5 reviews for Hyatt Place Lakeland Center
Their corporate tagline is "Stylish. Thoughtful. Savvy". This hotel meets the first two maxims, but I'm not sure about the third-- are they savvy, or am I savvy for staying here? Their execution makes me feel savvy for choosing to stay with them.
"Stylish"-- the modern interior design is consistent from lobby to room to plates and silverware. Generally earthy tones with wood and leather accents. Most hotels would win 2 stars alone on design consistency.
Rooms are big and clean (awkward closet though), and include a living area w/ office desk, wet bar, small fridge.
Large plasma HD TV, cable w/ HD channels, free WiFi.
Pleasant and helpful staff.
Free continental breakfast.
Smallish fitness room with treadmills.
2 computers and 1 printer at no-extra-fee business center.
Their sandwiches, wraps, cookies, etc., are pretty good quality. Restaurants are at least 4 blocks away, but the immediate area generally feels safe.
After one phone call from the Gen Manager, Mr. B and that was it! No asking how my arm was until I volunteered my status as if they cared. Corp posture of indifference. 3 days later their Ins. Carrier called, demanding info, not concerned w/ my injury. I asked for the incident report to review for accuracy, the said they did not have it...
Hmmmm Ins. Carrier calling me as I was injured and they don't know why they are calling? BS!

I wrestled with this star rating. The Hyatt Place in Lakeland is very nice and the rooms are fantastic. I stayed here a year ago and was very impressed so I booked for this past weekend. Its location next to the convention center is perfect for those doing business there ( Less than thirty feet) The hotel is modern and comfortable and the front desk staff was excellent. Though there are a some things that they could improve on. I traveled with a business associate in a wheel chair and there was no wheelchair ramp from the hotel to the convention center. This made it very inconvenient for him to get back and fourth without assistance. Also we never received a parking pass when we checked in and if it weren't for another patron we would have been towed. Lastly we only received soap and shampoo on the first day This is small in complaints but makes me wonder about other areas housekeeping misses. I will certainly stay there again on my next business trip, but I will keep my eye out for any standards getting lower the next time.
A family member stayed here a couple of times and two work-related guests have also lodged here. The rooms are clean and the service for all stays was reportedly fine. The location leaves a bit to be desired if you don't have a car, as you cannot walk easily to the center of downtown. But if you are heading to an event at The Lakeland Center, you're golden.
I've been staying here for the last five weeks. Greatest hotel in Lakeland. All rooms are suites with sitting area, desk, mini bar. HD TV doesn't hurt! Best of all, very friendly staff. When you're away from home as long as I have been, that makes a world of a difference.
