Hui No'eau is an amazing visual arts center and school in upcountry Maui. The estate alone is worth visiting as a slice of history harkening back to plantation days which, for better or for worse, are disappearing throughout Hawaii.
It's true I haven't had the pleasure of visiting in some years but there's no indication of change for the worse (in fact, it's probably changed for the better with the completion of separate buildings for the different art needs). I have fond memories of attending art classes at the Hui, from courses in pastels, to collage/diorama, and basic ceramics. Remind me to thank my parents for driving me upcountry weekly to take these classes.
I recommend a visit for yourself to support the Hui and it's invaluable contribution to artists of all ages. You won't regret the trip.
