Came here for New Years eve with my boyfriend and it was absolutely amazing, every detail. From the second I walked in I loved it there. The  ambiance is low key, relaxed, but refined. The service was superb - especially because of how busy it was. I was extremely impressed. The food was cooked to perfection.

For an appetizer we shared tomato and mozzarella which was simple and tasty, as it should be. My boyfriend had a 22oz shell steak which he was extremely pleased with as it was cooked to perfection. I had a lobster ravioli in a shrimp sauce which was delightful and playful. The raviolis were striped and garnished with an orchid. Absolutely gorgeous presentation and simply delicious. And we finished off with a few cocktails and creme brulee which was delicious and definitely a large enough portion for 2.

Overall, I left here completely happy. This restaurant completely exceeded my expectations. I do not have one complaint.

Went here tonight to celebrate a friends birthday.

    What we sampled:

Bread with butter (usually doesn't need to be mentioned, but everybody loved the butter that came with the bread, but their was very little for the size of the bread basket)

Hanger steak with shitake mushrooms and a merlot demi with garlic mashed potatoes (delicious and an ample portion.  Each person commented that the steak was cooked exactly to their liking.  The mashed potatoes were also delicious).

Short ribs with gorgonzola mashed potatoes and glazed carrots (overall this dish was just alright.  The short ribs were tender, but didn't have much flavor.  The mashed potatoes tasted like nothing, I would have preferred the garlic mashed from the hanger steak.  The worst was the glazed carrots which were actually baby carrots not cooked enough so that they were hard in a sickly sweet almost maple syrup.)

Overall the experience was good. The food was good and the waitress was efficient, but for the price point their are many other places to try in the area.

My family frequents Hudson's Mill for two reasons...the service and the food!

This place serves mostly seafood, but they do offer a few alternatives to ordering a seafood entree. Everything here is good to great, but the specials here are always fantastic. The waiters are very knowledgeable, so when they recommend something, take their advice. I did and I had some amazing ahi tuna sushi with an amazing spicy sauce and some ginger, an incredible seafood chowder, and mouth watering lobster bisque. And to top it all off the service is always top notch. My parents are such regulars here that they request the same waitress every time and just about the entire staff knows who they are. Wine selections are also great and I'm often trying something new and enjoying it (coming from someone who often orders a coke). Hudson's Mill is great!

News Channel 12 Voted this place the #1 Restaurant on Long Island to Bring a Date!!

See, this is the type of hard nose reporting that most news networks would be afraid to report, not News 12. Who needs Zagat's or the Food Network when you have the highly reputable & Emmy award winning News Channel 12 giving you the skinny on our local eateries??  Obviously I am being obnoxious.  I don't know about you, but I only watch News 12 for Elisa Distefano and if we ever dated I probably wouldn't bring her here. But this place is really nice. It is quiet and unassuming and has quite a bit to offer. I would certainly consider bringing a date here one day...just not my sweet Elisa.

I checked this place out during restaurant week and apparently so did everyone else. It  was like a Mega Death mosh pit  when we first walked in. The crowd was older so it was more like an Elton John crowd but you get the point. It might have just been a huge party though b/c after a few minutes the standing area thinned out and from there it was only a 25 min wait. The bar is a nice looking wine bar  with a pretty extensive collection.  I am not sure if it compares to City Cellar or Novita... but it's nice. Yea, I'm classy...what's up?  Not too many beers on tap, but I am sure you won't go thirsty.

We reviewed the menu while we waited so when we were seated we were ready to go. Looking around we saw a few people eating off the restaurant week menu so we got ideas from that too...and by the time we were seated we were ravenous. In the end I ordered the mussels (which were outstanding), the short ribs (very good), and the NY style cheesecake (also very good). A blend of foods which prob should never ever be combined, but I loved it.  No complaints.  Bring your ladies, but stay away from Elisa.

Excellent food and service.   One of the nicer places in this area.

The filet mignon and salmon were nearly perfect, and the crab cake appetizer was a hit as well.

Desserts:  Chocolate layer cake and apple streudel were also perfect.

    A great restaurant.   Recommended.

Nice ambiance.  Service is average.  The $21.95 price fix during the week is a good deal.  Includes salad, entree and dessert.  Highly recommend the short ribs with mashed potatoes.  They were tender and delicious.

I wasn't overly impressed by anything, but a solid eatery if you are a local.  A step above the pub type establishments around.

Pretty satisfied, I must say. the main course I had (angus shell steak special with crabmeat) was super tasty. the clams oreganata appetizer was not however. way too liquidy, lemony, and too much bread crumbs. I've had way better. while waiting at the bar for our table I got a cosmo for my girl and a corona for me.....$21. wow....really? drinks are horrendously marked up

oh, also, the place was packed and was VERY loud. the acoustics of the place may just be that way but I'm a musician and on stage every weekend, and I needed my earplugs to have dinner there.

I'll try the place one more time because my shell steak was fantastic but I long for a better experience the next time around or that's it for me

    Amazingly good.

I have had this place on my list of places to go for some time now - and I am kicking myself that I did not get in here sooner.

The place is really two places in one- you have a great bar area that is gorgeously done and to top it off, they have "Tony the wine guy".  Tony is beyond any bartender I have ever met - he knows wines inside and out and Hudson's allows him to really work with the wines by the glass to create an incredible atmosphere.

Tony actually has his own wine consulting business in addition to  perfectly matching you to a wine to suit your tastes.

One the other side is the main dining room.  That room is also very beautiful:  warm and welcoming is a good way to put it.

The food:  Outstanding.  Whether it is something small at the bar or a full blown entree, the food is perfectly presented and cooked to perfection.

The prices are mid range but once you factor in the excellent wine and oh- did I mention the live music on Thursdays?

The crowd at the bar are also fun - we met some very cool people in span of 3 hours.

All in all this place is a must.

    Parking lot around the perimeter.

    A thoroughly dependable dinner spot!

I've been to Hudson's Mill quite a few times, and I've always enjoyed eating there.  Hudson's Mill serves a variety of salads, soups, sandwiches, and standard entrees.  I enjoy their burgers, and their fries are very tasty.  I tried a penne vodka special on a whim (I usually stick to Italian restaurants when I want Italian food), and it was quite respectable.

Hudson's Mill isn't exciting, but it's a nice place to go for dinner.  Service is consistently good, and it's a good place for dates or for groups.  They also have an extensive wine selection.  Cheers!

Hudson's Mill is a very nice LI find.  We came for a friend's birthday and the experience was very good.  We only had to wait about 30 minutes for a table on a Friday evening, and they had a pretty large bar area where we were able to wait.

Their wine list is decent, and the menu has a varied selection. During my visit  I tried the six onion soup (french onion, basically), and it was very flavorful.  For an entree, the blackened shrimp wrap with homemade chips was also very good.  My dessert was the apple/cranberry/walnut tart, and it was fine, but not as tasty as I would've hoped. My friends enjoyed the burger, fries, penne alla vodka, and for dessert, the nutella crepe and creme brulee, which they loved.

Overall, I'd rate this place around 3.5 stars because I felt that the prices were a bit high for LI, and the food, while very good, wasn't extraordinary.  What easily brings this restaurant to 4 stars was our waitress.  She was amazing.  I have never encountered a more friendly, kind, funny, or eager to help server, and she really made our experience worth the while.

I was in LI on business travel, and was in the mood to dine. Not at Tom, Dick or Harry's Diner (which there are multitudes of), but at a nice restaurant with a warm atmosphere. I found it at Hudson's Mill.

The place was much smaller than I expected, but inviting. As I was alone, I chose to eat at the bar. The bar area is very nice with comfortable chairs and the full dinner menu available. I tried the mussels (excellent), the 6 onion soup (one of the best I've ever had), and the filet. My only complaint was the the filet was not the tastiest cut of meat. However, it was cooked to perfection.

All the staff were extremely friendly, Bartender Sal was nice to talk. Prices are high, but what is cheap on LI? If I ever find myself in the area again, I would definitely come back.

My fiancee and I had dinner here for the first time. We live in the East end of Long Island and had to go to Massapequa for an appointment. After reading the reviews on here, we decided to give it a try while we were in town. We were pleasantly surprised and look forward to dining there again in the future. This is what we had:
Appetizer: Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls. They were delicious and different. Served with a blue cheese dressing.
Entrees: 1. Panko crusted chicken - a little oily, but very good. Served with heirloom tomatos and balsamic drizzle. 2. Short Ribs with pinot noir sauce was amazing. Could have used a little more sauce, but otherwise great. They were served over gorgonzola whipped potatoes and rosemary carrots.
Side: Steak Fries - weren't really steak fries - more of a potato cut in four wedges. They were weak - no seasoning and dry.
Dessert: 1. Apple Strudel with Cinnamon Ice Cream .... so YUMMY! 2. Chocolate Layer cake - was okay. A little dry and needed something else - like a sauce or nuts. But it was good.
Service - Waitress was very attentive and good.
Atmosphere - a little loud, but to be expected on a Friday night.

My husband and I went to Hudson Mill for the first time this past Saturday night. A couple walked in right before us, were seated right away and then we were seated right after them. We received water and bread a few minutes after sitting. We reviewed the menu, decided what we wanted and waited and waited and waited for someone to take our order. The couple who sat down moments before us had received their appetizers before anyone checked in on us to take our order. The couple sitting right next to us got their dinner and finished eating and still no one had come to take even our drink order. Finally, after twenty minutes, we flagged down a bus boy and asked that he send our server over. He went to the hostess and told them we had been waiting and that no one was helping us. The hostess didn't seem to get anyone nor did either of them come up to us to apologize for the wait. We waited another five minutes and left. No one approached us as we were walking out to apologize. We were ready to order a bottle of wine, two appetizers and two entrees and dessert because the menu looked really good. But we will never go there ever again. Never in my life have I experienced such ridiculous service. Hudson Mill lost very good customers and they will probably lose more if they do not do something about the terrible service.
