There is no hyperbole in the following statement: Hunans of Mincoqua, WI is the greatest Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. Let's put it like this: my choice for a last meal would be the wonton soup, fried dumplings (more on the dumplings to follow), and Schezwan shrimp. And, hey, how 'bout some cashew chicken on the side?
Oh the dumplings....my god the dumplings! If there is one universal truth in this world it is that everyone agrees that the fried dumplings are the most delectable satchels of pork in the land. They are a necessity. If you do not order them you are missing out on the best thing on the menu.
As a side note, if you go between 11-3pm, the lunch menu items are ridiculousness cheap and heaping. Egg roll, soup, and a (large) entree will cost you $5.95 to $6.50.
Having recently moved closer to Chicago, one would think I would have stumbled upon a superior Chinese eatery than one in Podunk Wisconsin. Alas, I have not. And honestly, I don't think I ever will. -

The food here is mediocre at best in my opinion. The Crab Rangoon was a little on the flavorless side and not enough sweet and sour sauce was provided to liven it up. Sesame Chicken was... OK. Nothing to write home about. The egg drop soup was cold, and the service was very inattentive, and slightly argumentative when we tried to order ala carte. Overall the meal was disappointing, but I think the place has potential.... maybe we just hit it on an off day, to be fair, I will give Hunan Restaurant another try, but am hoping it will be much better next time. And if so, will certainly update this review.

I love Hunan's. I've loved it most of my life. I live in Chicago now and it's a funny funny world when Hunan in good ol' Woodruff is better than most the restaurants we frequent in Chinatown.
In the 15+ years I've been dining at Hunan I've never had a bad meal. Never. It's been through several ownership changes over the years, yet it remains it's yummy, smoothly run self!
Also, I must note, they are incredibly accommodating of large groups. Don't forget to consider Hunan's for your next Birthday celebration, graduation dinner, etc! -

Good food at a great price.
I eat here almost weekly when I'm home. While Hunan isn't the pinnacle of Chinese dining, the food is very good and the prices are ultra reasonable. Lunch combos run in the 6-dollar range and includes a spring roll and soup!.. -

Went here thanks to Tiffany's yelp review and we were all very pleased. It was better than our wildest dreams of Chinese food in Northern Wisconsin.
