happy hour $1 bud light $2 blue moon
decent appetizer menu
great place to hang out before and during shows
(not sure about after)
the restaurant staff is very friendly (it helps to follow football)
building itself is unique ( i guess they are the original owners since it was built in the early '90's)
looking forward to future shows

Dear House Of Blues,
I went to happy hour at your Sunset Strip Restaurant tonight and was very disappointed to find that the advertising that inspired me to go was deceptive.
It clearly states "ALL APPETIZERS 50% OFF 5-7PM", but upon sitting down and ordering drinks we discovered that it did not in fact apply to the one appetizer I wanted - the pan-seared voodoo shrimp.
Could you please explain to me why your advertising - including your on-table brochures - states that "ALL APPETIZERS" are 50% off, with no asterisk and no small print on the menu saying otherwise, when that is clearly NOT the case?
In my opinion there is already enough lying and deceptive advertising in the world today, and I was shocked and disappointed to see that House Of Blues has now become a part of it.
Sadly,
Craig Clemens
If you haven't heard of the HOUSE OF BLUES...go jump off a cliff!
I have to give the House of Blues 5 STARS! The aura of the club/lounge/venue is great and the staff is wonderful (esp. Sunset Strip, CA). The House of Blues is inspired by the African American culture and folk art and embraces music and southern cuisine. This has to be "THEE" most diverse venue EVER! Music performances from artist in genres you cant possibly think of; Rock n' Roll, Punk, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Rap, Country, Hip-Hop, Rhythm and Blues, Rock en Español, Jazz, Zydeco, Folk, Electronica and so much more. The HOB walls feature American folk art affectionately referred to as the visual blues. With over a thousand original pieces of folk art, HOB houses one of the largest publicly displayed folk art collections in America.
My greatest concert experience was in Hollywood venue; T-Pain performed! Not only did T-Pain MURDER the stage; unknowing it was afterparty/show the BET awards so all kinds of people showed up, Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beats, Chris Brown, Yung Jock, Lil Mama, Huey....you just never know WHO might slide through! HOB is poppin!!!!
Its locations everywhere...Cali, Cleavland, Chi-town, Dallas, Orlando.....sooooo many HOB's around!!! Its a MUST that you go!!! Check the website for more information: http://www.hob.com/

Hands down the worst musical venue in LA. Security will beat you up in the pit (Every Time I Die 02/08) which includes them horse tackling underage kids 1/3 of their size doing nothing more than moshing. Cameras are never allowed as well, my guess is they don't want you to document the carnage. I once was there at a show and someone was shot (no joke).
Making things worse, why do they have the slogal "Unity in Diversity" yet you see your typical blonde fake boob bartender serving drinks and the old African American has to hand out paper towels for tips in the restroom? Maybe we can reverse that and see some diversity in action?
As far as music goes, this place is terrible. Sightlines are horrible, the floor is way to hard to stand on for hours and the sound is often too loud, which makes it sound like poop. Unless I have full VIP (in which case they basically kiss your backside instead of treating you like crap) I refuse to step foot inside this complete joke of a venue. George Carlin said it best. If white people can burn down black churches, black people should be allowed to burn down the House of Blues.
I think this is a very nice venue. I like the style of it and the sound system is pretty good-although a little too much treble. i found the crowds are okay. I think it all depends on what show you are seeing-dinosaur jr was awesome. There was a friendly mosh pit at the concert where people helped each other. This differed from some other shows I had been to back in the day in jersey where one idiot put razor blades on his boots. There could be some benches or seats though maybe on the upper level.
I went to a show with a friend at this House of Blues location. The LA House of Blues is a lot better than the San Diego one. Parking is horrible. 15 valet. Waitresses were very quick with the drinks. Although only 4 or 5 people were drinking at this certain show. Great sound!
Had a great time.
Awesome Place!! Came for business - Twitter Conference. Awesome place to set up for presentation though.
They have a huge screen available, DJ audio person as well as awesome lights. It is alittle dim, however there were plenty enough tables.
Food: It was okay, nothing to spatacular, but good enough.
Parking: Valet
Recommend this place as a potential venue for your events.
Great events happen here all the time.
What bothers me however, is how anal the security is... with cameras and such, they can be pretty extreme. One time I went here I had to go through a full head to toe search, the guy put me through metal detectors and checked my bag as if I was going to bomb the place, but it was a dead kennedys punk show so, I wouldn't blame them.
The place is pretty pricey, seeing how massive this venue, and what it might cost to keep it up and running. The food de-lishh, however, if you're a looking for a quick bite there's a pizza parlor down the block.
Other than that, awesome fun huge venue, but beware of anal security haha.
Came here for a night to see my friend's friend's band play last weekend and had a blast. I wish I could comment on the music, but I was too drunk to really pay attention. The band's manager gave us free tickets and hung out- it seemed like there were way more guys at the bar than girls- not that I'm complainig. lol. We had a room across the street at the Grafton hotel, so it wsa pretty convenient. Cheapest parking was $10 at a parking lot at Sunset plaza
Yeah, I would've bet my left buttcheek that my first one star review would be for some atrocious skankalicious place in Santa Monica/Orange County/San Diego.
Good thing I didn't.
I ordered a rum and coke here. The bartender, apparently assuming I wouldn't notice the difference, served me a goddamn Malibu and coke.
You
do not
fuck with
my liquor.

House of Blues is a cool two-story venue, designed to look like a ramshackle southern shanty, and plays a great variety of music from Rap to Norwegian Death Metal. Even though it's a chain, I'm fond of their restaurant and some of its southern seafood dishes. It's also a great place to get hammered and bum rush the stage.
HOB what should I say? I'll start with the Pro's.
Loved the cozy vibe. I went here for the 1st time to see Mos Def and it was the night of the Lakers playoffs so they had a screen down with the game playing pre show which was NICE. Had some beers ($6) and watched the Lakers eat if but I was tipped and pumped about MOS. ;)
4 hours later, still no Mos, 3 opening acts and about six beers later I'm tired of STANDING ( they only have VIP seating for extra $$$ or if you order dinner $$$$) sucks that they can't offer seating since they make you wait so freakin long.
BUT by Midnight ( yes, the clock strikes 12) my Mos was on the stage and made up for it by playing a 2 HOUR set, YAY!!!
I was sooooo glad I had paid the $10 to park down the street in a garage because parking at HOB was $15 and it was a mess trying to get people out of there. It's like an extra hour trying to get your car out of the HOB parking lot. I simply walked two blocks to my car in the paid garage, got in and was headed off.
Overall I loved the vibe, the place is historic and had a hole in the wall juke joint feeling but I liked that. I'll be back but when better foot support for all the freakin standing. ;)

I don't like corporate venues, and that includes House of Blues. Why? I don't like being treated like cattle and paying bullshit service charges. I've probably seen a dozen or so shows here in my lifetime and had a very good time on most occasions. This is despite the venue. They've always got some bogus plan to get more money out of you. Do yourself a favor, don't eat dinner here, and have a few drinks somewhere else before the show. You'll save money and have a better time.
We went for the Sunday Gospel Brunch, so that is the extent of our experience.
They couldn't have done anything better.
Now it is a bit expensive, at $40 an adult, but that is because you are getting the all you can eat buffet and the live entertainment. Very reasonably priced when you think about it.
The food was very good. Wide assortment of breakfast and lunch foods, heavy on the southern.
The gospel performers were great, not heavy on the proselytizing; they knew they were there more for entertainment.
When the top floor opens up, you can be there and sprinkle napkins on the people below. That was fun.
Definitely will do again when I'm in town.

Do Not Valet!! I repeat ....DO NOT VALET!! Had to wait over an hour to get my car during the Raphael Saadiq show..WTF HOB!!!
Also, I hate that they make the audience wait 2 hours between opening band and main act. You know its because they want people to buy more drinks at the bar, but all it does is make people angry at the club, angrier at the artist. It's wack how they let this kind of shenanigan happen.

Went here for a Charity Brunch on a Sunday afternoon, which means GOSPEL BRUNCH! Met some celebrities as well as enjoyed more southern food than my stomach cared for :)
One star for a rad interior. Another for authentic Southern food. A third star for whole unabashedly Gospel showcase. Love it.
No 4th star because the parking was a nightmare. They only offered Valet, and since it is located in a rather residential part of town there was no other option. There goes $8 and 45 minutes of my time waiting to park and then retrieve our car.
And no 5th star because of the hell of a time we had trying to find the place. The HoB is located in West Hollywood -- NOT on Vineland and Sunet as Google directs. Such a freakin' headache trying to figure that out without a gps or iPhone. When I finally called the restaurant's number it took me 3 attempts to finally find out where it was located thanks to an endless automated response and lack of human contact. Lame.

Like the other HOBs, I have been here several times for Reverend Horton Heat and once to an Elvis' birthday bash. Again, similar setup as the other HOBs: Entrance is easy, VIP balcony is unnecessary, standing-room only venue with good sound and ambience. However, I'm docking a star on this one for a couple of reasons:
For one, parking was always difficult and valet expensive to the point where I would end up getting cheap valet up the street at Myagi's (and eating sushi there for dinner instead of HOB restaurant food), then walking down the block to see the show after dinner.
Two: Sets don't always start on time. And I don't mean like in a "one-hour-late-becuase-they're-rock-stars" way. I once saw the same show three nights in a row (yes, I love Rev). The first two nights they started around 11:00. The third night they started at 8:30 and I arrived to only hear the last two songs. So that was weird.
I was ready to dislike the House of Blues. When I was younger, the bands I liked always played the Roxy, the Whisky, or the Troub, so I always looked at HOB like some yuppie, Disneyland paradise I couldn't afford.
The man and I came here last night to see Raul Malo. We had dinner upstairs just before the show and the food was surprisingly good. I had chicken and mashed potatoes (really yummy mashed potatoes, but how can you go wrong with starch and butter and cheese and garlic?). He had jambalaya. Was it authentic? No, not really. But it was prepared well and not devastatingly expensive.
The venue appears well-managed. Nothing is broken or dirty, and the decor is nice, if Disney-ish. The band sounded great.
Valet was $15, good for the initial convenience, but be prepared to wait and wait and wait when it's time to pick up your car.

THE GOSPEL BRUNCH IS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
I didn't know what to expect coming in - I figured I would eat plates of buffet food, drink lots of glasses of mimosas, and sit and watch the show.
The first two happened, but instead of sitting and watching, everyone was standing and participating! By the end of the show I was whippin' my white napkin around over my head and screamin' "HALLELULEAH!!" as loud and often as I could!
Who knew the word could be used with such frequency?!
The food was great - lots of options and they never ran out. Standard continental, lots of hot brunch foods combined with southern staples, plus an omelette bar if you want to create your own. The bottomless-mimosas were fabulous as well. ; )
HALLELULEAH!!

This is a great place to see your favorite artists. It is a small venue so you had a great seat pretty much where ever you are. We saw Lacuna Coil and it was the bomb..the sound was great.. it was packed but it still was so much better than going to a concert at Staples's any other big venue.
I came here for the NK after party last month and it was the best after party EVER.
Don, Jord, and Joe showed up and we all got fully serviced.
Tink!
Ahhh...
I know hundreds of people have probably YELPED HOB already. Here's my humble opinion....
The restaurant serves up BIG portions! My aunt and I could've shared our meal. I had the cajun style chicken sandwich which was delicious! I ordered sweet potato fries instead of regular. Don't mind paying extra for the substitution. The waitress was prompt and attentive! Good job on her part.
Okay, the club part. our group specifically ate at the restaurant so we could have priority entrance to the concert venue. There were two entrance doors, and as is our luck, we chose the wrong entrance door in which to wait. We saw that the other entrance was open and people going in. A large group of us spoke up and they soon let us in.... the prime spots in front of stage were already taken! After my friend complained to a supervisor, we were given a free round of drinks.
All in all it was a good night and a pleasant experience.
Cheers!
I'm going to try and make this review about the venue and not about the bands I've seen at House of Blues.
For starters, the place is pretty iconic and situated right on the Sunset strip, which I think is a plus as far as people watching and social interactions.
I saw Ozomatli there last night and they ROCKED the show.
House of Blues is a medium sized venue with great acoustics. You can check out your favorite band and actually hear them and get into it since it's pretty small.
It's standing room only with the exception of a couple of reserved seats.
Drinks were moderately priced.
Despite being sold out House of Blues stays very cool. It is one of the best ventilated venues I have ever been to, so props for that.
Parking is bi*** even though they have a lot. If you park in their lot it is $$$ and you'll wait for 30 minutes before you get your car after a show.
Street parking is equally difficult for late shows and on weekend.

This review will be about the concert hall and not the restaurant.
I like places like hob but there's something very commercial about hob sunset. I can't help but compare it to Troubadour and The Coach House both of which feel like the walls have history and sadly the hob does not give me that vibe. The two other venues I mentioned makes you feel like time stood still and their staff may have been there for 50 years. They have a story to tell.
The no camera allowed inside policy is a definite buzz kill especially when you get inside you see that half the crowd were able to bring their cameras in. (I will never forgive them for this because I saw Robin Wilson of Gin Blossoms outside while waiting for valet and I had no camera aarrgghhhh!!!).
I ordered chicago style sliders at the bar and they were overcooked, dry and flavorless. I like that the bar is stocked with top shelf liquor and a decent selection of beer (Stella Artois, Fosters, Heineken and the local stuff).
I'm not gonna rant about parking because that's just an LA thing. Will I come back to hob sunset, sure I will. Because at the end of it all, it's still all about the band/artist that will complete your experience.

State of the Art Concert Landmark on Sunset Strip
Yes this Place Looks Run Down From The Outside
Why?
They recycled rusty steel panels
from a barn in ms and brought it here and applied
it to the exterior to make it look old.
But The Interior of this place is State of the Art and New.
All Wood With A Fantastic Light and Sound System
Because of the Wood Floors &
Wood Ceiling the Sound Reverberates in here really nice.
One of the best Places in So. Cal to See A Concert
Decent Food & Good Drinks
Sunday Brunch is Legendary here
Two thumbs Up!

I've been to the House of Blues several times and have never been too impressed. So when I went last night I was all set to make mental notes and come home to write a scathing review. I was preparing quips like "sipping on booze at the House of Blues must have been way more fun when Biggie was recording Life After Death." This is how little I thought of my previous experiences. I'm not saying all of that to say that I had the time of my life and have forgotten all my previous experiences. But in all fairness, I must say that my most recent trip wasn't so bad.
The odds of successfully finding parking under $10, be it street, garage or otherwise is approximately 3720 to 1 , so obviously I wound up valeting at the venue for $15. It's not the venue's fault that parking on the Strip sucks, however it is their fault that they charge that much to park.
I've seen bands in a few of the rooms at HoB, and the Music Hall is the only one that's worth while. Remember back in high school when your friends' band would play at a house party when the host's parents were out of town? That's what the rest of the rooms are like. Unless you're going to support a friend who you really like AND is buying you a beer, don't bother. But the Music Hall actually functions like a proper concert venue. There's a pit down front, a bar along either side and in the back. There's seating, but you have to either be important enough to warrant reserved seats or be willing to pay extra. Not cool. Taken independently, the Music Hall would be a pretty good venue (the seating thing notwithstanding), but taken as a part of the whole it's hard for me to sit here and tell you that the House of Blues is excellent.
You will probably have fun if you go to the House of Blues. Specifically if you go to the Music Hall. But it doesn't compare to the Troubadour. Or even to Hotel Cafe. I get the feeling -- though I can't say this based on firsthand knowledge -- that it has become a sort of caricature of of the establishment that attached the allure to its name. The kind of place where people who like to pretend they're younger than they are go to feel hip. People are still saying "hip", right?

Went for Gospel Brunch after the election and it was cool idea to celebrate with a choir. I have heard about this place for a few years. I think the economy downturn effected the turnout here.
This was a happening event in the past. But, there weren't that many people in the audience -in fact I think there were 2 staff per patron. The staff were clapping, dancing and jamming to the music. But, that seemed like their job, otherwise it would have been really dead. They could have changed the setting to make it more cozy since there was such a small crowd. But looking at the big empty, lit up space was bleak. Even though there wasn't a full crowd the amps were blasting so loud you couldn't enjoy the music.
Our friends all said that that it was too expensive for what you got. The buffet was averagel, the performance was just ok, and the "all you can drink mimosas and bloody mary's", for $10 extra weren't very good. Yes, I had many drinks and never had a minor buzz. It had a cold, cruise ship vibe.
The most awkward thing was that there were only suburban, white people watching the all-black choir. It was a strange, bourgeoisie experience. I was uncomfortable how segregated and yuppy the whole thing was.
But, the waiters were great. On top of the big tab there were several announcements to tip the waiters. For something like this, gratuity should be included so that you don't end the event being pimped for more money. It was so tacky to get overhead announcements and the performers all telling you to tip.
It wasn't that memorable and I couldn't recommend it to anyone. I could have had a a lot of fun with that money and a little creativity.

HOB is a nice venue spot for a concert, and they're right do not eat here. The food has no flavor. There's a parking garage the next street over, on Olive Dr (I think); they charge $10, and the guy that takes your money is really nice too. The drinks at HOB suck. I had a really small cup of GG w/Cran; it cost $10, and the bartender does not know how to count money. So I suggest BYOB. The sound set up is not really up to par. I couldn't really hear the band that well at times during the concert. All in all I had a good time here.
The House of Blues on Sunset is everything a venue should be. I've seen a few shows here from Bad Religion to Streetlight Manifesto and Reel Big Fish, and I have to say that in comparison to other places like the Roxy, Troubadour, Key Club, or even the HOB in Anaheim, this one is a notch above them all.
It's big enough to accommodate a large amount of people, but small enough to provide the perfect amount of memory-making intimacy between the artists and audience. The bars are well stocked and have a good variety of drinks. The bathrooms are kept pretty clean (at least the womens is) and there are places to to watch for every level of show goers. Wanna chill and listen to the music? Head upstairs and watch from above or stand to the sides. Feeling adventurous? Head to the floor and take your chances getting knocked around in the pit. Either way, you'll get an experience perfect for you. If you haven't been to HOB Sunset, I highly recommend you do.

Every time I enter this venue I HAVE to remind myself why I paid money to go there. And the answer in the bands. HOB house some of the best rock/punk bands that play on the Sunset Strip.
However HOB is also known to over serve their crowds which leads to people vomiting in corners, starting fights for no reason, and falling over on me. The bouncers run around like they are making a difference when in all actuality I think they are the source of the problems. Just over paid fat guys that stand in the corner and run into the crowd and push people out of the way every 10 minutes.
I ate dinner there last night the entire menu changed. No calamari and someone how they were unable to make a quesadilla. To make matters worse I got sick, ended up throwing up in the bathroom and had to leave early. Do not waste your money on the food, its over priced and will probably make you vomit. Keep in mind if you are brave enough to eat here, get a table and a waiter. DO NOT even try sitting in the bar area unless you are at the bar. The service is horrible. We sat there for 15 minutes and no one even came up to us. I suppose the employees at the HOB are not to concerned with their tip money.
Now the sound at this venue is amazing, loud and amazing. Always bring ear plugs unless you plan on being deaf at age 40. NEVER drink mixed drinks, unless you are at the "restaurant bar," once you smell the inside of HOB you will know why.
It has been rumored that HOB is getting shut down for it excessive violence and lack of changes.
I do not recommend this place to anyone, unless a kick ass band is playing there. Beware if you it is a band that is likely to have a mosh pit. It will not be a real mosh pit at the HOB. It will be filled with underage pre pubescent little boys hitting each other in the face and throwing beer on each other.
The only cool thing I can think about this place is, the last couple times I have been there, they have made you tickets for Saturday night good on Sunday night. Oh and if you are sly enough sneak up to the 3rd floor, this really only works for ladies wait HOT ladies. The Foundation Room is really nice with a higher class of patrons. This is their VIP area so do not expect to get in if you look like you just rolled out of a trailer.
The only place to really park is valet or one of the lots on Sunset either way you are looking at $20 on the weekend. I recommend the valet just because its close and they are pretty quick with the cars.
Do not bring your camera because you cannot take it inside. I know stupid since almost ever phone has a camera and a video recorder, but its the rule. And you will get searched on your way in. You cannot hide it in your bra either ladies.

Umphrey's McGee rocked the rusted roof off the House of Blues last night!
What a great place to see live music! Last night was my first HOB-LA experience, and it didn't disappoint.
Reasons I'll come back:
- They book great music!
- The size of the venue is perfect for a show and when it gets too crowded, you can escape to the upstairs bar/restaurant area.
- The sound system and lighting were excellent.
- The bathrooms are clean (there were no lines, either!) and easily accessible upstairs.
- I loved all the TV monitors everywhere, even at the bars.
- Great location on Sunset with plenty of ($5-$20) parking lots nearby.
- The wait staff and security people were very friendly and efficient.
Things that prevented HOB from being a 5-star venue:
- The drinks were on the pricey side (about $9 each), which helped keep me sober.
- Security was insane - I felt like I was entering the White House. Do you seriously have to wand people that are going to a jamband show? I don't think the illegal stuff coming into that place will show up on a metal detector. Ha!
Good times.

I showed up for the Sunday gospel brunch. Had a pretty good time! The food, while not necessarily gourmet, was pretty good and above all plentiful. I'm just sayin, when I go to a buffet I want quantity. I want to kick out all the stops, unbutton my pants, wear the drawers with the loose elastic and EAT like the big dog I am.
The music was professional and slick. No complaints about the band. The sound quality was top knotch. I think a gospel show will live or die with the audience. Everyone's gotta be feeling it. I think about half the people were feeling it. I just kept eating, because I'm a bit of a peeg like that. I had one fist pumping, one fist shoveling chocolate cake into my maw.
The venue is very cool, lots of history and vibe. Check out a good band there and I'm sure you'll have a good time.
I always feel like I'm walkin' up to Big Thunder's rollercoaster when I flash my ID at the entrance to the House of Blues! You can't deny the place is tryin' to look like a sophisticated shack, but that's fine by me. And though I'm not the biggest fan of chains, the HOB is one of the best chains around. They parlay the concept of a small music venue and make it possible to see some great live acts all over. Or wherever there's a HOB, that is.
The sophisticated shack theme continues inside where the standing area is conveniently flanked by 2 bars. Upstairs, you've got a mezzanine level which is actually part of the restaurant. Pay your way into the "rail" section to sit at a table at mezzanine level facing the stage. It'll cost you an extra $10 on your drink tab, but well worth it for the view alone.
I was there this past Monday to catch Amorphis on the SoCal leg of their Silent Waters Tour. And if you haven't heard, Amorphis is a Finnish metal band, and only the biggest thing to come out of Helsinki, Finland. Their tunes kick some serious ass, and after the HOB show, they truly showed they kick some serious ass live too! I highly recommend you check 'em out. http://www.amorphis.net/
The sound was awesome, and the HOB kept the drinks and snacks comin'. Service was excellent both on the floor and mezzanine, and the whole professionalism and cleanliness of the place almost made it worth the slight markup you get on the beers.
Overall, I love seeing shows at the HOB!

Normally I would write a review for what a great place this is to see a concert, but today this review is strictly for the GOSPEL BRUNCH! My very good friend decided to gather a group of his closest friends to celebrate his birthday, and instead of the typical bar or club he decided to have us all join in the beautiful sounds of gospel music. I was so blown away by what an amazing performance and overwhelming spiritual closeness you could have; especially of all places at the House of Blues. Besides the moving energetic music was the amazing buffet. I was so overwhelmed by the performance that it did not take long before I was off my seat and dancing and clapping my hands and waving my lap napkin around to the sounds of these wonderfully blessed performers. I can't wait to share this experience with my fellow friends and family.

This is one of my favorite venues to see a show.
I've a lot of good memories here....Face to Face, Strung Out, a whole lot of Bad Religion shows, Streetlight Manifesto, etc.
The sound is always good here and shows run smoothly. I'm usually on the floor, but there are balconies and tables options as well to enjoy a show. I had a work Christmas party here a few years back, this venue worked nicely for that as well.
Bar service is quick and friendly, and security is pretty routine....no problems there. Valet parking is offered, but I always park at a lot nearby...quicker and cheaper that way. It's a medium sized venue so it offers a somewhat intimate experience, but isn't too cramped. They place manages to say cool, so hooray for proper ventilation.
I can count on the HOB Sunset for a good experience.

They got attitude but you have to hand it to them. It's HOB on the Sunset Strip. That draws some impressive artists for such a small place. Aretha Franklin in a place that holds maybe 200 people!
The food is pretty decent too.
Great view of the the city of angels from the back.
Valet parking sucks because it will take furevahhh to get your car. Drive about half a block down on Sunset and pull in to the lot on your right. It may not be cheaper but you'll get out faster.
I've always wondered about HoB, but had never actually gone, prior to the Snoop Dogg show we saw on NYE. Great venue! They did standing room only for the show, so we ended up near the middle of the floor. Had a great time, and both Warren G and Snoop sounded good.
Note: We grabbed a drink upstairs before the show, and we were "allowed" to sit at a table in the bar area, even though were weren't getting the prix fixe dinner. We got a bit of attitude from the manager/server at first, but they let us do it (honestly, the attitude was unnecessary -- the dining area was virtually empty! It was also past 10 pm, and I don't think there were many people coming for dinner at that point).

Crowds here are always the best and hypest. Performances will always be better here. But daaaaaaaammmmmmmn, can the parking situation get any better, faster or cheaper? Parking valet here is a good $15-$20 on top of what you already paid for to go see. Waiting for your car after the show is horrific and another 30 mins to an hour wait time. Seriously? Get your parking shat straightened up. I don't like missing big acts when they come to LA to perform but this particular location REALLY discourages me from going to see anyone I am a fan of because don't want to deal with the BS that would lie ahead.

Best Night Of My Life!!! Okay maybe not but it was definitely memorable.
I had never been to a House of Blues before so I wasn't sure what to expect. The set up is cool. You have the restaurant on the street level and the stage on the lower level. There's also the VIP room and backstage, which I found out about later in my story.
I was there with a friend for the New Kids on the Block after party. There were signs stating that there was no guarantee that they would be there. But tickets were only $10 and we weren't ready to call it a night so we figured what the hell, we can get some drinks, chill for a while and see what happens. We got inside and they're playing "It Takes Two" by Rob Base so I'm immediately digging it. We head straight to the bar, we order a couple of drinks(BTW drinks are expensive, 17.50 for two tiny 8 oz cups.) By this time the floor is packed. No matter where you stand you have an awesome view of the stage. We plant ourselves at the right side of the stage near the bar where we meet up with a couple of girls who were standing behind us at the concert. One of them is talking to an usher. A bit past midnight the curtains fly open and there are three of the five New Kids, the crowd goes wild. They perform three songs and it's done. So the four of us sit there not wanting the night to be over when the security guard/usher, who will remain nameless, comes over and grabs us to take us backstage. So we're freaking out. We go up some stairs into another bar upstairs, no New Kids. He grabs us again and takes us behind the place into another room, VIP. We walk right past Joey McIntyre, whose taking pictures with peeps. Then I spot Donnie Wahlberg. He's hanging out just talking to people.
We spent the rest of the night just chillin out... in VIP... at HOB... with Donnie Fuckin Wahlberg! :)

I've only been here once, and it just happened to be for the Paul Stanley solo show.
The staff, people, everything was top notch.
I guess I never really bothered to club here, it just happened that all of the shows I wanted to see were always at the HOB in Anaheim. This particular show was just a luck of the draw kind of thing.
We valet the car across the street for 10$, I think, and popped the trunk, and chugged on some Vodka. By the time we casually walked over, the line was going around the corner; it was a sold out show.
Me and L. busted some moves and were at the front in no time.
It was standing room only, and shortly before Paul came out on stage, Gene Simmons made an appearance, actually, he rented out the entire 2nd level. Very cool.
The acoustics were all nice and even, and it was pretty much smooth sailing all night.
After that, we drove over to Mozza for some drinks. Tre cool.
