Review from Amy B.
The Hungry Bear has had some bad luck recently but two arsons, spotted owls, and change of ownership hasn't shut this place down!
I love this place. You get a wide variety of people stopping - some that live in the area, others on road trips, lots of bikers enjoying the 101 scenery, and staff from the Girl Scout camp down the road. It makes for some interesting conversation starters if nothing else.
The Hungry Bear offers family fare in a country atmosphere. The burgers are generous and topped with Tillamook cheese and plenty of other great toppings. -

The food was ok but the service wasn't good, it took forever to get a couple of burgers. :(

Sadly, it appears that the Hungry Bear burned down within the last couple of years. I just visited the empty foundation this morning. But I'll write this review anyway in it's memory.
I have many very fond memories of the Hungry Bear. This place was like a second home to me. It'd been around FOREVER. And I do mean forever. We started doing fishing and crabbing every summer up to Hoodsport and stopping at the Hungry Bear for breakfast when I was 7 years old...I'm 32 now!
The portions were huge, the service is fast and friendly, and the place had so much character in it's little country kitchen look with the teddy bears and taxidermied black bears all over for decoration, that you just got a warm feeling all over. It even had a little gift shop attached.
Going to miss you very much, Hungry Bear. May someday you get rebuilt and bring back the good times and good food again.
