9 reviews for Hyatt Place
DH stayed here on a recent trip to the Boston area. The room was really nice, big TV, comfy bed and clean room overall.
The free breakfast wasn't filled with tons of choices but good fresh fruit and coffee.
Moderate price for the area. We would stay here again, if visiting Boston!
Great place. Beautiful large rooms. Only things against it are the bar closes at 11pm and no hot tub.
Clean, no bed bugs during my two visits. The customer service was good on my trips as well, especially since I walked in after midnight and they actually smiled. The free breakfast area was messy, however, there was food until 9:53. Free Internet in the main lobby. Found the rooms to be spacious.
Since it was so last minute this trip, I was put into a wheelchair accessible room. I thought the accommodations they had made were commendable. They offer a minimal AA discount. I would certainly stay there again.

I totally agree with the other reviews, EXCEPT a few things to be aware of.
1. I got bad bug bites in the bed. Like 7 of them. So check the bed before you climb in.
2. The customer service is non-existent. They never left us clean cups in the room and when we called to ask them to bring some up, they directed us to the kitchen to pick some up ourselves.
3. The "gym" has 3 pieces of equipment - all of which had no power when I went to work out.
4. The free breakfast goes until 9am weekdays and 10am weekends. They DO NOT advertise this and usually all the food runs out a half hour before it ends.
However, besides all these tiny nit-picky things, I would absolutely stay here again. It was a great rate for the type of room, free breakfast, and shuttle service.

for the price you can't beat it. no bed bugs. no real gym either. the free breakfast does end early. superior staff.
The first reviewer said it perfectly. This is a GREAT place to stay if you are on a budget. You get a great rate, free continental breakfast, free shuttle to the T and the rooms are awesome. You can't go wrong with a king size bed, couch that sits 5 (and pulls out to a bed), a 42" plasma, a desk, and a wet bar with a mini fridge. The people were also extremely friendly which was just icing on the cake.
While it may not have been the most centrally located hotel to the city of Boston and not in the flashiest part of town, this was a great hotel and I highly recommend it.

I just want to add on a positive note, that the price is OK, the rooms are large, the a/c works and the TV is big screen.
I can't complain about the hotel repair service, because there is none. The room cleaning is hit or miss.
Don't expect a breakfast during the week. When they run out of food on Wednesday, they wait until Saturday to restock. Staying for a night or two and if the location works it's OK, but watch out for bug bites in the bed.
I've stayed here for many years and now that it's Hyatt it is no longer a place to come back to. I have experienced better and at this location!
I was visiting Boston and ended up getting a great deal staying here.
This Hyatt Place is really nice, its brand new though (took over some other hotel that used to be there) so my cab driver didn't know exactly where it was (exit 32).
It has a huge flat screen HDTV in every room, they offer a shuttle service to the red line and the orange line so you can easily get around Boston, the rooms are big, good continental breakfast in the morning, and very friendly and helpful staff.
Overall if you are on a budget and going to Boston I would definitely recommend this place, its nice and affordable.

[my parents have been staying at this location for years and always loved it. Even when I moved out of Medford they continued to stay at this hotel because they liked it that much. Up until last year it was an Amerisuites, but this year (their first visit while it's the Hyatt) they have have quite a different experience. Below my father is going to write a review of Hyatt Place]:
Down hill with a large tv. Now the "free" breakfast has become a charge for the former "gratis" items. The hyatt ran out of fruit, creamers for coffee, and bagels for two days. There must be no supermarkets in the Boston
area. The roof vent (we were on the top floor) bangs all night. We asked for a room change but were told it would be fixed. I asked every morning for six days. It was never fixed. Clean towels we received, but our room was never cleaned! The bath tub had hair in the drain (I cleaned it) the sink counter was dirty, never cleaned, (except by me),water glasses were a hit or miss item. Sometimes there, some days not. The bed was made on some days! On other days the covers were pulled up but the pillows remained on the floor!
We will not stay here again and neither should you.
[I'm back - I wanted to write that I disagree with my father that you shouldn't stay here. I think this particular stay was just a big disappointment for my parents because it wasn't nearly as nice as it used to be (yes, Hyatt made the lobby pretty, but many of the free amenities were taken away and the maid service was terrible). I think that the hotel is still a good price and worth the stay if the location works for you.]
