So glad we decided to eat here. The food was awesome. Starting with the bread - freshly made herb slab and some sour dough -- yumm to both. We were looking for something light as it was pretty late -- I had the potato soup, oh it was rich and creamy. We both had the sea bass special - the bass was on a bed of red bell pepper infused mashed potatoes with a green salsa on top. Ohhh, my gosh!! Don't know what kind of pesto encrusted the bass but it was fantastic.

Our waiter was really great -- funny and professional at the same time -- someone I'd say enjoys his job, and he's very good at it.  We walked right in without a wait.

The only drawback was that the tables are pretty close together and there was a loud obnoxious know-it-all at the table across from us who just couldn't shut up. Thank goodness they were done about half way through our meal and left.

Wow!  I just drove back to santa Rosa and I am falling asleep, but i do not want to go to sleep without saying something about Hurleys: Wow!
I had heard that Hurleys was the "Fun" place in yountville and the "late night" spot for a meal,  and that might very well be true, but no one had told me what a gem of a restaurant it was, The staff and management is friendly and accomodating, The prices are very reasonable, the portions are generous, and the food is first class fare.  There were several people in our table so everyone got to try many of the dishes, and what a fun menu!
We started with the Calamari, which had a cornmeal coating, it was not the crispy flash fried you find in most places, but it had an almost southern flare, Didnt even need the creamy sauce it came with, but it sure was good. 13. then we had the mini crab cakes, they were delicios, crispy outside & sweet tender flavorful inside. Fennel, pomegranate, grapefruit sounds like it would be too busy, well it is not, is a truly symphony of a bite. 12 bucks.  then I had the asparagus and my friend had the spinach salad, I dont know where they get the spears this late in the fall, but they were as yummy as you expect them to be in July, The grilling on aged oak gives them such depth in flavor, this was simply elegant. 10 dollars. Christoph, as usual had the Chicken, I had the Seared tuna. Both were delivered with perfection, and for once, id id clean my plate and i did not overstuffed myself at the same time. Loved the asian cabbage thingy, it was just perfect for someone who had to drive over the hill back home, but I HAVE to go back, the wild boar and the Buffalo short Ribs looked impossibly delicious. Dont get me wrong, the tuna was seared perfectly  and the Chicken has such a such a satisfying flavor, but the menu is full of gastronomic wonders. The vanilla Creme bruleee left  that fresh real vanilla rush on the tip of the tongue, and the Ice cream sandwich with hazelnut praline, vanilla gelato, and raspberry coulis  was elegant and super fun at the same time ( kinda like oreos for grown ups, but with very first quality ingreditnes and with a raspberry  finish)  But the Phylo Gold Apple Crostada, topped with some honey Chèvre ice cream, surrounded by fresh California wild huckleberries was the most hedonistic end to an amazing evening. As the Goat milk ice cream ( delicious) melted over the warm apple tart, the flavors mingled elevating each other, the honey combined with the ice cream was so much better than any caramel would of been, defenetly fresh and different. The huckeberies were sweet and sligthly spicy( or was it me ? ) but all togeter, it was like a warm apple hug and an ice cream kiss all at the same time.  And the phylo was home made, so it was not flakey or dry, but it was thick, moist and full of flavor, almost like a pie crust but lighter in texture. I am in love....
The wines were amazing too, we started with Schramsb- Rose, then moved to Sequoia G Chard, follwed with Viader Syrah, Expression 39 from Anderson Valley and more..
I am falling asleep, but ask me more, this was what a dinning  experience should always be like.  I am still in total bliss.....

Frequenting as many restaurants in Yountville as I can, I found myself drawn to Hurley's on a casual Thursday night for dinner. Their offerings of wild boar and ahi tuna intrigued me enough to stop in for a visit.

Ample parking in their own lot started the evening off on the right foot. Many times have I struggled to find a spot either on the street or across in the V marketplace. Walking through the doors into the bar I am instantly greeted by the hostess. She smiles and approaches us with menu's in hand. I had a reservation for the dining room, but it being a hot August night I decided it more prudent to sit on the patio. We were promptly seated in a nook towards the street. The sun was bright, but that soon dimmed as it set behind the Mayacamas Mountains.

Our server, Christian, provided a wealth of knowledge in addition to unbelievably prompt service. I was awfully surprised by how much she knew about the menu. No question went unanswered. She suggested we start with the mussels. I accepted and then asked which wine would pair best with this starter course. She suggested the Bridesmaid blend. Hesitant, simply because I have never heard of this it, I accepted.

The wine was awfully unique and paired perfectly with the mussels (which came in a red wine sauce mind you). The portion size was just enough for me and my date. If there were more of us I might have considered ordering the crab cakes.

Our main courses proved to be delectable too. I went with the wild boar, being that Christian mentioned that it was the chef's speciality. My date had the fish of the day, which happened to be pan roasted halibut. The boar was great. The reduced braising liquids over the polenta matched up perfectly. It is a rich dish, but yet didn't fill me beyond capacity. I had a bite or two of the fish just to try it. It was cooked well, not dry at all. It came with mashed potatoes and some chanterelle mushrooms. The sauce was outstanding and highlighted the natural flavor of the fish, while not over powering it.

Desert came next. We split the strawberry shortcake. The biscuit provided was outstanding! It was sweet, yet not too sweet. Buttery, yet not too buttery. The strawberries were fresh and the house made whip cream rounded out the dish.

The staff here did a good job of providing prompt service and giving us additional information regarding the restaurant's dishes. I will be coming back here soon.

I just dined at Hurley's for a work dinner.  It was okay.  Nothing too thrilling, standard stuff that I'm sure you've had somewhere else, and probably a little better.  Beef skewers were meh, goat cheese and mushrooms toasts were good (how could they not be?).  The spinach salad with bacon was good.  The gnocchi were okay.  The fish was okay.  The steak was okay.  The chocolate cake with caramel was okay.  Everything was decent, good enough even, but not the best I've had.  Service was very attentive and friendly though, I must've had 87 glasses of wine with their attention to keeping glasses filled up (ah, I did the same when I was a server. . . gotta love pouring when it's based on consumption)
Overall, a solid meal -  maybe I'm just bummed because I didn't get to go to Ad Hoc?

One of the best surprises of a recent Napa weekend, that included an incredible meal at French Laundry, was lunch at Hurley's.  While the service was very good, the food was the star.  Octopus salad was beyond words.  The wild boar baby back ribs will be remembered for years.

I Just went back to Hurleys with my mom and sister. It was an Okay experience this time...usually I like the food better than this visit. The calamari was just so-so and it was "wild game" this week which is not really my cup of tea. If that is your thing you should go, they had buffalo, antelope and even venison on the menu. I opted for the raviolis which were disappointing and bland. I would have ordered the salmon but it was Atlantic salmon which is a nice way of saying the salmon is farmed....and I am not a fan of farmed fish. My mom and sister really enjoyed their Rib eyes and my mom loved the chocolate desert with caramel...the only other thing that bothered me this visit was our waiter. He was very condescending and attentive but kind of rude. My mom and sister don't eat out as much as I do and he truly treated us like amateur diners and I did not appreciate it! hopefully next visit will be a better one!

Came here with the fam for a late lunch.  We decided to try this spot since it was technically "new" for us.

At first, the hostess told us the wait would be 30-45 mins for a party of 5, for lunch at 2pm... on a Sunday.  How is that even possible??  Not sure if she was being nice or just saw us potentially leaving, but she said if the reservation didn't come, we could take their table outside.  5 mins later we were seated.  Thank goodnes - I was starving!

Service was pretty good, our food came out fast and the servers were all very nice (well, considering the prices, they should have all kissed our behinds).  I was surprised to see the reviews about the bad service.  Maybe we got lucky with a good batch of waitstaff that day.

We started with the crispy calamari mix.  Not bad!  There were other veggies mixed with the calamari that were surprisingly good.  Cauliflower?  You'd never know when you bite into it - it's delish.

Hubs and I split a burger.  Yes, we went to fancy Yountville for a burger.  What preggo craves, preggo gets!  It wasn't too bad, nothing outstanding.  What I loved most were the fries.  They were crispy crispy crispy - YUMO.

We also split a mozerella sandwich - not sure how else to describe it.  It was grilled bread, with olive tapenade, tomato, and fat chunk of mozeralla inside.  It was delicious and didn't leave you feeling heavy.  Came with a side of orzo pasta, which was just ok.  I wasn't in the mood, I guess.

Overall, not too bad, but I don't know if we'd come back.  The menu was pretty limited, and nothing really stood out - I mean c'mon, 3 out of 5 of us ordered a burger.  Plus the pricing was a little on the high side ($12 burger?).  It's expected in the area, but I was just hoping for a better menu selection.

I'd maybe come back for the fries and calamari, but that's it.

So so.

We ate outside, however it got really chilly.  They offered blankets as we got into our meal.  We had a group of 6 and we started w/ calamari, mussels, crab cakes - all average.  I tried a bite of the shrimp & fennel ravioli - ok.  For my meal I ordered their seafood of the day - scallops w/ olives, capers and house made gnocchi.   It was on the salty side, in fact someone else at our table ordered the same and notified the waiter.  The waiter was kind enough to take it back and asked if he wanted something else instead.  The dessert was disappointing - Warm Chocolate Fudge Cake.  There was nothing fudge about it.  I was thinking a molten fudge center - nothing.

Went back again and had a great time.  Food was satisfying.  Squash blossoms are amazing.  Our server Alex was great. He was funny and put up with my friend and I as we gave him a hard time about looking like Matt Damon.  He was really helpful on picking out a bottle of wine to go with our food, he recommended the bridesmaid which was awesome.  Had the boar and was delighted with its quality and flavor.  Again I had the strawberry shortcake which was amazing with its ample portion of strawberries and a great buttery cake, so so sooo yummy, if only they could deliver that to my house right now :)

First time in Napa and we're looking for a nice place to kick off the experience... we didn't find it here. This place has a killer loaction in Yountville, which is right in the middle of the valley. The service was definitely top notch, but the food was too simple for the $20 plus price on every item. They need to take the food up a notch for the prices they're asking or drop the cost.

There are too many nice restaurants and bistros to visit in this amazing part of the country to waste your time here.

Food was pretty good.  Squash blossom fritter appetizer was typical, but since you don't find them on a menu all that often, I had to taste; light and crispy...I think they could have been stuffed more generously.  I had the vegetable risotto which was chock full of asparagus and roasted heirloom teardrop tomatoes.  Rice was a little too al dente for risotto.  Seared tuna with asian veggies was pretty good.  Dessert was the standout: a homemade ice cream sandwich, which was a layered terrine of ice cream and cookie.  Our server was kind of odd.

Someone once told me this is where the local winery folks go for lunch. Not sure if that's really true. I found it a little stuffy, but the hostess was super friendly and personable so that made up for it.

I had a mixed greens salad which was pretty good (nothing special though) but the mac and cheese side I had was just divine. Check it out for a great lunch deal but I'd skip this place for dinner. 3.5 stars, really.

Here's the deal in wine country... if you don't make a reservation then expect to wait an unreasonable length of time for a table or sit in the bar. It doesn't matter how many empty tables you see, that's just how it is. And that's why Hurley's only gets four stars.

Other than that they earned each one of them. The bartender (that's right, we sat in the bar) was friendly and helpful. We pulled into town after a long day of driving and were only a little hungry. There were a couple of things we wanted to try and they were totally cool with plate-sharing... and even split the plates for us so there was no fighting over our dishes.

We started with the squash blossoms, which were stuffed with a goat cheese mixture and lightly fried. They were served over fresh green beans and a red pepper sauce. It was light, tasty, savory, and even better than I had hoped!

Next came the risotto with fresh peas and fava beans. It was creamy and delicious. If anything, it could have used a little bit of lemon. The fresh peas were sweet and seriously yummy. Splitting was a good way to go, as it was the perfect amount without leftovers.

Finally came the ice cream sandwich. This isn't the ice cream sandwich you got from the ice cream man on a hot summer day... it was so much better! The cookies were crispy and thin, and there was a layer of buttery praline filling as well. The raspberry coulis on the side was fresh-tasting and lovely.

The late night menu also looked great, and if we'd been staying in Yountville I have no doubt that we'd have returned.

Overall, the freshness and variety at Hurley's was wonderful, and it was a real bright spot during our visit to Wine Country.

Went back for group dinners and service was excellent both times. You really can't take a sip of water without someone right there filling up your glass. The only thing with their space is that if you have more than 36 people, then you probably have to split up into the two rooms in the back. If you have a smaller group, they have doors that close you off from the rest of the restaurant if needed.

I had the salmon, tried the rib-eye and also had the chicken entrees when I was there and all were excellent. Their sorbets are awesome and they have different flavors depending on when you go. The place is not expensive, they have a bar area and outside patio for lounging on those warm Napa nights and it's located pretty much in the center of Yountville, right near Bouchon Bakery.

If you want to do group dinners, they really do go out of their way to make sure you have everything you want and that the evening goes smoothly.

A group of 25 of us made a reservation for Friday night on the patio.  We were given a pre-selected limited menu that listed things in courses and lacked prices, implying it was a 3-course meal for a set price, which wasn't what the people who setup the reservation had expected.  After lots of confusion on what the deal was, we were just told we could order anything on the menu, even though most people had already decided what they wanted.

For appetizers, we went with the calamari and crab cakes.  The calamari was nothing special - heavily battered like what you'd get in any bar.  The crab cakes were strange and disappointing.  They were small and heavily fried, lacked flavor, and were covered with an orange drizzle that tasted like the chipotle sauce at Subway.  I've never had good crab cakes on the west coast, but this was a particularly poor showing.  We were happy with the salads, but have had much better there as well.

For entrees, practically everyone went with either the Ribeye steak or Ahi Tuna.  Both dishes were fine, but on the bland side.  You know your meal's a bummer when you get excited about the cabbage salad under the fish.  The ribeye was chewy and fatty, and accompanied by a side of risotto that seemed haphazardly thrown in.

Gratuity was included, and not surprisingly, the service was awful.  They kept our water glasses full, but that was the only positive.  Wine ran out halfway through, and requests to see the wine menu again got us a look like we were asking for a lung transplant.  Most of our group ended up spending a lot of time walking over to the bar and ordering their own drinks there.  Getting the final bill took an eternity.

Not one star because the food was overall OK, but I wouldn't come back here for dinner.

Never have I tried to dine somewhere with such failure. On two occasions over one weekend we were effectively turned away from this place. The first time was because we had too many people for the almost empty outdoor patio (12) we were told it was a fire hazard. The second time was when they couldn't seem to figure out how to put the table and chairs together for 12 people inside. We retired to the bar for just drinks when somehow we were all standing in the way. Apparently the bar area must be kept clear for the wait staff?? Bloody customers, always getting in the way. I wonder where they will be if they keep that attitude up?

Wow, excellent food with great flavor and presentation. I highly recommend this place. For those of you who complained about the place, it seems like you may have needed to stop at Mc Donalds instead. If you have not taste for good food and you go to a fancy restaurant, don't order a burger!  This is a high end quality gourmet restaurant. My husband and I were laughing at the table next to us where a guy ordered a burger!  What! and Why!  We were savoring our excellent food, Ahi Tuna, Wild Boar, and Oysters. The salad with polenta croutons was excellent. You have to go!

I've been here twice.  Coincidentally, both times were after a bike ride in Napa (the only two bike rides I've ever been on), so it was about early afternoon.  The first time was because it was located at the end of the Mustard Festival near where we returned our rental bikes.  The second time was because I was hungry, and again, it was near the bike rental place.

Both times the food was really good.  And their menu is my kinda food.  Mixed baby greens with goat cheese and candied walnuts.  Some sort of mozzarella sandwich.  Vegetarian friendly.  Both times, we shared appetizers so we can taste all the different yummy goodness.  And because you can only eat so much after exercise.

The second time I was there, I walked in with my water bottle.  They were quick to say that I couldn't bring it in because they are considered a fine dining establishment (seriously?, but then decided they didn't really care.  Ironically, as we sat down, I was sucking down the last of my water, still in need of hydrating myself after the bike rid,. and our server came to pour us water, and even offered to refill my water bottle.  Yes, the water bottle that I wasn't supposed to even have there.  How's that for friendly service?

Veggie friendly.  May depend on the menu because I think it changes every now and then.  But there are usually 3-5 substantial vegetarian options, excluding salads.

Not consistent at all. i go here frequently and either the food was great and the service was bad or the other way around. i want a place that i can rely on if i'm spending my money there with the high prices. its a waste of my money not to get that. At least the Napa Valley grille just down the road can do that and they know you by name after just a few times going there. if you are a local i would recommend going there.

I was OK with this place. Cool atmosphere...particularly the bar. Great place to unwind with a drink after a hard day of drinking for 8 hours :). We were kind of wined out, so we hit some cocktails.

The specialty drinks menu had some slightly interesting stuff on it, but it seemed to me like mostly sweeter stuff instead of innovative twists on classic dry cocktails. I stuck to a gibson. One guy hit up a drink that had cognac, vanilla vodka, OJ and sour mix in it, and it had a very Robitussin after taste going on. Doh. However, a different person in our party got a different drink that was way tastier.

The meals were interesting. Not a ton of vegetarian options on the menu (and only 1 that wasn't pasta). All the meals were of the "pile" variety. You know, like a bed of something topped with a cut of meat, which was then topped with some garnishy things.

In my case, I had a bed of risotto topped with swordfish topped with leeks & veggies. The risotto wasn't super impressive, nor was the swordfish, nor the leeks & veggies, but if you put them all together and took one big bite, the meal tasted good! So odd!! The other weird thing is that most of the other people I ate with had the same experience!! WAH!? So, whatever you do...don't ask for any special orders on the plate coming to you...you'll have a crappy meal for sure. Also, do like Forest Gump and eat everything in one big bite (just like peas and carrots), or you'll also be pissed.

I'm not against going back, but I'll probably scope out some other options too before my next Napa trip.

After touring the Mondavi winery, we were starving. We came across Hurley's which we thought was going to be just a regular restaurant with bar and not so fancy entrees. Much to our surprise, the food is spectacular.  We sat outside in the ivy covered patio, after a day with great wines, it was a beautiful afternoon and just perfect.

I won't go into full detail of the food, but between the 5 of us, we had calamari, wild mushroom risotto, braised wild boar, scallops, oakwood grilled prime rib, and pork chops. My dish was the braised wild boar. My first experience with wild boar, but it was fantastic. It was so tender it melted in my mouth. Seasoned perfectly. I did try a little of everyone else's and everything was fantastic. The bread they give you with olive oil is to die for. It was a variety of breads and it was all wonderful.  I wonder if they get the bread from nearby Brouchon.. does anyone know?

Please pay this place a visit. It is the perfect meal to compliment the wonderful Napa Valley.

This place has a nice small bar that isn't too crowded.  I'm actually neutral on the bar.

However, I'm not happy with the staff here and their bizarre behavior.  I had lost my camera the night before so was calling around to find it.  When I called Hurley's I explained I was looking for a lost camera and described the camera and case in detail.  They went to check and replied over the phone that there was a camera turned in but was not a brand match.  After calling around everywhere and still no camera, I was resigned to getting a new camera when my girl friends suggested that maybe I should go in person to Hurley's because the camera could have fallen down the chair I was sitting in without the staff noticing.  So we phoned again and asked if we could stop by.  Luckily they opened in 15 minutes so it was no problem.

When I showed up they let me check the chair but there was no camera.  I explained again that I had lost my camera.  They asked for details and I repeated the same thing I had said over the phone.  Except this time they said "bingo" and pointed at me.  They DID have my camera.  Their explanation was that they don't like to confirm over the phone that they have the camera without someone giving the details to ensure a match.

My problem.

1) They were very firm in that they did NOT have my camera even after I gave a detailed description.
2) They never asked me to come in just in case to confirm anything.

I don't know what kind of racket they're running - why bother to try and steal lost cameras?  OR  if they are really just rude and dim witted.

Only have had lunch there but my lunch was delightful.  Sat outside in the patio.  A great place.

I have been to Hurley's a few times now. While most of my visits are to the bar, I have had a few appetizers here. After a long day of wine tasting, I think Hurley's in a nice way to end the evening. This is Napa, so not a lot a places for late night entertainment. The bar has always been pretty busy and the service friendly. They actually have some fun cocktails and of course, they have a nice by the glass wine selection.
With so many great restaurants in the area, I don't think it would be my first choice for dinning.  However, if you are looking for a casual bite to eat and a drink, this is the place!

The outdoor dining area has a cool atmosphere - inviting and not too hot.  The food was kinda disappointing, based on the caliber of neighboring restaurants.  In fact, the starter bread was my favorite part of the meal.  The tomato and fresh moz salad was tasty, the burger wasn't (cold, hard bun and the meat didn't taste "of the highest quality"), and the "seared" ahi was cooked through.  Finally, the service leaves something to be desired.  We had to ask multiple times for soda refills, and were charged for each one.  All in all, not so great - but that was lunch on a Wednesday afternoon.  Maybe dinner is better.

We randomly picked Hurley's.  Didn't know it was Michelin rated.  The food was good.  I had a chicken breast and my girlfriend had the Mediterranean salad.  Didn't try to salad but the chicken was good.  It was a bit pricey thought. The atmosphere was pleasant.  We sat in the patio around.  There was no wait.  The waitress was a little slow but we didn't mind since we weren't in a hurry.

Exellent Everything!
This is the old location of Anesti's Grill, and Hoppers (also, not much worth in noting Live Fire Grill)... This location has finally come back to life thanks to an amazing Chef!
I'm writing this review because of the skewers and the fritters (and the BOAR, which is the specialty!)- Seriously grubbin food with a glass of wine or a beer!
The bar scene is great, when I'm staying in Yountville (at Villagio), I always make sure to check out Hurley's for a drink. The bartenders and servers are very friendly, and the folks at the bar are always having a great time.
I think that it is mostly locals, though I have met some very nice tourists as well...  The last visit I hung out with a group of couples all biking up the Valley (on their Harley cruisers), it was great to see these folks dressed in their leathers and drinking chardonnay- it is Yountville afterall!

One of the best deals at this place are the lunch specials which change to reflect what is fresh locally.  You get  to pick a first and main course from the menu.  If you order the special you can also get a glass of house wine for $6.  The meal is one of the best deals in the Napa Valley.
Dinners are great too - in fact my husband pleasantly surprised me last year and took me here for our anniversary.

Don't forget to order dessert here - they are consistently great!

hurley's gets an a-ok from me too. nothing spectacular. don't know why they got michelin mentioned or whatever. we shared a mozarella salad, it was ok. hubby got the angus burger, he said it was ok too. i think the bread or cornbread-like kinda bread was the best. i had their lunch special of poached tuna, purple potato and greens. the tomatoes were great, so was the egg and the purple potato was good, so were the olives. but i was sorta disappointed of the poached tuna. nothing to go home about.

This place didn't really do it for me. The braised wild boar is a cool/different menu item and was pretty good, but my soup was mediocre and not very hot.  Our server was friendly but a little scattered and didn't seem to know anything about the menu, which was frustrating.  There were lots of screaming kids in the dining room, which may not have been the restaurant's fault but still detracted from the experience.

Hard to justify with so many amazing restaurants in this area.

well work has been crazy hours the lately. So after a long Sunday, we drive up to Yountville facing an extra long 16 hour day. We finally get a chance to relax so our little group walks across the street from our hotel to here. The Marshall Blend wine is recommended by a co-worker and he didn't miss. While enjoying this beverage, a server walks by with sliders. They looked very good and we put in an order. These sliders turn out not to be a burger. We are guessing at the meat as it has a roast taste. To our delight, they sliders are braised wild boar. The onion strips have just a hint of cinnamon. The manage and bartender were two very fun women. We all had enjoyed our selves.
Seating. There is a dining area and outdoor. The place is nicely decorated. There is art work, paintings and photography, for sale.

Nahh. Lunch here at Hurley's was a very very poor way to end a superb two days in Napa. We had Onion Soup which was so sweet none of us could finish it. I then had a Boar stew, which was so so. However any restaurant worth their salt knows that Boar Stew (although it's one of my favorites) is a strictly winter dish. Apparently the burger was unbearable, as were the tomato and mozarella sandwiches.
If you can get into Bouchon, Jeanty, Ad Hoc or anywhere else, this is definitely the last resort....

Took a while to be seated at our table, and the bar staff was a bit off, but the dining experience was worth the wait. The house brand red was not the greatest...
Yountville is the official capital of dining in the Napa Valley Wine Region.  There are already more than enough fabulous choices in this idyllic setting. We were happily surprised at the variety, creativity, and wonderful taste of our food.  I chose the smoky grilled asparagus salad which was fantastic. It was a substantial size without being too large.  The dressing was fantastic and prosciutto garnish just the right compliment to the flavors.  My entree was shrimp ravioli in lobster sauce.  I do not order things like this very often. Although the pasta was slightly underdone, not al dente but a bit tough, the flavors were good. I don't like to complain or send back dishes.  If it was horrible, certainly. This entree was very good.
My dining partner had a salad as well and an entree of Antelope!  Whoa! Bold choice!  It was braised and dressed in a demi glace which balanced the savory taste.  Delish.
It is a very nice sized restaurant with a large outdoor heated patio which also has a fireplace.  Yountville is quiet and a wonderful place to stay and/or dine!

We came in here for dessert and drinks... recommended by our Concierge.  I never concur with the Concierge... they are in a ring of incentives. (Esp. in Asia) They insisted this was the scene for after dinner in Napa.

The service was very good... we sat at the bar section.  We all split the Ice Cream Sandwich!!! I don't really have a sweet tooth by nature but this was seriously heaven.  Better than... well not really but a close second.

Mateo L. said it right, with so many amazing restaurants in the area its hard to justify a higher score. There really wasn't anything wrong with Hurleys. The restaurant was lovely, the food was good as was the service but that's just it, there was really nothing special about it. The food was good but nothing special, a little bland actually (the scallops). I do think that the prices are little better, more reasonably that is, than other resturarants around. If it was any more expensive than I would've been annoyed. My bf seemed to like it, he's trying to convince to go back, not sure I will, I'll have to take another look at the menu.

If you go there, get something that will be grilled. You won't be dissapointed.  Plus, you will be able to wear your jeans and sweatshirt while you're there, and you won't be overwhelmed by the wine list, or the prices.  You'll just eat well.

Now, reviews of the service at Hurleys are middling, and I don't blame them. Our waiter was awesome and his service was spotless -- I'll put that right up front. However, when we showed up 30 minutes in advance of our (made on http://OpenTable.com an hour previously) 8:30 PM reservation, the cute-black-clad hostess told us that they actually had an open table and could seat us now, but was then immediately and fiercely reprimanded by the severe-fuschia-clad hostess that the 8:00 PM reservation was to be her "primary priority", and we were sent to the bar. It was totally lame and unprofessional, given that I had offered to hang out at the bar, acknowledging our early arrival, only to witness the squashing of the (cuter) new girl by the fuschia beast. (hence 4 instead of 5 stars)

Everything after that was pretty much dreamy, though. Soup was butternut squash with sage creme fraiche (you obviously can't argue with that) and the execution was flawless. We also got crabcakes, which were good, but I could have taken them or left them, in light of the soup. My sweetie got roast chicken that came with pearl onions and peas in caramelized-onion-truffle-jus, with bitchin' gruyere-etc mac-n-cheese on the side. I got venison with mushroom spaetzle, spinach, and red-wine-jus. We had one of the cheapest wines on the menu, but only as it happens, because we liked the rhone-style option: Jade Mountain "Au Provencale", which is a Mourvedre/Grenache/Syrah blend. And we had an ice cream sandwich for dessert that involved vanilla gelato and a butterscotch ribbon throughout that defied normal dessert description.

I have passionate things to say about all of those foods, but I'm going to talk venison, as that's what I ordered. The root of my recommendation of this restaurant is in the preparation of my venison "medallions", which were really large hunks of venison tenderloin. I ordered them medium-rare, and so they arrived -- perfectly. In addition, however, they were grilled very close to a very hot fire that had herb-wood (we're talking rosemary branches, people) in it. There was pure rare goodness in the middle and crisp, fatty, smokey, herby crust on the outside.  Make no mistake -- there was textural difference.  It was important.  Which is why I say unto you: Go to Hurleys. Order grilled stuff. Be happy.

The kicker is that we spent maybe a third of what you would spend for that many courses/equivalent amounts of food (for all the tasting-menu style restaurants in the area) pretty much anywhere up and down the street. We did drive by the famed French Laundry and Bouchon on our way back to the spa. I oggled, I'll admit. I've got the fricken Bouchon cookbook, for heaven's sake. But in the end, I feel like I hit the Hurley-pot, and I'm quite happy.

Hurleys has 3 great aspects.

Aspect #1 - Great outdoor patio. This is perfect place for a spring day or summer evening meal. For lunch i recommend the ceasar salad....it is absolutely delicious.

Aspect #2 - Great bar. I great palce to grab a glass of wine or a quick appetizer. It's easier to find a seat here in teh afternoon, can be packed in the evening.

Apect #3 - Great dining room. Beautiful rustic wine flavor, good broad menu, be sure to order desert and make a reservation. Can be crowded during the season.

All in all a great place for some classic American food. I have had hit or miss service here, which is why we are going with 4 stars.
