The Salvation Army. Saver's. Arc. These are all great thrift stores whose revenue goes toward good causes. But for my money, no thrift store is more worthy than the Humane Society. This is where I donate all of my old clothes and furniture.

This store, of course, may not have as wide a selection as Saver's, but you're sure to find what you're looking for here.
