On the surface, this is a nice hotel. Good location, pretty lobby, but incompetent staff and a lot of missed touches. Like lipstick on a pig.

We arrived and our room was ready but there was a tray of half eaten food just beside the door to the room. It's ugly, but no problem I'll call them to get it. We left the room at 5pm to go out for the night and I noticed it was still there, so I told the front desk guy (Jason) it was still there. He assured me it would be gone when I got back. A fun night out and perhaps one too many cocktails, but when it was still there, I picked it up and carried it down to the front desk and Jason began to tell me how he had done his job and room service must have messed up. Dude, just own up to it... it doesn't matter who's fault it is. In this case, you all work as a team so just apologize for the hotel and forget about who's fault it is.

Hotel does not have on site parking after assuring me they did. They offer valet out front, but you still have to wait for your car while they go around the corner in another building to get it. Concierge hours are inconsistent at best. I called them 3 days prior to arrival and didn't get a call back for two days. Apparently there is only one on staff so if it isn't 8-4 Tue-Sat, you don't get any fucking help.

The bathtub, fixtures, and bath curtain are straight out of motel 6, the Doubletree Albuquerque we stayed in the following night had this hotel torn to shreds in every aspect, including bed quality and service.  THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE FLAT PANEL TV'S!!!!

Hotel Monaco is good if you are on a budget and want something in a good location. I'm going to try Hotel Oxford or Browne Palace next time.

Someone ( a local Denver person who shall remain nameless but he knows who he is) described this hotel's lobby as looking like if the Cheshire Cat had thrown up all over it. Granted, it is a little colorful but it's not just the lobby the entire hotel has a colorfully striped motif. However, what do stripes matter when you have complimentary summer sangria and ice pops?

From the moment I checked in Jason (great front desk attendant) offered me a complimentary bottle of wine. Since I'm not a wine-o I turned it down and took prize B: two bottles of water. Wait, is that all the wine was worth?!

Anyways, I had a nice room, great service, and a great deal I booked directly through the hotel's site.

You should know the following:
- bathrooms are small here
- if you are on the 3rd floor you may be above the noisy 2nd floor
- if you are near the elevator you may occasionally here the ding or beep
- they have a wine hour
- 15 min free internet use a day
- print boarding passes downstairs on the computer

Please know that this hotel proved it's customer service when they didn't penalize me after I was stranded in another city and couldn't make it to town for another day. They were understanding, patient, and helpful.

Enough to leave a cheshire grin on this girl.

Hotel Monaco  is fun, colorful, quirky, and awesome. Even when was it was the smallest and most expensive room ($109/night) we booked for our road trip, they really deserve their 5 stars from me.

Why?

1.) It's located smack dab in downtown Denver. Whenever we travel to big cities, I try to make sure that we're just a walk away from where the action is. This place didn't disappoint: It's a walk away from the 16th Street Mall, Colorado Convention Center, as well as eateries and what not.

2.) Bright colored rooms! Our room didn't come with a view, but the bright yellow and white stripes on the wall and the funky colored decor made our experience different than the other places we've stayed at so far.

3.) The complimentary goldfish companion. You might be thinking, " You know, you can go to your local pet store to stare at a goldfish. *rolleyes* " Um, yea. I know I can do that, but I can't do that in any other hotel in Denver while on vacation. Alright, so  I'm easily amused, but the goldfish did provide me with some amusement during my downtime.

3.) A booze loving hotel! Their $109/night deal on their website came with a bottle of wine. They offer a complimentary evening wine reception where you can have a glass or three of pinot grigio or shiraz. One of their staff also told us that their goal is to make sure that we get drunk and that we hit every watering hole nearby the hotel. Gotta love a hotel that loves to make sure that their guests are happy drunks.

4.) Free wifi...because sometimes, it's good to be connected when we have some downtime.

5.) Pet-friendly. We didn't have any pets when we stayed here, but just an FYI for those traveling with dogs and cats.

I wish we could have stayed here longer, but we'll keep this place in mind again if we decide to go back to visit Denver.

This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are well decorated, its quiet and the location is ideal. You are just around the corner from the 16th Street Mall and an easy stroll to the State Capital.

Every staff member we met was helpful and very friendly. You can't go wrong here. On top of all that they have some fantastic rates available right now on their website. I highly recommend Hotel Monaco.

I'm gonna go for it and give these guys 5 stars - which is pretty huge, given how grumpy I normally get about hotels.

This hotel met or exceeded all my expectations.  I was holed up in my room quite a bit on this trip, since I had lots of work to do, early morning phone calls, etc.  On most trips, when I need to do this in my hotel, I find the compulsion to run away as fast as possible when I'm done.  None of that happened this time: the room was cozy, well-lit, well-equipped, great internet access, etc.

The staff was cordial, fun, and friendly.  The location was perfect - short walk to 16th St Mall, LoDo, Larimer Sq, etc.  Even the on-site restaurant was really good.

I paid $116/night for this on http://Hotels.com - which to me was an amazing deal.  Pretty sure it usually costs more than that, but perhaps it was a last-minute offer.

This place is one of the best balances between a solid/traditional hotel, and more off-beat boutique.  I guess that's exactly what I would want - and a niche that Kimpton fills well.  I intend to stay at more Kimptons now.

My room wasn't  that big, mind you - so if that's most important to you, you may want to ask them about options.  And, I was alone - so you may want to ask them if they have bigger rooms in-house if you're with a partner or family.  But, what it lacked in size, it more than made up for in comfort, style, and convenience.

This is where I'll stay next time I'm in Denver.  Very happy about it!

I absolutely love Hotel Monaco.

I've had occasion to stay in the Seattle location in the past and I was looking for a romantic retreat while in Denver last week.. This was the first place I looked.

Located in the heart of the city, the hotel provided a perfect place to drop of the vehicle and set off on foot. The Hotel is hip, quirky and made us feel perfectly at home.

I'll definitely be back.

This hotel is fantastic!!

The service is phenomenal, the decor is way cute, the location is superb, and best of all....they are dog friendly!!! I unfortunately was unable to bring Mara the Sexy Dog, but I loved seeing all the other doggies running around.  I even saw the staff taking a little guy for a walk while his mommy was away during the day working. Its also really cute to see them all hanging with their owners during the complimentary happy hour.

They also have a resident goldfish in each room with a little note telling you all about their goldfishies (did you know they can live up to 75 years with proper care?!)

The Hotel Monaco is the best kind of boutique hotel. The design thoughtfully walks the line of form and function without becoming trite or feeling forced. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and treated us wonderfully the whole time we were there, even though we booked our room on Orbitz and got a rate about $60/night less than the rack rate.

The room itself was gorgeous, and well thought-out. The bath products they use  were stunning: Mama Q kept looking for a maid's cart to hijack. The lobby is actually designed to be used as a public space. The nightly wine tasting is well-discussed, but they also have board games, books, and a ton of big, comfy chairs. They got a kick out of Little Q running around the place playing with their dog toys.

All told, the Monaco is my ideal hotel. Unique without being ridiculous. The staff is incredibly service-oriented without being stuffy.

My only complaint about the Monaco is the valet: they kept moving my seat back and changing the channel on the radio to speed metal. Look, I get it: being a valet offers little in the way of creativity at work.

NOTE: If you do take a car to the Monaco suck it up and pay the $25 per night valet fee, however. There are some city lots nearby, but they do not offer overnight rates, and reset their hourly meters at 6am - meaning you'll pay just as much to park in some city lot as you would to valet it at the hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel many times. The Monaco boutique hotel is incredible. Some of the rooms are small, so be sure to ask for the largest room possible.

The restaurant that is attached to the hotel is also wonderful.

We stayed here for our Honeymoon and it was divine! We got the ultra-swank John Lennon suite with groovy original lyrics on the wall. We didn't bring the kitties, but I was thrilled with the goldfish in the suite. The hotel is unique and posh and fit the mood for the day perfectly! The room came with a giant cushy bed and a TV that made my husband drool. The bathtub was also deep and inviting and came with a goldfish rubber-ducky type bath toy! A whimsical and wonderful night's stay, we even ordered breakfast in bed!

This was my first trip to Denver and I had heard about Monaco from friends and how dog friendly they are.  They more than exceeded my hopes!  I was in town for a week on business and absolutely loved the place. The hotel is warm, comfortable, and beautiful and (though the front desk staff is a bit chilly), the rest of the staff is wonderfully professional, courteous, and friendly. The door staff was especially accomodating and took great care of me and Digger. I loved the super comfortable down beds, turndown service, the beautiful lobby, the altitude adjustment hour (free wine! and a chance to be social), and the bathroom stocked with aveda products...not some cheap smelly stuff!
Digger was well taken care of with treats and tons of attention.  Of all the cities I have visited, I find Denver to be the most pet friendly and pretty much friendly overall.

Hotel Monaco is a gem to be experienced in Denver! I found the hotel manager, TIm Hood, to be exceptionally knowledgeable and welcoming. He knows his history of the hotel buildings, and you can tell that he absolutely loves his job. It's no wonder that the reviews for Hotel Monaco are raving... this is one incredibly well run hotel with a luxurious style, and it's eco-friendly and pet-friendly to boot! What more could you ask for? I will definitely be back there again, and will happily refer this hotel to friends and family.

I stayed here last weekend (Friday and Saturday nights) and was impressed with the Monaco Hotel.  There were primarily three things that gave me a favorable impression:

1) The Staff -  the individual that checked me in on Friday afternoon was extremely pleasant and helpful.  He couldn't stress enough that he and the rest of the staff were available at any time to help me with anything I might need.  Just had a very sincere way about him that was very welcoming.

2) The Food - I was here for work and ended up spending Friday night in my room working.  Ordered dinner from room service, which is provided by their Italian restaurant, Panzano (sp?).  Probably one of the best room service meals I've ever had.

3) The Rate - First time I've been in Denver for work so I'm not sure what room rates are typically like, but at $149/night I thought this was a great deal.  Very clean room, nice size bathroom with high-end finishes.

Also, every night at 5pm in the lobby they have a free wine reception for all their guests.  It was well attended both nights I was there.

My bf and I stayed at the Monaco this past weekend and we had a wonderful time.  We were able to check in at 10:00 am into a clean and spacious room!  The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful, from the doormen to he concierge.  We took part in the evening wine reception, honestly the red that they serve is not that tasty, but you can't be picky when you are dealing with free wine!  Also got there early to get a quick 4 minute chair massage during the reception too.  They do allow pets to stay at the hotel, so I was scared of seeing pet hair in our room, but I didn't even see one! It was very cool to see all the doggies in the lobby!

We also saw Ralph Nader in the hotel lobby.  We will definitely stay at Hotel Monaco the next time we are in Denver!

My sisters and I had our first-ever All Girls Vacation in Denver this past weekend. We're in different cities - the two of them live in Indiana, two hours apart, and I live in California - so it was a big deal for us to be able to get away together.

Staying at the Hotel Monaco was the best choice we could have made. I travel a lot for business, so I've been lucky enough to stay in some great hotels on someone else's dime, including the Hotel Monaco in DC. But my sisters had never stayed in a boutique hotel and this was a wonderful experience for them. We were treated like royalty during our stay, with every little request, from an extra robe to use of a fan, promptly addressed.

It's a beautiful hotel, especially the lobby, but what impressed us most was the staff. I can't say enough about them: they provided great dining recommendations, clear driving directions, and when one of my sisters and I stayed up late to chat in the lobby, we were given two free half-bottles of red wine by the Panzano bartender!

We really enjoyed the hotel. It is more expensive then we usually visit, but we got a good last minute rate. Despite being boutiquey and high-end for us, we did not feel out of place or expected to blow lots of cash on extras. The room was interesting and functional, the staff friendly and the amenities they describe were exactly what there was. Very easy for going downtown stuff. Would visit again if we go back to Denver and want to be downtown.

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at the Hotel Monaco, mostly because the decor was perfect and the food was fantastic (their restaurant, Panzano, catered the wedding). Their site coordinator, Kevin, was fantastic and was really helpful. Unfortunately, the night ended badly, because the bar manager of Panzano was incredibly rude to my guests. It didn't ruin the wedding, but it definitely made it a four-star night, rather than a five-star (and with the kind of money that you're paying, you should get a five star night!)

Had a work meeting here and the snack they provided were pretty tasty.  Our Holiday Work party will be held here so we will most likely tear it up in a good way.  Food will be catered by Panzano's of course so it should be a fun evening.

A comfortable, non-stuffy hotel with a great location...  The lobby dog, wine hour, leopard print bath robes, goldfish in your room to keep you company, it's the small touches that can take a hotel to the next level and their friendly staff ensures that they do not disappoint.
