67 reviews for Hotel Zoso
I opted to stay at Hotel Zoso with the sole intent of staying at the hotel the majority of the my stay in Palm Springs and making the most of the amenities it has to offer. The items that made Hotel Zoso "so so" (-) and "not so so" (+) are the following:
Those things being "So So" are:
-Like many of the reviewers have mentioned, the pool area is rather large but the pool is the size of a residential pool. It takes little to no time to get hot and really dirty with the mixture of suntan lotions that contaminate it in the first two hours of operation.
-Many of the pool chairs were on their last leg and need to be retired. It was often difficult to find one which was not sun rot, torn, or extremely worn down.
-The mixed beverages at the pool were rather weak. I am still questioning whether their was any liquor in my pitcher of rum punch.
Eventually I fell into the "club mode" of ordering beers to which I was assured there was alcohol being served.
-Kind of an "aged" scent in the hallways which was not very fresh nor inviting initially.
Not so "So So" are:
-The staff was exceptionally attentive, energetic, and genuinely kind.
-The style of the hotel is creatively beautiful and chic with a spacious feel to it.
-The king bed with the nine pillows was very comfortable and the linen was superb and soft. There were always more than enough towels.
-42" HD flat screens in each room which came in handy after recuperation from a long afternoon by the pool.
-I greatly enjoyed the DJ spinning poolside on Saturday and Sunday. The music and energy level of those that patron the poolside was great and left a lot to talk about later in the evening after the pool scene.
-The hotel has a very strict no smoking policy and are pet friendly.
I would definitely stay at Hotel Zoso again. My only recommendation to unsuspecting patrons that this hotel appeals and caters to the trendy youngsters (20's and 30's) and those with alternative lifestyles. If you take issue with either demographics, you need not make a reservation at Hotel Zoso or hangout in downtown Palm Springs after dusk for that matter.

Stay elsewhere. The service here is terrible, there's no fitness center, and the front desk staff is clueless.
What kind of upscale resort in the desert doesn't have its own fitness center? Instead, they force you to use a local gym that is approximately a mile and a half away. A car service dropped me off, but I waited nearly 45 minutes for them to pick me up. I would have walked, but it's down a main road with no sidewalks, and it was also in the mid-day desert heat. I called the front desk a number of times to complain, only to have them brush me off.
When I returned to the hotel, they apologized that the driver was so late and told me the manager would contact me personally. She/he never did.
Stayed here for one night over the labor day weekend, it was an okay experience. It looks great on the website and also in person. The rooms are very spacious, modern, and cool. The location is great, in the middle of downtown Palm Springs.
However, I do have some complaints. First, I think the place is terribly mismanaged. The keycard-only access door at the back of the hotel was purposely propped open and random homies from the low-cost hotel across the street were coming and going to the pool at their leisure. The problem with this is that the door is in the middle of the 1st floor room corridor, so it was noisy and I didn't feel very safe. We notified management who said it would be taken care of but never was.
This also made the pool area pretty unappetizing as it was crowded and noisy...and not in the fun spring break kind of way. It actually felt like I was at an apartment complex pool during a party. We also encountered someone being arrested out front as we were coming back from dinner, this person was not staying at the hotel but was there for the pool festivities.
I'm sure these issues had a lot to do with the holiday weekend, but I still think they were unnecessary.

A solid friendly hotel. The pool is about twice the size of a residential pool but the pool deck is quite large- it looks out of balance, but the pool isn't "tiny" as some have mentioned.
We found service to be good and friendly, except for the pool bar guy with no personality (made up for by the second heavyset pool bar dude who was great however).
The room was big and well done with a view of the pool. Food quality was above average. We asked for a late check out, which was happily granted, but were charged $75 for "extra vacuuming" related to the dog shedding- we felt the charge was excessive.
Overall i wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Some room for improvement, but definitely a worthwhile visit!
WACK! Why? We didn't even get to stay at this Hotel! Our reservations were thrown out because they realized that they overbooked for a convention at the hotel and ended up sending us to the hotel next door. This happened the day of our check in without any prior notice. The hotel manager was a douche-bucket and this city attracts mainly old fogeys and homosexuals. Never coming back again!
Hotel Zoso has a lot going for it, prime location in regards to downtown Palm Springs, great street level aesthetics, and modern decor. Unfortunately, it's facilities are so poorly maintained and its staff members seemingly trained to induce frustration.
Luckily I was with a group of friend that weekend and we had a great time, the experience would have definitely been elevated if the hospitality was there. No relief.
So where DO you find relief when you find yourself in the seventh circle of Dante's Inferno surrounded by the sinners who engage in sodomy and Armenians who are not practicing Orthodox Christians? That's right, the pool, usually a welcome oasis of cool water and adult beverages. Not here, I routinely form pools of piss larger than what they had out there after a night of hard drinking in the back alley of a gas station. This thing was TINY and to top that, the pool water looked like pho broth (read: murky water), the stank of the thousands of people that have waded in and out of this puddle of a pool.
They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Well, following in the footsteps of this maxim, it's like the cover of the book showing Ninjas, Pirates, girls performing fellatio, and your favorite brand of alcohol, then excitedly opening the book to indulge in such sordid subjects only to find that you've been had and you're staring down the pages of the Gideon bible.
That's what staying at Hotel Zoso is like. Shocking and utter disappointment. It makes you think that they might have misplaced their operations manual for the one at the Guantanamo Bay prison.

We have always admired the architecture and the wonderful location of this hotel - so close to everything. You can walk to restaurants, stores, movies, etc. Our stay was very pleasant. Staff was the friendliest in Palm Springs. Great spacious room with a north-facing balcony. Large plasma TV, nice furnishings. Palm Springs has the greatest number of young people (20's and 30's); they congregate in the downtown area which provides a vitality that the other desert community lack. I highly recommend Hotel Zoso and downtown Palm Springs.

We were scared. We forgot to check Yelp before making a one night Pricelin reservation here ($64 before all the taxes and fees). After reading these reviews, we were holding our breath and expecting the worst. I'm happy to say, the worst didn't happen. It wasn't a perfect visit and the 4 stars are perhaps a bit inflated, but all in all, it was a decent stay. 3.5 stars would be more accurate.
We just went for one night and have no interest in the pool scene, so that alleviated one potential problem noted in reviews. Check in was a breeze and people were nice and helpful. The room was nicely appointed, but really dark with the shades drawn.
Oh wait, that's because 2 of the 3 lamps didn't work. One wasn't plugged in (and couldn't be because the only nearby plug was directly behind the big head board. The other was missing a light bulb. It took 5 minutes for maintenance to arrive. Another 10 to get everything in order. Well done, I say, and a pat on the back to Rick, the maintenance dude.
However, the room was still very dark even with all the lights burning. Other minor points were low water pressure and crappy towels. We were just there to sleep and shower. Is it too much to ask for towels less than 5 years old and thicker and softer than paper? I don't think so. Bed was good.
There were the unannounced fees amounting to about $10. But we did take the tip and park out back. Turned out our room was right by that back entrance. Very convenient.
Bottom line, nothing to rave about or rant about. A solid choice for a quick trip.
Went here in spring 2009 for a relaxing weekend with another couple. We noticed an unsual number of pre-teen girls around, as well as conspicuous looking 30- and 40- something men. Turns out that a block of rooms had been booked for "Indian Princesses" - some group that does events for father-daughter pairings. They basically took over the hotel. The peak was Saturday, when the pool was filled from mid-morning 'til dusk with 20 screaming preteens, their partnerless fathers prowling around the pool and flirting with women.
If you're looking for a nice, adult place in Palm Springs, look elsewhere.
That said, everything else was very good. The room was nicely upscale, they made good drinks at the bar, and the service was excellent. The DJ at the pool was also very good, when you could hear the music above the din of pre-teens hollering.

Oh my gosh... rape me & then take my wallet, my purse & my firstborn!
Pay $6 for bottled water, $369 for a room whose patio door faces 24 hour high beam security lights & curtains that just don't quite meet each other and $24 for hotel parking (per day)--adding insult to injury they chaarge a utility fee, a guest fee, a surcharge & probably a handling fee!
We called ahead to arrange for fiberfill, NON-FEATHER pillows due to severe allergies. We even called twice to make sure & confirm that everything was all in order....yessiree! Checked in... the non-down pillows were noted on the room reservation, so we felt at ease. But...NO...
Not one, not 2, but 5 ALL DOWN pillows garnished the bed atop a DOWN COMFORTER! We called housekeeping & left for dinner...
FAST FORWARD to 11pm that same evening... still 5 down pillows grinning at us from their down throne.
Remove them ourselves into closet. Call housekeeping again...go to car, get rolled up sweatshirt.
Next day, call housekeeping again... go out for day. Come back, shower... rolled up sweatshirt meekly smiling & 5 down pillows & 1 down comforter muffling their screams at us from the closet floor.
48 hours later...we check out, complain. Desk clerk says "Oh, sorry."
Aaaa Chooo! Am still sneezing...

After reading a lot of the reviews I was actually scared to come and stay here. My main concern was the size of the pool which was indeed small however, I experienced no disgusting water which many reviews had spoke about. The rooms are huge with large patios, beds, bathrooms, and televisions. The bed was huge with 9 comfy pillows and a down comforter, perfect for a great night sleep. One of the best things about this hotel is the complimentary shuttle they provide to take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius both drop off and pick up, ask the concierge. I opted taking it to the waterpark near by and was very happy with the service. Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel thanks to the friendly staff, clean large rooms, and great location.

The hotel - - GREAT location, really. It is about a block from the shops and downtown Palm Springs. The interior is lovely and they had live music in the lobby lounge both of the nights we were there (Fri and Sat). The valet overnight parking was expensive at $20 but whatever.
The room - - Very nice and comfy. And most notably CLEAN, which is basically the most important thing about a hotel room as far as I'm concerned. There were about 10,000 pillows on the bed which was nice because I like to snuggle up with pillows in my arms and between my legs when I sleep. The a/c worked well and the shower was nothing special but nice and roomy. The balcony was nice too but it's kinda lame they don't allow smoking on the balconies.
The pool - - AWFUL! The pool is about the size of a postcard and they have a million chaise lounges all around it, which takes up tons of space. I think they should decrease the lounging space and increase the pool size. Also it was about 105 degrees out there when we went, and it would have been nice to take a swim... but there was already about 40 people in the pool (so full it was standing-room only). The water was also FILTHY!! As a friend commented it was a "human stew"... which of course meant there was NO WAY any of us was going in there. Not unless we wanted to catch something.
The staff - - A++++++ EVERY SINGLE PERSON there was really helpful and friendly. Especially the concierge guy (I believe his name is Sokien or at least it sounds like that). He was VERY helpful and went above and beyond. Also the man who tended the pool guests was slaving away in the hot sun, and CLEARLY wasn't enjoying it, but he was still really friendly to us and got us ice water and towels with a smile on his face.

"SIr, I must inform you that there will be AN ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLE EVENT here at the Hotel Zoso this weekend."
Well, HTFO!
Do you mean in one of the cities with the highest census tracks of same sex partners, the trendy, boutique hotels with party deisnged pools and upper end food hosts "ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLE" events? Color me a rainbow!
and kiss my ass while you are at it, that being my alternative lifestyle ass.
Aside from their whitewash of our rainbow lives, its a very well appointed hotel with a decent business center and their Valet service is always friendly, helpful and effective.

Reasons I will not be staying at the Zoso again:
1. It was 95 degrees this weekend... and the AC was broken in our room. We weren't planning on hanging out indoors, but this made the process on primping & prepping (which, according to my baby-daddy can sometimes take a *wee bit* longer than one would expect) a bit uncomfortable. I was sweating like a whore in church by the time we walked out the door.
2. They do not have 24 hour room service. WTF? They are completely oblivious to the value of the 3am cheeseburger... And waffle.
3. Something is seriously wrong with the elevators. I see the reviews below and I'm honestly glad to hear it wasn't just that we couldn't figure them out. Yes, you have to insert your room key, but that wasn't the problem. And when you're like me and rushing to get out the door by the noon check-out (because they denied our request for late check-out - double WTF?!) what are you supposed to do when your room key no longer works? Luckily our friendly housekeeper saved the day with her magic key and extensive knowledge of the workings of the sheisty elevators.
4. The pool... Oh where do I begin to describe the tragedy that they call their pool. It is very small, F-I-L-T-H-Y, and has only 2 sad little cabanas, and they are way back in the corner by the stairs and the restroom. They couldn't give those away. There was a DJ which was a nice little bonus, but then he started spinning RAP with the "Bad words" bleeped out... Come on, if you're gonna go gangster, you got to do it 100% Am I right? I doubt anyone with the balls to go swimming in that mirk would've been too offended by an f-bomb or two.
5. The concierge sent us to a restaurant that was closed. So sad.
6. $20 valet... You don't really have a choice in this matter. How strange.
Ever the optimist I feel the need to point out the bright side:
The location is very convenient. Within walking distance you'll find plenty of great restaurants, shops and nightlife to make up for what your hotel is lacking, and therefore save your weekend!
Alas, I have but two stars to give you Zoso... Because I have, indeed, experienced better.

Palm Springs. A great weekend getaway to just hang out and relax. After reading the reviews about Hotel Zoso on Yelp, I was slightly skeptical. The reviews were definitely all over the place from 1 star to 5. But for me, you can't beat the price. Staying in a 4 star hotel for under $150 a night is definitely a plus (thank you Expedia!)! I've started to become a bit of a hotel snob, so quality is definitely important!
Pros:
* Great location - right in the middle of DT Palm Springs!
* Great service - despite the bad yelp reviews, we have had nothing but FANTASTIC service!
* Modern rooms - huge flat screen TVs, modern decor, great sheets, bed full of pillows
* free WiFi - ... as I am sitting on the hotel bed with my laptop writing this review
* Heated pool - didn't actually swim, but I was told - and we went outside and was pleasantly surprised with the fire pit outside of the pool as well as the music playing at 6pm!
* Happy Hour at the bar - from 5-8pm, many drink specials (around $5 drinks) as well as some appetizers for $3-$6!
And now the reason there are only 4 stars... CONS...
* Valet parking only - $8/day or $20/overnight
* TV only analog (I know, I'm reaching here - but how are you going to have a huge flat screen and all of your TV is analog?!)
* eatZ - the hotel restaurant - a bit pricey
So, from the bad reviews that some people wrote of, I did not notice any "funky odor" nor did I have any problems with the elevators. I actually preferred to use the stairs (we were on the 2nd floor). I loved the decor and the staff was more than friendly to us!
I'd definitely come back and stay here again for a quick weekend getaway!

GREAT location, very nice rooms (big TVs, nice bathroom, comfortable bed.)
Pool area was very "eh" - just concrete, a few pool chairs and a hole in the group (aka the pool.) Pretty disappointing.
Happy hour is not too bad, decent drinks and bar food. However, the bar manager is a BITCH - she talks to you condescendingly, ignores you (even though they have maybe 2 customers there at the time you're waiting) and doesn't even seem like she's nice to the other staff.
Would consider going back, but only because the location is so perfect. Chances are though, we would likely stay at another hotel though in a similar area.
Ah, Hotel Zoso...
I will keep it short and simple for those wanting a cliff note review.
Parking = $25 wow, really? this is palm springs not Beverly Hills!
Interior Decor = Fair.
Check in = Older Lady with wavy/curly redish hair at the front desk must have skipped the customer service training day. Skip the bullsh*t lady, I'm in sales, you can't bullsh*t a bullsh*tter.
On a side note, the girl working the night shift was a pleasant surprise! Great attitude and great on the eyes!
Pool Party = I had fun, but this was more than likely due to the fact that I drank more than Rossie O' Donnel at a bi-sexual bridal shower. Glendale was in FULL Force this weekend. A lot of thugs also, but wasn't all that bad since we didn't get into any confrontations with them. The Dj was "ok". I've heard better music at other places.
Service = Hmmm... I want to say it sucked REAL bad, but the actual manager who was on duty for saturday helped us out a bit with the wrist band situation. He was understanding and was helpful.
As for us trying to get towels and Toilet paper... The person at the friend desk said "hmm, let me see what i can do for you"... We asked for towels and toilet paper, not Beluga Caviar flown over night from the Caspian Sea and delivered to us by a Russian Gang Lord with an Iranian Mistress in a Bentley Phantom sitting on 22" Ashanti rims and Kumho low pros fresh off the factory line in Korea.
All in all the experience was "zoso" aka "soso". I probably wont be back unless there is a killer deal. I did have fun over the weekend though thanks to massive amounts of alcohol consumption.

I got what I needed out of Hotel Zoso: a comfortable and clean room within walking distance to shops/restaurants. Hubby and I stayed here for two nights for Coachella weekend and were completely satisfied. I found a great rate on http://travelzoo.com so I jumped at the chance to book it.
Here's the deal:
PROS:
+The location can't be beat.
+The rate (subjective, I know. But it was a major plus for me)
+The look/feel of the hotel.
+The look/feel of the guest rooms. The king room was huge. Comfy bed/pillows, nice decor, long desk and the bathroom tile and shower was nice.
+Concierge was nice. He made reservations at the Falls restaurant across the street. Great suggestion.
+Amenities - and I made sure to take advantage of the $9 "resort fee". Free newspaper, Italian orange-flavored bath products, bottled Arrowhead water, shuttle to 5 miles radius, robes, pool towels and use of pool table near the bar.
+bartender was nice.
+there was a guitarist playing background music the day we checked out. nice for the ambience.
+DJ playing on weekend mornings
+they honored my late checkout request to 1pm.
CONS
-the pool is tiny and it's only 4'. maybe they should label it as a wading pool.
-the front office staff is not very personable. and my requests for above "free amenities" were met over the phone with obvious sighs. umm....it's available to guests, why question it?
-we didn't get to see the house band that plays every night. They were out on tour or something.
I did my research on yelp and tripadvisor before booking and came well prepared. I expected the $20 valet (thank god for ins/outs), the $9 resort fee, the small pool.... So if you go knowing this in advance, you'll be alright.
I'll keep this short and simple.
Save yourself the trouble, money and hassle. Do NOT come here. The a/c wasn't even working in one of the rooms. The pool party wasn't as great as they hyped it up to be and I have a bigger pool at my APARTMENT. The service was not all that great as well.

I was a little nervous to stay here after reading the bad reviews on Yelp, but the Zoso was totally fine. In fact, you can't really ask for a better location. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was big and comfortable with great beds and a nice shower. I found the pool to be standard yet clean and there were plenty of chairs. The "East Lobby" definitely needs some new carpet on the 2nd and 3rd floors and the elevator is a little sketchy, but I did not really have any problems with the elevators. It would be nice if they had a fitness center.
I prefer the Viceroy, but would consider staying here again.
So not worth the $200/night we paid to stay here. The good news is that Hotel Zoso is in a great location, right in downtown and within blocks of many restaurants. The other great thing is that the rooms are huge. Oh, and there's free wifi in your room.
But seriously?
This place fuckin' reeks. The main lobby area wasn't so bad but the other adjacent building where our room was stunk like a mixture of old cigarettes and cleaning products. The Boy commented that it smells like an old folks' home.
Customer service was almost non-existent here. There's a concierge desk but no concierge. If you're lucky, there's one person at the reception desk. We tried calling the front desk from our room and got no answer. Nice! We pulled up to the valet area after returning to dinner and no one came out for a good 5 minutes. The valet guy came running up to us from god knows where wearing a flannel shirt. I was a little scared to hand over my keys to him. BTW, overnight parking has jumped up to $20. Bullshit...
The decor was modern and cool...NOT. Okay, maybe like in the early 90s it would have been considered cool. Red walls with matching red arm chairs? No, thanks. Red deck chairs arranged in a circle and used for inside seating? Yuck.
We also found someone's old sock in our room. Thank goodness this was while we were packing up to go. I thought it was the Boy's but after inspecting it, he declared that it was not his. Too bad this was after he had touched it.
"EWWWW, you touched someone else's dirty sock!!"
Do not stay here. You've been warned.

Hotel Zoso is aptly named for the wrong reason. I'm sure it is not named after the great Led Zeppelin album (no Led Zeppelin references in the hotel anywhere) but rather the word Soso. If striving for mediocrity is what they were going for, then they've succeeded and they deserve a pat on the back for reaching their goal.
Our stay from beginning to end was below satisfactory for the following reasons:
1) When we decided to make a reservation here, they upsold us the Cabana for the Saturday pool party as if they were going to have a bumpin' pool party. We reserved the cabana and turns out the pool party was really not all that bumpin'. We reserved the cabana for a large party but they were short on number of wristbands for our entire party and insisted that they have to sell us additional wristbands
2) We called for service on 3 different occassions within a 2 hr span to get more TP and towels, and they never came. We ended up having to get it ourselves from the housekeeping carts in the hallway
3) We called to get large trashbags to clean up our mess in the room which they quickly obliged but not without telling us to make sure we take our own trash out. Like seriously, do you ask respectful hotel guests who are trying to help clean their mess up to take out their own trash!?
4) we never had a tougher time checking in and out of a hotel...EVER! The process was painful and the staff failed at expediting the process.
I'm not sure what the clientele's like usuallly but for whatever reason, there was a large number of Armo's partyin up at Zoso this past weekend and appears that some of them even got themselves in trouble with the law that day. It's almost like chillin in Glendale for the weekend, only hotter ;-)
Couple suggestions to the owners...ever consider renaming the hotel to Hotel Z, it sounds better and doesn't rhyme with Soso. Seriously, get a better paintjob, it looks like poo poo.

I'm going to avoid talking about the generals of this place, since everybody seem to agree that its a nice place, great location and very comfortable room.... now to the stuff that caught my attention: The front desk personnel needs some classes on how to "look like your are happy" even though you are hating the world and their Prada sunglasses because this girl that did our registration seemed like was doing us a favor with a fake smile... The pool felt like it was designed for ducks and not people: small and shallow. thumbs up for the Marguerite Pizza on the in-room service menu, very tasty and the service was quick and attentive..
Besides that nothing else was relevantly important...Its just an ok hotel, served its purpose...
I will go ahead and give the fourth star based on the friendliness of the staff. Ambiance is excellent. Comfy beds. Weird elevators. Costly parking and rooms.
Pool party on Saturday was fun but the non stop dance/rap music was not relaxing. Also, you can hear it in your room. No napping from noon to 5:00 p.m.
No complaints though as the fraternity guys who had come in from UCLA for a formal brought plenty of eye candy to watch at the pool.
I found the staff was very attentive to us and our group and very friendly. Room service breakfast was good but nothing to write home about. Great location.
Price: The price for a 4 stars hotel is great, however they have hidden fees that you will have to pay once you confirm your RSVP. ie. utility, overnight , and parking fee. (i suggest u park on the street rather than paying $20 for their parking)
Room: The rooms are huge, clean and overall excellent
Customer service: I didn't have a problem with anything , however I can see why people can get frustrated because there are no specific signs to tell you want to do when you line up to check in. Luckily there was no line for me. We wanted a late check out but didn't get one, when they say we could have gotten one the day before.
After 2 stays on separate occasions and both were pleasing.
The bed is so soft and the room has a very nice 42' tele but more than half of the channels were snowing. We only got about 10 good channels and most were espns or the news. Unfortunately, I missed the Laker game, but I was okay after they had lost.
The service experience is a positive. When our room didn't have any shower caps for my girl, I think the security guy brought them up in about 3 minutes. We called ahead for our car to be brought around and when we walked out it was ready to go.
The apples in the lobby at the front desk were great and I think they were grapples!
It's in a great location that is within walking distance to many restaurants on palm canyon. the downside to a nice location is the $20 overnight valet. They can at least include it in the price of a nightly stay.
I've never tried the restaurant in the hotel or even the bar and I don't think it would make a difference either way.
I give 5 stars because:
- THE BED WAS GLORIOUS
- Room service was TASTY and there's just something about having breakfast on the balcony overlooking the pool that makes me feel very naughty. I suppose the fact that I was naked helped.
- You can't beat the http://palmsprings.com rate
- Location, location, location! Walking distance from shops & restaurants downtown... a short drive to more shops & restaurants...
I did have drinks at the bar and spent some lovely time at the pool, but I did not try the restaurant nor did I watch TV. That's what I like to do: I like to sleep and have breakfast at the hotels I stay in... Maybe cocktails by the pool. I don't like to watch TV or eat at the hotel restaurant. I like to go out and explore and find yummy places to eat out on the town.
Hotel Zoso is like a really attractive person but with a horrible personality. Looks are deceiving! But let me start from the begining:
We arrive to find that parking is 20 dollars overnight. LAME. However, we find parking on the street in the back of the hotel. I'll let that one slide because the hotel looks pretty promising from the outside.
I step inside to find that its actually very nice. Looks clean and has a nice decor. They let us check in early which was great so I was feeling pretty good. Our room was really nice. Big comfy beds, nice bathroom, and pretty roomy. Too bad everything went downhill after that.
We make our way over to the pool and find that its more like a puddle than a pool. SERIOUSLY? The pool is TINY! I would have been okay with that since it was a weekday and we were pretty much the only ones in sight but man the water was FILTHY! Pool water shouldn't be blurry and filled with THAT many bugs.
Even so I was thinking it's not that bad. Since bar wasn't open and there was no one around we could order drinks from, we brought in some coke and water. Two minutes later a staff member comes to tell us no outside drinks alowed..not even water. WTF if the bar isn't open what am I supposed to do?? Still, we put our drinks away and decided to get in the water. Wow the pool water is even worse when you get in. Dead bugs EVERYWHERE and a weird white oily layer on the water. One of my friends has super sensitive skin so she was just curious as to when the last time they cleaned the water was. Called the front desk which transfered her over to engineer and asked. The engineer was super rude but said he would send some one over to clean. Some one finally came and danced around the pool with a net for 30 seconds and called that cleaning a pool. I could have done better. We just tried to make the most of it by tanning and grudingly taking a dip every now and then to cool off.
After dinner we returned to our room and chit chatted a bit. Around 10:40 PM a staff member comes to tell us that there was a noise complaint. SERIOUSLY? I'm sorry but what kind of nazi place is this? It's not even 11 and there's a noise complaint? We were not even being loud. I wasn't aware i wasn't allowed to speak in my own hotel room that I'm paying for! That pretty much killed the night and our experience. The next morning I found that the coffee maker and safe do not work. Awesome! There was no way we were going to spend another day at Zoso so we went to Morongo and paid 20 bucks to use their pool all day. Best decision we made during the trip. Morongo was AWESOME! We weren't even staying there but got better service and the pool was CLEAN! Pretty amazing considering how many more people use that pool. I would NEVER EVER go back to Zoso! I think that hotel should change its management for sure!
Basically hotel Zoso is like a nicely decorated old folks home. NO FUN allowed! ICK!

FYI, nothing to do with Led Zeppelin : - (
... I hate the anxiety I get dealing with the front desk whenever I try to upgrade or get a better room. I was able to avoid that by sending an email request to the manager a couple of days in advance. Within an hour they replied to assure me that I would get the exact type of room I requested. When I checked in, everything went as smooth as it gets.
Zoso is new and hip ala Ian Schrager-Phillipe Starck modern. The room, bathroom and patio are all large and beautifully decorated -- 42" plasma, huge white leather ottoman, Aeron chair, wifi, magnifying mirror, etc.
The pool is petite, the music was loud and good. I ordered food that was not on the menu and the bartender at the pool bar personally took care of it for me -- and his Bloody Mary's hit the spot.
Most of the staff was eager to please, although when I needed a Red Bull at midnight, the guy cleaning the bar didn't understand and the front desk blew me off and told me about a Circle K which sounded too far away.
This is not a hotel for kids, but then again bringing kids to downtown Palm Springs is a mistake anyway. I like Hotel Zoso a lot, and would love to go back first chance I get.

I'm giving this hotel 3 stars because it is a 3 star hotel. OK, a 3 star hotel with an ikea face-lift. The rooms etc are right on par with your typical Radisson etc with a modern touch and Aeron Chair.
Don't get me wrong. This hotel is a pretty good bang for the buck. You can walk everywhere and the rooms are pretty romantic. But it's hard to get over all the cut corners they pull to save a buck.
Despite all this... if I go back to Palm Springs I will probably stay at the Zoso again. It's walkable to a lot of restaurants etc and it was pretty cool (as long as the lights are low).
Be prepared for
- the elevators to be scary and/or not work
- pay $20 a night for valet
- pay $10+ a night "resort fee"
- "eh" service
*The resort fee covers:
- The water - won't be in your room (trust me they are out)
- Robes - you have to call house keeping for them (yes, that's there policy)
- Shuttle - pretty much everything is walkable
- WiFi - should be free
I think it is time to strike a warning to other travelers to Palm Springs about this otherwise really nice looking property. Or as Zoolander would have said it, ridiculously good looking.
Basically, before you guys decide to book this property, you should spend time to read through the 1 and 2 star reviews on Yelp. Just consider yourselves warned. This hotel has been for a long time one of the cool places to be in Palm Springs, but it is turning into a hit or miss type of situatuon- and it is rather pricey if you think about it.
If you want a really nice hip property, perhaps you should try some of the smaller boutique hotels of Palm Springs, which offer a very superior hospitality / experience. Support smaller businesses that take care of their customers and rely on your full satisfaction.

If I could give this place no stars I would!
I stayed there three years ago with my boyfriend and it was fantastic. The pool is small but there were not too many people there so it was fine. We had drinks and ate by the pool. The room was really nice and overall we had a great stay.
We returned this year to the WORST experience ever. We got there on Saturday morning and they told us there was going to be a pool party starting at noon. Being in our twenties, we though this sounded great.
It was great for about 1 hour until about 20 gangs members with all their friends and girlfriends. Immediately our nice/fun pool environment turned into them doing cannonballs (in the 10 by 10 pool) splashing everyone and being very disruptive and offensive. There were cigarettes and shot glasses lining the entire pool area.
Needless to say, we checked out immediately, and went to a friends house nearby. When we checked out we were forced to pay for the first night (we were only there for four hours and in the room for 15 mins) and were told that three other people had complained.
Since being home I have found out that none of the problem people by the pool were guests, they paid to get into the 'pool party'. If I would have know that was possible I wouldn't have booked a room there. I have tried getting a refund and they will not give me one. I am still trying and will not stop until I receive my money back.
Oh yeah, one last little bit of fun, when we went to our room to leave, there was someone passed out in the hall in front of our room.

This is a very nice hotel with beautiful modern decorations. We really enjoyed our stay here and have no complaints. From beginning to end it was great. The staff was very helpful and polite. Our room was very nice and clean. Our room faced the pool, which was nice. The hotel is within walking distance of downtown Palm Springs. Great for a night out, if you can handle the heat. I would definitely stay here again if I ever visit Palm Springs again.
I was about to give this hotel 5 stars, but then when I got into the elevator, the stars began to drop.
The room itself was great. 42" flat screen tv, clean sheets, nice towels, roomie desk, spacious room, and even smelled clean. The view and balcony was amazing.
Now back to the elevator. It was a short trek to get to the elevetor, then the buttons didn't work. You need your room key to make the elevator move, then the elevator door opened and that MUSKY smell enveloped us. Then I tripped on the carpet. The carpet bubbled up all over, so if you are not watching your step you will trip on it.
The hotel looks like someone came in, took over a dumpy hotel, and did a quick flip from a low end hotel to a luxury hotel in a few months.
This is the most central spot of any hotel in Palm Springs. You have the best hamburger jot across the street, and a block down you are in touristville, with a Great affordable dinner spot.
For the price, I will stay here again. The service is friendly and fast.
Our stay was very nice.
I would advise to park on the street instead of using valet.
There is tons of street parking in the back.
The pool was very cloudy, but it could be because it was packed the entire weekend.
The room was very nice and clean.
The location was great.
Once you park your car, you won't really need it.
We walked to some great restaurants nearby and even to the casino.
Our stay was quiet too, despite the whole third floor being occupied by a fraternity and sorority.
Never even noticed they were there except when we passed by the pool.
There is also live entertainment in the lobby/bar area.
Hotel Zoso is an upper-midlevel establishment located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs. The hotel's location is superb. As a guest you are very close to many restaurants and various boutiques.
The rooms are very comfortable and feature modern chic décor. The furnishings are awesome. My only slight qualm is the cable package is very basic for having a rather cool flat screen HDTV hung on the wall.
The service was just OK. We did not have any problems, per se, but I did notice the rather unhelpful attitude of the front desk to a guest in front of us.
The price is affordable. We got a weeknight at the end of July for $100 per night (including tax) and a weekend night for $160. Be sure to check Zoso's own website for special package deals on two and three night stays.
Unfortunately our stay ended on a sour note. Upon checkout we were informed that there would be an additional $9 "resort fee." This was explained as being necessary for the hotel to provide wifi, bottled water (which is clearly marked as "pro-bono"), and newspapers. That's lame. Just raise the prices people.
Three stars - I'd go back.

Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend and couldn't have been more pleased. The rooms are modern and spacious. Room service was very well priced, and fast/attentive.
Location couldn't be beat. We could (but not loudly) hear the music from Hunter's on the other side, so the gay bars were right around the bend. Cocktail service at the pool was great. They even had a BBQ for the holiday weekend which was also great. All in all, we had a really great time and felt the hotel far surpassed our needs. And we're high maintenance!
No charge for wi-fi. No charge for dogs. And our nightly rate was very good. Wtf the other's bitching about?
All in all, highly recommend. Definitely making Zoso our regular place to stay. Cheers.

Hotel Zoso?
More like Hotel So-so.
For $250+ / night you get...
- no fridge
- no robes or slippers
- INFLATED mandatory $18/night parking fee (unless you want to walk around the block with your baggage)
- unreliable housekeeping - cleaning came only 2 out of the 3 days to change our sheets and give new towels (WTF, seriously)
- on their site they boasted having authentic Shag prints, but there were none in sight/on site
- no TV on demand (not that I watch tv all the time, but having the option WOULD BE nice, esp. on that 42" HDTV...you get standard cable instead)
- decor was nice, but it wasn't quite the "design" hotel I was hoping for
- bad dinosaur rock from a Jimmy Buffet cover singer on weekend nights (which attracts the +40 and family types)
- one bartender on the daytime shift (serving everyone at the pool and lobby bar)
Another thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was that we made reservations online requesting a king bed and got two double beds. When we called front desk to get the room switched, they told us that we needed to call and ask for a king bed room and that the two doubles was all they had (seriously, WTF).
If you don't mind throwing your money away, then come here.

In my room at Hotel Zoso right now, enjoying some free wifi and cooling off from the 100+ degree weather. I could never live in weather like this! Anyway, I'm loving the Zoso. The rooms are great (even though our standard room has a shitty view of a parking lot)... huge flat screen tv, really REALLY comfy beds, and a great shower. The pool is awesome, with those mist things all over the place so you never get too hot.
Perfect location for wandering around downtown PS. Everything worth checking out is within walking distance. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel... its worth it.
Driving up to the hotel, first impression was great. Lovely looking exterior.
Ehh mandatory valet, super blah for me because i like being responsible for my own shit.
Walking inside, is great for all the senses. Aromatherapy, chill music, beautiful decor. The room was lovely big comfy beds, big screen TV (even though I refuse to watch TV when I'm on vacation) big bathroom, balcony, and again modern decor.
Pool area was perfect. Cabanas. Bar. Misters. Spa and Pool (pool was only 4ft).
Room service kicked ass. Not too expensive, and it was one of the best buffalo wings ever!!!
I love this place its super modern with lots of young people (not too many screaming kids at the pool), which is why this place gets a 5.
