I have only had breakfast here, so this is a 5-star breakfast review.
Great, friendly service. They have amazing homemade salsa, pumpkin butter and peach and strawberry jam. Let's put it this way - I had peach and I liked the peach jam.
I had a hash omelette and it was cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had a california omelette and it was good also.
Coffee tasted good and it was very affordable. Definitely a winner! -

For ambiance cute.
Salad was kind of plain tasting
My buddies mashed potatos were big but bland. I don't know if I would try again. -

Always been driving by Hungry Fox during the weekdays, saw the green little small restaurant and never imagined of coming here. But last Sunday after church with my sister and cousin, we were craving waffles and omlets, and instead of us driving all the way to Encino, we went here. Don't let the size of the green restaurant fool you. It does look tiny on the outside. Small parking lot in the back, but you can park on the street as well. When entering, the walkways are a bit tight, but the atmosphere is warm and cozy. It can get busy since they are only open for breakfast until about 3pm, I think.
Omelets were yummy and the french toast with strawberries & whip cream piled on top were oh so yummy in my tummy.
Will be back!
It's JAM GOOD!!! -

I love privately owned establishments...
This place is very cute..
The waitress was just a sweetheart, she kept telling me I'm sexy, that Dear lady...
I told her I didn't want toast because I'm trying to lose a few pounds but she insisted I try some of their homemade jams, and once again told me I'm too sexy to be on a diet..."Oh God I love this Lady"..lol...ofcourse I relented and ate the toast.
Oh and those jams are good....
Lots of choices, great breakfast spot..
I can't believe I haven't tryed this place before today but I will for sure be returning...if not only for the jam and that lady...then they also have a great breakfast menu....anything you want.
Support local privately owned business
5 stars from me for them....just because it made me happy to eat there. -

Whether they were short handed or just slow, the service was no bueno. The staff is nice but just not attentive, took a while to seat only 2 of us and took even longer for them to take our order. If I were any of the servers I would stop using the "just a minute" it only makes things worse when u keep a customer waiting. Can't say I'll ever be back.

Wait a second... Chicken and Waffles? Really..? This isn't Roscoe's... why do they..? But... they're... er... um...
Well, no matter. If they want to serve Chicken and Waffles, more power to them, especially considering it's one of the tastier things on their menu.
Hungry Fox is a good place to enjoy some breakfast. Not everything on their menu is perfect, but if you stick to their specialties, you'll do fine. The staff there is nice and friendly and there is plenty of parking available.
Just don't dine and dash... or else (see photo)! -

Been there once. The service was great and the Thai sausage was excellent. The place has a weird small-town-diner-in-the-city feel that I like a lot.

I was here today in the morning with three of my friends. I had the California omelet, which had tons of cheese and avocado. The people who work here were super friendly, but the food wasn't anything new. It's definitely better than Denny's, but not something I'm crazy about. The strawberry jelly was really delicious. I paid 9 ish for my omelet :) The hash browns were good too. I will be back though to try some of the dishes others on yelp have reviewed, like the hash.

I figure this place deserves a pretty good rating after I watched my friend Dave P. scarf down his breakfast in less than five minutes. According to him, his waffle/egg/bacon breakfast platter deserved a "darn good rating."
The California vegan omelet is delicious, but don't be fooled - even the "vegan" omelet is served with cheese. But what really makes breakfast good is the jam. It's all homemade! And I know, that's what all the other reviews say and you must be thinking, "Come on, can their jam REALLY be that good?"
Yes. Yes it can. -
Review from Liz T.
The boy was in the mood for some crispy hashbrowns and the yelpers led us here. The photos of the food looked great and we were really stoked to check out this NoHo staple.
We were seated quickly and began to look over the menu - which is HUGE! Sandwiches, salads, breakfast, lunch stuff...it was enormous. We ordered our drinks and began to pour over the menu.
Our drinks came and the boy took a sip of his coffee and made a face. He turned his cup around to find that he just put his finger into a clump of jam that was stuck to the side of the cup. We hadn't ordered food yet, but there was jam on the cup? Obviously the jam wasn't from our table...Was the cup poorly washed, or was it even washed at all? Who knows. The waitress was very apologetic but I was done. We left. -

Went in for brunch, i got the yelp eggs benedict special, husband got the belgian waffle combo, and we split a side of toast so we could try their homemade jams. I got my dish with the 'home potatoes', which were the only real dissapointment, but when i added some of their homemade salsa to them, they were instantly redeamed. The jams were amazing - they have pumpkin, strawberry, and peach. service is good, the place can get pretty crowded but its mostly an older crowd so it doesn't get to loud in there short of a few eccentric older gals. Deffinately an awesome breakfast joint.

I've only ordered take out here. The corned beef/scrambled eggs were good, but the strawberry/banana (?) jelly was wonderful! I like the vibe of the restaurant, too. The staff and other customers were very friendly. Next time I'm dining in.

My cousins and I pass by this place all the time, and decided it was time to eat here. The place looks like a quaint breakfast place inside and out. I was surprised that the restaurant is owned by Thai people, it doesn't make any difference but I thought it was cute.
We ordered:
The chicken fried steak (~$9) - The size of the steak was about the size of an 8oz strip, battered, fried, and covered in country gravy. It comes with either hashbrowns or home fries or fruit, eggs in your preferred style, and toast. The steak was like any other chicken fried steal but thankfully not too heavy. The home fries were crispy on the outside...delicious.
eggs benedict ($8)- Two halves of an English muffin, each topped with Canadian bacon, a poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. The plate comes with a side of hashbrowns or home fries or fruit. The eggs benedict was average compared to the eggs benedict I had at crepeville back in Davis. The hashbrowns were bland...
waffle combo (~$11) - Comes with two fluffy waffles, two sausages or 4 pieces of bacon, homefries or hashbrowns or fruit, toast, and eggs.
The service was super slow. We came in when the morning rush was dying down but the service was still slow. We were sitting right next tot he kitchen window and saw other tables getting their toast/waffles while we sat there waiting. We finally asked and the waitresses seemed to have forgotten, because they needed to be reminded what our order was.
Their homemade jams were hyped up. The strawberry tasted like strawberry banana, the peach tastes like the maraschino cherries out of the can of fruit cocktail, and the pumpkin has the consistency of peanut butter but tasted ok. There was also a jar of salsa on the table that couldn't save the bland hashbrowns.
Overall...cute breakfast place, but nothing too special, although I would come back for the waffles.Listed in: Sooo Cal- Eats and Nightlife

I really enjoyed this place. The servers were very friendly and I was seated right away.
The menu was easy to browse through and it didn't take long to decide that I wanted the the fried chicken and waffles.
The chicken was delicious! It was juicy, but not greasy. The batter on that fried skin was very good! The waffles had a perfect texture. My only complaint about the waffles is that the portion, for me, is kinda small.
I will definitely be back :-) -

People are great, very nice.
But I come from a family that's in the restaurant biz. My breakfast lacked taste. Cali omelet. Wife got pancakes, and hash. Nothing to write home about.
The place had good parking, and I really wanted to like this place, but at the end of the if the food isn't great, I can't give high rating. Try for yourself, because other yelpers seem to love it. -

Hungry Fox has become my regular day-after-fete'n-still-hungover-I-need-eggs breakfast spot. Friendly service, never seems to be too crowded at all. I'm a sucker for eggs Benedict and they have like 4 or 5 different kinds. I wasn't too pleased with the cornbeef hash Benedict, but the regular one is pretty darn yummy.
Come join me one of these Saturdays when I stroll in around 2pm looking like Who-Shot-John and still smelling like rum! Oh what I Hungry Fox I will be! :-pListed in: My NoHo Hood

To me, the homemade jam is really what set this place apart from everywhere else :) You make your own jam? Get outta here!
Little did I know that when I was young, I would grow up to be sitting here taking time out of my day to review a place about how good their jam is, but hey I cant complain.
A solid menu and friendly staff -

I found this place about 4 months ago. I've driven by it several hundred times but I never stopped in until one day.
I'm really picky when it comes to my pancakes. I like them well done in the middle, not runny. And they made them just as I requested.
The Ham and Cheese Omelletes are also very good. Cooked just right.
And the bacon? Its not greasy at all. Its perfect.
I would suggest this place to everyone. The home made jams are served daily. And the iced tea is always made to perfection. Yeah, right how can you miss up ice tea? Its possible.
We've met the servers Gina and Suzy, both very nice and warm ladies. Great food and service. Plenty of parking. -

Sherman Oaks, CA
One of the best and most consistent breakfast places I've been to, the Hungry Fox never disappoints. Always packed with an uncool but authentic mix of Valley Glen/Van Nuys laborers, ethnic families, properly dressed churchgoers, cholos with tattooes, and a smattering of others, the Hungry Fox presents a full array of breakfast and lunch foods, with some optional Thai touches.
First of all, we are ALWAYS warmly greeted, and it's obvious that your patronage is appreciated. And even though packed, it seems like there's always a seat immediately or within 3 minutes.
I LUV my ethnic food of many varieties, but I get a little picky when it comes to an America-style breakfast. A bit of a traditionalist. The first time I went years ago, I quickly noticed that it was a Thai-run place. And I thought? Thais cooking American breakfast?????? (Yeah, I know, just a bit Archie Bunker of me.) Now, this place is on Sherman Way, home to some exceptional Thai restaurants. And I eat Thai food all the time at all hours of the day and night. And here I was introducing a bit benign bigotry into my life in immediately questioning their competence with my beloved bacon and eggs. I apologize for that. THIS PLACE KNOWS WHAT IT IS DOING with American-style breakfasts.
They have every type of American breakfast you can imagine: omelets, bacon, sausage, pork chops, burger patty, fruit, toast, etc. And they've mastered these nicely. But what makes the place extra special ARE the ethnic touches, such as the Greek omelet or the Thai sausage. After all my American breakfast traditionalism, the latter is my favorite, a super-flavorful lean Thai sausage with a nice amount of heat in it.
They have homemade jellies and jams on the table, and everything seems to be cooked nicely every time. It really is like eating at Mom's. I've had more sophisticated breakfasts (which is why this gets a 4 and not a 5), but in the "home-cooking" variety, Hungry Fox is about the best you'll find. Comforting, yummy, and consistent! -

Hancock Park, CA
Yelpers are right about this place...It's a nice home-style diner. Very cute and the food is nice and fresh. Their jams are good (not as awesome as most would like u to think but I did like their peach) and the service is good. I have to see if their fried chicken with waffles can hold up to roscoe's.
I got the denver omelet. It was good, but I really think an omelet should come with cheese of your choice melted in. Overall, good. The menu has good variety which is a plus.
They really need to operate at longer hours. They could do so much more business and accommodate so many more customers who want to try them, but can't because of work schedules. -

I just got back from eating a delicious breakfast at Hungry Fox; today probably wasn't the best day to go being that it's Father's Day. Even though we waited a really long time to be helped the food made up for it. There were so many choices that I think I changed my mind about three times and I finally decided on blueberry pancakes.
I was not disappointed either; they were so good!!!! I saw them bringing out waffles to another table and they looked even better! I will definitely be going back to try everything else! -

This place is BREAKFAST HEAVEN! They have a pretty big menu with lots of yummy items but because I just love breakfast, I only get breakfast items. X] I came in with a group of 8 and the waitress took our orders in a timely fashion & was nice enough to split the checks.
I ordered the Mexican Fiesta Omelet with a side of hash browns and sourdough toast. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Especially the toast and their handmade jams!! The Peach jam was good but their strawberry jam was my favorite - and as good as the omelet was, I wished I had ordered a plate full of toast so I could eat the strawberry jam all day! [side note: they do sell their handmade Strawberry, Peach, & Pumpkin Jams] The coffee is pretty good too, I barely needed to put anything in it, it already had a sweet taste to itself.
The price to portion ratio is fair and I ended up taking half my omelet to go! Yum, I love having leftovers from a good meal =]
At first glance, Hungry Fox looks like an ordinary mom & pop shop but don't let it fool you, after having a meal here, your expectations will be met and passed. I definitely will be coming back again. -

Breakfast! Breakfast! Breakfast!
The only spot I go to for breakfast. Forget Denny's Forget I Hop.
I enjoy the Mom and Pop restaurant and do not mind supporting one.
Try the Belgian waffle. It is perfect, as well as there pancakes. Coffee is good as well as there OJ. Bacon is baked in the oven not fried. Also the Sausage is really good not greasy.
I have also had lunch here a few times and it was also good.
One of my favorite local haunts.
The staff is great always friendly. Warning it gets packed on the weekends. As for the weekdays, I am not to sure. -

I just happened to find this place as I was killing time while my boyfriend was at physical therapy. Not wanting to go to Denny's (ugh) or Norm's (yuck), I kept driving until I found something else.
It's not much from the outside, but inside...well, it's charming in it's simplicity. And it's definitely NOT a gross chain restaurant.
The menu is good and varied. I got "The Greens", an egg white scramble with spinach, zucchini and mushrooms. Super fresh and yummy. The jams were also great - the pumpkin butter was by far my favorite.
Service was super friendly and attentive. The waitresses seemed to know everyone's name. Lots of regulars at this place.
I'll definitely be back, but this time I'll bring my boyfriend.

Burbank, CA
The service is the worst. We came with a party of 8 and they brought out each dish individually 25 minutes apart from one another. I'm under the impression that they have some sort of random food generator that they have no control over whatsoever. The "chefs" sit at the delivery pod waiting for random food to come out and you get your order whenever the fates allow.
The food is good though. -

I really love the chocolate chip waffles here:) service is great and it's a cozy little diner. My son devours the chicken fried steak & my coffee cup is never empty.
Everyone is friendly & the food is so much better than any of the chain restaurants.
Give it a try for a casual breakfast or bring the kids & you'll see why this place gets so many good reviews. Very very relaxed atmosphere. Throw on your favorite pair of sweats & enjoy the fried chicken with a side of waffles!! -

Saturday Morning breakfast//brunch......my wife and I are always looking for nice breakfast spots and this weekend we found one. Hungry Fox is a great diner with a great family atmosphere. From the moment we walked in we were awesomely greeted and even though it was a full house the waiter was always attentive letting us know it would only be a couple of minutes. It took only about 5 min. to get seated and took bout 10min. to get our order going. The food was amazing. I had the strawberry waffle combo and my wife had chicken and waffles and they were really tasty. The waffles are really fluffy and just right. The waiters are freaking awesome....they are extremely attentive and always making sure your cup of joe is full and making sure you don't need anything else. I kid you not the waitress filled up my cup of joe like 4 times during my visit (I love coffee) it was perfect. Another great indication that this place was great was that my wife was happy and well let's just says she is really hard to please in the food department. I greatly recommend Hungry Fox. It is an amazing spot...great food and great prices.

Grabbed a late breakfast here with the boyfriend. Quiet, cosy, large menu, nice waitress...
I ordered a veggie omelet and it was perfect. Generous pieces of vegetables and not greasy at all. Light and yummy.
I thought their homemade jams (and salsa) were a little overrated, but still good.
My only complaint is the hours... If I have classes/work in the AM, there'll be no Hungry Fox for me. Is it asking too much for a nice diner to be open late? -
Review from Lucy K.
Ugh I have been wanting to try this place since I moved here. They enticed me with their signs of home made jams and soups but this place was so sub par.
I went for breakfast and saw the waitress scrape the black off a few toasts as well as reuse unused toast. I had silver wear that was dirty and the food wasn't that great i had an omlette but it was so mediocre. Didn't taste fresh or anything. Hash browns didn't even seem cooked all the way.
I would easily go down the street to norms rather than eat here again. -

Valley Glen, CA
Awful service. At our table of six people one person got their order in 20 minutes, another came at 30 minutes, three orders came out at 45 minutes (and one was wrong), my order came out at 55 minutes and it was wrong. Ten minutes later the correct order was brought out.
The strawberry jam tasted burned, otherwise the food "was just ok". -

This place makes you feel at home from the very first visit. Just like going over to a friends house and having a home cooked meal. Food is amazing and the service is the best! Waitress genuinely cared about my day and if I enjoyed my meal, and my glass of ice tea never made it past half empty without being re-filled!
I've had french toast, steak and eggs, and a lamb gyro.. All were exxcellent! -

San Francisco, CA
This place is in a sketchy neighborhood and I felt a little uneasy coming here. But I'm so glad I did! There was a small parking lot, but that's okay since there were plenty of street parking.
Service:
The service was great. They were friendly, kind, and respectful. I didn't have a problem with them.
Food:
I tried their famous dish corn beef hash and it was delicious! I usually don't like this dish, but the way they made it I loved it!
I also tried their jams, they were on par with the store-brought brands. So I wouldn't recommend getting their jams as a gift.
Overall:
I wish i didn't live so far from this place or else I would come here more often! Definitely would recommend this place as a breakfast place.
