I went to the Hotel Delmano yesterday to meet w/ a small group and I really liked this place. The space itself is very cute - pleasant, relaxing atmosphere with some outside seating. The decor is like a speakeasy with a few modern touches. The cocktails are all artisan, with fine liquors and fresh ingredients. The cocktail list is a bit pricey, but definitely cheaper than one of Sasha Petraske's bars. So, if you are a cocktail connisseur, this is a good place for you. Great place for a more mature crowd that doesn't want to swig $3 PBRs. I took off one star because the music was a little weird and random. It started out as classical acoustic guitar version of stairway, next was a few acoustic guitar renditions of some salsa hits, and by the time I was leaving they were playing "Dirty Diana" by MJ...very weird and not really fitting with the atmosphere. Still, I highly recommend this hidden spot.

I had a meeting at Hotel Delmano a few weeks ago, and I have to say that I was pretty pleased. Because I'm Yelp-obsessed and have to know what you lot think of anything before I go there, I was a tad bit nervous....and here's why:
I am 22. 22 and counting. But, on my "most grown-up" days, I look 20. At the most. It's not that I dress like a kid, it's just, you know, I have these freckles and this Kansas face. That said, usually any establishment with the slightest bit of pretension, I stay away from. I just don't want to deal with someone treating me like a kid.
I got right in, had no problems with rude staff, and felt completely comfortable. The drinks were amazing. Expensive: yes, of course. Worth it: well, I wasn't paying...but I'd say so anyway. The bartenders know what they're doing and take time to do it, unlike the troughs that usually can be found right around the corner. Don't get me wrong: I am often a pig at those troughs, but if you want to have a special night or dazzle a friend from out of town and stay in Brooklyn, Hotel Delmano is the place.
Also: the atmosphere. Holy! I loved it.

This place is gorgeous. Thats why I gave it a star. The four stars I deducted from 5: 1* embarrassing wine pours, 1* for toddler size cocktail glasses, 1* for hilarious pricing, 1* for attracting jackass chumps new to the Rotten Apple that think that blowing a week's salary on barely alcoholic drinks on a desolate block of backyards Williamsburg is what New York is all about. Hardly. Go across the street an support the dog bar thats been there since forever, where you can get drunk for $20... unless your parents just bought your lower east side condo or you can roll with the big boys because Grandma's will just came through (apparently this is 90% of NYC now).

this is one of my first choices for a drink in w-burg if I have to be there. now that i'm old, i fully welcome joints of it's kind. it's hip but not grungy and the decor is lovely. If i can get one of the few tables in the back room which is dimly lit, red coated and covered in antique photos, i'm stoked. however, if i have to sit at a table up front or i'm stuck at the bar, this place really doesn't matter. i can't spend eleven dollars on a drink to sit in at a bar in williamsburg. i just can't.

Classy and expensive, the drinks are oh so satisfying at this mixologist bar. Dress well and expect a bit of a wait at the door; this is one of the few places in the neighborhood that actually has a doorman judging you. Fortunately, his job seems to be more about keeping rowdy already drunk people out and less about being snooty, and the cramped interior does mean they can't fit all that many people in at once.

Owned by the same guy who owns Union Pool...How would I describe the difference. Well. I'd bring my lovers to Hotel Delmano. I'd maybe take a one night stand to Union Pool. Maybe.

We waited approximately 40 minutes for a drink here. Seriously. Ten minutes to get the drink menu, another 15 minutes for the cocktail person to take my order, and another 15 minutes for her to bring it. Then we drank it in about 5 minutes, because at that point we were really thirsty (and annoyed). The whole experience sucked.

I gathered here with some cloaked gentlemen and dangerous women in January soon after its official opening. We drank several bottles of excellent wine and a few of the cocktails. It's an enchanted place that recalls an age before plastic cups and shitty flavored vodkas. An age when ice cubes were actually cube shaped.
Go early, grab a spot in back and roll some 20 sided dice with friends or bring a (potential) lover for a moody time. Expect to pay up, be comforted that johnny condo doesn't own the place.

Nice for a relaxed, quiet drink after work. Next time i will remember to wear my There Will Be Blood outfit. Beware (or enjoy) of the host aka Count Touchula who works the door.

This place is not your average bar, especially for Williamsburg. The subtle and chic decor is strangely turn-of-the-century with a purposeful run-down feeling which makes it relaxed but also reminiscent of a time when things were a bit more grand. The real highlight here are the drinks, though. This is not a trashy bar that makes drinks to get the patrons sloppy in seconds, but instead is a place that prides itself on creating tasty and original creations. Try The Rattlesnake that consists of whiskey, absinthe and egg! Or just go whole hog and get the absinthe tap, where you get a small dose of absinthe in your cup and a few complimentary drops of Wormwood absinthe (since wormwood is illegal to sell in the US the owner will swing by and give you a complimentary "gift" should you purchase the tap) that is served with water dripping over a sugar cube on a classic slotted spoon. I love the old fashioned garb the bartenders don, and check out how they have a huge ice block that they chip from and the old-timey seltzer water bottle they use. This place is all about the details which is stellar. So far it has been able to stay under the radar and I hope it stays that way!

Delmano is leading the way for Williamsburg to mature into a strapping young neighborhood.
The taste of decor is impeccable. This surmounting all of my bar room fantasies. I only realize now how self-absorbed I am because it makes me sad as I could never create a bar that has as many great touches as the hidden Hotel.
They fulfill every check mark I look for in a bar, and then they unleash their hammers which blow away those check marks.
- Coat hooks under the bar - check
- Bartenders dressed with respect to the customer - check
- Clientelle and staff I want to eff - check
- Tin Ceilings - The ceiling is a painted sky scene in one room and some other tin-like (if not tin) material in the other rooms. The ceilings are 15 feet high at minimum with beautiful crown moldings. That destroys the check.
- Drinks - Great list of drinks. Each one is a great mathematical equation. I like to take a sip and count. As the numbers go higher, the different feelings go through my mouth and body. Each sip deserves at least 8 seconds.
: Lighting is nearly perfect. The paintings are not repros. It's like they are not trying to relive any past fantasies - they have created a functional and an utterly satisfying space that will be adored at any era. Is Howard Roarke non-fiction?
- Prices - I'm not coming here to get wasted. If I was, I would go down the block and get beer in styrofoam. I'm okay with 10-14 dollar cocktails.
: The tables are a bit small, but are made out of a beautiful white stone with perfect imperfections. Although seemingly an awkward shape, the couches are surprisingly comfortable. The wood floors know what they are, seem so happy to compliment the rest of the building.
What makes me shake my head in awe of coolness is the front door. It's closed from Berry storefront. Gates. Only when you come around to N9th will you find your way in. Very tricky, Delmano... See you under the streetlamp.

A super chill place with excellent cocktails. Unlabeled entrances, impeccable decor and well dressed waitstaff/barkeeps give this place a secret speakeasy kind of feel.
Came in here on an afternoon, just a couple people in here, friends of the staff mainly. Cocktails in the afternoon!? Yeah, try it some time, its refreshing and relaxing. The staff were super friendly, were able to talk about drinks and we knew everything was fresh because there he was chopping and squeezing the citrus for that night.
Okay - I just wanted to say more about the impeccable decor. It looks great at night, candles, wood handles, mad proprs. During the day the place is just so much fun. Sitting at the bar you notice the collection of liquor - some of it stacked high and accessed by a library ladder, the fridge doors are custom made, the ceiling paint has been antiqued, the windows and mirrors have been antiqued, the CPR kit sign is custom and old timey, the Choken Victims sign is all old timey. All of the little details make this place feel right. Its this feeling of rightness that I like in a good cocktail place, that and a nicely mixed drink. This place has both.
This place seriously soothes me. Attentive friendly bartenders who make the best manhattan I've ever had (ask for Kevin's manhattan)
Great atmosphere, and when I've been there not overcrowded, although I've been getting reports it's becoming much busier lately, ie: not soothing. Let's hope it remains a bit of a mellow place for awhile longer
A pretty classy establishment - very cute and cozy - great date place.
I went when it very first opened and the doormen where a little - eh. Like don't make us wait in "line" for no apparent reason when I am at a bar around the corner from my house. We got in after about 5 minutes and were able to get a table.
Finally, a good reason to get on the L train! OK, slight exaggeration, sort of. Zenkichi is a great reason to get on the L, and my friends who live off the Graham stop are a pretty good reason to get on the L. Usually.
But Hotel Delmano is the kind of place that, if it were in DUMBO, I'd never get on any train, ever. It's cozy, it's old-timey, and the cocktails are fantastic--in my book, the winning combination and pretty much always worth paying for one drink what would get 2 people in a normal town into the movies.
In the front room, the booze is kept on 9-10 ft shelves behind the bar, and the bartenders zip around on one of those slidey ladders you see in old libraries to retrieve it. So cute! There are 2 smaller rooms, both lined with nice leather banquettes, a little quieter and more private than the main room.
The menu lists about 10 cocktails, mostly classics, but with one Delmano original--the Commandant--which was excellent. Also tried the St Germain, Corpse Reviver No.2 and the Seelbach, all super tasty. Were they Milk & Honey caliber? Maybe not quite, but close. I'd like to go back and see what the bartenders can do when asked to stray from the menu. Can they read my mind the way they can at M&H? If so, you may find me looking for a pad near a different bridge.

Now, perhaps it was a tad overly ambitious to try to get into the newest "hot spot" in the area at 10pm on a Saturday night. But gosh darn it, we were gonna try. Of course, we were met with a tad bit of door attitude, but eventually granted entry but informed we were allotted standing room only. However, hovering near the bar scored us seats within minutes, where we stayed all night.
The interior really is lovely. Very old-world style. Reminded me of some old New Orleans Jazz club or some wealthy old eccentric's rare book library. The specialty cocktails, running between $9-14 each, are all artfully constructed by a very busy team of well-dressed mixologists. Several included ingredients that I was unfamiliar with (such as Lillet, a liqeur), and the bartender allowed me to taste several components of my drinks individually. That was nice. For me, the standout was the elderflower/cava/soda drink. Refreshing, sweet, delicious. I also enjoyed the Corpse Reviver #2 and the Hemingway Daiquiri. Each was unique and new to me, so points for that.
I think I would really, really like this place on a weekday, and with less door attitude; but at their prices it definitely won't end up being my local spot. Unless I happen to win the lottery today.

Ahhh, just like a meeting of the Round Table, but in Brooklyn!
As soon as I uttered the secret password (i.e. flashed my ID) I was whisked away into the mind of Dorothy Parker. A posh salon: flickering candlelight, marble bar, cozy booths and old photos that seem to be watching and snickering when you aren't looking. Old fashioned cocktails and roasted nuts on each table, and on this particular night a "Roaring" pair came in decked to the nines in derby and cloche hats, it was like something out of the Great Gatsby! And I was so completely influenced by my surroundings that I sipped the night away on some very delicious and light champers from New Mexico.
It's easy to fall prey like it's prohibition to what is Hotel Delmano, so watch your pocketbooks! It is not cheap and maybe a place you would want to reserve for special occasions. But, if you are feeling fancy and a little tipsy they do accept all major credit cards and no, they do not have rooms to rent by the hour.
PS This establishment is the geniusity of the same owners as Union Pool, so expect to see a very nice looking hipster set scenein' it up.

Like every other cocktail nerd, I was chomping at the bit to make it out to Delmano as soon as the first scent of its existence reached my foodie-blog-savvy nose. When I found out it was located all the way out in the 10th level of North Billville/almost-Greenpoint hell, I sadly wrote it off as a "maybe someday" kind of place. As luck would have it, though, my bar-hopping companion for the night had devised a plan that included a stop at one (or more) of the local spots, so I stipulated that I was down for a trip to the countryside, so long as a stop-off at Delmano was in the cards.
If Delmano had not just opened, I probably would have given it 3 stars, due to its incompetent door policy. We stopped by at around midnight on a Saturday and were told that the place was full to capacity, but that we could leave our name and cell phone number and come back when there was space. We did so, choosing to decamp to a local faux Irish pub for a G&T whilst we waited. An hour later, we were ready for another drink and tired of waiting, so we stopped back by Delmano, where we found the place about half empty, and the doorman who'd taken our name/number sheepishly eating at the bar (and thus not calling us). Blerg.
One inside, Delmano is a brilliant little spot, warm and inviting with the perfect cocktail nerd ambiance of an old-timey speakeasy. And the drinks were really well-made, certainly matching most of the Manhattan high-end cocktail bars. I started off with the Seelbach Cocktail (bourbon, cointreau, angostura, peychauds, and sparkling wine), which was tasty and complex. My companion in cocktail nerdry had the St. Germain cocktail (S.G., cava, and soda), which was sweet and enjoyable, although I probably wouldn't want more than the sip that I tried. For our second round, she stuck with the S.G., whereas I tried the Commandant's Cocktail, which I'd heard so much about. The pear, cointreau, lemon, and green chartreuse blended perfectly to make a delicious, somewhat light, and highly complex cocktail.
Highly recommended, so long as they get their door policy sorted. Not on a par with a Petraske gin-joint, but very, very close.

Well, here it is, a good grown-up place to have a drink. The interior is supah cute, very understated and elegant. The servers and door people were all very cordial indeed, I feel like we could be friends.
I had the most magical drink here and in my love for said drink, I have no recollection of the name. Ahem, one too many of them I suppose.
I wouldn't do groups here, it's definitely an intimate vibe and much harder to get in with more than 4 people.
So huddle up with a few of your closest friends and have some drinks in the dark lovely environment.

I am as alienated as the next person by the influx of money and cool wars of the neighborhood. But I was completely charmed by everything about this place, and it really gave me the feeling that the reason we all put up with the nonsense of living in this city is so that our neighborhood bar can be this beautiful and special. We asked the bartender to make us drinks that weren't on the menu, so he asked us what kinds of ingredients we liked, and he delivered two fantastic vintage cocktails. Mine was called the aviatrix and had an essence of violet in it along with gin. We went on a Sunday afternoon but I bet it's packed to a point of unpleasantness on a weekend night. Still, I expected way more attitude and less quality and was very pleasantly surprised.

i heart hotel delmano.
i could sit in here for hours and hours. i do sit in here for hours and hours.
a beautiful space with a lot of beautiful people, great drinks, great lighting and ambiance.
i just wish the drinks were a *slight* bit cheaper. but at least you know here, you get what you pay for and that is quality.
gorgeous.

Love this place.
My book club meets here every month, and the staff could NOT be friendlier or more welcoming. Not sure if I'd want to fight the crowds here--it tends to get busy just as we're leaving, around 9pm, but if you come early you can find a great, intimate little nook, and have a fab (but pricey) cocktail or two.
GREAT date place. Very romantic.

Three stars for ambience alone. The place is gorgeous, beautiful! But the prices!!! Give me a break. Not only are the drinks expensive, they're served in tiny glasses. My friend wanted to send his $9 glass of wine back to the bar when he saw the tiny pour and request a beer instead, but decided to suck it up. He was actually angry when he saw the pour. I'm so sick of these places, they're not just overpriced, they're ludicrously overpriced. And I'm sick of the argument that one must pay these prices for a decent cocktail. Lime juice, simple syrup and fruit puree are not that expensive! Neither is booze. I know. I was a bartender in New York for ten years and did most of the liquor ordering. What these type of places, Milk and Honey, Employees Only, etc. are really selling is a hand job for your ego. Oh, I can roll with the big boys and blow a lot of cash getting drunk...I got it like that...Give me a break. I don't mind paying good money for good booze or food, but I do not want to be played for a sucker. Avoid this place unless your expense account is picking up the tab.
