Amazing meals and yummy desserts. There is absolutely nothing on Hugh Gromans menu that I do not like. Everything is de lish. I would highly recommend Hugh to anyone!

What astonishing meals. What impressive service. What beautiful arrangements, stylish place settings, and upscale appetizers. What incredible desserts.
Hugh catered an event for Mills last week, and guests, staff, and hosts could not possibly have been more pleased.

Serving fancy restaurant quality food for hundreds of people all at once takes serious kitchen ninjaeity. Not catering fancy, I'm talking restaurant fancy. Hugh and his crew bring the leet skills.
Hire him to cater your wedding and you can stop worrying about the food starting now.
It will be perfect. -

Hugh was instrumental in helping us plan food and drink for our wedding at the palace of Fine arts in July. The salmon and frittata were delicious. We had our own wine and Hugh used his infinite wisdom to gauge that we needed more champagne and less white wine.
we literally ate all the food he prepared with just a bit to take home for a snack, nothing wasted. The amount of wine and champagne we purchased on his suggestion was perfect. We had 3 bottles of red and about 9 bottles of champagne and white left over ....just enough to gift to the special people who helped out. I could not have imagined a better day or experience for our special Day
His food is very affordable yet taste like you spent a fortune!! -

I've used Hugh for a few years now for work events. He doesn't disappoint. Everything is meticulously presented and put together. He's on-time and always prepared for anything.
The food is fresh and delicious. I can't say enough about him-- let him do his magic. It'll be one less thing you have to worry about, and your guests will thank you. -

AMAZING! Hugh catered my wedding this last weekend and everything was fantastic. This was not easy, we had a wide range in guests from foodies to um...the meat and potatoes crew. Hugh helped us build a menu with something for everyone. He even suggested we do a kids menu, by request. [The grilled cheese and fruit salad was a huge hit with the 6 and under crowd]
I was getting compliments all night, and for days to follow, not only on how amazing the food was, but on how nice all the caterers were! The timing of everything was perfect. Thank god, he suggested we open the bar as soon as guests arrive- it was the hottest day in 15 years!
There were a few logistical bumps in the road on our end- but Hugh rolled with them and could not have been more pleasant or gracious!
I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants food that is fresh, in season, beautifully presented- without being too che-che.

I have to be honest, I usually have very low expectations of catered food. In my experience, nothing is ever hot enough, dishes are bland and safe to accommodate all palates, and there's never enough to go around. So, when this caterer was suggested for an upcoming office party, I shrugged and hoped for the best.
But, looking on the website and seeing the options from Hugh Groman Catering made me a little more hopeful. The dishes looked fresh, flavorful, and unique. So, I threw in my two cents about my preferred dishes and, in the end, was very pleased. There is nothing more amazing than the Filet Mignon sandwich on puff pastry with a parmesan truffle aioli. I ate at least 4 of them, and then packed away another 4 to take home. The potato and caramelized onion fritatta was also very good. I'm not generally a fan of salmon, but their horseradish sauce and fresh chives made me question my biases against the pink fish. The salad was good, the champagne vinaigrette was tasty, and it remained fresh and bright throughout the evening.
Best of all, they provide compostable to-go boxes and come to pick up everything later on at your convenience. I would absolutely choose them in the future. -

Thanks, Hugh! My mom's 70th birthday party was a great success, thanks in large part to you and your wonderful staff.
I am so impressed with this catering company. The food was delicious, unique, appealed to everyone, and was pretty to look at. Hugh was organized, responsive, and reassuring, even with my last-minute anxiousness. The event staff he provided were friendly, professional, and inspired so much confidence that I was actually able to forget everything and enjoy the party. I got so many compliments on the food, which were completely undeserved, because all the credit goes to Hugh.
I especially liked that Valerie set aside a little tasting menu for my mom, so that she would be able to try everything, just in case she was too busy enjoying her friends to sit down and eat. That kind of detail showed up throughout the event.

Hugh helped plan and run our wedding and reception. I was extremely pleased by how much time he put in with us (two meetings and another consultation at the site to pick out the colors and dishes/flatware). His menu was fresh and exciting and he was willing to work with us on specific ingredients we wanted and didn't want. His menu is huge and I'd have loved to sample more of the dishes. He even had someone track my food and beverages (since I was the groom) so I wouldn't have to.
At the end of the day we got everything we wanted, including some really incredibly well cooked sliders, and he took care of everything at the event from setup of all the chairs to clean up after everyone had left.
I would absolutely recommend his services. I can't speak highly enough about it. He understands weddings really well and helped us understand the things that we had to do that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. -

full disclosure: this review is based on food taste only. i have not used their catering services.
i recently attended their open house. wow, such fantastic california cuisine. Hugh Groman offers a full line of catered food, including appetizers, entrees and yummy desserts. I sampled their spring rolls, ahi tuna on crackers, bacon wrapped cheese, and a host of other finger foods. all samples were rich in flavor, visually appealing and reflective of attention to detail.
extra kudos to Hugh Groman for running a green-friendly business.
they will be my first choice to cater any social event. -

Wow! The food was the high point of my day - Hugh Groman met our needs for gluten free and vegan participants with food that had the group clamoring for more! No dried out "conference" chicken here. The veges were beautiful and tasty and the protein (vegan and fried chicken) sumptuous. I will definitely use them again.

I've been a few parties that used Hugh's. They are amazing! Not only is the food wonderful and mouth watering, but their staff is so sweet! The wait staff is great. Their drinks were also great... come on now home made ginger-ale?! Can you get any better?

I went to a wedding he catered; and the fish tacos were so delicious. I kept going back for more. I think they had mango and avocado and they were so fresh, creamy, tangy and zippy. Everything else was spectacular. There wasn't any line for food. All the servers were super nice. I'd definitely hire him if I had the occasion.

I put Hugh to Groman Catering the ultimate test. Our wedding needed to be relocated because of Swine Flu (it was planned for Mexico) six days out from the event.
Now it had to be in California Wine Country. We were moving at lightning speed. Could he put together a team and a menu and plan in half a day?
The answer was yes. He did it, when the other two caterers couldn't. That's how responsive he is. And the menu was amazing.

Our wedding was perfect in every way, and Hugh was no small part of that. We are so glad that we picked him out of the bunch. Naturally we selected him for his food, which was great, but what we didn't know was how much he would help the day of the event. What did we worry about? Um, nothing. Everything was timed perfectly, everyone raved about the food, he was a pleasure to work with, everyone's galss was full, the place looked great, what more could you want? And the cupcakes were a hit. Thanks Hugh.

Hugh is a real foodie. His food was the best I tasted among the caterers we considered. I'm going to reiterate what other reviewers have stated that the food is restaurant quality not your normal buffet spread. Everything at the tasting was so fresh and vibrant tasting and the carrot cupcakes were heavenly--so moist and tasty! Unfortunately, since we changed our wedding location from our backyard to napa, the additional cost of setting up a mobile kitchen made it out of our budget and we had to choose another caterer closer to our venue.
That doesn't change how I felt about his food though--I loved, loved it! -

I would say that the food at my wedding was the only thing I actually cared about, and I contacted a ton of caterers, both high-end and not, before i picked Hugh Groman. He came over to our house to discuss what we were looking for, and the menu he came up with afterwards blew everyone else's away.
The food was amazing, the staff was efficient, professional, and friendly, and my wedding was perfect in every possible way.
I highly recommend the scallops (which were fat and delicious and plentiful), the shrimp tacos, and the ahi tuna for appetizers, among the other excellent dishes they prepared.
You can't go wrong picking Hugh and his team. -

Not only does Hugh make delicious food and present it beautifully, he also cares about the community and giving back. Hugh and his team catered an evening party for our nonprofit organization (probono) last weekend and went well above the call of duty. The fried chicken was crispy and delicious, the orzo salad was terrific, the white bean and arugula salad with shrimp was perfect, and the dessert bars were "to die for." It was a perfectly conceived menu. I will hire Hugh for my next event!

Hugh Groman Catering is the best I've worked with! With less than a 24 hr notice, with panache and compassion he delivered a beyond expectation buffet for my father's memorial. His staff was personable and professional, and the food both interesting and delicious.

Hugh provided catering for my 40th birthday party last year. The food was simply incredible. The service was the very best from drop off, presentation to pick up, he was great. Additionally, he uses all green resources and disposes of them for you. I still get compliments about the food! Stop your shopping and call Hugh today for your next party!

We hired Hugh to cater an event for the organization where I work, and it was the best decision we could have made. He did an amazing job, and was flexible, creative, and resourceful. He and the entire staff were incredibly sweet and a joy to work with. The food was excellent! Everyone raved about how good everything tasted, and how beautifully it was presented. And the prices were surprisingly reasonable. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Hugh and his staff catered my September wedding and everything was perfect. He was delightful to work with, I wanted the decision making process about food, linens, silverware, glassware, chairs, etc to go quickly and it was perfectly smooth. Hugh said the process could take as much, or as little time as I would like. He was a good listener and everything turned out as we hoped, he was also very responsive as the date grew closer. As for the wedding dinner - perfect, perfect, perfect. Food was great, gorgeous presentation, wonderful staff. My favorite moment was when my nephew, who doesn't eat much, was standing by the kitchen, I asked him what he was doing and he said "waiting for more crabcakes." I told someone on the staff and they made a special plate of crabcakes for him. My other favorite moment was when I was fluttering around talking to people and Hugh came out with a little tray of appetizers just for me. He knew that brides don't eat, but that if he came out with a plate for me I would take him up on the offer. It was perfect.
