of hospitality, but that was not my experience at all.)  Everyone was so courteous and did everything they could to answer my questions and handle my requests.

The free shuttle to anywhere within a 5-mile radius was an unexpected bonus.  I mean, curbside service to Walgreens and back?!?  Awesome!

The rooms are spacious.  I was in a double bed room, with a desk, a couch big enough for two people to sleep on (seriously!), plenty of counter space, two sinks and two phones, one of which is cordless. Sure, it's an old model so the handset size made me giggle...but it still is great to walk around the room without being chained to the phone by the bed.  I know most people use mobiles today, but the cordless is a nice feature for when someone calls me at the hotel.

Some of the food in the lobby was surprisingly good (tomato bisque, garden greens salad), and other stuff wasn't as good (I was disappointed the seasonal greek shrimp salad was mostly romaine lettuce). I don't eat birds or cows, so I can't comment on those dishes. Also, I didn't have any breakfast food, so I can't speak to the quality of that, nor to any sort of morning-time congestion in the lobby.

Free Wi-Fi in the rooms is great--FAR better than a lot of Hyatts provide.  Also, the free business printing in the lobby was appreciated.  The huge TV in the room made me wish I enjoyed watching TV.

Again, though, it was really the people here that made my stay. I wish I could pack them up with me and bring them to my next hotel. Each one of them was a treat.

Ron L. took the words right out of my mouth, save for the aircon comment.

A very comfortable, aesthetically pleasing space. Try http://hotwire.com for bargain pricing. Would certainly stay here again.

Typical Hyatt Place layout which we really like.  Spacious rooms with a really functional layout for business travel.  Excellent bed/bedding and decent shower.  Fast wifi and large TV with HDMI hookups if you want to connect your laptop to the tv.  All of this is pretty standard issue for Hyatt Place.
The biggest downside to this particular hotel is the absolutely pathetic breakfast offerings.   They also lose ground for the staff who didn't speak or acknowledge us unless we were standing in front of them.  This isn't typical for HP as generally their staff is well trained and personable.  It doesn't cost anything to greet a hotel customer when you pass them in the lobby.
All in all a good hotel for an airport focused property.

Airport hotels are notoriously bad because they know they don't have to impress.  People are usually in for one night, then off to their next city.  I've stayed at my fair share of airport hotels in my lifetime to know.

Hyatt Place impressed me, and I don't impress easily.  Free internet, a 42" high def TV in every room, spacious room with a living space with a pull out bed, and free continental breakfast.  This is my go to place now in Tucson.  Too bad it's far from everything.

Watch out for the aircondition unit.  It does tend to get loud at night.

Hyatt continues to remodel older Amerisuites into their new mid-priced business brand, Hyatt Place. I relly like the concept. A 2 room suite (divided by a half wall) allows the 42 inch Plasma HDTV to swing toward the sectional couch in the living area, or over to the king size bed in the sleeping area.  Decor is Hyatt like, with nice soothing autumn earth tones of beiges, ambers and browns, with a hint of blues.

This Hyatt Place is near the Tucson Airport, on the south side of Tucson. Most of the downtwon area is about 6 miles north, so a rental car is the best way to get around, although there is a bus stop that runs down Tucson Blvd.

The "Gallery" dining  has free continental breakfast each morning, mainly of fruits, breads, yogurt and beverages. There is a POS terminal to order hot food, that will be charged to your room. Flat panel TVs with the news and sports are in easy view, and the bar, tables and lounge areas give you a choice of seating.

This new concept is changing the industry, as Courtyard by Marriot is thinking of redesigning their brand along these concepts of casual dining, "Bistro" setting, and good access to local information for business travelers.

Winter is peak season in Tucson for the Snowbird crowd, so my rate was $152/weekday nights.  This property could be had for $50 less on weekends and off peak times.

I'd go 4 stars for an airport hotel, 3 stars overall for a hotel. Still, I think the Hyatt Place may be my hotel of choice based on what is important to me.

    PROS:
    - good wireless -- I can sit anywhere in the room!
    - 42" HD plasma with decent channel selection
    - separate couch area
    - in room sink and refrigerator
    - decent hair dryer
    - clean/airy fitness center w/ 1 recumbent bike, 2 treadmills and one (lifestride) elliptical
    - free breakfast with a nice help yourself attitude (workout, grab breakfast to go, head to your room)
    - self-serve check in kiosk (don't have to talk to anyone!)
    - kiosk to order other food any time you want
    - to go cups for tea& coffee, fruit

    CONS:
    - rooms are a little dated. The furniture seems old and dirty. sorta like they prettied it up with good technology
    - beds are still comfy, but getting worn
    - rooms feel a little "dirty"
    - no pool (I don't think, anyway)
    - uber loud a/c (but it works well)

anyway, for me the pro's outweigh the cons, and the location is where I need to be.

Simple,...The complimentary buffet breakfast sucked for a Hyatt property.  BEWARE!!!  The breakfast area was wayyyy too small for even twenty people, the organization and ease of use for serving yourself simple toast was a nightmare (so disorganized!), and to get eggs on a plate (any style), you had to use a Kiosk!   (unheard of!)

People were on top of each other for breakfast, looking lost and disgruntled, and if you didn't bring the food to your room, you were in for quite the stand-up meal.

Now the rooms were nice.  The way the TV and the Internet worked was very nice and free access, and the furniture well appointed for that modern simplicity look.

I do not suggest anyone go to this property unless everything else in the area is sold out and you needed a place to lay your head down for the prices Hyatt charges$$$...

I give this property two stars---One for location, one for the room (PERIOD!).

    My new second choice.

I am usually a Starwood kind of guy, but when the Sheraton Suites is not available, I'm going here.  It is truly in the middle of nowhere, but the level of finish in the room and the free breakfast make it a better choice than the "body count" Sheraton Four Points.  Check it out.

Easy check-in, great price from priceline, super friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. What more do you need from a hotel? I would give it 5 stars if it was more centrally located, but I'm sure the proximity to the airport is a plus for some people, just not for us.

Great location to the airport. The rooms are spacious and clean. You have one large wide screen TV that shares on a swivel for both rooms. Get food somewhere else if you can...... it was not that great and selection was light. They did not have wine glasses that was a bummer. But all in all it is exactly a 3 star.

Wow, what a great concept. This has some of the cool design concepts that Westin Elements uses. Well decorated, large & contemporary suite design. Free and fast wifi. Enthusiastic and attentive employees. The only downside was the food offerings. They could def do a better job on that. We will certainly stay here again when we are in the area. Nice indeed.

Me and my honey decided to get out of phx W/out leaving the state. We had a GREAT stay! The surrounding area is basically the airport parking. There were 7 hotels on this strip of Old Tucson Road. I prepaid the room on http://hotels.com, there is a $20 per day room charge for incidentals. The "free" breakfast consisted of the standard bagel, cereal, fruit. However, you can order a cook to order meal on their interactive screen. I had a waffle, 2 strips of bacon, and potatoes. That came to $7. Free parking, pool gate was broke couldn't use key card. but it was clean. they had a mini bar that only serves beer and wine. Too expensive. Go down the street to the gas station and get beer, chips etc. Now the Room.... WOW!!! The 42' LG Screen, King Bed, Mini Bar and L-Shaped sofa living room. It was one of the nicest appointed rooms I have ever stayed in so far. Its a wow factor when you walk in. Love the color scheme... they do not have vending machines on any of the floors. bought 2 sodas @4.00. They want you to order everything from their downstairs cafe. We went to the casino and a must see the Museum of Natural History. Had dinner at Claim Jumper. I flipped him over a few time LMAO!!!! Rate? Surprisingly, $65-75 a night. Will definitely go again. Great Weekend get away
