Review from Colleen M.
Chicago, IL
I'm still in love with the custom engagement ring that my fiancé bought from Hurst's, so it was our logical first stop when we started looking for our wedding bands.
At first, I was a bit skeptical about whether the drive out to the 'burbs would be worth it, but from the moment we walked in the door together, I knew this place was special. The staff greeted him by name, and helped us figure out what we liked and didn't like. On a return visit, Eduardo patiently showed us the same rings again, plus many more, but we still settled on the bands that we saw on our first visit. While we shopped, Eduardo and his team made us feel right at home, and even took my engagement ring to the back room for a good polishing.
Before you stop in a chain store to pick out jewelry that really means something, I'd recommend visiting Hurst's for a locally owned option that delivers exceptional service. -

They do have nice stuff however, their service always comes at a cost. Battery replacement is double the price as compared to most retail places. They demanded a fifty dollar deposit to send an item back to the manufacturer in the US. They did not return my deposit claiming that it cost that much to mail the item. It was jewelry, light weight stuff, not furniture.

It's a gallery of gems and diamonds. Love everything here. Perfect place for engagement rings and anniversary gifts( hint, hint honey). They carry designer jewelers like Simon G, Charles Garnier, Hidalgo, Judith Conway, etc. Service is wonderful.
Regret not getting my wedding band here :(

History
Established in 1927
Berwyn Jewelers is the longest standing jewelry store in Berwyn. It was founded in 1927 by Michael Hadraba. In 1942, a young George Hurst began to work for Berwyn Jewelers. George Hurst continued to work for Berwyn Jewelers through High School until he left for his tour of duty in the military. In 1953, Ron Hurst, George's younger brother, started to work for Berwyn Jewelers. Ron continued to work for Berwyn Jewelers through college. Ron and George both went into education. George Hurst became the principal of Irving Elementary School in Berwyn where he served the community for many years. Ron Hurst Became a History teacher at Morton East High School in Cicero.
Michael Hadraba passed away in 1966, and his wife sold Berwyn Jewelers to "those sweet Hurst boys" in 1967. After the Berwyn Theater Building set fire, in 1981, Hursts' Berwyn Jewelers was founded in it's current location (next door to the old theater building) right on Cermak Road.
Meet the Business Owner: Ron and Kathy H.
Each of the principals have a lifetime of experience in the jewelry business; and we're one of the very few American Gem Society jewelers in the Chicago area. As such, we care deeply about the jewelry and gems we offer - concerned for quality above all.
