When your customers follow you 10 miles away because you chose to open a new restaurant, that's a sign of success. And that is what it is at Hunter House Cafe, which adjoins the Hunter House Inn and Suites, just 4 miles from Kerrville. The cafe is only open for breakfast and lunch from Tues-Sun. It is clean, tidy, attractive, with touches of western flavor. The wait staff, many of whom also followed the owners here, know most of the locals by name and enjoy great banter as they serve up home cooked meals to satisfy anyone. Breakfasts are huge, and the hash browns are the best I've found in the area. Affordable prices too!

Wow - this is a find. It is absolutely a greasy spoon with great comfort food. Nothing gourmet here. Just the basics, breakfast, chicken fried steak, chopped steak and burgers. The service is friendly and top-notch. The food is absolutely satisfying after hanging out on the river.
