19 reviews for Hotel Murano
One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
It's no wonder Conde Nast Traveler just named Murano to its readers choice list of the 100 best hotels in the US. In fact, Murano was #6. [In the world it ranks #72, not bad when you consider the competition: the whole world].
This place is visionary, spectacular, and it fills me with wonder and glee. Glass art serves as ballast and counterpoint to the Museum of Glass down the street. Meeting rooms offer places for breakout sessions from the convention center a block away.
Dale Rush greets every guest with a smile as they enter, and by name when he can, and the service only gets better.
Each floor is a mini-gallery featuring the work of a different glass artist. Each room is decked in modern decor yet never feels cold or aloof. Each bedside comes with an iPod dock alarm and a menu of spiritual books to choose from.
And BITE Restaurant is serves up some tasty, gourmet breakfast lunch and dinner at some very moderate prices.
Murano is yet another reason to stay a night and really explore Tacoma.
Pretty modern lookin place. Went for a christmas party so we drank and grubbed away at the food. I was a little surprised at the service due to the fact that they gave us a staff for our party and they were still pretty slow.
The food was good and drinks were good. Place looks really cool. Have yet to stay a night here, but would like to.
If you like modern , glass, and artsy, gotta come stay at the Murano.
Beds are very nice and comfy , rooms are always very clean, service is great, food and drinks very good.
Location is very easy to get around, located close to sights and dinning. This is my second time we have stayed for several days , and will come back , when we come to visit family in Tacoma.
Rooms are a wee bit on the small side , but overall location, price, cleanness and restful stay, I will give the Murano 4.6
The place was booked with weddings all weekend during our stay here. And the wedding decor and space was so gorgeous.

We also stayed here on New Year's Eve last year and took in some of the First Night activities Tacoma had to offer. Another excellent stay. Just made my reservations to stay here again for my job's Christmas Party next month, definitely looking forward to it, as is my dog, Agnes. (2 paws up for the dog friendly service)

Hotel Murano is definitely the best hotel in Tacoma! And, they are dog friendly. They normally… Read more »
I stayed here last night while in town for a Halloween party. I found the hotel to be really nice and I really enjoyed my stay. All of the employees were very nice and helpful. I am looking forward to coming back very soon.
Next time, the Silver Cloud for a stay in Tacoma. Silver Cloud is always cheaper and never disappoints at any location. Where the Murano is not as crummy as the Max in Seattle, and is actually kind of charming and makes good use of the space it's in, it's still an unspeakable rip-off. Despite ample parking, you pay to park -- there are hotels in Seattle at a similar price-point with parking included. They seem to be aiming for 5-star hotel cliches, including charging you for WiFi. In-room temperature controls are locked down and unsatisfying on a hot day or night. All told, a one night stay in a tiny room came to $256 including porn and parking and a lot of taxes. Just ridiculous. This is Tacoma, not San Francisco or New York.

Young, hip, modern and appropriate in theme. Not how you'd describe its Seattle sister, the Hotel… Read more »
We recently attended the Dive and Travel show at the convention center and chose the Murano based on location. We discovered that with a phone call to the desk, we could save several hundred for a weekend stay by asking about packages. We got free internet and Valet parking along with a $20 per day restaurant voucher for about half of the rack rate.
Upon checking in we found the desk staff efficient, the valet was prompt and everyone was very friendly. While the room isn't exactly "big", it was roomy enough and elegantly furnished. The only problem was that the air conditioning didn't cool the room down very fast but the windows opened enough to cool it off.
We used the restaurant twice for breakfast and once for dinner and the food is excellent. However, the breakfast service is poor at best. The "helpers" that were supposed to be getting coffee and water would ask what you wanted and then wander off. It took 12 minutes before they took my order the first day but only 8 the second. But for dinner they were impeccable. Water glasses were never empty, dirty dishes never sat on the table and the entire meal was memorable. While not cheap, the hotel voucher brought the pricing into line with moderate places. The only thing really missing to make this a spot for a weekend getaway is a pool.
Over all an excellent hotel and a very good value if you shop right.
4.5
The owners of this hotel decided to modernize this property to the fullest, complete with a modern lobby, open three level space, artsy and decored up! Every floor in this hotel features a different artist from around the world.
The workout gym is excellent, nice and spacious, and better than average selection of machines and weights.
There is no free wifi!
The lobby is amazing (unusual collection and eclectic!), the rooms are very comfortable with modern updates.
I love the fireplace lounge to chill.
We went on a Thanksgiving holiday weekend to beat the Seattle traffic rush in order be with family in Tacoma. We had a nice dinner in the lounge the night we arrived. It was not mind blowing, but good enough. The Lobster "corn dog bites", really interesting!
It would have been a VERY good thing to let us know that the next day the entire restaurant would be closed when we booked the room.
This was a MAJOR disappointment as much of the rest of DT Tacoma was also closed. They did give us a sack lunch, gratis. But for the $$$ we paid for the room, it would have been lovely to have a nice, lingering breakfast in the morning......a bit unsatisfying that it was not available, nor warned as such.
We chose the Murano for a quick overnight in Tacoma. We didn't want to spend a lot but also don't like to stay anywhere dirty or where they obviously don't care. The lobby is beautifully designed as are the rooms - everything was unique about it and they included a lot of local art.
We got a special rate on the hotel's website. We would definitely go back again.
I got to stay in a king suite for free so this review has absolutely no relation to value. I stayed here when it was the Sheraton and, let me just say, the decor is soooo much better now! The rooms are very modern, the furniture has clean lines, and the blown glass everywhere is an interesting, unique touch.
The staff is very nice and helpful and the location is great (not that downtown Tacoma is the best place to be in the world...)
I spent last weekend at the Hotel Murano. Used to be the Tacoma Sheraton, but they've effectively killed any remaining bad memories of that hotel. In its place, Hotel Murano has given the interior a much needed facelift.
It's super modern feeling, and the staff is very helpful. We had a beautiful view of Mount Rainier and the surrounding hills. Definitely recommended.
I had to find a hotel downtown Tacoma and there was an option of the Murano or the Marriot. I chose Murano because it was 60 dollars cheaper than the Marriot. I ended up spending one night for $260 at the Murano, expensive in my opinion. My problems with this hotel is that it was still in construction. Parts of the hotel was not done. I would think paying this amount would give me the virtue of nice scenary, but nope... instead I got an unfinished hallway and construction noise through out the day.
A few days later, I hopped online to my bank's website and saw that I was charged the $260 + $300, giving it a grand total of $560! I called Murano and spoke to the billing person, thinking that they made a mistake and must've charged me for two days. Instead, she said it was a $300 smoking fee! Which one, I saw no signs for no smoking, nor did it say that I had a non-smoking room. I didn't have a rock star experience and crashed the room with cigarette butts all over the floor. If so, I would understand the hefty fee. The billing lady was not understanding and completely rude. I told her that my boyfriend will call, being that it was under his name. So he calls and he asks to talk to her manager. Of course he's not there, so he leaves a voicemail. It's been over a week and the manager hasn't returned our call!
How many Febreeze bottles can you get for $300?!! I would never stay there ever again.
I LOVED the Savi Day Spa. So awesome. I went for a massage which was so great and a body wrap. They also let me relax in this jetted spa bath for an hour, it was fantastic. The only thing I would say is take the whole day to hang out here. They don't have clocks and everything moves very slowly. I had another appointment and ended up being late. Also put your feet under the bar in the jetted tub, I ended up being bounced around until I figured that part out. Overall it was great and next time I'm in Tacoma, I'll make an appointment.
It's sooooo lovely to have found this place in Tacoma. Being new to South Sound, it's a great way to get to know Tacoma - staying in one of their beautiful rooms and hoofing it around downtown. The Murano offers an excellent location, wondrous views, great amenities, genuinely helpful and friendly service, awe inspiring art, and fantastically hip (and cozy) common areas. I particularly enjoy the fireplace lobby lounge. The upstairs lounge/restaurant is nice too. Great menu. An all-around grand experience.
This is the best place to stay in Tacoma and it really is a very gorgeous hotel. I used to stay here when it was a Sheraton and they really transformed the space into something cool and elegant. The staff, from the front desk to the room cleaners, are really nice and polite. The location is great if you're visiting the Museum of Glass, The Museum of Washington History or the Tacoma Museum of Art (you can walk to them all). They have Aveda products, which is nice, because they smell good. The beds are super comfortable (the kind you don't want to get out of in the morning). The decor is gorgeous. There are some very expensive pillows in the rooms that I want (made by Adam & Victoria -- they go for about $200 each). There is glass work all over the place. Each floor is dedicated to a different artist which is really cool. Even the key cards are cool -- they each feature one of the artists. I highly recommend staying here if you are in Tacoma. I guess some people like that old timey hotel feeling, but not me. I love the modern, artsy-fartsy stuff.
Whenever I stay here I always feel great about the service and cleanliness of the rooms. The staff treat you like royalty and you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to stay in a very posh place like this. There's free parking in their own garage and snacks when you get to your room. Check this place out and compare prices!
I have a strange affinity for glass art, so when I saw the Hotel Murano featured in a magazine alongside The Tacoma Glass Museum, I suggested a birthday weekend getaway for me and my mom. The feel of the Hotel Murano is similar to the W - but without the loud pumping music. It's a little on the dark side, sleek, and overly hip. But, unexpectedly, the people who worked here were all very nice and helpful. It's not the type of place where employees go out of their way to say hello or ask you if you need anything, but I found folks to be very helpful. Rooms were pretty standard - everything clean and great bathrooms which are strangely difficult to find in hotels, even upscale ones. The fitness center is clean - with individual televisions on the aerobic machines (2 elliptical, 2 treadmills) and free. I had breakfast one morning at Bite - the hotel restaurant - again, everyone was very nice and the prices were reasonable for a hotel breakfast. They do charge for internet access in the business center, which I find unnecessary - though it is free for printing boarding passes - and valet parking is relatively reasonable at $15/day. Easy walk to Starbuck's and the free light rail. Also a spa and salon on site, which I sadly did not try out. And the highlight - beautiful glass art on every floor - in general the Hotel Murano seems to be a great addition to a city in revitalizaton mode.
