Stopped here in the middle of the night on our way from IL back home to Philly after we realized the Marriott down the street where we had made reservations was more motel (doors open to outside) than hotel.
This is a cool little place. The lobby had a nice lounge area that seemed to be enjoyed by the guests. Our room was very comfortable with a separate living space and kitchen area. Nice, huge flat screen TV and a comfortable bed. We slept in and missed the typical breakfast service, but their on-demand kiosk was a pleasant surprise - I just keyed in two breakfast orders and had a tasty hot breakfast and starbucks lattes served up in no time.
Service was excellent - every employee I spoke with was friendly and helpful. If I'm in the Pittsburgh area, I will definitely stay here again. -

This place is totally and completely amazing.
Because I am fortunate enough to be a Caps season ticket holder, I managed to secure tix for the Winter Classic. Being that this was over New Year's (which happened to be a weekend), room rates in Pittsburgh proper were hellaexpensive. I actually went up a day early to see the Consol Center to watch the Bears/Baby Pens game, and figured I'd stay here since for $98, I got the equivalent of what was a 1 bedroom apt (minus the kitchen).
This was not the first time staying at a Hyatt Place (I've stayed at the one near the airport in Pittsburgh) and it definitely won't be my last. The hotel is only 15 minutes or so from the city, and is off the major highways so that you can make it downtown with ease.
The staff was beyond friendly. They always referred to me by name. The gentleman who checked me in on 12/30 saw my Caps gear and we started talking hockey for a while; he ended up being a Rangers fan so we had a common hate of the Penguins. He made sure to go above and beyond the call of duty to try to secure me a room for New Year's Eve since the weather looked like it might interfere with the actual playing of the Winter Classic, and at that point I'd rather pay the $98 than the $180 I was paying to stay downtown on New Year's Eve. Alas, it was not meant to be, but I applaud them for going the extra mile to try to help me out.
The hotel is clean, smells great, and the rooms have the most comfy beds ever. You are not far from anything, and there is a host of restaurants around. The toiletries are great and it really does feel like a home away from home when you have a living room sofa with a sleeper. The rooms are set up so that you can easily bunk with others/kids while maintaining some privacy for yourself. The massive flat screen TV is a nice touch.
Check-in and out is a breeze with the touchscreens. I love the Gallery kitchen and the bar.
You can't go wrong with this place. It was so good, we ended up coming back to stay on New Year's Day after the game.
Hyatt Place - we will be back! -
Review from Julie D.
Okay, guys, we've all heard of Hyatt . Well, this is their younger, cute sister that everyone likes. These places are popping up everywhere, so if you get a chance to stay at one, please do. You will not be disappointed. The Cranberry Hyatt Place is a totally revamped old Amerisuites. And revamp, they did. Their "gallery" as they call it, I call it the check in desk (duh) features a self-registration kiosk, an cozy little coffee and wine cafe, a TV den room (I think it's good place for parents to send their kids to get rid of them) and a nice little "e-room" with free access to a public computer and printer. The gallery is really an inviting place for everything to hang out in, lots of seating, lots of room. Stylist and modern, this is the type of interior design you would do at home. If you had the nerve.
You can purchase hot breakfast entrees along with Starbucks coffees or enjoy a free continental breakfast. I highly recommend the free continental. It's all pre-packaged stuff, but it's all very good goodies. They also have items that you can order (sandwiches, soups, salads and pizza) which guests can order 24/7 via a touch screen menu in the guest kitchen or from the guest host. The place has the usual pool, fitness center and high-speed Wi-Fi internet. Now, realize this place is not the Regency, but it's a very nice, casual alternate.
The rooms are spacious and have an innovative style and interior design. Sorta kinda Zen like. Ambient lighting, nice shoji-like screens, very cozy and inviting. And who doesn't want a room with a 42" flat panel high-definition television? There is also a plush and cozy corner over-sized sofa sleeper that is separated from the sleeping area. Come on. Put your feet up on the huge ottoman and relax. My only complaint would be that the "bathroom" is tiny (swing the door open, it almost hits the tub) but the rest of the room more than makes up for this.
Don't forget to sign up for Hyatt Gold Passport. After a couple stays at any Hyatt worldwide, I've already earned a free room.
The rooms at Hyatt Place are very reasonably priced. And while this is not The Regency, you will be very comfortable staying with the younger, hipper, cute and friendlier little sister. She will take good care of you, I promise. -

Great hotel. COMFY BEDS!!! Huge tv and just generally well taken care of rooms. They even smell nice. You know what else, the pens are great too. I was staying with my cross country team at the time, but I don't think this place is very cheap. I think only part of the breakfast was free, but it was pretty good. The whole atmosphere of the place is very nice and everyone is super friendly. If you in the area this is a great place to stay.

Whenever possible, I try to stay at a Hyatt Place when I'm traveling for business or for pleasure. I stayed at this Hyatt Place back in October 2009 when I traveled to Pittsburgh for a Steelers game. The staff at this location (as with any Hyatt Place I've stayed) couldn't have been any nicer. The check-in process is always quick and thorough and the staff will go out of their way to ask what they might be able to do for you in order to make your stay more pleasant. The rooms are very spacious and have a separate living room area complete with a sofa, desk, mini-refrigerator, and sink. The bed is very soft and comfortable. The television is a large flat-screen unit that can be turned to suit your desire of watching TV in bed or in the living room area. The TV area has a portal with hookups for video games, DVD players, and computers. Another nice feature of this hotel (and any Hyatt Place location) is the complimentary breakfast - there are plenty of items from which to choose and they keep it replenished until 10:00 a.m.. The hotel is located along a busy thoroughfare through Cranberry Township, which is near all of your popular stores. So, if you need to run to Walgreen's, CVS, Giant Eagle, or heaven forbid, Wal-Mart - they're all just down the street.
When I return to Pittsburgh, I'll defintiely stay at the Hyatt Place again. -

For the location and price range, this place was a very pleasant surprise - spacious elegant room, excellent service, high quality continental breakfast, very clean pool. An excellent choice for the area.
