Houston's is definitely on the high end, but it was a client lunch so you have to take them to a nice place. And a nice place Houston's is.

We arrived at our appointed reservation time (they take limited reservations) to find people waiting outside. I'm so glad I had made a reservation. We got a lot of stares as we were escorted to our table almost immediately.

The service was excellent. We each ordered Iced Tea which was never empty. (They brought a fresh glass each time!) My clients both ordered Chicken Sandwiches which they really liked and the server accomodated a couple special requests. I had the seared tuna which was out of this world.

After a great lunch I was able to take my clients through the presentation I'd prepared without feeling rushed by the server. Ultimately we spent about 1 1/2 hours at the table and it was never an issue even though the restaurant was busy.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in DFW. We always celebrate a birthday here or we come her when we are dying for a good steak.

They always manage to cook my steak exactly like I like it "medium rare".
I also always go for the bake-potato with everything on it.

Besides the steak I always love to eat there cheese bread. Caesar salad is also tasty here, and they use bottle water here instead of tap water which is a huge plus.

I went here for a friend's birthday.  The food was good, but not great.  When I pay that much money, I also think the service should be a little more attentive.  We had to wait quite a while for our wine and our server wasn't that helpful when it came to choosing a wine to accompany our meal (and she was the bartender).  I would probably come back again, but not for a special occassion.

Houston's food and service is consistently good.  Isn't that what you are looking for in a restaurant?  Great for business meals, dates, evening out with family and/or friends.

I have extended family in Addison, and I've had the chance to dine at Houston's many times. I've not once had a bad experience. The wait staff is fantastic: they are very friendly and seem to take a genuine interest in the well being of patrons.

That being said, the menu is exquisite. By far the best item on the menu is the Copper River Salmon, but of course, it is only served when in season (in the summertime).

When the Copper River salmon is out of season, I like to start with a home smoke salmon appetizer. Another favorite is the Chicago-style spinach dip with chips.

The Hawaiian rib-eye is perhaps the most satisfying rib-eye I have ever tasted. Make sure to order it medium, though. Anything less is too rare. It is served with a loaded baked potato. If you're looking for something a little lighter, they have an excellent french dip and great burgers, too. I've not had the chance to try any of their salads, but I hear great things about the club salad. To finish the meal, I like the warm five-nut brownie, but make sure you ask for two spoons: it's big and you'll want to share it.

All of this great food is completed by a full bar and complete wine list.

While I enjoy ribbing on my native Texan friends that it should be pronounced "How-ston's" and not "Hew-ston's," I don't particularly enjoy frequenting this Houston's location.

I was first introduced to the chain in NYC, where I was very impressed with the quality of the food, ambiance, service, and value.  And there, we always pronounced it "How-ston's." =)

When I found this Houston's down the street from where I work, I looked forward to giving it a whirl.  I didn't get to sample the place until my third visit because of the ridiculous waits exceeding 30 minutes each time I went.  I didn't mind since I recalled the place was pretty good.  On my third visit, I managed to squeeze myself and some family friends in for lunch.

The ambiance was pleasant, similar to the NYC locale - dark woods, leather seats, etc.  We sat in a cute corner booth by the bar and had a friendly waitress serve us.  My family friends ordered a seared tuna salad, pork chops, while I ordered the French Dip.  While my family friends liked the food, I really thought the quality of the food fell short of my experiences at the Houston's outpost in NYC.  You could have blindfolded me and I would have thought I was eating at a Denny's.

Given the massive wait, I wouldn't recommend coming here for a full meal - it's just not worth it.  Drinks and appetizers are fine, but if you're looking for a similar experience, but with much better food and a shorter wait, I'd recommend Catalina on Lemmon Ave.

Some girlfriends and I went here a couple weeks ago thinking we'd just walk in and get a table for the three of us.  I fought through the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd to make my way to the hostess, only to find out that it would be a two-hour wait.  Uh...no thanks.

We still wanted to try it, so this time, we called ahead and made reservations.  This is the way to go.  We arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation and were seated precisely on time, while other people were sitting around enduring multi-hour waits.  I don't know why anyone waits multiple hours to eat at Houston's.  It's good, but it's NOT two-hour-wait good.  Seriously, people.

I had the chicken sandwich because I can't afford the regular entrees.  It was delicious, but a little overwhelming.  They basically plopped an entire half-chicken onto a bun.  Skin and all.  I was a little shocked.  But I finished the whole thing, and even helped out a friend with her pile o' fries.  (Yes, I am an Eating Machine who doesn't believe in diets.  But really...get the fries.  They are fantastically skinny and well-seasoned.)

Service was very polite...almost weirdly so.  The hostess was super chatty and wanted to know all about our day as she walked us to our table.  Whenever someone at our table went to the restroom, the waiter would come over, pick up her napkin, re-fold it, and put it neatly on the table.  Can you say OCD?  It was both thoughtful and amusing.  And a little awkward while he stood there looming over our table silently folding napkins.  Kinda killed the conversation every time.  But anyway.

Bottom line?  Make reservations, and be prepared to either eat a burger or shell out $$$ for a regular entree.  They have a nice wine list, but I think the cheapest glass was $10...which is a little weird, since even fancy restaurants have glasses for less than that.  It's kinda like Houston's is trying a bit too hard to be upscale when they're really just a fancy Chili's.  You just gotta roll with that if you're gonna eat here.

Alittle disappointing. Came with Gab for both our birthdays. The prime rib was more fat than meat. Flavor was good though. Sundae was decadent.

Oh, I just love Houston's - and this is my favorite location, too.  I'm a huge stickler for service & precision, & Houston's has always had it all down pat.  If you appreciate just-attentive-enough service, Houston's will make it so that you want to tip huge AND leave with a big smile on your face.  That's a good restaurant.

I'll have the Double-Cut Pork Chop, cooked medium, ordered with no salt or seasoning, substituting the couscous for seasonal vegetables.  Also, their Roasted Prime Rib is wonderful, as is their Grilled Chicken Salad.  The Center Cut Filet done rare with no seasoning with steamed spinach ... another incredible meal.  I also love their Cheeseburger with double cheddar, with added avocado and double *that*, with no bun, and substitute the side of fries with sauteed spinach, all with no added salt.  Everything is prepared to perfection.  (PLEASE try the Sautéed Spinach & Broccolini side dishes.)

If by any chance you wanted your Hawaiian Rib Eye or the Barbeque Pork Ribs prepared without the sugary barbeque sauce & prefer two healthier sides over the entree's customary cole slaw & fries, done.  You'll never hear the word "can't" at Houston's - and that's why I keep coming back.  For the travel enthusiast, the food & service is every bit as superlative at the L.A. & NYC locations as well.

I just went yesterday - and as usual, I'm ready to head back.

Food:
Delicious! They have never failed us once and are very consistent when it comes to their dishes.

My favorites:
The sashimi tuna salad is amazing! The vinaigrette, the fish, the avocado, and the delicious mango makes this a dish to remember. This is full of  flavors that makes it a surprisingly good combination.

The french dip au jus. This sandwich consists of nicely thinned prime rib on a french bun. What makes this dish so wonderful is the sauce that comes with it. Can we please take some home?

Next, the Hickory Burger, my boyfriend's all time favorite. I tried 1/8th of this thick and juicy burger. It had Canadian bacon and chopped cheddar (which there is an abundance of -just the way he likes it) that came with hickory sauce. He opted out of the onions because he doesn't like them, but I'm assuming it would have tasted even better (if that is possible).

My friend had the slow cooked, fall-off-the-bone, pork ribs. Apparently he is a connoisseur of  ribs and rated this very well. Coming from him that is a compliment because he is blatantly harsh when it comes to critiquing his food. I never tried it, but it did look scrumptious and I made a mental note to try it once I head back to Houstons.

For the side dishes, fries (nicely thinned and seasoned) and couscous complement the meal very well, but If you only want one side get the couscous! It's sweet and tangy, and when I finished it I was disappointed because I wanted some more!

Atmosphere:
I recommend coming here for a date, a girls night out, or a family dinner. Be sure to make a reservation because it tends to get busy and the waiting time can be very long. The room is darkly lit and the servers are always at your service. You can actually have a conversation here despite the restaurant meeting its full capacity.

So yes, it's delicious, romantic, fun, and charming. It's Houston!

I was invited here for lunch last week.  I hadn't eaten at a Houston's in about 8 yrs so I wondered if it would still hold up.  I worked for a major restaurant corporation back in the day and it was habit to keep up with trends, new "kids" in town, so we watched Houston's.  Houston's menu prices have always been high enough to price it out of the family dining niche but low enough to keep it affordable for a "celebration" or "really really nice" lunch or dinner.  Their menu is small, but what has kept this place going is their service.   It's the type of service that one would expect with a high dollar eatery.  This is a  perfect choice for a first date or client luncheon.  Note that your party will not be seated until everyone has arrived.  They only accept reservations for parties of 4 or less.

I've always loved Houstons, both in Woodland Hills, CA and in Austin, TX.  They have the Best Burgers Ever; what makes them extra special (to me) is that they have thickly grated cheddar cheese on top, egg buns, plus the burger meat is an excellent quality.  As an appetizer I love their blue cheese wedge salad.

While visiting Addison's Houstons I ordered the salad special of the day, which was a tasty crab cake salad.  But the extra special treat here was the dessert the server recommended: a chocolate caramel sundae. I know sounds so simple but what made this dessert **to die for** was that they serve it with a gravy boat of the chocolate syrup made at the next door's chocolatier specialty shop.

All this complimented by a top rate and extensive wine by the glass selection and A+ service.

It's all about Houstons in my family. We have been coming to this location since 98 or 99. My aunt and uncle live literally behind this place. I mean from nights after shopping, lunch after church, when no one feels like cooking -- this is where we head. WHY? It is ALWAYS CONSISTENT AND RELIABLE! We've known so many of the servers that have come through here and have learned the training and requirements to be a server here. And we love the GREAT service!

What's our favorite on the menu?
RIBS! They soak them in fat for 3 days and then cook them. MY FAVORITE RIBS IN DALLAS!
Couscous - it really is great here.
Spinach dip - something about the chips that make it great.
California salad with buttermilk ranch - delicious!
The fillet is superb!
The chili on Saturdays is awesome.
Love the small cut french fries as well!

Some of the GREAT new additions to Houstons that they didn't used to offer are: RESERVATIONS!!!! Yeah, never thought I'd be so excited about reservations - but they didn't used to take them, at all. And now they allow take out after 3 pm... they used to not allow it.

Houston's is truly a great place. Probably my favorite in Dallas. It's our "home cooked" place that my family goes to b/c we know it so well and it makes us happy.

I went to Houston's on Friday night for dinner. It was a late dinner. We were 4 and we got immediately a table. The general atmosphere is very nice, the restaurant has a great bar where you can seat to wait for your table. You don't have too much light on the table, I think it is great. It gives a type of romantic atmosphere all around you.

The menu looked good. You have many choices. If you like meat they have a great selection of steaks, pork chops, chicken. But if you're a vegetarian and if you want to have a light dinner, Houston's has a great selection of salads. I almost forgot, the wine list is great too. You can order by the glass or if you have a large party with you, you can get a bottle.

I decided to go for the sashimi tuna salad. The tuna was amazing, fresh and delicious. They served the tuna with a lettuce mix with fresh sliced mango and avocados. It has been a long I have not eat something that good. We looked at the desert menu and menu items looked good. We were not angry anymore to order any desert (this time).

In term of table service everything was perfect. I never had once my water glass empty. The waitress was very nice with us and very professional.

In conclusion I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a place to have a dinner.

I love Houston's. Its a little pricey, but for some of the items, it is so worth it. Start with the grilled artichokes. These are the best artichokes that have ever been in my mouth. I love the sauce that comes with it. I wish I could eat one of these artichokes every day of my life. Their hamburgers are the jam. They are so juicy and perfectly cooked. The fries will literally knock your socks off. Well, not literally. They are good though. This is the only restaurant I will eat a French Dip at. Their French Dip is made with prime rib and it is soo good.  This is a good date place. Pretty quiet, and you arent sitting right on top of anyone else. Its an old restaurant, but it is still tasty.

Houston's has really fallen off in recent years.  Cutbacks seem to have hit this location the most.  The lower food quality (breads and meats) is noticeable.  Despite this fact Houston's remains a family favorite and given the long wait times for a table I suspect others still remember Houston's the way it was years ago.

We visited Houston's for the first time today.  I see all of the 5 star reviews and hate to break the chain, but I just don't give 5 stars for many things.  I'm a bell-curve kinda guy!

The food was great, the service was great, and I'd definitely return.  My wife had a french dip sandwich which she said was the best she had ever had.  My daughter went with the Hawaiian Ribeye and it tasted great... she liked the flavor but didn't realize a ribeye isn't the leanest cut of beef, so she only picked at it.  I had the ribs and they were really good, I just wish the rack were a bit larger.

The service was great... you can really tell they put a high value on keeping great staff.  Our iced tea never got below 1/2 filled before there was a fresh one waiting, and the tea was as fresh as it gets.

We saw somewhere on the menu that Cafe R&D is somewhere on Preston, so it must be owned by the same group.  We'll have to check that one out next, hopefully it's as good as Houston's.

Love Houston's!  I know it's a chain, but it definitely lives up to it's reputation.  It was named after the city, when it was known to be the next big thing.

I love the rib eye steak, the grilled cod, the pork ribs... I have yet to try any sushi, but I also hear it's good as well.

Don't be afraid, order anything off the menu, and it won't disappoint! =)

Oh, make a reservation, unless you like to wait.

Houston's is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas! It's my bf's favorite too. I LOVE their Thai beef salad. If you go in the winter time, you need to get the artichoke appetizer. I got it once, and every other time I went they didn't have it because it wasn't in season. Too bad I didn't get to try it again before I moved. Their steaks are grilled to perfection. Desserts are delicious! Try the apple cobbler! Their service is impeccable. They are so fast and so attentive to your needs.

For some reason I am a sucker for delicious food and great service.  Hmmm I wonder why?  Because I am such a sucker I love Houston's , this one specifically.  I know that this location has been there for over 10 years and that should be a testament for any restaurant!  The service is impeccable and the food always perfect.  The Hawaiian Rib eye is prob one of the best cuts of meats I have tasted in Dallas and I love steak houses!  The wine list is very accommodating for any palette .  I have been to many Houston's but this one is def special and they make you feel that way....
