We rode by here after having lunch in Ashland, and it is so spectacular I had to check it out. A total Victorian replica, and even if you are just a dinner guest, they let you lounge on the massive back porch. It was an extremely breezy day, and so serene. I almost like it better here than Bayfield for a view, because you are right on the lake. We noticed the restaurant on the lower level, Molly Cooper's was having a Fri. night fish fry, so for variety we checked it out. I had fried cod, Basil had fried walleye. Huge portions, and a good fry. What was really outstanding were the fresh vegetables that came with them. Carrots, green beans, and yellow carrots, sauteed in butter and garlic had a perfect crunch to them. I ate them all before I touched the fish. They also served new potatoes(which I never eat) with herbs and butter and they were delicious. I look forward to a hotel stay. The guests I saw seemed very satisfied. The owner was very cordial, and gave us brochures and other info, and we were just passing through.

In years past, Hotel CHequamegon was our one family vacation spot. So last summer We decided to revisit the hotel for old time sake, and i was very disappointed.  Our reservation was recorded wrong and we hardly got a room.  The room we did receive was small and overpriced.  Despite the the error on the hotels part, the management made no effort to recompense us on our room.  The restaurant located on the bottom level was not good.  Don't eat there you will be overcharged and disappointed.
Overall The hotels atmosphere has a old lavish decor that's kinda fun.  The night staff was friendly and one guy went out of his way to make us a pot of coffee.  And the view of the lake is beautiful.
